Faye Stewart

ORD -- Faye E. Stewart, 95, of Ord died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Ord United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ord Memorial Chapel.

Garry Wampole

KEARNEY -- Garry Wampole, 57, of 82 Valley View Trailer Court in Kearney, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000 from injuries resulting from an auto accident near Opal, Wyoming on Wednesday morning.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Salvation Army Chapel in Kearney. Captain Dale Hixenbaugh, Captain Gordon Reed and Rev. Lee Arlington will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW 759 and the National Guard unit of Kearney at Elm Creek Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army and to the Evangelical Free Church of Kemmerer, Wyoming.

Shane Jantzi

FAIRMONT -- Shane Nicholas Jantzi, 31, of Fairmont, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, in Fairmont.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Fairmont Community Church in Fairmont. Graveside services will be at the Blue Mound Cemetery at Milford. The Rev. Bob Troyer will officiate.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Farmer and Son Funeral Home at Geneva.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mr. Jantzi was born icon Nov. 3, 1968, at Omaha to Richard and Karen (Havel) Jantzi.

Survivors include his parents of Fairmont; one brother, Scott A. of Grand Island; one sister, Shelly K. of Fairmont; and grandparents, Don and Gladys Nichols of St. Paul.

Adeline Stoddard

CAMBRIDGE -- Adeline E. Stoddard, 72, of Cambridge, formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at the Cambridge Manor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lockenour-Jones mortuary in Cambridge. The Rev. Rick Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.

A memorial has been established in her name.

Mrs. Stoddard was born icon on Feb. 13, 1928, near Grand Island to Otto and Hattie (Leppin) Niemoth. She attended a Lutheran parochial school and church northwest of Grand Island.

She worked in food service.

She married Robert Stoddard on Aug. 7, 1950, in Grand Island. In the early 1960s, the family moved to Cambridge, where she purchased the Midget Cafe. She ran the cafe in Cambridge for 19 years before ill health forced her to close the cafe.

Survivors include one daughter, Cathy (Mrs. David) Kubik of Beatrice; three sons, Robert of Omaha, Terry of Cambridge and Larry of Joplin, Mo.; five grandchildren; and a special friend, Virgil Stamey of Cambridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Opal Rehder; and one brother, Lavern Niemoth.

Lola Widman

LINCOLN -- Lola Widman, 92, of Lincoln, formerly of Central City, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Holmes Lake Manor in Lincoln.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Central City.

Mrs. Widman was born icon on March 4, 1908, in Archer to Charles H. and Florence I. (Herring) Woodward. She grew up in the Archer area and graduated from Archer high School in 1926.

She married Charles F. Widman on Feb. 12, 1930, in Archer. They farmed in Merrick County until 1946. They moved to the Wood River and Cairo area and farmed until retiring in 1974. They then moved to Central City. Mr. Widman died on Sept. 15, 1996. Mrs. Widman moved to Lincoln in 1996.

Mrs. Widman was an active member of the Cairo United Methodist Church and the Central City United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, but the main focus of her life was her family and her church.

Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca (Mrs. Mike) Gomez of Lincoln; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Vera (Mrs. Leonard) VanPelt of Archer.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Rachel M. Cover; two brothers, Clarence and Cort Woodward; and four sisters, Daisy Woodward, Mae Swan, Opal Campbell and Pearl Willis.

Anna Anderson

Anna M. Anderson, 80, of Grand Island died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at Riverside Lodge.

Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Iola Grimminger

Iola Grimminger, 88, of Grand Island died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at her home.

Services are tentatively set for Friday morning. Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charlene Snyder

Charlene J. Snyder, 69, of Grand Island died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Tim Anderson will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Douglas Grove Cemetery at Comstock.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Mrs. Snyder was born icon on June 8, 1930, at Comstock to Kenneth and Helen (Cleveland) Myers. She grew up and was educated at Ainsworth and graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1948. She attended Hastings College.

She then lived in Fillmore County and moved to Las Vegas in 1972.

She married James E. Snyder on July 22, 1978, in Las Vegas. They lived in Ainsworth until 1984, when they moved to Loveland, Colo. They moved to Grand Island in 1987.

Mrs. Snyder was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, PEO Chapter II and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was past honored queen of Job's Daughters, held several offices in the Grand Chapter of the Eastern Star, was a past member of the Victorian Society and worked and volunteered at Stuhr Museum.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Kenneth Mumby of Las Vegas; a stepdaughter, Gen Johnson of Johnstown; a stepson, Bryan Snyder of Grand Junction, Colo.; a granddaughter; four stepgrandchildren; and her parents, of Sargent.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Myers.

Glenn Barker

WOOD RIVER -- Glenn E. Barker, 78, of Wood River died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Wood River. The Revs. Rose Bartleson and Alan Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the Wood River Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mr. Barker was born icon on May 19, 1921, at Wood River to Roy and Amanda (Haack) Barker. He grew up in Wood River and graduated from Wood River High School in 1939.

He worked on Howard Rainforth's farm near Wood River for 13 years. He then went to work for Hindmarsh Chevrolet in Wood River as a mechanic.

He married Mary Ellen Reedeer on June 4, 1955, in Wood River. They lived in Wood River throughout their marriage. He worked for Johnson Grocery in Wood River and then started working for Gideon's Service in Wood River in 1971 as a service tank driver. He semiretired in 1996 and worked part time until 1998, when he was forced to retire due to failing health.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wood River.

He enjoyed bingo, fishing, gardening and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, James of Cairo, Douglas of Wood River and Paul of Grand Island; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one brother, Milton of Holdrege.

Peggy Brown

DONIPHAN -- Peggy F. Brown, 73, of Doniphan died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.

Services will be at a later date. Mrs. Brown was cremated. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to Prairie Winds of Doniphan.

Mrs. Brown was born icon on April 26, 1927, at Bilderston, England, to Bill and Bessie (Mayes) Clarke. She was educated in Bilderston.

She married Jack Brown in 1944 in Bilderston. The couple moved to the United States after World War II and lived in Haxtun, Colo. They moved in 1948 to McCook, where they farmed. In 1967, the family moved to Wichita, Kan., where they lived for 25 years. Mrs. Brown worked at a hospital for 25 years until her retirement in 1987.

Mr. Brown died in 1986. Mrs. Brown moved to Grand Island in 1995 and later moved to Prairie Winds of Doniphan.

She enjoyed fishing, crafts and working in her flower and vegetable gardens.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Mrs. Marlin) Gregg of Doniphan; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane.
