Kenneth Kremer

AURORA -- Kenneth Duane Kremer, 66, of Aurora died Thursday, June 1, 2000, in a farming accident at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Aurora High School theater. The Revs. Paul Nauman, Barry McCormick and Jerry Breese will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.

Memorials are suggested to Campus Crusade Athletes in Action.

Mr. Kremer was born icon on May 22, 1934, in Hamilton County to Maurice Albert and Alice Mildred (Troyer) Kremer. He grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1952. He graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois in 1957. He went to Korea as a missionary for Campus Crusade for Christ for seven years.

Mr. Kremer married Lila Warfield on Dec. 28, 1963, in Long Beach, Calif. After serving together in Korea, they moved to Texas for Campus Crusade in 1967. In 1971, they returned to Aurora, where he farmed with his dad and brother.

He worked with Nebraska churches to place Jesus videos in homes. The last few years, he traveled with Campus Crusade to Russia, Hungary, Turkey, South Korea and Costa Rica.

He was a member of Pleasant View Bible Church and the choir. He led many Bible studies. He played trumpet in the Hamilton County Band.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gregg of Aurora and Brian of Camarillo, Calif.; two daughters, Susan (Mrs. Stuart) Williams of Aurora and Julie (Mrs. Kirk) Nelson of Cody, Wyo.; one grandson; one brother, Bob of Aurora; and two sisters, Ardys (Mrs. Herb) Roszhart of Marquette and Beth (Mrs. Norman) Stucky of Jefferson City, Mo.

Brown Quick

MINDEN -- Brown Quick, 84, of Minden, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at the Kearney County Health Services, Long Term Care Unit in Minden.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden. The Rev. Don Hunzeker will officiate. Burial will be in the Osco Cemetery Southeast of Minden.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Layton Funeral Home in Minden.

Mr. Brown was born icon April 14, 1916, in Bloomsburg, Pa. to Albert and Mary (Gilbert) Quick. He grew up in the Bloomsburg area and graduated from high school in Bloomsburg. Mr. Brown became a tool and die marker and worked in the Naval Shipyard's in Washington D.C.

He married Josephine Nelson and moved to Nebraska in 1946. Mr. Brown worked at the ammunition depot in Hastings, Glantz Manufacturing in Minden and Royal Plastics in Minden.

They later farmed in the Osco area southeast of Minden. Mrs. Quick died in 1963.

He married Margaret Mathiasen Morris on Aug. 29, 1963. They moved to Omaha and in 1972 they moved to Alda and back to Minden in 1975. While in Omaha and Alda, he owned and operated Brownie's Midwest Jewelry.

He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Bonnie Brown of Lincoln; three sons, Ted and John of Omaha and Mark of Hawaii; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife he was preceded in death by one sister.

Arthur Walden

COLUMBUS -- Arthur W. Walden, 80, of Columbus, formerly of Albion, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Highland Park Evangelical Church in Columbus. The Rev. Mike Neely will officiate. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion at 4:30 p.m. with military rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 162 and V.F.W. Post No. 736 of Albion.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.

Edward Bialas

SILVER CREEK -- Edward J. Bialas, 89, of Silver Creek died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Columbus Community Hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence's Catholic Church in Silver Creek. The Rev. Robert Nienaber will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

McKown Funeral Home of Silver Creek is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; one daughter, Geraldine (Mrs. Ronald) Vetick of Silver Creek; three grandchildren; six brothers, Walter and Daniel, both of Silver Creek, Johnnie and Steve, both of Fullerton, and Leonard and Richard, both of Columbus; and four sisters, Dorothy Bialas of Columbus, Rosie (Mrs. Ted) Tworek of Omaha, Frances Zelasney of Silver Creek and Belbina Zona of St. Cloud, Minn.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and Louie; and two infant sisters.

Lynn Christensen

ST. EDWARD -- Lynn Lee Christensen, 52, of St. Edward drowned Sunday, May 28, 2000, near Stanton.

Services were on Thursday at the United Church of Christ in Albion. The Rev. Mary Avidano officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion.

Levander Funeral Home in Albion was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Christensen was born icon on April 14, 1948, in Fremont to Jerel D. and Helen Lorraine (Smith) Christensen. He attended elementary school in Fremont and Fort Calhoun and graduated from the eighth grade at District 4 School in Boone County. He graduated from Albion High School in 1966.

He attended the Universal Trade School in Omaha for a year and studied mechanics. He also attended Central Community College in Columbus and studied welding and machinery.

He worked at D&L in Columbus for a number of years before moving near Boone in 1977.

He married Alice Tracy on Oct. 27, 1977. They lived near Boone. Mr. Christensen had been working at Tri-Valley Co-op in St. Edward.

He enjoyed fishing, mechanical work, construction work and helping and being around people, especially children.

Survivors include his wife, of Saronville; his mother, of Albion; two sisters, Connie (Mrs. Paul) Wade of Omaha and Terry (Mrs. Dann) Matchett of St. Edward; and three brothers, Paul of Albion, Frank of Platte Center and Chris of Boone.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Archie Johnston

CHAPMAN -- Archie William Johnston, 87, of Chapman died on Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Lloyd Boyce will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Joan Nielsen

BOELUS -- Joan Nielsen, 68, of Boelus, died Thursday, June 1, 2000 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Grace United Methodist Church in Boelus. The Rev. Alan Davis will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.

There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family.

Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Nielsen was born icon Aug. 11, 1931 at Beatrice to Ray Sr. and Sarah (Harrow) Thornton. She attended schools in Beatrice, Rulo and graduated from Ulysses High School in 1949. She received a regents scholarship and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Kearney State College.

She married Alan Nielsen on Nov. 22, 1951, in Boelus. The couple lived in Boelus.

She taught country school in Howard County, worked for Boelus and Centura Public Schools and Central Community Services as a teacher's aide and then a teacher. She retired as a Regional Handicap-Education Coordinator for the Head Start program in 1989 because of health problems.

She enjoyed singing, playing trumpet, music, roller skating, reading and board games. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Boelus.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Paul and Mark, both of St. Paul and Alan Ray of Grand Island; three daughters, Sarah "Sally" (Mrs. Jon) Sazama and Toni (Mrs. Paul) Bentz, both of St. Paul and Connie Jo (Mrs. William) Steele of Bazine, Kansas; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Sims of Lawrence, Kansas and Patricia (Mrs. Ken) Dearing of Claremore, Okla.; sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Thornton Jr; two sisters, Margaret Spicer and Dorthea Neas; and one granddaughter.

Kathleen Enzminger

NORTH PLATTE -- Kathleen B. Enzminger, 90, of North Platte died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at her home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.

Mrs. Enzminger was born icon on Dec. 28, 1909, at Grand Island to Edward and Nan (Calnon) Black. She lived in Canada for 12 years and also lived in Grand Island before moving to North Platte in 1940.

She married Howard Enzminger on Nov. 17, 1941, at North Platte. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 31 years before her retirement in 1970.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Ladies of St. Patrick's, Bible Sharing Group, Does, Union Pacific Old-timers and Telephone Pioneers.

She was an avid reader.

Survivors include one nephew, Lynn Black of Grand Island; six nieces, including Jennifer (Mrs. Tom) Ellis of Oconto.

Her husband died on March 4, 1991. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Edmund Black.

Anna Oliver

Anna L. Oliver, 95, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at the Wedgewood Care Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gretchen Diers will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Messiah Lutheran Church or to the family's choice.

Mrs. Oliver was born icon on Oct. 25, 1904, to William and Mary Elsie (Sundermeier) Stoppkotte in rural Merrick County. She grew up near Chapman, where she attended Lockwood School and graduated from the 8th grade.

She married George E. Oliver on Jan. 5, 1927, in Belleville, Kan. The couple lived in Grand Island. She was a homemaker until her husband's death in 1950, at which time she babysat and did some domestic cleaning.

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and she babysat for various area churches. She enjoyed cooking, flower and vegetable gardening and she loved fishing.

Survivors include two sons, John and Larry, both of Grand Island; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson; seven brothers and two sisters.
