Flora C. Rouleau

Ft. Myers Florida - Flora C. Rouleau, 87, 16900 Slater Road died, Sunday September 12, 2004 at Lee Convalescent Center, Ft. Myers after a period of failing health.

Flora was born in Somersworth, NH on November 17, 1917 and was the daughter of Treffle and Emerilda (Nadeau) Doyon. She was raised in Somersworth, NH and graduated from St. Martin Academy. She was a factory worker for many years working at area shoes shops including Somersworth Shoe Co.

Flora had been a resident of Florida for the past seven years coming from Wells Maine.

Family members include her daughter Irene Adams of N. Ft. Myers, Florida. Other family members include her Sister Aldea Filion of Somersworth, NH; her grandson Gary Adams and Great Grand Daughter Lindsey Adams both of N. Ft. Myers Florida. Also several nephews and nieces.

Adam Routhier

SOMERSWORTH - Adam Jacob Routhier, 18, of 91 Indigo Hill Road, died Friday Sept. 10, 2004, as the sole victim of a motor vehicle accident.

Born in Dover, N.H. on July 17, 1986, he was a lifelong resident of Somersworth, having attended Somersworth schools and was a graduating member of the Somersworth High School, Class of 2004.

While there he was a friend to many and an active participant in the football program. He had been employed in the produce department at Shaw’s Supermarket in Dover and by the Somersworth House of Pizza.

Away from school and work, he was a good friend and loved by all who knew him, and remembered as a great football fan who enjoyed spending time and playing video games with noble and caring friends.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Robert G. Routhier of Somersworth, who died in 1993.

He is survived by his mother, Claudette M. Routhier of Somersworth; grandmother, Gloria T. Routhier of Somersworth; and sister, Jodie L. Jacques of Somersworth; all to whom he was a loving son, grandson and brother, as well as a strong and capable support system.

He is further survived by aunts and uncles, Lea and Michael Aquilina of Brentwood, and Raymond and Debbie Routhier of Sugar Land, Texas; cousins Amie Masse, Robbie Masse, Patrick Aquilina, and Joseph, Amber and Alaina Routhier, as well as many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Also, Darren Collins and a special high school teacher, Stephen Mackenzie (Mr.Mac).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Victims, Inc. P.O. Box 455 Rochester, NH 03886-0445.

Michael John Russell

Somersworth - Michael John Russell, 52, of 151 West High Street, died Saturday September 11, 2004 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after a long illness.

Michael was born in Portsmouth, VA on January 27, 1952 and was the son of Milton and Beverly (Bishop) Russell Sr. He was a graduate of Middletown RI Grammar School and with his parents moved to Berwick Maine in 1966 where he graduated from Noble High School, Class of 1971. He went on to further his education and received his Master Degree in Accounting from Southern New Hampshire College in Manchester.

His career was in the financial field where in the past five years he served as a financial comptroller with The Baker Company of Sanford, Maine. He had also worked for a time as a Cost Accountant with Clarastat before its closing.

Michael was an avid bowler and belonged to a Bowling League out of Dover. He also loved to watch all types of sports. Active in the community he was a current member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment in Somersworth, NH.

Family members include his wife, Jo-Ann (Lapointe) Russell of Somersworth, his mother Beverly Bishop of Berwick, ME. He also leaves two stepchildren, David Miles Jr. of Dover and Kathryn Miles of Somersworth. A brother, Milton Russell Jr. of Littleton, two sisters, Mrs. Timothy (Debra) Fleck of Berwick, Me and Mrs. Dennis Ada Waskiewicz of Berwick, Me. He also leaves a very special nephew, Paul Fleck of Danaport, Ca. and many cousins nephews and nieces. His father who died in 1983 predeceased him.

Martha LaRock

Martha S. LaRock, 71, of 28 Franklin St. died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital following a period of failing health.

Born Dec. 27, 1933, in Wolfeboro, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Clarissa (Wallingford) Cressey. She had worked as a molder for Hubbard Shoe, Algor Shoe, Farmington Shoe and Roberts Shoe. She had attended the Community Baptist Church in Milton.

Members of her family include her children, Arthur LaRock of South Lebanon, Maine, Velzora (Sue) Wiggin of Rochester, Doris LaRock of Somersworth and Dorothy Jowette of Sanford, Maine; three grandchildren, Irene Tripp, Arthur Wiggin Jr. and Robert Jowette III and five great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Charles LaRock, predeceased her in 1997.

Family and friends may call Tuesday, Jan. 4, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home 86 S. Main St. Rochester. A graveside service will be held in the spring.

Priscilla Mourgenos

Priscilla Mourgenos, 60, of 10 Doelson St. died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at her home after a sudden illness.

Born May 21, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Fernand and Lucia (Labrie) Landry.

Mrs. Mourgenos has lived in the area all her life but in Somersworth for the past 5 years. She was at one time doing nursing work at the St. Ann's Home.

She was a very generous woman who served as a volunteer with many area charities. She enjoyed camping, spending time with her grandchildren and her family. She always had love for everyone and never forgot to say, "I love you."

Members of her family include her loving husband of 40 years, and owner of A&M Roofing, Andy Mourgenos of Somersworth; her son, Brian Mourgenos and his wife, Wendy; her grandchildren, Brittany, Alexis, Jillian, Andrew and Nichole Mourgenos, and Krystal McKenna, all of Rochester, Tommy Mourgenos of Farmington and Ashley Rennebu of Dover; her brothers, Ronny Landry and his wife, Anita, of Somersworth, Roger Landry of Somersworth, Marty Landry and his wife, Debbie, of Somersworth; her best friend, Carla Gibney of Somersworth; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by her son, Kenneth Mourgenos in 2002.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester NH 03867. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Dover following the funeral.

Michaud, Alice

Alice Michaud, 93, formerly of 74 Washington St., died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at the Epsom Manor in Epsom, N.H. following a period of failing health.

She was born in South Berwick, Maine, June 11, 1911, the daughter of Henry and Clementine (Poitras) Pelletier. She was educated in local schools and had resided in South Berwick for many years, moving to Somersworth in 1975.

She enjoyed cooking for her family and playing bingo.

She was the widow of George Michaud, who died in 1990.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Clifton (Beatrice) Bartlett of Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Robert (Helen) Garneau and Mrs. Paul (Lillian) Michaud, both of Somersworth, two sons, Maurice Michaud and his wife, Jeanne, of Lewiston, Maine and Lucien Michaud and his wife, Judy, of Largo, Fla. eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Roberge Funeral Home, 298 High St., Somersworth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin Church with Fr. Aaron Pfaff, pastor, as celebrant. Spring burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorials may be made to St. Martin Church or to the charity of one’s choice.

Verville, Lawrence

Lawrence Arthur Verville, 78 years, of Mark Circle, Berwick, died January 12, 2005 at Wentworth-Douglass hospital, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.

“Honest Larry”, as he was well known, was born March 28, 1926 in East Milton, MA, the son of Arthur and Celia Freeland Verville.

Larry proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during World War II. After the War, Larry built his career as a die cast manufacturer at General Electric where he retired after 23 years. Larry also cut hair in the barbershop that his father started for many years after work.

Larry looked forward to Christmas Eve every year for that is when he and Arlene would have their family get-together. He loved his family. Larry also enjoyed traveling. He also had a special bond with his four Norwegian Elkhounds. It was often hard to distinguish who exactly was the “master”, Larry or his dogs.

Larry was predeceased by his daughter Kathleen Lessard.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Arlene; son Bill and his wife Janet Verville of Kittery, ME; daughter Carol Verville of Naples, FLA; sister Antoinette Harvey of Somersworth, NH; son-in-law Jerry Lessard of Berwick; grandchildren Suzanne, Heidi, “Little” Billy, Kimberly, Parish, and Jason; and twelve great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 11-12:30 am on Saturday, January 15 at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick, ME. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 1 pm at Our Lady of Peace. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Somersworth, NH.

Richard Couture

Richard J. Couture, 73 of 257 Green Street, died Tuesday January 4, 2005 at his residence after a brief illness.

Dick was born in Somersworth on August 29, 1931 and was the son of Ernest Joseph and Albina (Gagnon) Couture. He was raised in Somersworth and was a graduate of Somersworth High School.

After High School, Richard went into the military and started a distinguished career with the U. S. Air Force, which spanned over 20 plus years. During his military career, Richard served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. While with the Air Force, Richard served as an Aircraft Fuel Systems Mechanic. He retired with the rank of Master Sgt.

Upon his retirement from the service, Dick was employed with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for over 10 years. More recently though, he will be remembered by many as the owner of Dick's Fix It Shop which he owned and operated for the past 30 years.

Richard was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a communicant of St. Martin Catholic Church.

Family members include his sons, Thomas Couture and his wife Linda of Rochester, Marc Couture of Dover and Glen Couture and his wife Bonnie of Berwick, Maine. He also leaves a daughter; Lynne Peterson and her husband David of N. Berwick, Maine. Other family members include a brother Roland Couture of Somersworth, three sisters, Rita LaCourse, Theresa Beaudoin and Mrs. Valmore (Yvette) Daigle all of Somersworth, several grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Raoul and Richard Couture and a sister, Irene Pickard, predeceased him. He was predeceased by his wife Beth (Blair) Couture who died in 1965.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00AM in St. Martin Catholic Church, W. High and Maple Street, with Rev. Aaron Pfaff, Pastor as celebrant, burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth, NH. The family respectfully decline flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to either the DAV Transportation Fund or to the Co checo Valley Humane Society.

Alfred Masse

Alfred Masse, 86, died Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2004, after several years of failing health.

He was the son of the late Albert and Marie Anne (Doyon) Masse of Somersworth, N.H. He was a resident of Jacksonville, Fla. for 50 years.

He was raised in Somersworth and graduated from St. Martin Academy and Somersworth High School. He loved playing cards. He loved his summer vacations in New Hampshire.

He retired in 1980 after 20 years of service at the Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, as a computer programmer. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Judith Reyna and her husband, Juan; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bertha Dubois of Rochester, N.H., Rita Mercier and husband, Lucien, and Helen Croteau and husband, David; one brother, Martin Masse and wife, Rachel; a sister-in-law, Delia Carr and husband, Richard, of Somersworth; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife, Madeline (Copp); his sisters, Blanche McFarline and Cecile Smart; and his brothers, Roger and Gerard.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in the chapel of the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, Orange Park, Fla., with the Rev. James R. Boddie, celebrant.

Bernard Nadeau

Bernard Nadeau, 67, of Berwick Estates, died Monday January 3, 2005 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after a period of failing health.

Bernard was born in Somersworth on July 17, 1937 and was the son of Euclide and Eva (Perreault) Nadeau. He was raised in Somersworth and attended school at the Biddeford Pool. He also attended the LaSalette Seminary in Enfield, NH and attended Loyola Univ. in Baltimore Maryland. Bernard had lived in the Somersworth-Berwick area most of his life.

After receiving his education, He went on to serve with the US Army during the 1950's.

Family members include his brothers, Julian Nadeau of Biglersville, PA, Armand Nadeau of Lady Lake, FL and Florian Nadeau of Berwick, Maine. He leaves his sisters, Prudence Broniski of Florida, Solange Turgeon of Somersworth, Estelle Lauze of Berwick and a half sister Laurianna Gagnon of Somersworth. Many nephews and nieces.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers Laurent and Raynald Nadeau.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street, Somersworth, NH will be on Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am in St. Martin Catholic Church, W. High and Maple Streets with Rev. Aaron Pfaff, Pastor as celebrant. Burial will follow in the family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his name to St. Martin Catholic Church, Somersworth, NH.

May Turmelle

May Pauline Turmelle, 72 of 4 Coe Drive died Thursday December 23, 2004 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after a long illness.

May was born in Somersworth on September 30, 1932 and was the daughter of Raoul and Lucinda (Throughworthy) Turmelle. She was raised in Somersworth, attending St. Martin Academy. Pauline enjoyed going to the Homemakers of Strafford County and enjoyed bowling, shopping and going out to eat.

Family members include her brother Richard Turmelle and his wife Nancy of Springvale, Maine and her sister Lorraine Ouellette of Vernon, CT. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

May was predeceased by her brother Raoul Turmelle and by her parents.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street, Somersworth will be on Wednesday evening from 6 to 9pm. A Wake service will be held in the funeral home at 7:00pm. Private burial services will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth.

The family requests that Memorial contributions be made in her name to the Homemakers of Strafford County 215 Rochester Hill Road, Rochester, NH 03867.

Cole, Charles

Charles Cole, Jr., 79, of 28 Franklin Street died Monday January 10, 2005 at the Dover Rehabilitation Center after a period of failing health.

He was born February 3, 1925 in Wolfeboro, NH., the son of Charles and Mary (Lowery) Cole, Sr. He attended schools in Limington, Maine was a graduate of Limington High School and taught Sunday School . He was a veteran in the US Army during WW II.

Charles moved to the Dover/Somersworth, NH area in the Early 60’s. He worked for local building contractors and later for the Busy Bee Cleaning Service of Somersworth, retiring in 1990.

He is survived by his step-son Orman Hall and his wife Jeanette of Dover, a grand-daughter Asia Hall of Concord, NH. and predeceased by two brothers, Earl Foss and Frank Cole.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Seacoast Cancer Research Center, 789 Central Ave. , Dover, NH 03820.

Nadeau, Marjorie

Marjorie Lorraine Nadeau, 76 of 49 Butler Ave., Berwick, passed away on January 9th 2005 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover, NH after an extended illness.

Marjorie known to her children as “Ma”, to her grandchildren as “Meme” and to her friends as “Margie” was born in Dover, NH on November 4, 1928 and was the daughter of Leroy Thomas and Sadie Ella (Sprawl) Meserve. She attended school until eighth grade when she went to work to help support her family.

Margie met her lifelong companion, Florian P. Nadeau, known as “Ned” while working together at the Dover Shoe Factory. For their first date, they went ice-skating and were married on August 26, 1950. Not only were they husband and wife, they were devoted parents, grandparents, and owned a business together, Ned’s Fish Market, from 1960 to 1990 in Somersworth, NH. Ned and Margie could always be found frying, bagging, and selling quality seafood at the best price in town. At the fish market, Ned and Margie supported their family and made life-long friends.

When not at the Fish Market, Margie could be found enjoying the things she loved, her family, playing cards, traveling, doing crossword puzzles, playing bingo and watching the birds outside her window.

Margie will always be remembered for her kind smile, compassionate nature and her ability to cook any dish to perfection. Her hamburg soup, baked stuffed lobster, chocolate chip cookies and whoopee pies were among her family’s favorites.

Her first love was undoubtedly her family. She enjoyed time spent with her devoted husband of 54 years, Florian Nadeau of Berwick, Maine. Together they raised three children, Robert P. Nadeau and his wife Elizabeth both of Terryville, CT, Dennis P. Nadeau and his wife Linda both of Wells, Maine and Suzanne M. Malenfant and her husband Charles both of Berwick, Maine. Marjorie is also survived by her two siblings who live in Rollinsford, NH; Joseph Meserve and Marlene Rivers (her best friend and sister) She is also s urvived by her grandchildren, Robert Nadeau, Nathan Nadeau, Lainey Nadeau, Kelsey Nadeau, and Kyle Malenfant.

Beside her parents she was predeceased by her brothers Richard, Charles and Thomas and by a sister Barbara Woodward.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street, Somersworth, NH will be on Wednesday from 5 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30AM in St. Martin Catholic, W. High and Maple Street, Somersworth, NH. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth, NH.

The family request that memorial contributions be made in her name to St. Martin Catholic Church.
