AGNES MERRILL
CANDIA – Agnes (Willet) Merrill, 80, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at Elliot Hospital, Manchester.
Born and raised in Manchester, she was the daughter of Albert and Mary (Cavanaugh) Willet. She graduated from Manchester West High School and from Hesser Business School.

She worked in the insurance business for a short time before becoming a full-time wife, mother and animal lover.

Family members include her husband of 58 years, David N. Merrill; a son, Mark W. Merrill of Medford, Ore.; a daughter, Anne Posnack of Candia; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

Memorial donations can be made to the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire, or to Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter.

JUDITH A. LESMERISES
AUBURN – Judith A. Lesmerises, 53, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Manchester on April 6, 1951, she was the daughter of Edward and Ann (Gedeon) Lemon. She attended Auburn Village School and graduated from Manchester Memorial High School in 1969. She also graduated from Houle’s Beauty Academy.

She had lived in Auburn for many years.

Mrs. Lesmerises worked in customer service for Hannaford Supermarkets for many years. She was also a licensed hairdresser.

She was a communicant of St. Peter Church in Auburn.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald R. Lesmerises, on Nov. 5, 2003.

Family members include four children, Gerry Lesmerises of Loudon, Jamie Lesmerises of Manchester, John Lesmerises of Germany, and Holly Lesmerises of Weare; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Samantha and Amy; a sister, Deborah Evans of Loudon; a brother, Roger Bouchard of Manchester; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, at Lambert Funeral Home, 1799 Elm St., Manchester.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, at St. Peter Church, Auburn. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.

JAMES M. STAIGERS
LEE – Ret. Col. James M. Staigers, 81, of Steppingstone Road, died Oct. 27, 2004, at his home in Lee. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 7, 1923, he was the son of Charles D. and Hazel (Gray) Staigers. He had lived in Lee for 28 years.
He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of New Hampshire.

Col. Staigers began his military career in 1943 when he joined the U.S. Army. He served as battalion commander with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired in 1971.

Family members include his wife of 59 years, Rena (Perlman) Staigers of Lee; three daughters, Mary Anne Trause and her husband Paul of Olympia, Wa., Tess Madrid of Berlin, N.M., and Joni Staigers Haley and her husband, Dana, of New Boston; nine grandchildren, Katiba Ulricht, Zach Barnes, Adam Madrid, DeJohni Madrid, Eric Madrid, Amanda Trause, Tommy Trause, Megan Smith and Garrett Smith; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home of Newmarket handled the arrangements.

ROGER SIMONEAU
HOOKSETT – Roger Simoneau, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, after a sudden fall.
Born in Manchester on Feb. 9, 1918, he was the son of George and Eva (Hebert) Simoneau. He had been a resident of Hooksett for many years.

Mr. Simoneau worked as a machinist with ArmTech for 15 years.

He was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Hooksett.

He was an avid Red Sox fan who was born the same year the Red Sox won the World Series. He enjoyed fishing and was devoted to his family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Yvette (Ricard) Simoneau; and one son, Roger Simoneau.

Family members include two daughters, Jeanne Sylvain of Raymond, and Debbie Moore of Hooksett; five sons, Raymond Simoneau of Manchester, Normand Simoneau of Manchester, Robert Simoneau of Pembroke, Donald Simoneau of Manchester, and Roland Simoneau of Nashua; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Albert Simoneau, Louis Mailloux and Robert Mailloux, all of Manchester; a sister, Doris O'Neil of Farmington, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.

Lambert Funeral Home of Manchester handled the arrangements.

UNA C. HEFFRON
GOFFSTOWN – Una C. (Lundergan) Heffron, 97, formerly of Medford Farms, Goffstown, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at Laurel Center, Bedford.
Born in Danvers, Mass., on July 31, 1907, she was the daughter of Cornelius and Mary (Bowen) Lundergan. She had been a New Hampshire resident since the early 1980s.

Earlier in her life, she was an active volunteer at Hunt Memorial Hospital in Danvers. Mrs. Heffron loved to play bingo.

She was predeceased by her husband, Augustin P. Heffron, in 1981; and a son, John B. Heffron Sr., in 1983.

Family members include four grandchildren, Kathryn M. Gagne and Christine A. Heffron, both of Bedford, Patricia M. Seaman of Londonderry, and John B. Heffron Jr. of Keller, Texas; four great-grandchildren, John A. Gagne, Matthew J. Gagne, Logan J. Seaman and Elizabeth D. Heffron; a daughter-in-law, Marie F. Heffron of Bedford; nephews, nieces and cousins.

Phaneuf Funeral Home of Manchester handled the arrangements.

FREDERICK D. SYLVIA JR.
AUBURN – Frederick D. Sylvia Jr., 61, of 72 Massabesic Drive, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at Parkland Medical Center in Derry.
Born in Providence, R.I., on Nov. 5, 1942, he was the son of Louise (Smith) Sylvia of Saugus, Mass., and the late Frederick Sylvia. He resided in Saugus, Mass., and Derry before moving to Auburn three years ago.

He was a production control manager for G.E./Ametek for several years.

Mr. Sylvia was past president of Lynn Park Softball Association of Lynn, Mass., and was past coach and manager of the Player’s Pub-Women’s Softball Team in Lynn. He was also an avid candlepin bowler at Lakeside Lanes in Manchester and was an avid fisherman.

He loved his camp and his women’s softball teams and going to fairs with his sister.

Family members include his wife of 22 years, Jacqueline (Brown) Sylvia of Auburn; a son, Frederick D. Sylvia III of Ames, Iowa; two daughters, Deborah Duket of Baltimore, and Dawn Ryan of Reading, Mass.; two grandchildren; three sisters, Sandra Walls of Maui, Hawaii, Cathy O'Dell of Lynn, Mass., and Sheila Trun of Chelmsford, Mass.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

PATRICIA E. MARSAN
CANDIA – Patricia E. Marsan, 61, of North Road, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, in Burlington, Mass., after a period of declining health.
Born in Lawrence, Mass., on Sept. 11, 1943, she was the daughter of Arthur and Irene (Lavertu) Marsan. She lived in Hampstead before moving to Candia.

Mrs. Marsan was active in Grace Capitol Four Square Church, Pembroke.

Family members include her mother, Irene St. Armand of Methuen, Mass.; two sons, Ricardo DePasquale and Bryan Brouillard, both of Candia; a daughter, Renee Ross-Daigle of Auburn; eight grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Marsan of Michigan; and two sisters, Barbara Jean Greenly and Rebecca Murphy, both of Delaware.

Maiden-Petrin Funeral Home of Candia handled the arrangements.

LORRAINE A. BARTLETT
EPSOM – Lorraine A. Bartlett, 73, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at Concord Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Manchester, she was the daughter of Philip and Mary (Upham) Goss.

Prior to her retirement, she had been an employee of Myrna Shoe.

She was an avid bingo player at the Manchester Bingo Center.

Family members include her husband of 49 years, Robert Bartlett of Epsom; a son, Adam Bartlett of Epsom; three daughters, Judy Jenness of Manchester, April Reed of Concord, and Robyn Francois of Allenstown; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, William Goss of Goffstown; two sisters, Maryann Charter of Manchester, and Evelyn LeFrancois of Bedford; nieces, nephews and cousins.

FLORENCE N. FROST
FINDLAY, Ohio – Florence Nancy Frost died on Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at home with her family at her bedside.
Born in Waltham, Mass., on July 7, 1928, she was the daughter of Joseph and Florence Frullo.

Mrs. Frost spent the majority of her life in Findlay, Ohio. She spent years working out of her home as a cake baker/decorator. She devoted her time to her family. She believed family was everything.

She enjoyed shopping, gardening, reading, sewing and dancing. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could add laughter to any situation. She will be sadly missed by all of those who knew and loved her. She married Charles Price in 1948 and he preceded her in death. In 1973, she married Max E. Frost, who died on June 12, 2002.

Family members include her children, Patty (Fred) Schies of Findlay, Ohio; Trina (Ken) Henderson of Amarillo, Texas; Charles (Beth) Price of Coconut Grove, Fla.; Joseph (Carolyn) Price of Apex, N.C.; William Price (Lisa Oribello) VanBuren, Ohio; Jackie (Ed) Staup of Findlay, Ohio; Barb Price (Jane Byrne) of Minneapolis, Minn.; Tom (Amy) Frost of Findlay, Ohio; and Charlie (Jen) Price-Brown of New Boston; 17 grandchildren, Shawn and Ryan Macy of Indiana; Dewayne (Tammy) Price, Louie Price, Billie Price, Tracey Price, all of Ohio; John and Bill Ashcroft of Texas; Charles (Telisa) Price, Britt Price, Jonathan Price, all of Florida; Melissa (Eric) Tostige of Michigan; Sara Price of North Carolina; Shelley Noe, Shannon (Matt) Holley, Stacey (Tim) Cooper and Benjamin Frost, all of Findlay.

Because of her love for baking, especially at Christmas, she was known as “Cookie” Grandma to her nine great-grandchildren: D.J., Megan and Kirsten Price of Ohio; Braxton Macy of Indiana; Tyler and Olivia Holley, Taylor Ellerbrock and Cayd Burton, all of Findlay; and C.J. Price of Florida; two sisters, Mary Weaver and Eleanor Speck, both of Findlay; and two brothers, John Frullo of Findlay, and Joe Frullo of Las Vegas, Nev.

ARTHUR R. CHAPUT
PEMBROKE – Arthur R. Chaput, 80, of River Road, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at his home after a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of the Pembroke-Allenstown area, he was born on Jan. 14, 1924, the son of Henry and Eva (Monty) Chaput.

He was a 1942 graduate of Pembroke Academy.

In 1943, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served during World War II in New Caledonia, British Solomon Islands and the Marianas, where he was wounded in action on Guam. He was a member of Suncook Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2860.

Mr. Chaput worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Suncook for 36 years, retiring as postmaster in 1979.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish. In addition, he was respected as a local expert on timber rattlesnakes.

Family members include his wife of 58 years, Anita (Durant) Chaput of Allenstown; four children; Robert Chaput of Nashua, Michael Chaput of Pembroke, and Dennis Chaput and Claire Watjen, both of Allenstown; seven grandchildren, Melissa Chaput, Christopher Chaput, Nicholas Smith, Carrie Smith, Katie Chaput, Brian Chaput and Renee Chaput; and four great-grandchildren, Damon Smith, Logan Stygles, Parker Stygles and Haylie Smith.

Petit Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

BERTRAND E. PEPIN
GOFFSTOWN – Bertrand “Bert” E. Pepin, 77, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at his home at 49 Orchard Hill Road.
Born in Manchester on May 12, 1927, he was the son of Mathilda (Rousseau) and Albert J. Pepin.

He attended Goffstown schools and resided in Goffstown his entire life.

At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Capital Guam and was decorated several times after the battle at Okinawa.

In 1949, he started the B.E. Pepin Poultry business and conducted business through the Eastern states and Canada.

He opened the Goffstown Truck Center for repair work in 1968. Mr. Pepin and his partner, Peter Jenkins, received the bus contract for eight school buses in 1970, and at his retirement in 1998, the business had grown to 143 school buses and vans.

Mr. Pepin had great faith in his religion and practiced it every day. For 55 years he was an usher at St. Lawrence Church.

He was a self-made man who believed if you worked hard enough, anything was possible, and he helped many others to achieve their goals.

He served on the Goffstown call fire department and was a member of the D.A. Taggart.

Mr. Pepin was an avid hunter and card player. He loved his camp at Maidstone Lake in Vermont, which he built with his sons, and his winters at Marco Island, Fla., spent with many friends.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Theresa.

Family members include his wife of 11 years, Joyce Kohls (Pepin); daughter Suzanne and son-in-law Leon Buxton; son Richard and daughter-in-law Linda; son Donald; and daughter Laurie and son-in-law Jack Carbonneau; stepdaughter Victoria Dunn and stepson Christian Tefft; nine grandchildren, Dwayne, Keith, Matthew, Jaime, John, Samuel, Theresa, Hannah and Ross; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Rita of Arizona; and two brothers, Rudolph of Texas and Emile of Manchester.

Calling hours are scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, at French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 S. Mast St., Goffstown.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, at St. Lawrence Church. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
