VIRGINIA B. WAGNER, 74, of Santa Fe died Monday.
She was born in Torreon, Mexico, the daughter of Salvador Barrena and Virginia Jimenez de Barrena. She was employed by the Santa Fe Public Library for over 14 years and was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her sons, Eric R. Wagner and wife Julie Wittenberger of Santa Fe and Mark E. Wagner; daughter, Michelle P. Wagner; two grandchildren; and many other friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church.

WILLIAM (BILL) G. WHITE, 78, died August 4, 2004 in St. George, Utah.
He was formerly of Santa Fe. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve (Genny); sons, William (Greg) and wife Sally, and Doug; brothers, Durwood and wife Edith, and Keith; four grandchildren;, and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. 988-6400.

FRANK ARGUELLO SR., 81, of Ranchos de Taos died Monday. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in the European Campaign and was a prisoner of war for nine months in Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Epimenia Arguello; children, Yolanda Martinez and husband Frank, Frank Arguello Jr. and wife Concha, Andres Arguello and wife Joella, Michael Arguello and wife Mannie, Dennis Arguello and Ruben Arguello and wife Evelyn; 10 grandchildren; sister, Josefa Garcia and many other relatives and friends. ISABEL CASTILLO of Raton died Saturday in Albuquerque. She was born in Cañoncito, the daughter of the late Jacobo G. and Luz Guruled, Valdez. She was a devoted school teacher for 35 years, having taught school in Las Vegas, N.M., Mora, and Van Houten. She retired from teaching at Longfellow School in Raton. She was a member of St. Patrick-St. Joseph Catholic Church of Raton, Delta Kappa Gamma, Sorosis Club and a member of the New Mexico Education Association. She was preceded in death by her first husband Onorio Filangi and second husband Guillermo Castillo; parents, and sister, Cruzita Valdez Gilbert. She is survived by her special nephew, James A. "Jim" Gilbert and wife Rose of Albuquerque. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick-St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton, (505) 445-2622.

CONNER ROYAL QUINTANA, 36, died Sunday due to a motorcycle accident. He loved his life and family and strived for peace and happiness while finding contentment with his animals. He is survived by his wife, Dana; daughters, Karri and Stacy; mother, Susan MacDonell and husband Tom; father, Ronald E. Quintana and wife; and many other relatives and friends. Burial will take place at 5 p.m. today at the Madrid Cemetery. 690-2420.

ELIDA CLOSE CARPENTER RAGLE, 85, of Santa Fe died Aug. 31. She was born in Cave Springs, Ga. She left Cave Springs for Santa Fe in the 1930s to work at the New Mexico School for the Deaf as a physical education teacher. She met her husband when he was hired to teach her and the other new teachers how to drive. She was married in 1938. She had six children and managed to run the Mobil Service Station at the corner of Galisteo and Water Street for 20 years with her husband. They operated several car rental businesses from offices within La Fonda, on Shelby and at the airport. She and her husband invested in land around Santa Fe and other surrounding areas. She played an important part in the Founders of the Rodeo De Santa Fe. She was active in Eastern Star and DAR. She loved fishing and hunting with her family. She had a genuine love of nature and animals. She loved to tell Southern hunting and fishing stories. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She often could be seen at many of the Santa Fe High School volleyball games. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Ragle; sons, Paul Ragle, Jr. and Charlie G. Ragle; daughter, Barbara Ragle; brothers, Harper, Bill, and Arthur Carpenter; sister, Clara Talbot; and parents, Lizzie Mae and A.D. Carpenter. She is survived by her children, Diana Balich and husband Nick of Scottsdale, Ariz., Margaret (Maggie) Ragle and friend John A. Tubbs of Santa Fe; son, Norman Ragle and wife Linda of Lake City, Colo.; 19 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday at McGee Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Santa Fe, 1605 Old Pecos Trail followed by burial at the Fairview Cemetery. McGee Memorial Chapel Mortuary, 983-9151.

BEN G. LOPEZ, 68, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Sunday. He was born in Española to the late Benito Lopez and Ruperta Quintana. He was married to Emily Vigil in 1979 in Las Vegas, N.M. He served in the U.S. Army as SP4(T), (E-4). His speciality was Heavy Weapons Infantry. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged in 1960. He retired in 1994 from Las Vegas City Schools where he taught drivers education, sociology, history, and he was the high school golf coach. He enjoyed traveling in his R.V., gardening, and barbecuing. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. He is survived by his wife, Emily J. Lopez of the family home in Las Vegas, N.M.; children, Sandra Casaus and fiance Herbert Lucero of Albuquerque, Victor Perea and wife Mary Ann and Carol Ortega and fiance Arnold DeAguero, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; four grandchildren; close friends, Manny Baca and wife Emma and Willie Sanchez, all of Las Vegas, N.M. and Ray Gonzales and wife Jovita of Anthony; sister, Laura Martinez and husband Rubel of Española; brothers, Robert Vigil and wife Agnes of Santa Fe, Phillips Vigil and wife Sylvia, David Vigil and wife Minnie, and Henry Vigil, all of Albuquerque, and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the same church. ALVIN M. MARTINEZ, 37, of Chimayó died unexpectedly Saturday. He loved to draw and paint. He was preceded in death by his father, Medardo Martinez; brother, Medardo Martinez Jr., and half sister, Renee Martinez. He is survived by his children, Anthony, Martin, Calvin, Angelique and Leo; companion of 20 years, Gloria Silva of Chimayó; mother, Martha Aragon of Chimayó; sister, Amy Chavez and companion Ricky Torrez of Cordova; close nieces and nephews, Gabriel and Ashley of Española; Lorraine of Cordova and Juanito of El Llano; and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held at 5 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayó with burial to follow at the Potrero Cemetery in Chimayó.
