PATRICK J. DURAN, 56, of Santa Fe died suddenly Thursday.
He was born in Santa Fe, the son of Feliberto and Maria Duran. He married Barbara Duran in 1971. He was employed as a mail carrier from 1971 to 2002 and served the National Guard from 1982 to 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Duran; sons, Robert Duran and wife, Rachael; Thomas Duran and wife, Sandra, and Eric Duran; parents, Feliberto and Maria Duran; brothers and sisters, Evelyn Alvarado, Henry Duran and wife, Kathy, and Jerry Duran; three grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. today at Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Church with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

YVONNE B. GASCA, 23, of Velarde died unexpectedly Friday.
She was very family oriented and always wore a smile. She loved to be with her friends, go camping and listen to music. She was a kindhearted person who would do anything to help anybody in need.
She is survived by her parents, Horace and Bertha Gasca of Velarde; brothers, Miguel Gasca and companion Kim of Las Cruces and Thomas Martinez and wife, Holly, of Chimayo; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde with burial to follow at the Catholic Cemetery in Velarde.

FERNANDO J. HERRERA, 24, of El Rito died Friday following injuries sustained after being struck by an automobile.
He worked in construction and was a firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Sam Chacon.
He is survived by his father, Rudy Herrera of El Rito; mother, Beatrice Gonzales and husband, Andrew, of South Shadow Mountain; sister, Mary Alice Montoya and husband, Ray, of Alcalde; brother, Vicente Herrera of Alcalde; half sister, Arlene Lewis of Colorado; half brother, Manuel Herrera and wife, Frankie, of Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 5:30 p.m. today in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary to follow at 6 p.m. and a wake to begin at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at San Juan de Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito with burial to follow at Placitas Cemetery in El Rito.

JEANNE MARY JORDT, 81, of Marco Island, Fla., died suddenly Friday.
She was born in Chicago, the daughter of Mae and William Anderson. She married Robert Carl Jordt in Elmwood Park, Ill., in 1944. She was a former Confirmation of Christian Doctrine (CCD) teacher. She belonged to the Sailing Association of Marco Island and the Marco Island Yacht and Sailing Club. She served on the board of directors of the Art League of Marco Island, Fla., U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) and a Regional Championships participant.
She was preceded in death by her son, William Arthur Jordt.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Jordt; daughters, Penelope Litteken and husband, Arnold, and Kathleen Stamets and husband Russell; sons, Gregory Jordt and wife, Xiao Yun; and Jeffery Jordt; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association.

GEORGE LUCERO, 67, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Wednesday at St. Vincent Hospital.
He was born in Rociada and attended Las Vegas High School. He was a Korean War Veteran and entered the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Jason, and touring Japan, Okinawa and Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1957 in San Francisco. He served with the national Guard Unit in Las Vegas, N.M., for 14 years. He was married to Frances G. Lucero in Las Vegas, N.M., in 1957. He was active with the city of Las Vegas Little League as coach and umpire. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 408 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post No. 14 in Albuquerque. He retired from the N.M. Department of Transportation, Division Four, after serving 34 years. He was a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and a lector and usher at the 6 p.m. Saturday Mass for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Natividad Lucero.
He is survived by his wife, Frances G. Lucero of Las Vegas, N.M.; sons, Joseph Lucero and wife, Genevieve, of Albuquerque and George Lucero Jr. and wife Amanda of Ft. Rucker, Ala.; daughter, Christine Lucero and fiancé, Eric Conteras of Las Vegas, N.M.; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at the Immaculate Conception Church, 811 Sixth St., Las Vegas, NM 87701.

SELINA R. PADILLA, 86, of Llano de San Juan died Wednesday after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Pablo Romero and Margarita Cordova; husband, Jose S. Padilla; and son, Ernesto Padilla.
She is survived by her sons, Frutoso Padilla and wife, Lila, of Utah, Margarito Padilla and wife Martha of Montana, and Jerry Padilla and wife, Gloria, of Montana; daughters, Teresa Blanco, and Olivia Sanchez and husband Silviano, all of Llano, and Diana Vidaurre and husband Alberto of Taos; brothers, Ernesto Romero and wife, Andrieta, of Llano Largo, Jose Pablo Romero Jr. and wife, Julia, of Albuquerque, Miguel Romero and wife, Doris, of Questa, and Carpio Romero and wife, Juanita, of Penasco; sisters, Ernestina (Marina) Cruz of El Valle and Felicia Steinberg of Albuquerque; 21 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

SARA DOWSON PRESTWOOD, 86, of Los Alamos died Oct. 15.
She was born in Bement, Ill. Following graduation from Washington University in St. Louis she moved to New York City and became a nurse at Cornell Medical Center. In 1943 she came to Los Alamos to participate in The Manhattan Project. It is there, while working as a nurse, she met her husband, Rene J. Prestwood, whom she married in 1944. She was employed for many years at the Los Alamos Medical Center as a registered nurse and later in occupational medicine at Los Alamos National Laboratory. She retired from LANL in 1984. She was devoted to her family and loved animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Blanche Dowson; and sister, Wilberta Jane Dowson.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Gayle Kalt of New York City; daughters, Jennifer Borden and husband, Barry, of Charlotte, N.C., Linda Anderson and husband, Allan, of Los Alamos, and Patti Cole and husband, Eric, of Santa Fe; one grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
In celebration of her life, please come for hors d'oeuvres and music from 1-4 p.m. at Casa Sena restaurant, 125 E. Palace Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, any animal charity, or any charity of your choice.
