MARTIN MARTINEZ, 82, of Fairview died Aug. 30 after a long illness.
He worked for the Zia Company for 30 years and retired in 1985. He loved to farm and was a family man. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Petrita Martinez; and sons, Mike and Johnny Martinez.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Martinez; sons, Danny Martinez and wife Martha, Freddie Martinez and companion Wilma Espinoza, Martin Martinez Jr. and wife Denise, all of Fairview; daughters, Josefita Trujillo and husband Richard of Rio Chiquito, Nora Duran and husband Rudy of Albuquerque, Linda Martinez and companion Lonnie Montoya; step-daughter, Mabel Sanchez; sisters, Eulalia Pacheco and Carmen Martinez, both of Chimayó; brothers, Senon Martinez and Donelia of Los Lucero, and Amadeo Martinez of Chimayó; 16 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Sept. 2 at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with burial to follow at 1 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

MARTINA HERRERA, 95, of Santa Fe, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, died Thursday surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in Ojo de la Vaca on Nov. 8, 1909, to Manuel and Rosario Martinez, she attended a one-room school in the village and attended Mass when a priest was available at San Miguel Parish. She met and married Cliofes Herrera in November, 1926, at St. Anthony's church in Pecos and then settled her family in Santa Fe. This union produced 13 children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Rosario Martinez; children Rosey, John Michael and Jake; her brothers Ben Martinez and wife Helen, John Martinez and wife Ernestina, Sam Martinez and Moises Martinez, and her sister Feliz Lucero and husband Max.
She is survived by her sister Victoria and husband, Tom Chavez; and sister-in-law Juanita Martinez; her children Christine Sullivan and husband, John; Colette Herrera; Charles Herrera and wife, Priscilla; Louis Herrera and wife, Virginia; Viola Garcia and husband, Lino; Gloria Herrera, William Herrera and companion Gloria Keahbone; Virginia Ortiz and husband, Rumaldo; Ray Herrera and wife, Dolores; Martha Herrera; 28 loving grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Berardinelli Family Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. A mass of Christian burial will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Cathedral followed by internment at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank all those who remembered Martina in their prayers, the nurses and therapists who helped her at Casa Real nursing home, and the people at Odyssey Hospice Group.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donation to the San Isidro Building Fund.

CHRISTOPHER PAUL XAVIER MONTALVO, 17, a resident of Alcalde and a senior at Pojoaque High School, died Wednesday of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was full of life and passionate about sports, school, music and above all, his family and friends. His many accomplishments and activities included: American Legion Boys State; National Honor Society; Who's Who in American High School Students; Who's Who in American High School Athletes; Point Guard College; N.M. Air Flight Basketball (AAU-National Tournament Finalist); Hoop It Up; UNM Lobo Basketball Camp; PHS Basketball (State Tournament Team Member); Soccer; Cross-country; Football; Track; Pojoaque Boys and Girls Club; and acting as a role model and mentor to youth in these academic and sports programs.
Chris was known for his energy, strength, and enthusiasm, but he also had a gentler and patient side that he shared with the young and old alike, especially his grandparents, special cousins, and other young friends he mentored. After numerous knee reconstruction surgeries and a donor ligament tissue transplant, Chris became a grateful proponent of organ donation. His family has honored his desire to pass on the gift of life through his own organ donation.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joe Percy Lujan. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Mary Rose, brother Nathaniel, and sister LeeAnne; grandparents, Pablo and Fedelina Montalvo of Cordova and Josie E. Lujan and great-grandmother Magdalena Espinoza, of Chimayo; aunts and uncles, Mary Esther and Tom Lucero, Mary Jo Lujan and Kenny Martinez, Mary Beth Lujan, Mary Margaret and Steve Ney, Joel and Desiree Montalvo, Gus and Mier Lugo, Jerry and Geraldine Lugo, Robert Lugo, Lloyd Vigil, Lloyda Vigil, and numerous close cousins, friends and relatives. Very special friends include Richard Herrera, Jose Castellano, and Carlos Lucero. He was also fond of the Pojoaque boys and girls soccer, basketball and cross country teams.
The family sincerely thanks everyone for their heartfelt love and support during the loss of Chris. His life, though brief, deeply touched his family, friends, school, church and community.
Visitation and rosary will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Ben Lujan Gymnasium in Pojoaque. The time and place of the Mass of Christian Burial and will be announced.

JOSE AMABIL AGUILAR, 75, of Velarde died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005 after a short illness.
He had been a sheep herder in Wyoming. He enjoyed playing cards, being outdoors and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isa Aguilar and Reyecita Medina Aguilar; sister, Lucia A. Vigil and husband Luis Ernesto Vigil; brothers, Anselmo Aguilar and Jose Oracio Aguilar; and sisters, Mabel, Erlinda and Oralia Aguilar.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Phil Aguilar and wife Bennie of Chamita, Alicia Casias of Grants, Pauline Cardeñas of Velarde and Gilbert Aguilar and wife Naomi; and many other relatives and friends.
A public visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. today in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 31 at the San Miguel Catholic Church with burial to follow at the El Valle Catholic Cemetery.

AGUEDA "AGGIE" ARCHULETA, 69, of Ranchitos died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, after a long illness.
She was a homemaker who loved gardening and cooking. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Urban Archuleta; son, Frankie Archuleta; parents, Salamon and Josephina Salazar; and brother, Audoro "Mongo" Salazar.
She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Archuleta and companion Ricky Dixon, Grace Lopez, Shirley Dixon and husband Dino and Rosemary Urbina and husband Leo; sister, Margaret Cata; seven grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Services have taken place.

JACK M. DONAWORTH, 70, of Angel Fire died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005.
He retired as a naval aviator after 21 years in the U.S. Navy in 1974 and also retired from Sandia National Laboratories as a field engineer and instructor. He currently taught AARP driver safety courses in Angel Fire.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gail R. Donaworth; son, Jack M. Donaworth III (Meg); two granddaughters; and sister, June Smith of Philadelphia.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, September 1 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Footprints Grief Center of Hospice of Metro Denver, 501 S. Cherry St., Suite 700, Denver, CO 80246; (303)321-2828.
