Duane G. Wraight

AVOCA - Duane G. Wraight, 86, died Thursday morning, Jan. 25, 2007 at his home at 4350 Waterbury Hill Road, after a short illness.

Born in Prattsburg on Dec. 14, 1920, he was a son of the late George and Ester Smith Wraight. On July 10, 1940, he was married in Prattsburg to the former Doris Graham, who survives.

A resident of Avoca for the past 57 years, Duane was employed for 23 years for Steuben County, retiring as Director of Weights and Measures.

He was a charter member of the Wallace Fire Department and was a past master and member of the Mason for over 50 years.

Duane loved to fish, ride motorcycles and snowmobiles and enjoyed the time he spent on the farm and cutting fire wood.

His family includes his wife of 66 years, Doris; his four children, Clark Wraight of Texas, Carole Wraight of Bristol, Stephen (Sandra) Wraight of Ithaca, James Wraight of Bath; his seven grandchildren, Hugh, Jennifer, Kristi, Carole, Sarah, Seth, Michael; his three greatgrandchildren, Makayla, Jacob and Mason; his brother, Gordon (Helen) Wraight of Florida; his two sisters, Helen Fulmer of Canisteo and Shirley Manroe of Bath; also his nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his greatgrandson.

A funeral service was held in his memory at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Avoca United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sande Thomas officiating, followed by a memorial service conducted by the Avoca Masonic Lodge.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to either the Avoca Masonic Lodge or the Wallace Fire Dept.

Robert Earl Almond

CAMPBELL - Robert Earl Almond, age 85, of Campbell died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007 at Corning Hospital.

Bob was born in Yeadon, Pennsylvania on Dec. 16, 1921, to Joseph and Mary (Bircher) Almond. He married Amanda DiPaolo and was preceded in death by her in 2002. He was preceded in death by two sisters Ruth Seeley and Doris Larsen. Robert served in the Army during World War II in th e 773rd Tank Destroyer Battalion, which was attached to the 90th Infantry Division. He was a veteran of the Normandy, Ardennes and Rhineland campaigns and received the Distinguished Unit Citation (Falaise Gap), Croix de Guerre avec Palm, and the Purple Heart. He was employed as a freight conductor for 42 years with the Pennsylvania Railroad/Penn Central/Conrail. He was member of the Campbell United Methodist Church, Coast Guard Auxiliary, United Transportation Union Retirees, Charles E. Wescott Post 173 of the American Legion and was life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bob enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and working in his gardens. His survivors include daughter, Diane (Wayne) Huggler of Campbell; a son, David (Cathy) Almond of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Amy Stenoish, Pamela Nelson, Matthew, and Corrine Almond; several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service of Celebration will be held today, Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Campbell United Methodist Church, 8516 Main Street, Campbell with Rev. Betty Bement officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Corning.

The family will provide flowers and ask that donations be made to the Campbell United Methodist Church, Vision Fund, 8516 Main St., Campbell, NY, 14821.

Janet M. Dolliver

BATH - Janet M. Dolliver, age 75, of Evergreen Street, Bath died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. She was born in Avoca, May 28, 1932 the daughter of Preston and Edna Love Stone. Janet was a 49 year employee of Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport.

She is survived by five daughters, Bobbie (Robin) Havens of Bath, Vicki (John Martin) Hedden of Bath, Debra (Edwin) Loucks of Bath, Laurie (Michael) Cragg of Hammondsport and Jamie (Mo) Suliman of Ontario; grandchildren, Aaron (Kim) Hedden, Matthew (Nicole) Hedden Lisa Ann Smith, Tony Lawton, Wendy Lawton, Nick Towner, Ryan Towner, Corey Havens, Darren Havens, Katie Cragg, Alie Cragg and Jim Cragg; great grandchildren, Brenna Leanne Hedden, Dakota Havens and Andrew Havens; two sisters, Lillian Sullivan and Mildred Gavette and four brothers, Bill Stone, Mansel Stone, Theron Stone and Donald Stone. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Dolliver, grandson, Andrew Lawton and brother Wendall Stone.

Calling hours were held on Oct. 16 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. at the funeral Home with Reverend J. Brad Benson officiating. Burial was in Nondaga Cemetery, Bath.

Memorial contributions in Janet's name may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Edward T. Faber

BATH - Edward T. Faber, 88, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007 at Ira Davenport Hospital.

Family and friends called on Monday, Oct. 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Bottoni-Wood Funeral Home, 4 Mechanic St., Prattsburgh. Ed's service was held at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 4 Porter St., Prattsburgh, with Rev. Edward Spencer officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ed's name to: Bath Volunteer Ambulance, 110 E. Steuben St., Bath, NY 14810.

Edward was born on Feb. 10, 1919 in Peplin, Wisconsin, the son of the late John and Mary Circus Faber. He enjoyed farming, gardening and his family.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mildred Prior Faber; daughters, Diane M. Stanley, Patricia Faber, Kathleen Beatty; grandchildren, April and Kathy Stanley, Steven and Nicole Beatty; great-grandson, Hunter Stanley; five sisters and one brother. Ed is predeceased by his son, Edward T. Faber, Jr.; granddaughter, Michelle Beatty; four brothers and one sister.

Frances Anne World

Frances Anne World, age 82, of Penn Yan, NY died Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the Homestead Nursing Home in Penn Yan, New York. Services for Anne will be private at the convenience of her family. Anne was born in Corning, New York on December 17, 1925, the daughter of the late J. Harold and Frances M. Webster Markert. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul D. World on June 25, 2006. She is survived by her children, John World (Debra), Greg World (Lisa), Ellen Conklin (Jerry), Elizabeth Forance (Michael), and Mary Anne York (Jonathan); grandchildren, Denise Hayden, Michelle, Heather, Lauren, and Carolyn World, Christine Strack, Douglas and Lee Weinberg, and Christopher Forance; great grandchildren, Benjamin and Cecilia Lanir and Austin Frost.

Nancy J. Hoad

Nancy J. Hoad, age 59, of 49 Chapel St., Prattsburgh, NY died Monday, September 22, 2008 at home. Friends and family may call at the Bottoni-Wood Funeral Home, 4 Mechanic St., Prattsburgh on Thursday, September 25th, 2008 from 4pm to 7pm. Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September, 26th, 2008 at 11am with the Rev. Don Peek officiating. Interment will follow at Rural Cemetery in Prattsburgh. Memorials may be made in her name to the Prattsburgh Central School or to the school of one’s choice. Nancy was born on January 2, 1949, the daughter of the late Ernest and Florence Lynk. She enjoyed preparing meals and catering for the senior citizens, weddings, school banquets, and graduations. She was a toy demonstrator for years and was employed as a cook supervisor with the Prattsburgh Central School. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Nancy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Richard ‘Dick’ A. Hoad; children, Richard ‘Ricky’ (DaeAnn) Hoad, Jr. of Warsaw, Todd (Tina) Hoad of Prattsburgh, Jason (Joanne) Hoad of Woodhull, Rhonda (Jason) Frost of Beaver Dams, Jerry Klock of Savona, and Billy (Ginger) Hoffman of Weston; grandchildren, Dustin, Daryn, Rykki, Steven ‘Dobber’, Danielle, Cory, Kirk, Renee, Sydney, and Caytlynn; step-mother, Anna Lynk of Hammondsport; brothers and sisters, Dennis Lynk of Leroy, Katherine Gilbert of Bath, Raymond Lynk of Pavillion, Jack Lynk of Wheeler, Lillian Para of Hammondsport, Helen Lynk of Addison, Norma Reynolds of Bath, Marion Perry of Hammondsport, Albert Reese of Florida, Kenneth Reese of Florida, Jesse Barrett of Florida, and Leonard Reese of North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Ernie, Jim, and Al Lynk; and her sisters, Arleda ‘Pete’ Shaut and Deloris ‘Dee’ Billings.

Carol Kay Quackenbush Pease

Carol Kay ‘Quackenbush’ Pease, age 51 of Pepper Rd., Bluff Point died Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at F. F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY Friends and family may call at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan on Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 1pm to 4pm. Her funeral will be held at the funeral home immediately following at 4pm. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Penn Yan on Monday, September 22 at 10am. Memorials may be made in her name to the Cancer Support, C/O Bernice Thompson, Yates County Public Health Office, Penn Yan, NY 14527 or to the Humane Society of Yates County, 1216 State Rte. 14A, Penn Yan, NY 14527. Carol was born in Penn Yan, NY on February 15, 1957, the daughter of the late George and Rose Klube Culver. She was employed for many years with the Yates County Public Health Office in Penn Yan and was a member of the Branchport Fire Dept. Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, boating, hiking, gardening, and cooking. The family wishes to extend a loving thank you to the Yates County Public Health Office, the Branchport Fire Dept., and to the many friends and family that offered their wonderful support. Carol is survived by her husband, Gerald; son, Steve (Racheal Derrane) Quackenbush; daughter, Jennifer Quackenbush; sisters, Phyllis (Ron) Fritz and Laurie (Robert) Dauberman; her cat, Marbles; dog, Samantha; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Patrick B. Sullivan, age 80, of Dundee, NY died Friday, September 12, 2008 at Soldier’s and Sailor’s Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan following a battle with lung cancer.
