Finley, Richard I. “Dick”

PALMYRA - Passed after a courageous battle with Leukemia at age 75 on October 1, 2012. Survived by his loving wife Betty Finley; loving children, Donna (Bill) Dollar, Richard (Julie) Finley II, Craig (Carrie) Finley & Tim (Jan) Finley; step-sons, Ron & Mark Cassidy; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barb (Jim) Cady, Nancy (Lloyd) MacLean & Bonnie (Harry) Weise; brothers, Butch (Shirley) Roberts, Ralph (Marge) Everett; several in-laws & many special friends. Dick was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather & great grandfather. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, remodeling houses, restoring antique trucks, & talking with friends. Friends & family may call Friday 1-4PM at Payne & Murphy Funeral Home 1040 Rt. 31, Macedon, where his Memorial Service will immediately follow at 4PM. Interment will be private. Metcalfe, Daniel

Penfield, NY – Army SFC Daniel Metcalfe passed away Saturday, September 29th while on patrol in Afghanistan at the age of 29. He was an eleven year Army veteran based in Vicenza, Italy and was deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan. He met his wife, Vesna in Italy, married in 2005 and they have three children, Alexis, 6, Edward, 3 and Ethan, 11 months. Daniel is survived by his wife, Vesna, 3 children, his father, Thomas Metcalfe, mother, Sherri Metcalfe, brother James, sister Debi (Joe) Hill, brother Jesse Warren, nephew Max Hill, daughter from previous relationship Kaitlyn Miderker, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Daniel will be buried in Arlington National cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the Payne & Murphy Funeral Home located at 1040 Route 31, Macedon on Thursday, October 4 at 11 am. A reception for family and friends will be held at East Penfield Baptist Church at 1 pm. No prior calling hours are available. Donations in his honor may be sent to Patriot Guard Riders, 6399 Lake Ave, Williamson, NY 14589 or Blue Star Mothers NY 1 at PO Box 426, Bloomfield, NY 14469.

DeBruyne, Gerald "Jerry"

MACEDON - Peacefully on September 28, 2012 at the age of 78. Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Gladys; daughter Patti (Frank) Dunn; 2 sons, David (Amy) and Timm (Susan) DeBruyne; his grandchildren, Shaun, Kyle (Elizabeth), Trevor, Alex, Marena, Kira and Marshall (Amanda) and great grandson Frankie.

Jerry was born and raised in Newark, served in the United States Army, graduated from the University of Rochester and was a trusted financial advisor to his many clients for over 50 years. Jerry enjoyed his grandchildren, playing cards, golf and going to the stock car races.

All are invited to call on Monday, October 1st, from 5-8PM at the Payne & Murphy Funeral Home, 1040 Route 31, Macedon. A celebration of Jerry's life will be offered on Tuesday, October 2nd, at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church, 58 Main Street (Route 31 in village), Macedon. Interment Private. Memorials in memory of Jerry may be directed to the Church's new entrance fund, or the American Heart Association.

Mommer, Charles W. “Chuck”

MACEDON - Died peacefully on September 20, 2012 at age 91. Predeceased by his wife Eulalia “Polly” Mommer; 3 brothers Russ, Harold, Joe; 4 sisters, Alice, Theresa, Harriett, Charlotte. Survived by son Craig A. Mommer; stepchildren, Donna (Neal) Smith, Stanley Wayne (Mary Elizabeth) Halvorsen, Rick B. (Mary Ann) Halvorsen; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandson. No prior calling. Services will be held privately. Jackson, Edward F.

PALMYRA - Died September 20, 2012 at age 64, surrounded by family & friends. Predeceased by his father, Eugene Jackson & brother Brian Jackson. Survived by loving wife Barbara Johnson; mother Mary Jackson; loving father of Dan, Mike & Carrie Jackson; siblings, Allen, Rick, Gary, Cheryl, Sue & Kevin; loving grandfather of Caitlynne, Megan, Shaylee & Kasey; many nieces, nephews & cousins; & many dear friends. PALMYRA - Peacefully on September 13, 2012 at the age of 62. Predeceased by her parents Harlan and June Hilton. Nancy is survived by her longtime companion Bob Boland; children Shannon Rush and Joseph Wood; Sisters Esther (Paul) Rogalski and Barbara (Richard) Stalker; brother Harlan (Robin) Hilton III; Uncle Bernard (Marie) Hilton of Florida; stepmother Lillian Winn Helfer Hilton; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bentzel, Robert F.

ARLINGTON, TX: Formerly of Ontario, NY died on September 8, 2012 at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas at age 89. Survived by his wife Betty, children, nieces, nephews other family and friends. Robert served in the Army Air Corp. from 1943-1945. He retired from Burroughs Corp. There will be no prior calling. All are invited to attend his graveside service on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the Furnaceville cemetery, Trimble Road, Ontario, NY. MACEDON - Died suddenly on Sept. 4, 2012 at age 66. Cullen, Douglas H.

ONTARIO - passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on August 28, 2012. Predeceased by his parents Pauline & Theodore Cullen & brother James Cullen. Survived by his loving & devoted wife of 51 years, Mary Alice Cullen; sisters Patricia Willsea & Virginia (Daniel) Abamonte; children, Douglas Cullen, Debra Bock-Cullen, Dan (Ellen) Cullen, Dean (Sara) Cullen; grandchildren, Kevin, Brian, Steven, Tyler, Greg, Paul, Sean, Jason, Jeff, Gavin, Donovan & Samantha; many cousins, nieces, nephews & friends. Doug was originally from Alexandria Bay, NY where he enjoyed time on the St. Lawrence River hunting, fishing & waterskiing. He graduated from RIT in 1961, worked for Dollinger Corporation & North American Filter Corporation.
Family & friends are invited to call on Thursday, August 30th from 5-8 pm at MURPHY FUNERAL HOME 1961 Ridge Rd., Ontario, NY. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 31st at 11am at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church 5823 Walworth Rd., Ontario with reception following in the church hall. Burial private.

Skwieralski, Nancy J.

WALWORTH - Died August 27, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents Clifford & Beryl Dean & brother Cliff Dean. Survived by her husband Edward; children, Marshall (Suzanne) McFarland, Gary (Betsy Sampson) McFarland, Tricia Skwieralski; grandchildren, Marshall (Stephanie Mouton) McFarland, Tanya (Craig Kotwas) McFarland, Brent McFarland, Sarah Estleford, Brittany Estleford, Kari (Aaron Earl) Gardner, Shaun (Sarah) Gardner, Abby Underwood “Grammy’s Little Angel” who kept her going these last 15 months; great grandchildren, Kaelynne Sampson, Savannah McFarland, Vance Kotwas, Cameron McFarland, Connor Earl; brother Donald (Nancy) Dean; sister Mabel Dean. Nancy loved riding her lawn mower. She was an avid gardener, made tons of quilts, & was the queen of garage sales. She will be deeply missed but will be loved forever.

Rugg, Raymond Albert, Sr.

GENEVA: Died August 26, 2012 at age 80. Predeceased by brother Carl Pilbeam & son Justian Rugg. Surviving Raymond is a large & loving family; wife Jean; children, Star (Elwood) Balliet, Raymond A. (Sharon) Rugg, Jr., Miles (Donna) Rugg, Keith (Maria) Rugg, Lennie (Donna) Rugg, Regina (Sam Oswald) Rugg, Kittie (David) Palmer, Nettie (Robert) Reardon, Marie (Mike) Stivers, Patty Artley, David Daggett, Bill (Cindy) Williams; also many grandchildren; great grandchildren, & great, great grandchildren; sister Ruth Hill; brothers, David (Norma) Rugg, Richard (Tammy) Pilbeam.

Graham, Jason Dean

Brockport/MARION - Died instantly in a car accident on August 19, 2012 at the age of 39. Jason leaves his wife, Kelli; daughters, McKayla & Alysa; step-son Aaron Howell, leaving a huge hole in their hearts. Also survived by his mother, Linda (Gordon) Hill; sisters, Darlene (Tommy) Salerno, Cassandra (Chris) Boerman & Jennifer (Elliott) Hill; step-mother Kelley Graham; nieces, Sierra Graham, Brooke & Sadie Salerno, Kristin & Leah Boerman. Predeceased by his father Jerry Graham. Jason’s passions were numerous as were his jokes. Nothing meant more to Jason than his wife, children & family.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, August 24th from 1-5PM with a Service at 5:30PM at the PAYNE & MURPHY FUNERAL HOME 1040 Route 31, Macedon. In lieu of flowers, an educational fund is being established for his children through M&T Bank.

Triest, Doris M.

FARMINGTON - Died on August 20, 2012 at age 94. She is predeceased by her husband Alfred Triest, Sr., son Arthur Triest, parents Frank & Elizabeth Mahon. She is survived by her son Al (Babette) Triest, Jr.; grandsons, Rick, Terry (Jean), Tim, Paul; great grandchildren, Christopher, Cory, Connor, Sarah. She was a retiree of Elmgrove Kodak, & also worked at Brueggers, Greece, & YMCA, Driving Park. She was a member of the Can Do Club, Rochester, & the Macedon Garden Club. She will be missed by her family & friends, especially at Farmington Gardens. The family would like to thank the nurses & aides at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, Canandaigua, NY for their kindness & care during her stay there, & especially at the end. No more "Hurry Up".

Powell, Richard J. “Dick”

PENFIELD - Age 87 of Elderwood Court, went home to the Lord on August 15, 2012. Predeceased by his son John. Survived by his wife Sonya (Baker); son Peter (Terrie); daughters, Deb (Jim) Carey, Anne (Jim) Mitchell, Mary (John) Loftus, Janet (Jack) Burns, Peg (Steve) Dietl; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara (Al) Lubowicki, Betty (Bill) Patterson; brother Jim (Marie) Powell; & several nieces & nephews.
Dick was a graduate of Moira-Brushton High School, Triple Cities College, & Syracuse University. He was an officer in the Army Air Corps during WWII in Asia. A teacher & administrator for the Vestal, NY School District, Dick & wife, Sonya, enjoyed a 29 year retirement in Pawleys Island, SC where he was very active in his church. During his retirement years, Dick served as an officer for Habitat for Humanity, & a member of the statewide Social Justice Committee for the Catholic Church. Dick & his wife, Sonya, returned north in 2011 to be closer to family near his daughter, Peg & son-in-law, Steve Dietl.
Many will remember his engaging storytelling skills & incredible memory for good jokes. Dick was an outstanding athlete whose basketball scoring record at Triple Cities College (now Binghamton University) in Endicott stood for 25 years. Most importantly, Dick will be remembered by family & friends for his devotion to his wife of 62 years, his seven children & his six siblings. He was a man of great faith & warmth & will be missed by all whose lives were touched by these qualities.
All are invited to call Friday, August 17 from 6-8PM at MURPHY FUNERAL HOME 1961 Ridge Rd, Ontario. His Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday, August 18 at 1PM at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, Ontario. Burial private. Emil passed away peacefully to the race track in the sky on August 15, 2012. Survived by his loving wife Jane; sons, Emil, Peter (Justine); daughters, Patti (Tom) Shultz, Nicole; loving grandfather to Jessica (Dustin), Gregory (Kristina), Ashley, Brooke, Hunter; father through marriage to Wendy (Paul) Kostrzebski, Jeff (Tammy) Bove, Heidi Berrios, Betsy (Jose) Hernandez; grandfather through marriage to Joey (Melissa), Terri Lynn, Kaylin, Brittani, Ty, Bailey, Landon & Preston. Spencer, Elizabeth Abbott “Lizzy”

Peacefully left us on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Golisano Children’s Hospital with her family by her side. Lizzy, age 9, was diagnosed with brain cancer in June 2011. Lizzy fought courageously and will forever be remembered for her vibrant personality and room-lighting smile. Lizzy made an indelible impact on all those who came in contact with her and will be deeply missed.
Lizzy is survived by her parents, Andrea and Jim; brother Jon; maternal grandmother Tam Abbott of Palmyra; fraternal grandparents Bev and Marty Mihalenko of Fairport and Jack and Sue Spencer of Cheektowaga; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Lizzy now joins her grandfather Bud Abbott, great aunt Wally Abbott, uncle Joe Robusto and cousin Peter Sargent.
All are invited to call at the Payne & Murphy Funeral Home, 1040 Route 31, Macedon, on Friday, August 17 from 4-8PM. A celebration of Lizzy’s life will be offered on Saturday, August 18 at 11AM at the Western Presbyterian Church, corner of Main St. and Church St., Palmyra. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Lizzy may be directed to the following organizations that provided support and assistance through Lizzy’s treatment: CURE Childhood Cancer Association of Rochester 200 Westfall Road, Rochester, NY 14620 and The Wayne County Children’s Cancer Fund PO Box 61, Sodus, NY 14551.
In keeping with Lizzy’s bright spirit, those attending the visitation and/or celebration of life service are asked to wear her favorite colors of green and blue.
