Naomi C. Pratt, 97, of Syracuse, died Friday. Born in Syracuse, she graduated from Syracuse University College of Fine Arts, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. She retired in 1972 after 16 years as an art teacher with the West Genesee school district and Valley and Corcoran high schools in the Syracuse City School District. She was a member of the Asa Danforth Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and the Onondaga Art Guild. She also taught art for the DeWitt Recreation Generation. Her first husband, Elliot Case, died in 1950; her second husband, Minot Pratt, died in 1988.Survivors: Three daughters, Joan C. Ebel of McLean, Va., Ellen C. Anderson of Syracuse and Linda C. Osadchey of LaFayette; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse. Josephine A. Protzman

Josephine A. Gross Protzman, 79, of Syracuse, died Saturday at Iroquois Nursing Home. Born in Waterloo, she lived in Syracuse for more than 50 years. She was a homemaker. She was a volunteer at Elmwood Presbyterian Church's food pantry. Her husband, David, died in 1985.Survivors: Two daughters, Mary Anne Shewell of Nedrow and Gretchen Nakayama of Houston; three sons, Paul of Austerlitz, Stephen of Grass Valley,  Calif., and Robert of Sacramento,  Calif.; a sister, Agnes Beck of Canandaigua; five grandchildren. Services: 7 p.m. Tuesday at Butler-Badman Funeral Home. Burial, private. Calling hours, 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 4504 W. Seneca Turnpike, Onondaga Hill.

Carolyn A. Rhinehart

Carolyn A. Rhinehart, 68, of Chittenango, died Sunday. Born in Chateaugay, she lived in Chittenango since 1956. She graduated from the State University College at Brockport and received her master's degree from Syracuse University. She retired in 1989 after 33 years as a physical education teacher in the Chittenango school district. She was girls varsity basketball coach for 28 years, girls varsity softball coach for 18 years and also coached girls varsity volleyball and field hockey. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association.Survivors: A sister, Evelyn LaMay of Oswego; a brother, Emerson Rhinehart of Chateaugay. Services: None. G.F. Rev. Donald W. Rush

The Rev. Donald W. Rush, 73, of Jamesville, died Saturday. Born in Schenectady, he graduated from Colgate University and Union Theological Seminary. He retired in 1992 after 39 years as a minister. He served at Jamesville Federated Church for 13 years, Erwin United Methodist Church for seven years and Park United Methodist Church in Hamilton for four years. He was a member of University United Methodist Church. He had been a chaplain for the Onondaga County corrections department.Survivors: His wife of 50 years, Marion A.; a daughter, Catherine R. Osinski of DeWitt; two sons, Paul S. of Liverpool and Andrew W. of Fredericksburg, Va.; three grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday in University United Methodist Church. Burial, Walnut Grove Cemetery. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Fairchild & Meech Syracuse Chapel, 500 W. Onondaga St., Syracuse. Florine Dunham Sawyer, 89, of 433 Oxford St., Oneida, died Friday. Born in Constantia, she graduated from Constantia schools. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Oneida. A son, Wayne E., died in 1999.Survivors: Her husband of 62 years, William B.; a son, Neil W. of Wisconsin. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, 260 Main St., Oneida. John F. Wood Jr.

John F. Wood Jr., 81, of Camillus, died Saturday. Born in Baldwin, Long Island, he lived in Camillus for 30 years. He was an accountant for MONY in Syracuse. He was an Army veteran of World War II.Survivors: His wife of 54 years, the former Edna C. Sprengel; a son, Edward J. of Maryland. Services: None. Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus, has arrangements.

Walter Barlow

Walter Barlow, 80, of Syracuse died Saturday. He was born in Syracuse. He retired in 1986 from Hubbs & Howe in Syracuse after several years and was a civilian employee at Griffiss Air Force Base during World War II. He was past master of the former William S. Farmer Masonic Lodge, now known as Crossroads Lodge 520, Free & Accepted Masons. He was a member of Scottish Rite in the Valley of Syracuse, the York Rite and Tigris Shriners in Liverpool.Survivors: None known. Memorial services: 3 p.m. Thursday in Erwin First United Methodist Church, 930 Euclid Ave., Syracuse. Burial,  White Chapel Memory Gardens. No calling hours. J. Charlotte Andrews Beginski, 87, of 13 E. Seventh St., Oswego, died Monday. A life resident of Oswego, she was a homemaker. She was a former member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her husband, Albert, died in 1980; a son, Albert J., died previously.Survivors: Three daughters, Jessie Nearbin and Catherine Beginski, both of Oswego, and Charlotte Peterson of Syracuse; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
