Ruth Mason
EDGERTON - Ruth E. Mason, 82, Edgerton, died at 11:41 a.m. Sunday in Community Hospitals of Williams County-Bryan.
She was born June 7, 1918, in Montpelier, the daughter of Howard and Eva (Stockman) Mason. In 1938, she married Lowell Mason, who died in 1998. She worked at the former Syncrotech, Edgerton.
Surviving are a son, Lowell, Edgerton; a daughter, Betty Tustison, Edgerton; a sister, Virginia Mann, Camden, Mich.; and four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Also preceding her in death were four brothers and a sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Rev. Tony Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Visitation will be from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to the Diabetes. Foundation.

Wilda Shreckengost
EDGERTON - Wilda C. Shreckengost, 80, Edgerton, died at 5:45 p.m. Friday in Community Hospitals of Williams County-Bryan.
She was born April 9, 1920, near Franklin, Pa., the daughter of Harry and Ruth (Karns) Bean. In 1943, she married Norman Shreckengost, who died in 1987. Prior to her retirement, she was a mental health aide at Polk school and state hospital, Polk, Pa., and lived in Cochranton, Pa.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Margaret) Olson of Edgerton and Mrs. Gerald (Nancy) Leamer, Cochranton; and four brothers, three sisters, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were four brothers.
Services will be held in Cochranton with Ronald Dickson Funeral Home handling arrangements. Local arrangements are being handled by Krill Funeral Service, Edgerton.

Hildegard Bortz
HOLGATE - Hildegard (Dee) Dehnbostel Bortz, 59, Holgate, died Saturday afternoon in Holgate Quality Care Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 11, 1941, in Henry County's Freedom Township, the daughter of Otto and Luella (Meyer) Dehnbostel. In 1961, she married John Bortz, who died in January. She was a homemaker, an employee of Denver Alexander Photo Studio, Napoleon, and a member of William F. Helmke American Legion Post 340 Auxiliary, Holgate.
Surviving are her mother, Napoleon; a son, Tom, Napoleon; three daughters, Mrs. Kevin (Tammy) Vajen of Napoleon, Mrs. Jake (Julie) Dominique of Archbold and Mrs. Dan (Jean) Dietrich, Malinta; three sisters, Mrs. Jim (Phyllis) Silveous of Napoleon, Mrs. Kent (Norma) Ruffer of Archbold and Mrs. Bill (Carol) Ruffer, Bryan; and eight grandchildren and a stepgrandchild.
Also preceding her in death were her father; a sister, Betty Wittenberg Schwiebert; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John's United Church of Christ, Holgate, with Rev. Gerald Mallott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the Center for Progressive Supernuclear Palsy or the church.

James Culbertson
MONTPELIER - James H. Culbertson, 85, Montpelier, died Sunday afternoon in Dilworth Center, Montpelier.
He was born June 21, 1915, in Butler, Ind., the son of James and Edith (Kettering) Culbertson. In 1936, he married Georgette Musser, who survives. He was employed for 37 years at Norfolk & Western Railroad, retiring in 1980. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe, and was awarded the Purple Heart and five Bronze Stars. He was also a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 109, VFW Post 944, DAV post, Moose Lodge 312 and Masonic Lodge 547, all of Montpelier.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Patricia) Davenport, Edon; a brother, H. Dale, New Haven, Ind.; a sister, Thoris Richmond, Pioneer; and two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Leslie; and three sisters, Jane Lewis, Ruth Little and Barbara Knowles.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier, with Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, with military rites accorded by Montpelier veterans' organizations. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice or Dilworth Center.

Ruth Speice
PAYNE - Ruth H. Speice, 85, Payne, died at 10:40 a.m. Saturday in Paulding County Hospital, Paulding.
She was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Grover and Faye (Waldron) Riley. She married Dwight Speice, who died in 1989. She retired from Dana-Weatherhead Corp., Antwerp, and was a member of Payne Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are a son, Ray, Payne; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Slade Funeral Home, Payne, with Rev. Michael Harper officiating. Burial will be in Lehman Cemetery, Payne. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to the church's building fund.

Mary Ann Hobbs
PAULDING - Mary Ann Hobbs, 93, Paulding, died at 1:20 a.m. today in Dallas Lamb Foundation Home, Payne. She was the widow of Melvin Hobbs. Arrangements are pending at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.

Robert Thomas
PAULDING - Word was received of the Nov. 30 death of Paulding County native Robert G. Thomas, 71, Silver Springs, Fla., in Marion County Regional Hospital, Ocala, Fla.
He was born Jan. 28, 1929, in Paulding County, the son of Paul and Mary (Touhy) Thomas. In 1948, he married Delores Sprow, who survives. He worked at General Portland in Paulding for 17 years and Standard Sand and Silica, Silver Springs, until his retirement. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulding.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Linda) Jackson, Paulding; two sons, Daniel of Tallahassee, Fla., and Robert, Silver Springs, Fla.; two sisters, Ursula Hoste of Antwerp and Eleanor Justinger, Paulding; two brothers, John Clark of Clearwater, Fla., and Wolford Clark, Fort Wayne; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Paul Clark; and a sister, Margaret Clark.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Live Oak Cemetery, Paulding. Handling arrangements is Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.

Alexis Adams
Alexis Rae Adams, Defiance, was stillborn at 6:56 a.m. Tuesday in Defiance Hospital.
She was the daughter of Jamie Adams, Defiance.
Also surviving are grandparents, John and Cindy Adams, Oakwood; and great-grandparents, Ray and Joan Pier of Antwerp, Jim and Mary Buckley of Eldorado, Phil and Pam Adams of Cecil and Bob and Erlene Strait, Iowa.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood, with Rev. Carol Retcher officiating. Burial will be in Blakeslee Cemetery, Charloe. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.

Margaret Tapp
BRYAN - Margaret Faye Tapp, 60, Bryan, died Monday morning in her residence.
She was born Oct. 11, 1940, in Kentucky, the daughter of Oscar and Mary (Lands) Browning. She was an environmental technician at Community Hospitals of Williams County-Bryan and a member of Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233.
Surviving are a son, Brian, Bryan; a daughter, Mrs. Howard (Anna) Koch, Bryan; two brothers, Hubert Coghill of La Porte, Ind., and James Daggs, Little Rock, Ark.; a former husband, Dick Caulkins; and four grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, April; and a brother, William Daggs.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home, Bryan, with Rev. Jeff Woolum officiating. Burial will be in Shiffler Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to the Margaret Tapp memorial fund.
