ARTHUR "PRETZEL" L. HULL
ARTHUR "PRETZEL" L. HULL, 70, of Seabrights Lane, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Ohio State Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.
He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on August 3, 1937, the son of the late Wilbur W. and Margaret A. (Dichtenmiller) Hull.
He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Steubenville Plant and Arrow Concrete of Columbus. He was a member of Saint John's Luthern Church; a member of B.P.O.E. Lodge # 231; former Eagles Lodge; Baseball Civics and Booster Club all of Martins Ferry and the Bridgeport Eagles. He also coached Martins Ferry Civics Baseball and Softball and coached the Eastern Ohio Colt League.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, Orville, Alfred and Wilbur; one sister, Margaret Szeckacs.
He is survived by his wife, Elmira G. (Morgan) "Jo" Hull; daughter, Angela (Jack) Tittle, Duncan, Oklahoma; son, Arthur (Christy) Hull, Bethel, Ohio; daughter, Stacey (Brad) Heathcote, Bellaire, Ohio; daughter, Tina (Jeff,) Morgan, Amelia, Ohio; daughter, Kelly Hull, Bethel, Ohio; brother, Daniel (Carolyn) Hull, West Palm Beach, Florida. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Philip K. Van Dam officiating.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
Elks Lodge #231 held services at the funeral home Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio State University, Cancer Center, Rhodes Hall, Columbus, Ohio 43210 or St. John's Luthern Church, N. 4th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.

LUCY K. BENLINE
LUCY K. BENLINE, 93, of S. 3rd Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
She was born in Spencer, W. Va. on December 9, 1914, the daughter of the late Charles W. and Lettie E. (Epling) Webb.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Benline, three sons, Charles W., Clifford L., and Norman L. Benline.
She is survived by her daughter, Katherine I. Benline, Martins Ferry; grandson, Richard Benline, Martins Ferry; two granddaughters, Lettie E. (Nathan) Reardon, Westerville, Ohio; Anna Marie (Fred) Burghy, Byesville, Ohio. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Saturday, March 14, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr., officiating.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

GEORGE W. "CORKY" LAASE, SR.
GEORGE W. "CORKY" LAASE, SR., 81, of Stockport, Ohio and formerly of Martins Ferry, Ohio, died at Tuesday, March 18, 2008 in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on January 24, 1927, the son of the late George F. and Mary E. (Horvath) Laase.
He was a retired employee Wheeling Pittsburg Steel, Martins Ferry Plant and the former Feher's Poultry & Meats of Martins Ferry. He was a member of the Redmen's Club, former Eagles and Local Steelworker's Union, all of Martins Ferry. He served in the U. S. Army during W.W. II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Caprita.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret M. (Stupak) Laase; son, George W. (Angie) Laase, Jr., Martins Ferry; daughter, Lauren M. (Doug) Kitchen, Batavia, Ohio; granddaughter, Carrie Ann (Anthony) Whitehead, Steubenville, Ohio; grandson, George W. Laase, III, Martins Ferry, Ohio; granddaughter, Kassandra Nedved, Batavia, Ohio; granddaughter, Kayla Kitchen, Batavia, Ohio; grandson, Kody Kitchen, Batavia, Ohio; great granddaughter, Rachel Marie Whitehead, Steubenville, Ohio; great granddaughter, Amber Gamble, Clarksville, Tenn.; brother, Robert Laase, Deluth, Minn.; two sisters, Lillian Butler, Martins Ferry and Shirley Pelkowski, Mercer, Wis.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence officiating.
Interment followed in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
The Belmont Co. of the Veterans of Foreign Wars gave give military honors Saturday at 10:45 a.m.

JOY M. BUREK
JOY M. BUREK, 77, of S. 3rd Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio and formerly of Walnut Street, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 in East Ohio Regional Long Term Care.
Joy was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on March 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Edith (Conway) Hood.
She was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church and a retired employee of the former Antler Cafe both of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by seven brothers, and seven sisters.
She is survived by daughter, Nancy (Jim) Powell of Martins Ferry; two brothers, Paul and Sonny Hood; two sisters, Phyllis Walker and Evelyn Snedicker; two grandchildren, Dawn Scott and Shaun Powell; great grandson, Wesley Scott.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Keller Funeral Home, 615 Hanover Street, Martins Ferry where friends will be received Friday, March 28, 2008 from 6 until time of service at 8 p.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.

MARY M. MILLER
MARY M. MILLER, 65, of Jefferson Street, Bellaire, Ohio, died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at her residence.
She was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on September 17, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John and Priscilla M. (Simms) Huston.
She was a former employee of Riesbeck Grocery, St. Clairsville, Ohio. Mary was a member of South Bellaire Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Bill and Ralph Huston; and two sisters, Lillian Snider and Bernadine J. Kiedaisch.
She is survived by two daughters, Tamerra L. Huff and Shelly A. Saracenna; two brothers, Paul J. and Enoch E. Huston; two sisters, Mabel L. Albasin and Ruth J. Sanders; companion, James F. Littleton. She is also survived by several grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ron Morgan officiating.
Interment followed in Armstrong Mills Cemetery, Armstrong Mills, Ohio.

SHIRLEY E. CARVER
SHIRLEY E. CARVER, 73, of Spence Lane, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
She was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on March 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Harold Bell and Evelyn (Shivlin) Honecker.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Martins Ferry, Ohio.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Carver.
She is survived by two daughter, Kim (Kevin) Tierney, and Susan Moore, both of Martins Ferry, Ohio; two sons, Jay (Debbie) Carver, Denver, N. Carolina and David (Deana) Carver, Iron Station, N. Carolina; six granddaughters, Katie and Krisi Tierney; Samantha Moore; Kelley, Krista and Tyler Carver; two grandsons, Michael Moore; Zackery Carver.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Thomas A. Magary as the celebrant.
Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, W. Va.
Wake Service was held at the funeral home on Thursday at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.

ELEANOR J. LORTZ
ELEANOR J. LORTZ, 78, of Indiana Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, W. Va.
She was born in Bridgeport, Ohio on November 19, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lottie M. (Whissen) Evans.
She was a retired employee of the Reasbecks office formerly of Martins Ferry. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by infant son, Peter Edward Lortz; eight brothers, Robert, Dave, Edwin, Thomas, Edward, Charles, Heyward and George Evans; two sisters, Evelyn Conway and Arzella Fodor.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond W. Lortz; son, Thomas R. Lortz, Tyler, Tx.; daughter, Diane M. (Daniel) Leonard, Powhatan Point, Ohio; three granddaughters, Alexandra "Lexie" D. Leonard, Arianne A. Leonard, both of Powhatan Point, Ohio; Cheyenne R. Lortz, Tyler, Tx.; her beloved dog, Riley; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence officiating.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
The Deacons of the church held services at the funeral home Wednesday at 7 p.m.

DAVID E. RUTTENCUTTER, JR.
DAVID E. RUTTENCUTTER, JR., 24, of Wheeling, WV died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on November 28, 1983, he was the son of David E. Ruttencutter of Martins Ferry, Ohio and Stacy K. (Myers) Ruttencutter of Redington Beach, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Frederick Ruttencutter.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by brother, Joshua J. Ruttencutter, Wheeling.; Fiancee, Catherine M. Oldenburg, Wheeling; paternal grandmother, Hazel Ruttencutter; maternal grandfather, Wilbur Myers and maternal grandmother, Kay Gonzales.
Memorial services were held at the funeral home Monday, June 30, 2008 at 7 p.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.
