D. Edna Gordon
(1904 - 2006)

MONTPELIER - D. Edna Gordon, 102, a longtime Montpelier resident, died early Saturday morning, April 15, 2006, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan following a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 4, 1904, in Ney, to Achsa (Figley) and Albert Motter, she married L. Claude Gordon on June 6, 1925, and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1994.
She had been a Montpelier resident since 1934 and a Bryan resident since 1999.
A homemaker, she was a 1921 graduate of Bryan High School and a member of Central United Brethren Church, Montpelier.
Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Debra E. Gordon of Bryan; two grandchildren, Timothy and Nicole Gordon, both of Bryan; two great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Preston Gordon; two stepgrandchildren, Mrs. Mike (Aubrey) McCandless of Defiance and Mrs. Matt (Jenny) Meyer of Montpelier; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Caitlyn McCandless, Camryn McCandless and Braeden Meyer.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, L. Vaughn Gordon on April 14, 2001; seven brothers, James, Rudolph, Albert, Leland, Lester, Martin and Kermit; and eight sisters, Lottie, Maud, Florence, Jessie, Achsa, Willow, Margery and Viola.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Miller to officiate. Burial will be in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Doris M. Burkmire
(1918 - 2006)

MONTPELIER - Doris M. Burkmire, 87, of Montpelier, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Montpelier.
Born Nov. 12, 1918, at Montpelier, she was the daughter of Nellie R. (Street) and M. Ray Shaull.
A lifelong Montpelier resident, she graduated from Montpelier High School in 1936. She was a homemaker and had also worked at Beam-Stream in Montpelier for a few years.
She was a member of the Montpelier Church of Christ.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Turner and Mrs. Steve (Nancie) Brannan, both of Bryan; a son, Bill (and wife, Sherri) Peters of Montpelier; a stepson, Jerry Burkmire of Jackson, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Harold (Joyce) Stemen of Montpelier; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Catherine Ann Henry.
Visitation will be held Monday from 4-8 p.m. in the Thompson Funeral Home-Montpelier.
Private services will be held Tuesday in the funeral home with Dean Phillips to officiate. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier.
Memorials may be made to the church or to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Hospice.

Maxine M. Croninger
(1919 - 2006)

WEST UNITY - Maxine M. Croninger, 86, of West Unity, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at the Dilworth Center in Montpelier.
Born June 1, 1919, at Alvordton, she was the daughter of Mary (Long) and John Taylor.
A graduate of West Unity High School, she was a housewife and homemaker.
She was a member of the Silver Creek Brethren Church in Pioneer and a former member of the Brady Grange.
Surviving are a son, Larry (and wife, Karen) Croninger of Grabil, Ind.; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Shirley) Carder of West Unity and Mrs. Larry (Nancy) Miller of Bryan; nine grandchildren, Mrs. Charles (Julie) Klinger of West Unity, David (Sara) Carder of Cumming, Ga., Brian Carder of Bryan, Mrs. Rex (Robin) Workman of Woodland Park, Colo., Neil Croninger of Plymouth, Ind., Mrs. Brent (Cortney) Scare of Fort Wayne, Ind., Sean (Stephanie) Miller of Medina, Stuart Miller and Sara Miller, both of Bryan; and 10 great-grandchildren, Kylie and Neil Klinger of West Unity, Tyler and Jacob Workman of Woodland Park, Colo., Lacey Carder of Bryan, Gage Croninger of Plymouth, Ind., Anna, Ben and Sam Carder of Cumming, Ga. and Megan Miller of Medina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gale Croninger; second husband, Carl Croninger; a granddaughter, Michelle Croninger; and two brothers, Hugh and Frank Taylor. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. in the Hollingshead-Beck Funeral Home, West Unity.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Silver Creek Brethren Church in Pioneer with the Rev. Terry Baldwin to officiate. Burial will be in the West Franklin Cemetery, Fulton County.
Memorials may be made to the Silver Creek Brethren Church.

Rosalyn O. Houk
(1939 - 2006)

MONTPELIER - Rosalyn O. Houk, 66, of Montpelier, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at the Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Montpelier.
Born Oct. 3, 1939, in Montpelier, she was the daughter of G. Marie (Hillard) and Herbie M. Mercer. On March 21, 1959, in Angola, Ind., she married Lyn B. Houk, and he survives.
A homemaker, she was a 1958 graduate of North Central High School in Pioneer and attended West Bethesda Presbyterian Church in rural Montpelier. She was a member of the Idol Knots Club.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Randy (and wife, Tracie) Houk of Pioneer, and Ryan (Kim) Houk and Robert A. Houk, of Montpelier; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Renee) Daft and Mrs. Ed (Robin) Yagelski, of Montpelier; nine grandchildren, Justin, Jesse, Joni and Jenna Houk, Parker and Peyton Houk, Josh and Joel Daft, and Andrew Yagelski.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Ricky and Allen Mercer; and a sister, Janet Seeman.
Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the West Bethesda Presbyterian Church in rural Montpelier, with the Rev. Tawee Layraman officiating.
Memorials may be made to the West Bethesda Presbyterian Church in rural Montpelier or to Gideons International.

Royce L. Stahler

MONTPELIER - Royce L. Stahler, 67, of Montpelier, died Sunday, April 23, 2006, at his residence.
He was the husband of Diana Kay Stahler.
Arrangements are pending at Thompson Funeral Home-Montpelier.

Naomi Zimmerman

EDGERTON - Naomi Zimmerman, 64, of Edgerton, died Saturday evening, April 22, 2006, at Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville.
Service arrangements are pending at Krill Funeral Home-Edgerton.

Maxine L. Donaldson
(1911 - 2006)

MONTPELIER - Maxine L. Donaldson, 95, a longtime Montpelier area resident and recently of Bryan, died Saturday, April 22, 2006, at The Brian Center, Windsor, N.C., following a lingering illness.
Born April 15, 1911, in Oakwood, to Emma Rose (Rheese) and Lawrence L. McVay, she was a 1929 graduate of Oakwood High School. She married Clarence O. "Skinny" Donaldson and he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1983.
A homemaker, she had been a Montpelier area resident since 1937, and was widely known in the area as a baker of wedding and anniversary cakes.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Montpelier; Spring Lake Grange; Eagle Creek Garden Club; and Lillian Chapter No. 41, Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth (and wife, Kay) Donaldson of Edenton, N.C.; three grandchildren, Brenda Clifford (and friend, Scott Pollick) of Bryan, Steven Donaldson of Bryan and Scott (Anita) Donaldson of Arlington, Va.; four great-grandchildren, Trevor Clifford, Jared Clifford, Kieran Donaldson and Lily Donaldson; and a brother, Bernard (Elladene) McVay of Leesburg, Fla.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Willard McVay, and five sisters, Dolores Minnick, Eleanor McCormick, Marjorie Donaldson, Wilhelmina Moore and infant Claudine Marie McVay.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Damschroder to officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier.
Memorials may be made to the Stained Glass Window Fund of First United Methodist Church.
