Marjorie King

Marjorie Marie Spoerl King, age 85, of Zanesville Ohio, passed away at 6:54 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2003 at the Marion General Hospital, Marion Ohio. She was born October 4, 1918 in Zanesville, the daughter of the late Carl and Alice Butts Spoerl. Mrs. King was retired from Ohio Bell Telephone and the U. S. Airforce Depot. She was a member of the St John's Lutheran Church, the Bethesda Hospital Guild where she received her 50 year pin, served as a Bethesda Hospital Volunteer for over 50 Years, a member of the Lady Elks Auxillary # 114, and a member of Zanesville Junior Women. Mrs. King was a graduate of the Zanesville High Class of 1937.

Surviving are her husband, Robert E. King of Kingston Residence, Marion, one daughter, Marcia (Glen) King Waugh of Olympia Wash., one son, Robert E.(Jo Ellen) King 11 of Marion, three grandchildren, Elizabeth King of Marion, Tucker R. Waugh and John H. Waugh, both of Olympia Wash., and one sister, Ruth (Jud) Boley of Columbus Ohio

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister Eloise Springer and one brother Carl Spoerl.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2003 at the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with the Rev. Alden Towberman officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 am Friday till service time. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.

Memorial contribution may be made to the Bethesda Hospital Guild

Carl C. Fell

Carl C. Fell, 72, of Zanesville died at 8:00 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2003 at his home. He was born September 26, 1931 at Zanesville, Ohio a son of the late Ben and Bonita Crosby Fell. He retired from Armco Steel as a Truck Drive, was a member of New Waterford Abundant Life Fellowship Church, had been a deputy Sherrif for the Muskingum Co. Sherrifs Department, and the Marshal for the Dresden Police Department. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid train collector.

Surviving are his wife, V. Diane Myers Fell, whom he married October 26, 1974, of the home, three daughters, Penelope " Penny " McKinney of Zanesville, Linda ( Skip ) Varner of Pastakala and Cathy Barger, one son, Carl Daniel Fell of Zanesville, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, three brothers, Robert ( Betty ) Fell of Granville, Bernard ( Shirley ) Fell of Butler, PA and Gerald ( Faith ) Fell of Lima, many nieces and nephews including special nephew Chance Garvin and Carl's adopted family, Gregory and Melanie Sprouse and their children, Malory, Emily and Natalie Sprouse.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Fell and Jay Fell.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2003 with Pastor Gregory Sprouse officiating. A caring cremation will take place after the funeral.

Katherine Bell

Katherine Bell, age 90, of 3784 Frazeysburg Rd., Zanesville, Ohio, passed away at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, December 14, 2003 at the Genesis Bethesda Hospital. She was born July 31, 1913 in Falls Twp., Muskingum County the daughter of the late Fred and Fannie Dickey Kelly. Mrs. Bell was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, a former active member of the Women's Association of the church, a member of the Richvale Grange and the Muskingum County Farm Bureau.

Surviving are two daughters, Fannie and husband Bob Brill of Chandlersville and Pat and husband Dick Humphrey of Nellysford Va., two sons, James and wife Bernice Bell of Zanesville, and Richard and wife Nancy Bell of Los Alamos NM., six granddaughters, Jill Danklefsen, Julie and husband Lew Ladocsi, Theresa and husband Miles Bauman, Winnie and husband Jim Priest, Kelly and husband Steve Cullen, Kathy and husband Tim Garbett, fourteen great grandchildren, one sister in-law Elizabeth Bell of Frazeysburg, two brothers in-law, Alvin and wife Mary Elinor Bell of Columbus, and Lawrence Elliott of Norwich, many nieces nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband C. Edwin Bell, who died September 8, 2002, by her step mother Mae Butler Kelly,who died January 1966, by a sister Mildred Louise Frizzell, by a niece and a nephew, and a sister in law and two brothers in-law.

Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2003 at the Central Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ray Morrison Officiating. Burial will follow at the Dresden Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Presbyterian Church.

Patricia Ann Smith

Patricia Ann Stotts, 66, of Zanesville died at 9:25 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2003 at Genesis Hospice- Morrison House. She was born August 15, 1937 at Zanesville a daughter of Marjorie Roberts Butler Ansel of Zanesville and the late William Dallas Butler. She was a caregiver for Genesis Caregivers for over eight years, was a member of Washington Twp. Baptist Church. Patricia enjoyed spending time with her family.

She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Rebecca ( Randy ) Middleton of Nashport and Karen Sue ( Tom )  Taylor of Zanesville, three sons, Michael ( Terry ) Stotts of Zanesville, Danny ( Christine ) Stotts of Coshocton and Mark ( Samantha ) Stotts of Zanesville, thirteen precious grandchildren, Julie, Sheryl, Garrett, Katlyn, Wyatt, Ryan, Erica, Seth, Markette, Corey, Bryce, Logan and Jennifer, four great grandchildren, two sisters, Mona ( Tom ) Roberts of Zanesville and Shirley ( Bob ) Belcher of York, SC., two brothers, Dallas ( Pam )Butler of Indian Lake and Stephen ( Bonnie ) Butler of Zanesville, many nieces and nephews.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Eugene Stotts and one great grandson, Nathan Stotts.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at The Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003 with Pastor L. Dale McCallister officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Twp. Baptist Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice.

HAROLD E. JONES

Harold Eugene Jones, age 76, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at his residence. He was born July 6, 1927 in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of the late William B. and Grace Plumley Jones. Mr.  Jones was a laborer at the Armco Steel Corp. where he worked for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Armco Veterans Club, the Muskingum Valley Beagle Club, and a Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Mary L. Gadd Jones,whom he married April 18, 1951 of the home, one son and wife, David M.and Molly  Jones of Zanesville, one sister Roberta Smith of Zanesville, two brothers, Donald W.  Jones of Temple Terrace, FL., and Gerald R. Jones and friend Marlene Lough of Zanesville.Two granddaughters, Jennifer  Jones and fiancee Terry Roede of Frazeysburg, and Rikkie  Jones and fiancee Cyril Pletcher of New Lexington. Four great grandchildren, Linzee Sims, Haylee Pletcher, Karlee Pletcher, and Devin Roede. Several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son.

Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2003 at the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville.Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2003 at the Bolin Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Keyser officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Robin R. Strauss

Robin R. Strauss, 43, of Zanesville went to be with her Lord at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 7, 1960 at Zanesville, Ohio a daughter of Elbert " Bunk " and Sarah Norman Strauss of Zanesville. She was a clerk for the Licking Co. Sheriffs Office and a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She is survivied in addition to her parents, two wonderful brothers, Joe ( Tina ) Strauss of Zanesville and Jay ( Candace ) Strauss of Rodondo Beach, California, one nephew, Cameron Strauss and one niece Madison River Strauss. She leaves her wonderful cat Caley, who she loved dearly, maternal grandmother, Stella Norman of Pleasant City and many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Joe and Hattie Strauss, Maternal grandfather, Herbert Norman, also several aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2003 at The Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and one hour prior at the church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2003 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 128 South Seventh Street, Zanesville with Pastor Keith Lingsch officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice.

Jane L. Wolfe

Jane L. Wolfe, 85, of Zanesville died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at Genesis Bethesda Hospital. She was born April 19, 1918 at Zanesville a daughter of the late James and Lucy Wood Krause. She was retired from Ohio Bell Telephone Company, a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Rayna Wolfe and one son Richard M. Wolfe II both of Columbus, four grandchildren, Mark Wolfe, Erik Wolfe, Amanda Wolfe and Katie Wolfe, one sister, Virginia " Ginny " Sutton of Zanesville.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Wolfe.

No calling hours or services will be held. A caring cremation has taken place with burial at Maplewood Cemetery, New Lexington at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of The Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville

Robert E. Lucas

Robert E. Lucas, 80, of Zanesville, died at 11:40 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2003 at Genesis Hospice- Morrison House. He was born March 8, 1923 at Muskingum Co., Ohio a son of the late Rolley and Lenna  Jones Lucas. He retired as a Bus Mechanic for Y-City Transit Co, was a member of Mt. Sterling united Methodist Church, a World War II Army Veteran, D.A.V., POW, Lifetime member of American Legion, and was known as the Lawn Mower Man, because he loved to fix other peoples lawn mowers.

Surviving are three daughters, Sue ( Ted ) Clark, of Zanesville and Charlotte Harbor, Fla, Karen ( Jeff ) Adair of Zanesville and Sharon ( Daniel ) Thiesen of White Cottage, two sons; Donald ( Nora ) Lucas of Gallipolis and Dick ( Ronda ) Lucas of Norwich, former wife, Mary E. Lucas of Zanesville, three sisters; Kathleen Wilkins of Woodstock, Georgia, Lillian ( Joseph )  Jones of Danville, VA. and Emma Sue ( Roger ) Johnston of Zanesville, daughter-in-law; Roberta " Bobbi " Lucas of Zanesville, eleven grandchildren; Kevin Clark, Staci Maynard, Donald Lucas, Jr., Brian Lucas, Michael Lucas, Sue Ann Lucas, Rachel Kirby, Jeffrey Adair, Justin Adair, David Paul and Thomas Paul, seven step-grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death besides his parents, one son, Terry " Butch" Lucas, an infant daughter, and sister Charlotte Hartman.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at The Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2003 with Rev. Charles Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Sterling Cemetery, Hopewell, Ohio.VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold military rites at the grave.

Edward J. Sorrell

Edward J. Sorrell, age 92, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away at 8:22 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2003 at the Genesis Bethesda Hospital. He was born July 9, 1911 in Glouster Ohio the son of the late Bert and Martha Williams Sorrell. Mr. Sorrell retired 1976 as a maintenance supervisor in the Machine Shop at the Brockway Glass Co.after 44 years of service. He was a member of the Coburn United Methodist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge of Amity # 5 F & AM, a member of Rosa Shrine # 8, a member of the Y Bridge Holiday Ramblers 333 and the Brockway Glass Camping Club.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Best Sorrell whom he married July 22, 1933 of the home, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Marguerite Smith, Cathryn Angle and Maxine Jackson.

Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2003 at the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at the Bolin Funeral Home with the Dr. Dennis Baker officiating. Masonic services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
