Sister Rose Michael Weber, educator
Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Rose Michael Weber, an educator and writer, died Monday at Mother Margaret Hall nursing home in Delhi Township.
The Denver native belonged to the order for 56 years.
She began teaching in Cincinnati at St. Boniface and then at St. Lawrence schools, but spent most of her 25 years as an educator in Colorado. She returned to the motherhouse in 1968 and worked as a secretary and data processor before spending 14 years serving in hospitals and a retreat center. She retired in 1985.
It wasn't until her latter years that Sister Rose Michael focused on her love of writing. Fourteen of her articles were published in various religious magazines and journals.
"Sister Rose Michael always had a story to tell. She was very entertaining and liked to reminisce about her teaching years," said Sister Mary Agnes McAuliffe. "She was a good friend, and I'll miss her."
She leaves a brother, Louis Weber of Sun City, Ariz.; and sister, Agnes Neill of St. Louis.

Ann Doyle Roach, friend to Ursulines
Longtime Finneytown resident Anne Doyle Roach died Sunday.
Mrs. Roach, 85, helped her late husband John Ployard Roach operate the family business, Wizard Weavers, a textile reweaving company, and was later a founding member of a women's investment group.
Most recently a resident of St. Clare's Retirement Community in Wyoming, Mrs. Roach was a former officer of the Ursuline Mother's Club and the Parents' Club of Mount St. Joseph College. She often did grocery shopping for the Ursuline sisters.
A friend, Sister Cecilia Hubert, remembers both Mrs. Roach and her late husband for having been "a special part of our Ursuline family for many years."
Mrs. Roach leaves four daughters: Sister Joan Roach, O.S.U., Sheila Wiedemer and Mary Christine Roach, all of Cincinnati, and Deborah North of Mansfield; sisters Mary Doyle Adams and Margaret "Peggy" Doyle Berning, both of Cincinnati, and Charlotte Doyle Peters of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; and seven grandchildren.

Laverne Kuhn, aided refugees
Laverne Kuhn, 74, of Western Hills, died Tuesday.
She was a homemaker, a piano and accordion teacher, and was active with St. Antoninus Church in Covedale. Mrs. Kuhn was a former committee member of the Vietnam Relocation Project, a program for refugee families, and was founder of the first Parkinson's Disease support group in Cincinnati.

Jean Earle Brown, 78, president, chairman of the board and director of the Ripley Federal Savings and Loan Association for more than 40 years, died Monday.

Lawrence A. Moore, knew life along river
Lawrence Albert Moore, who died Tuesday at age 57, experienced both the joys and perils of living by the river.
Like his neighbors in Falmouth, Ky., he shared in the tragedy when the Flood of '97 washed over his business this spring. He and his partner, Henry Bertram, lost their auto service business to the flooded Licking River, said Debbie Taylor, a daughter of Mr. Moore.
"He was very happy-go-lucky," she said. "But the flood was hard on him."
Yet in his spare time, Mr. Moore enjoyed fishing. "You could give him a fishing pole and river, and he was very content," she said.
Mr. Moore, who was a U.S. Navy and Kentucky National Guard veteran, also leaves his wife, Betty Wagner Moore; another daughter, Angie Helfrich; stepson, Paul Marks; brothers, Thomas A. Moore and Michael S. Moore; and four grandchildren.
