Ronald Brickner, of Chemed Corp.
Ronald J. Brickner was an enthusiastic supporter of Xavier University and its baseball team.
Mr. Brickner, 63, a retired senior vice president and chief financial officer of the Chemed Corp., died Monday at his residence in Western Hills.
He was a member of the 1952 Elder High School state champion baseball team and pitched for Xavier University. He was a graduate of both schools.
He was vice president of the board at the Western Hills Country Club, a member of XU's Musketeer Club, the Financial Executive Institute and Community Land Development, which helped fund housing for the poor in the West End.
Mr. Brickner also was a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants. He supported Seton High School and "Back to Broadway" of St. Antoninus Parish, a group of amateur performers.
He leaves his wife, Marilyn; son, Jeffrey Brickner of Cincinnati; daughters, Mary Beth Brickner of Dallas, Lisa Brickner and Julie Davis both of Cincinnati; brother, Arthur Brickner; and two grandchildren.
Mass: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Antoninus Church, Western Hills. Visitation 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Harry Meyer & Geiser Funeral Home, Covedale.

Walter Blume, inventor
Businessman and prolific inventor Walter Scott Blume Jr., 75, died Sunday.
A pioneer in bonded permanent magnets, the native Cincinnatian held more than 40 patents in the magnetic industry field.
Mr. Blume founded the Electrodyne Co. of Batavia, Ohio, and was its chairman. The company produces high-energy, bonded permanent magnets, magnetizers and magnetic testing equipment.
In recent years he had moved to Ocala, Fla., although he had not retired, said his son, Walter Scott Blume III.
A decorated World War II Army Air Corps veteran, Mr. Blume began his metallurgy career by inventing the ground-speed indicator for airplanes.
In 1950 he started the Industrial Research and Design Co. Eight years later he patented Plastiform, one of the first high-energy, flexible magnets. During the 1950s he also formed the magnetics division of the Leyman Corp. The Leyman Division was succeeded by the 3M Co.
He was also a commissioned Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth, of Ocala, Fla.; children, Therese Kuhn, Mary T. Blume, Elizabeth M. Leighton, Walter Scott Blume III, and Catherine M. Brinkman; and seven grandchildren, all of Cincinnati.

Percy Maddox, Realtor
Percy Cochran Maddox, a descendant of early settlers of Cincinnati, was among the first women to be licensed as a life underwriter for New York Life Insurance Co.
Mrs. Maddox died Monday. She was 82.
She graduated from Miss Kendrick's Oakhurst Collegiate School, attended Connecticut College for Women and received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Cincinnati.
Mrs. Maddox was a licensed real estate agent in Warren County and a certified tree farmer.
She also was a member of the Cincinnati Woman's Club, the College Club of Cincinnati, Delta Delta Delta Sorority, the English Speaking Union, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, the First Families of Hamilton County and the Ohio Genealogical Society.
Mrs. Maddox leaves her daughters, Melanie Maddox Hunt and Jane Maddox Dumbadze; a sister, Joan Cochran West, and three grandsons.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Norman Chapel, Spring Grove Cemetery. Arrangements: Schaefer & Busby Funeral Home.
