Leroy Hubbard, assembly line supervisor
A Cincinnati manufacturing business will close for half the day today in homage to one of its oldest and best-loved employees, Leroy Hubbard.

The 62-year-old Independence, Ky. man died Wednesday after 43 years of service at Gold Medal Products in Evendale, a company he literally grew up with, according to Mr. Hubbard's wife, Pearl.

"They make popcorn and ice cream machines that make all that goody stuff at the fairs," said Mrs. Hubbard. "He started down on Third Street with them when it first started out and they were very small. Today ... they have over 300 employees. He couldn't wait to go back to Gold Medal. He thought the world of the people that ran it, and they really respected my husband."

Leroy Hubbard, 62, of Independence, died of cancer Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was an assembly line supervisor.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Pearl Hubbard; sons, Rickey Hubbard of Cincinnati and Rusty Hubbard of Morning View; a daughter, Brenda Hubbard of Doyle, Tenn.; brothers, Charles Hubbard of Cincinnati and Paul Wendel Hubbard of Miamisburg, Ohio; sisters, Delores Haney of Loveland, Ohio, Charlotte Shelton, Carol Wilhelm and Pauline Earls, all of Kettering, Ohio, and Viola Shelton of Miamisburg; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 8 tonight at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery, Middlesboro. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042.MALCOLM L. BROWN, 13, of Kennedy Heights, died Sept. 12. He was a student. Wayne Bridges, Post law columnist

G. Wayne Bridges, a Covington attorney who wrote a weekly law column for The Kentucky Post, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospital South after suffering a heart attack at home Friday night. He was 67.

Mr. Bridges, an Independence resident, practiced law in Covington for 40 years. For 17 years, he wrote "You and the Law" for The Post.

Mr. Bridges practiced law with his son, Gailen, and state Rep. Tom Kerr, D- Taylor Mill.

Law was Mr. Bridges' passion, and his family knew he would never retire, said Gailen Bridges.

"He loved law," Gailen Bridges said. "He practiced law the day he died."

Kerr called Mr. Bridges the "most generous man I've ever met." The two were introduced by their pastor 23 years ago, soon after Kerr graduated from law school. Mr. Bridges took Kerr under his wing.

Mr. Bridges also liked to garden and attended church at Calvary Baptist Church in Covington.

Other survivors include his wife of 46 years, Glenna Lancaster Bridges; sons Glen of Morning View and Greg of Independence; a daughter, Jody NeCamp of Independence; a brother, Wendel Bridges of Morning View; a sister, Wanda Stambaugh of Ithaca, N.Y.; and 10 grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, Southern and Tibbatts Avenue, Covington. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial: Independence Cemetery. David Manzler, founded agency, co-wrote books

Business owner and author David Lee Manzler, 64, died Saturday. He was founder and chairman of Equity Analysts Agency Inc., a registered investment adviser firm.

Mr. Manzler, of Indian Hill, was a native of Rochester, N.Y., moving to Cincinnati with his family in 1948. He graduated from Withrow High School, University of Cincinnati and served in the U.S. Army.

After an early career with large insurance companies, he established Manzler Financial Agency in 1972 to specialize in financial planning and pension plans. The company changed its name to Equity Analysts Agency and broadened its scope to include individual investments and pension plan funding.

In 1993, Mr. Manzler started the Analysts Group of mutual funds. He co-wrote two books: "Accumulating Wealth with Before-Tax Dollars" and "Why Universal Life" and was a regular guest on the local TV show, "Greater Cincinnati Business Review."

Mr. Manzler was preceded in death by his previous wife, Margaret Rowan Manzler.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Schlenck Manzler; sons David Manzler Jr., Douglas Manzler and Scott Manzler; a daughter, Diana Cotes; and four grandchildren.

Robert Inkrot, Lance's Book Store owner

Robert E. Inkrot turned a lifelong love of books into his life's work.

Mr. Inkrot, of Clifton, died Saturday. He was 81.

Mr. Inkrot owned and operated Lance's Book Store on Calhoun Street in Clifton for about 45 years, said his son, Robert J. Inkrot of Anderson Township. He sold the business about 10 years ago.

"He's always been a real avid lover of books," said his son, Robert J. Inkrot of Anderson Township.

"He claimed, as a child, he read every book in the Norwood library."

Lance's was a college bookstore that also sold art and engineering supplies. Today, it just sells art supplies.

The younger Inkrot said his father also had a considerable personal library. "Always more books than he could ever read."

Mr. Inkrot was a devout Catholic who attended Annunciation Church in Clifton, where he was active in numerous ministries.

He was a lifetime member and past president of the Clifton Kiwanis Club, first president of the Clifton Business Association, and a charter member of Clifton Town Meeting.

He was a volunteer with various community agencies, including Meals on Wheels, Good Samaritan Hospital and Clifton Senior Services.

Other survivors include his wife, Jean Naberhaus Inkrot of Clifton; two daughters, Christine Schroder and Mary Schroder, both of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren; a brother, H. Clifford Inkrot of Kenwood; and two sisters, Sister of Charity Mildred Inkrot and Ruth Barker.

Friends may call from 3 to 5:30 p.m. today at Miller-Busse & Borgmann Funeral Home, 3464 Central Parkway.

A Mass will begin at 6 p.m. today at Annunciation Church, 3547 Clifton Ave.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the charity of one's choice.

Rev. Philip Kesting, a priest since 1941

The Rev. Philip Anthony Kesting was a Catholic priest with a lifetime of service to his church.

He died Tuesday, at the age of 87, after a long illness.

He served seven Cincinnati parishes over the course of his career as a Catholic priest.

Father Kesting completed his studies in philosophy and theology at St. Gregory Seminary and Mount St. Mary Seminary of the West. He earned bachelor's degrees from the Athenaeum of Ohio and the Teachers' College.

He was ordained by Cincinnati Archbishop John T. McNicholas on June 7, 1941, at SS. Peter & Paul Church in Norwood.

Father Kesting was first assigned to St. Anthony Church in Madisonville. In 1942, he joined the faculty at Elder High School while assisting at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Price Hill. In 1946, he took up residence at St. Rita School for the Deaf and served as a member of the faculty.

In 1961, he was appointed pastor of St. Veronica Church in Mount Carmel. He became pastor of St. Monica Church in Clifton in 1974 and became associate pastor of Our Mother of Sorrows Church in Roselawn in 1978.

In 1983, he began his retirement by serving St. Aloysius Church in Elmwood and then St. Rose Church on Eastern Avenue.

Survivors include his sister, Marty Pickett of Cincinnati.

Friends may call at St. Rose from 9 a.m. Saturday until the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk will preside. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery immediately following.
