Anna Lee Ross Sims

MARION -- Anna Lee Ross Sims, 48, 276 Park Blvd., passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at her home.

Born July 25, 1955, in Steubenville, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Albritton and Susie Ross.

On Oct. 26, 1999, in Marion, she married Donnie R. Sims; he survives in Marion.

She was a packer associate with AHP of Marion, formerly Drypers. She was religiously affiliated with Kings Temple Apostolic Church in Marion. Anna was a wonderful mother and one magnificent companion and wife.

She is survived by a son, Clifton D. Ross, Marion; four stepchildren; two brothers, LaMar (Gerrie) Ross, Marion, Spencer "Gus" Edwards, Garner, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Levi (Lucille) Richardson, Marion, Pamela Holmes, Marion, Mattie Ross, Los Angeles, Calif.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Charlene Ross.

The funeral is 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at King's Temple Apostolic Church with Elder LaMar Ross officiating. Burial is in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to King's Temple Apostolic Church.

Dr. Karl Musgrave

MUSGRAVE

DELAWARE -- Dr. Karl Musgrave, age 65, of Delaware, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Mt. Carmel West in Columbus following a brief illness.

He was born in Jamestown, Ohio, on May 20, 1938, to the late Mayford and Mildred Hardy Musgrave. He grew up on a dairy farm milking 50 cows twice a day. He was Class President at Tipp City High School. He entered The Ohio State University on a baseball and baseball scholarship, where he received his B. A. and D.D.S. degrees in 1963. During his senior year, he was team dentist for the Ohio State football and athletic teams, and editor of the college yearbook.

Following graduation he served as Captain in the U.S. Air Force, serving as dentist and professional training officer. He completed his orthodontic specialty training at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, N. Y. In 1970 he received his master of science degree in cleft palate surgical diagnosis at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Dr. Musgrave was the assistant chairman of Eastman Dental Center's Dept. of Orthodontics, clinical professor at the University of Rochester, and maintained a private practice in Pittsford, N.Y. He became a diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics in 1976.

In 1978 he returned to The Ohio State University where he reorganized the orthodontic curriculum and was chairman of the Department of Orthodontics until 1982. While at Ohio State, he served on the College of Dentistry's Executive and Curriculum committees, and was the chairman of the Great Lakes Society or Orthodontist's Chairman's Committee.

He began practicing orthodontics full time in 1983 with offices in Columbus, Delaware, and Waldo. His son Mark joined the practice in 1992. He also served on the Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors Committee and was a wellness consultant for Nikken. Karl enjoyed helping people and was known for his hard working, passionate and generous spirit.

Karl actively participated in the refurbishing and renovation of several of his homes and offices, was an avid fan, collected turtles, and attended the Liberty Presbyterian Church.

Survived by his wife of 42 years, Kay (Cameron); children, Dr. Mark (Chris) Musgrave of Galena, Jill Musgrave and her husband John Hobbs of Richland, Wash., Pastor John (Betsy) Musgrave of Clayton, N.C.; grandchildren, Connor and Grace of Galena, Larissa, Alison, Monica, Tessa, Mallory of Clayton, N.C.; brothers, Lee (Barbara) Musgrave of West Alexandria, Glenn (Mary) Musgrave of Covington, Ohio; and sister, Barbara Snyder of Troy, Ohio.

Friends may call Sunday 2-6 at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. ( Ohio 36), Delaware. Funeral Services will be held Monday 11 a.m. at the Liberty Presbyterian Church, 7080 Olentangy River Rd., Delaware, the Rev. Marion Redding officiating, interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Delaware, with military honorars provided by the Delaware County Veterans Assoc.

Memorial contributions: Dr. Karl S. Musgrave Memorial Fund, c/o Huntington National Bank, 1750 Columbus Pike, Delaware, OH 43015 to benefit children ministry.

Joann D. Geyer

MARION -- Joann D. Geyer, 66, 884 Bennett St., passed away at 3:23 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at her home.

Born Sept. 7, 1937, in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Dean Dowler and Lucille Stewart Dowler, who survives in Marion.

Twice married, she first married Glenn Combs and he died in 1965. On Aug. 8, 1969, in Marion, she married David B. Geyer; he survives in Marion.

She retired in 2000 as a cook for Tracy's Restaurant after 10 years and then worked as a cook for the Eagles Lodge. She was a member of Fite Memorial Baptist Church, Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles and did volunteer work for MDA. She was also past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles No. 337.

She is also survived by three sons, Danny (Helen) Combs of Mount Gilead, Richard Combs of Marion, Willard Mitchell of Marion; a daughter, Joyce Aldrich of Marion; a brother, Robert (Mildred) Dowler of Marion; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Combs and a brother, Buck Dowler.

The funeral is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Boyd Funeral Home with Pastor David Carlyle officiating. Burial is in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Quality of Life Hospice and/or Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Leona Lovey Brown

RICHWOOD -- Leona Lovey Brown, age 84, of Richwood, died at 9:48 p.m. Jan. 7, 2004, at OSU Medical Center in Columbus.

She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of McKendree United Methodist Church; formerly active in the Grace Chapel United Methodist Church; formerly a Navy Mothers Club member; Richwood Civic Center; Richwood Garden Club; and life-long member of the Byhalia/York community.

She was born Dec. 3, 1919, in Richwood, Ohio, to the late Elsworth Laughrey and Mae E. (Rosebrook) Laughrey.

On March 1, 1939, in Kenton Ohio, she married Ralph Brown; he died Aug. 21, 1983.

She is survived by three sons, Charles (Kathy) Brown, Willard, Ohio, Ronald E. (Gay) Brown, Julian, Calif., Steve (Becky) Brown, Richwood; one daughter, Judy May (Lloyd) Collins, Montrose, Colo.; one son-in-law, Dave Duncan, Raymond; two sisters, Starling (Clifford) Gibson, Richwood, Betty (Dick) Tevis, Richwood; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Duncan; one sister, Bertha Cameron; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the York McKendree United Methodist Church, York Center with the Rev. Roger Gorden officiating. Burial in York Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Contributions may be made to York McKendree United Methodist Church. Cards are available at Funeral Home.

Linda May Holman

MARION -- Linda May Holman, 53, 206 Park Blvd., Marion, died at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at OSU Hospital in Columbus.

She was born March 26, 1950, in Marion, Ohio, to the late Franklin A. Hartley and Delores J. (Gisige) Hartley.

On Aug. 27, 1987, in Marion, she married Perry C. Holman; he survives in Marion.

She worked for 10 years at Fulfillment Corporation of America and retired as a cashier from Bi-Lo Food Stores of Tennessee. She was a resident of Marion for most of her life.

She is survived by one daughter, Heather (Jon) St. Jean of Westerville, Ohio; one grandson, Austin St. Jean; one brother, Kevin Hartley of Marion, Ohio; and three sisters, Donna Hill of Marion, Ohio, Mary Ann Burnside of Marion, Ohio, and Judy Ferguson of Marion, Ohio.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Boyd Funeral Home with the Rev. Marcellus de Oliveira officiating. Burial will be at a later date. There will be no calling hours.

Mary Dale Firestone

MARION -- Mary Dale Firestone, age 87, of Marion, passed away Wednesday evening at Marion General Hospital.

Born in Cincinnati on Feb. 29, 1916, to George W. and Iva (Irvin) Bacon, she married Albert James Firestone in 1952, who preceded her in death in 1973. She was also preceded in death by a brother, King Grove Bacon, and a sister, Ruth N. McClintock.

Mary had worked at Marion General Hospital in the admitting department until her retirement and then continued to volunteer at the hospital until 1999. A member of Epworth United Methodist Church, she was also a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 15. Mary was an avid fan and loved all animals, especially cats, and enjoyed yard work and gardening. Surviving are her son, Lance (Ruby) Firestone of Marion; two grandchildren, Russell Dean "Mike" Blanton of Tampa, Fla. and Mrs. Steve (Kim) Rauscher of New Bloomington; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brittany Rauscher.

Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the Hughes Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Boothe officiating. Burial will follow in the Marion Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
