Life-member of Disabled American Veterans, member of American Legion, VFW, Ohio Troopers Coalition, and an FOP Booster. Preceded in death by parents and brother Jim. Survived by wife, Mildred E.; brother, Thomas; aunt, Mildred Nicholas; stepson, Steven V. (Holly) Rutherford; stepdaughter, Janice Rathburn. At his request, no calling hours. Private interment at Obetz Cemetery. Arrangements by COOK & SON-PALLAY FUNERAL HOME.

WARD Donald Ward, age 82, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Regency Manor. Army veteran of WW II. Preceded in death by wife Okie. Survived by daughters, Donetta (Ray) Shell of Phyllis, Ky., and Dian (Ronnie) Adkins of Tram, Ky.; adopted sons, David Wayne Coleman of Fl., and Donald Greg Coleman of Phyllis, Ky.; 6 grandchildren; 4 sisters; 1 brother; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday 6-9 p.m. at COOK & SON-PALLAY FUNERAL HOME, 1631 Parsons Ave., where service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Pastor Philip Whitfield officiating. Interment Obetz Cemetery.

WARDLOW Martha A. Wardlow, age 78, Sunday, Grant Medical Center. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave., where service will be Wednesday, time to be announced. Interment Eastlawn Cemetery. Complete obituary in Tuesday's paper.

WATSON John C. Watson, 85, of Pataskala, died Saturday, March 31,2001. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at KAUBER-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 289 S. Main Street, Pataskala, with Rev. G.F. Peters officiating. Burial will be in Pataskala Cemetery. Mr. Watson was born at home May 7, 1915 on a farm north of Kirkersville, to the late Rex and D. Lucille Wilson Watson. He farmed all his life, worked at North American, the Pennsylvania Railroad, and an Auctioneer for 50 years. Owned and operated Granville Livestock Saleyards, past president of Ohio Auctioneers Association, served on Pataskala Council for 12 years, served on Board of Public Affairs for Pataskala, member of Pataskala Masonic Lodge F&AM #404, member of Pataskala Methodist Church, and associated with Bruce Baird Realty for many years. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Watson; five daughters, Mary Jane Dawson of Wharton, Tx., Dixie (Ron) Sager of Kirkersville, Joan (Bill) Love of Granville, Martha (Bob) Adams of Grove City, Pat (Fred) Barnhill of Pataskala; one brother, William Watson of Granville; three sisters, Kathryn Fankhauser of W.Va., Virginia Lees of Alexandria, and Jeanne Philabaum of Pataskala; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Watson was a faithful husband, strong and loving father. He tried to always lead an honest life and was always learning and taught many auctioneers their profession. Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001 at the funeral home. There will be an 8 p.m. Masonic service after the calling hours.

WELLS Roger Wells, age 62, of Westerville, Friday, March 30, 2001 at home. Retired Assistant Director of Columbus Recreation and Parks, registered Landscape Architect. Graduate of the Ohio State University. Member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Whitehall-Bexely Rotary Club and past District Governor of Rotary District 6690. Survived by wife, Susie; daughter, Lesa (Rick) Haas of Westerville; son, Keith (Drema) Wells of Worthington; granddaughters, Lauren, Ashley, Tawny and Tessa Wells, Megan and Erin Haas. Preceded in death by parents George and Alma Wells. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 313 N. State Street, Westerville, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment Pataskala Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Rotary Foundation, Hospice at Riverside/Grant or Easter Seals of Central and Southeast Ohio, Inc. Wake service Monday at 9 p.m.

WRIGHT Robert Wright, age 78, Monday, March 26, 2001 at his residence. A U.S. WW II Army Veteran. Preceded in death by parents Clifford and Alice Wright, brother Clifford Wright Jr. and sister Dorothy Mae Chapman. Survived by daughter, Catherine (James) Allen "Bootsie" of Detroit, Mich.; grandsons, Cameron Stephens, Christopher (Theresa) Stephens of Detroit, Mich.; granddaughters, Marla Lawrence of Chicago, Ill., Tamika Wilson and Toscha Wilson of Detroit, Mich.; 9 great-grandchildren; aunts, Velma and Martha Henderson of Cleveland, Oh.; uncle, Nathaniel Henderson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral 8 p.m. Tuesday April 3, 2001 at the chapel of C.D. WHITE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 1217 Mt. Vernon Ave. Elder Jerome Bostic, Officiant. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until the time of service.

ARNOLD Mildred B. Arnold, age 89, of Columbus, died Monday, April 2, 2001 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Preceded in death by her husband Harold C. Arnold. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Reynolds of Worthington; son, James (Sandy) Cramer of Grandview; grandchildren, Lori (Jeff) Pisching, Lynne (Philip) Petitti, both of Worthington, Lori Lynne (DJ) Thomas of Grandview and Paula Cramer of Marysville; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Petitti, Anthony Petitti, Allison Pisching, Michael Pisching, Riley Mittendorf and Shaun Sharp; and special friend, Leo Hoops of Grandview. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington, (614)885-4006. Private funeral services will be held for the family at Green Lawn Cemetery. If they choose, friends may make memorial contributions to Capital Area Humane Society, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Court, Hilliard, OH 43026 in Mildred's memory.

ASHER Earl Asher, age 90, of Johnstown, passed away Monday, April 2, 2001 at the Northview Senior Living Center in Johnstown from a long battle with cancer. Preceded in death by son Terry, 5 brothers Robert, Johnny, Frank, Shelby and MacKinley, all of Hyden, Ky., parents Ples and Nellie (North) Asher. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie Mattingly Asher; son, Larry (Sue) Asher; 4 grandsons, Don Asher, all of Johnstown, Marc Asher and Steve Asher, both of Nev. and Robert Asher of Calif.; sister, Polly Asher Dixon-Hyden of Ky.; brother, Don Mosley of Vandalia, Oh.; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 25 year Army Veteran, having served in WW II and Korea. Civil Service for 22 years, a total of 47 years. He has received many decorations and distinguished awards. Calling hours will be held Wednesday April 4, 2001 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 310 Jersey Rd. in Johnstown between 5-8 p.m., where he was a deacon. Funeral Service will be held Thursday April 5, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the church. Officiated by Rev. Michael Rector. Burial in Union Cemetery of Columbus with a military graveside service. Arrangements by CROUSE-KAUBER-SAMMONS FUNERAL HOME of Johnstown. Family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 1435-B West Main St., Newark, Oh. 43055-9630.

BATTEIGER Edward Batteiger, 84, April 2, 2001, Riverside Hospital. Former star baseball player at Central High School. Retired Tool and Dye maker from General Motors. WWII Army veteran. Preceded in death by wife Mary Batteiger. Survived by sons, Richard and Ron Batteiger; daughter, Gloria (Gene) Wedemeyer; grandchildren, Paula, Cathi, David, Jenny and Tommy; eight great-grandchildren. BAUMGARTNER Claire M. Baumgartner, 84, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2001. She is preceded in death by husband Charles. She is survived by son, Gary (Janet) Baumgartner; daughter, Joan (James) Guertin; grandchildren, James (Madeleine) Guertin, Patrick (Sandra) Guertin, Claire Guertin, Andrew Guertin, William Guertin, Kelly (Bret) Creameans, Kristen (Timothy) Meder, Katrina Baumgartner, Karisa Baumgartner; great-grandchildren, Timothy Guertin, Benjamin Guertin, Kyle Creameans, Noah Creameans, Ryan Meder, Evan Meder. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road. Vernon, Penn., 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001. Gilead, OH 43338 in her memory.

BICSEY John "Jack" Bicsey, 76, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2001, a former resident of Westerville, Oh. Jack was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Community. Jack was a decorated veteran of WW II. He is survived by his wife, Edna M. Bicsey; daughters, Barbara Bicsey of Westerville, Oh., Luann Fowler of McKeesport, Pa. and Maureen Post and husband, Earl of Columbus, Oh.; son, Jon Bicsey of New York City; step-daughters, Debra Holdren and husband, Jim of Westerville, Oh., Leigh Kenny and husband, John Circle of Albuquerque; sister, Joan Bicsey of McKeesport, Pa.; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 4 at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel Ave. NE with Fr. Richard Olona, Celebrant. Preceded in death by husband Oliver Bitticks, mother and father Charles and Pauline Quinichett, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Survived by daughter, Mrs. Mary L. Head; grandson, John W. Head, Jr.; sisters, Margaret Quinichett, Fannie Collins; brother, Paul Quinichett; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. BLATT Joseph Blatt, age 88, of Columbus. Preceded in death by wife Ann Blatt and brother Sidney Blatt. Survived by daughter, Elaine (Clinton D.) Stoner; son, Morton H. (Carolyn) Blatt of Mountain View, Calif.; sister, Florence Reed of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; grandchildren, Robert (Deborah) Stoner, Michael Stoner, Sheri (Brian) Mulroe and Wendy (Craig) Buchman. Mr. Blatt was a nationally ranked table tennis player and had many friends at the Columbus Table Tennis Club. Graveside service to be held in Clifton, N.J. BROUSE Jon D. Brouse Sr., 69 years, passed away March 31, 2001, in Delaware, Oh. Born in Akron, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the Army in the First Cavalry. He belonged to Local # 894 and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mr. Brouse is survived by His wife, Dorothy of Delaware, Ohio; son, John Jr. of Akron; daughters, Martha Vance of Magnetic Springs, Cynthia Nelson of Hartville, and Kathleen Carlson of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grand children; brother, Michael Brouse and sister, Margaret Stricklen. Funeral services Wednesday 11 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 East Market Street, Father Raymond J. Smith officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
