Selvin J. Withrow
Selvin J. Withrow, 77, of Newalla died Thursday in Midwest City.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Newalla First Baptist Church with the Rev. Griff Henderson and the Rev. Bill Derrick officiating. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery. Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh is in charge of arrangements.

Withrow was born April 28, 1926, in Tushka to James English and Bertha Elizabeth (Corbitt) Withrow.

Withrow lived in Atoka County until joining the United States Army. He served two years in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked as a supply duty officer at Tinker Field for 38 years, retiring in 1982, and had spent most of his adult life in Newalla.

On April 16, 1999, he married Betty Chambers in Eureka Springs, Ark.

Withrow was a member of the VFW in Shawnee and a member of the First Baptist Church of Newalla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Geraldine "Gerri" Withrow; four brothers, Marvin, Vernon, Carthel and Ocie, and two sisters, Opal Noak and Omie Withrow.

Survivors include his wife Betty of the home; sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Clyde Johnson of Bethel Acres; sister, Mae Withrow of Shawnee; stepchildren and their spouses, Lisa and Danny McSperritt, Regina and Charlie Pound, Marsha and Gary Day, Deborah and Richard Miller, Karen and Austin Sturgill; several grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Clara Withrow, Bessie Withrow, Anna Withrow, and many other relatives.

Virginia Joiner
Virginia Groce Joiner, 82, Oklahoma City, formerly of Shawnee, died Thursday.

Survivors include three nephews and two nieces, Robert James Navarr and wife Emily, William Russell Navarr, David Allen Groce, Judith Ann Steele and Barbara Jean Groce.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Edmond under the direction of Guardian Funeral Home West of Oklahoma City.

Leroy Davis
Leroy Davis, 82, of Oklahoma City died Tuesday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Shawnee and attended school in Bethel.

Davis worked in the dry cleaning industry.

In 1946, Davis married Amy Alford in Fort Smith, Ark. She preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 2001.

He also was preceded in death by his parents.

Davis lived in Shawnee until moving to Oklahoma City in 1947.

He served the U.S. Army during World War II in the Asian Theater and was a member of the American Legion Post 16, Shawnee.

Davis is survived by his son, Gary Davis of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Christal Green of California, Grant Davis and Kayla Davis, both of Oklahoma City, and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with burial at Johnson Cemetery.

Jessie Wood
Jessie Wood, 82, of Shawnee died Tuesday at Unity Health Center, South Campus.

She was born Aug. 18, 1919, in Cooper, Texas, to James Alexander Duncan and Tempie (Magehee).

She married John Wood in 1936 and was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and worked at the Nutrition Center at the Senior Citizens Center and the Special Olympics.

She had been a resident of Shawnee since 1976.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Geneva Wood; one son, Lloyd Wood; and one brother, Alfred Duncan.

Survivors include four children and their spouses, Floyd Wood of Muskogee, Wilma and Carl Eschman of Maud, and Jimmy Wood and Susan Nice of Okemah; one sister, Lizzie Gormley of Dallas, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Carl Upton officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Marceline Kay Jones
Marceline Kay (Trammell) Jones, 48, of Crestline, Calif., died Tuesday in Colton, Calif.

She was born Aug. 9, 1953, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Albert and Patricia (McKosato) Trammell.

She was preceded in death by her father and husband, Howard Jones.

Survivors include her mother, Patricia McKosato of Prague; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Michael Trammell, Stanley and Gail Trammell and Fred Trammell, all of New York City; a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Justin Drobenaire of Oakland, Calif.; two nephews, a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Services are Saturday evening at the McKosato home on Moccasin Trail with Raymond Massey officiating. Burial will be Sunday at 9 a.m. at the McKosato Family Cemetery.

John VanHook
McLoud resident John VanHook, 84, died Wednesday at a local hospital.

Survivors include two sons, John VanHook of San Diego, Calif., and Rod VanHook of Yucca Valley, Calif.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Dale Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Traffanstedt officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

James E. Crunk
Seminole resident James Eugene Crunk, 51, died Thursday in Seminole.

He was survived by his mother, Betty Harrison of Albion, Okla.; wife, Sue Crunk of the home; two sons, Wesley Crunk of Salem, Mo., and John Crunk of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Wesley Pitmon of Blanchard; four grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy Cook of Newalla; three sisters, Jessica Cooper of Gans, Calif., Jimmie Taylor of Seminole and Illiena Dodson of McAlester; and many nieces, nephews and family and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with burial in Little Cemetery.

Dale Biswell
Dale Eldon Biswell, 62, died Wednesday in Cushing.

Survivors are his wife, Linda S. Biswell, Plano, Texas; three daughters, Jennie England, Leavenworth, Kan., Cindy Fisher, Cushing, and Debbie Malaer, Parker, Texas; two brothers, Lavon Biswell, Albuquerque, N.M., Gerald Biswell, Cushing; one sister, Donna Hollingshead, Cushing; and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Service with the Rev. Gerald Biswell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Stroud.

Russell E. Dutton
Russell E. "Rusty" Dutton, 51, Shawnee, died Wednesday at his home.

He was born Dec. 22, 1951, in Shawnee to Harold E. and Geraldine "Jerry" Dutton. He was a lifelong Shawnee resident.

He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1970 and attended St. Gregory's University.

He was a carpenter and ran his own construction business.

In the early 1980s, he became a hot-air balloon pilot.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Thompson Dutton, and grandparents Vert and Mirtle Dutton and Frank and Dollie Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Rania Dutton, of the home; stepdaughter, Sharee Jones, Oklahoma City; father and stepmother, Harold and Ruth Dutton, Shawnee; brother, Frank Dutton, Shawnee; sister, Denise Rooker, Shawnee; niece, Amanda Rooker, Shawnee; nephew, Ryan Rooker, Shawnee; aunt, Gertie Larch-Miller, Shawnee, and many other relatives.

A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Clint Dawkins officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Demuth Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.

Catherine Brooks
Catherine Brooks, 43, of Oklahoma City died Thursday.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Bob Anderson and Doyle Loveland officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Dotsie Potts
Dotsie Potts, 85, Shawnee, died Friday at a local hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Norris officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Darren C. Jones
Meeker resident Darren C. Jones, 35, died Sunday, May 16, in Guthrie.

He was born March 28, 1969, in Wichita, Kan., to Ronald C. and Donnell (Hurst) Jones. He was a Baptist.

He worked as a butcher and stocker in the B&R Grocery store in Meeker.

His grandparents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his two sons, Anthony and Tyler Jones of Meeker; parents, Ronald and Donnell Jones of Meeker; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rhonda Jones of Meeker, Dana and Jerry Keirn of El Paso, Texas, and Alicia and Mark Bergman of Stillwater.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Morning Star Baptist Church in Meeker with the Rev. William Thorn officiating and the Rev. Glen White assisting. Burial will be at the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.

Memorials may be made to the Companion Hospice, 1314 E. Oklahoma, Guthrie, OK 73044.
