Beulah D. Kinnamon
Shawnee resident Beulah D. Kinnamon died Monday, May 7, at her home at the age of 83.

She was born March 18, 1924, in Okemah to Earl and Lee (Oxley) Guinn.

Beulah attended and graduated from Shawnee High School. She attended business school prior to moving to Richmond, Calif.

On Oct. 9, 1943, she married Robert Samuel Kinnamon in Richmond.

Beulah worked beside her husband at the P.D.Q. store, the first convenience store in Shawnee. They later moved the business to Meeker where it became the B&R Food Town.

Beulah was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church and a long standing member of the North Rock Creek Home Extension Club. She was a member of the Hi-Noon Business and Professional Women's Club. She held many offices and she supported her children in their accomplishments of 4-h Club exhibits in the county fairs. Beulah worked with North Rock Creek School helping teach ceramics to students. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren teaching them how to sew, make cookies, crochet and do ceramics.

Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; her eldest son, Robert Earl Kinnamon and her sisters, Vesta Sparks, Earlene Perry and Wanda Sangster.

Survivors include three children, Janice Gett of Oklahoma City, Donna Wright of Norman, and Ron Kinnamon and his wife, Diana, of Meeker; nine grandchildren: Terry Kinnamon and his wife Michelle of Oklahoma City, Kelli Kinnamon of Edmond, Stephanie Groutas and her husband Mark of Austin, Texas, Suzanne Morrison and her husband Chris of Del City, Jeffery Gett of Oklahoma City, Julie Michelle Cornelius of Oklahoma City, Brandi Smith of Atlanta, Ga., Joshua Kinnamon of Seminole, and Jeremy Kinnamon of Meeker; two brothers-in-law, Mace Perry of Oklahoma City and Houston Sangster of Earlsboro; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service will be 10 a.m. today at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Gary Nickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Casket will remain open until service time and will not be opened after service.

Eugene Melvin Lawrence
Shawnee resident Eugene "Mookey" Lawrence died Thursday, May 3, at the age of 52.

Viewing will be 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Temple and Sons, and 10 a.m. to service at Wesley United Methodist Church.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Shawnee, with the Rev. David Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Shawnee, under the direction of Temple and Sons Funeral Directors, Inc., Oklahoma City.

John Francis Hendrix
Seminole resident John Francis Hendrix, 86, passed away on May 9, at Seminole Estates Nursing Center.

No service is scheduled at this time. Arrangements under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Rose Laniyah Wakolee
Rose Laniyah Wakolee, infant child of Martisha Lou Wade and Brandon David Wakolee of Shawnee, died Monday, May 8, in Shawnee.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bucks Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Walker Funeral Service

George Lee Yarbrough
Shawnee resident George Lee Yarbrough, 86, died Saturday, May 5, in Shawnee.

He was born on July 26, 1920, to George Ernest and Florence Louise (King) Yarbrough in Shawnee.

He graduated from Bethel High School and received bachelor and master degree in literature from Oklahoma A&M.

On Nov. 30, 1946, he married Ruth Irene Spears in Shawnee.

Though he traveled much of the world, he lived most of his life on the land where he was born. Following his marriage, they lived for a short time in Caracas, Venezuela, but moved home to rear their three children in the Bethel area.

In World War II, he served with the Army Air Corps in the Mediterranean theatre as a bombardier aboard B17 bombers. He flew 68 combat missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal.

His primary occupation was school teacher, from which he retired after 25 years of service in the Tecumseh School system.

His retirement afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively, mostly to Spanish speaking countries. He loved languages and continued his studies through international workshops. At the age of 80, George was awarded by the Worldwide Teachers Development Institute in Guadalajara, Mexico, the Boston Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Ann Mayes in 1986; his wife in 1993; and his daughter-in-law, Linda Kay Yarbrough in 2004.

Survivors include his son, Gary Yarbrough; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and David Henry; son-in-law, Mike Mayes; grandchildren, Steve Yarbrough and wife, Elisha; Mandy Yarbrough Bloomfield and husband, Ronnie; Mark Mayes and wife, Sarah; Jill Mayes Sais and husband, Al; T. J. Mayes; Kerri Henry Mathews and husband, Chad; and Joe Henry and wife, Chrissy; great-granchildren, Jonathan, James, Lorelei and Landry Yarbrough; Kelcie Carpenter; Brook Bloomfield; Jay Carpenter; Pete and Luke Mayes; Jaxson Mathews, and ValeriaAnn Sais; brother, Ed Yarbrough; and host of other relatives.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Chris Talley officiating. The family has designated Angelic Hospice of Shawnee or Bethel United Methodist Church as appropriate for memorials.

Martha Jane Hawkins
Lifelong Shawnee resident Martha Jane Hawkins, 88, died Thursday, May 10, peacefully at her home.

She was born Nov. 20, 1918, to Robert Lee and Ella Mae (Covey) Renega in Shawnee.

She attended Shawnee High School.

She married Henry Leland Hawkins Nov. 14, 1946, they enjoyed 47 years together before he passed away January 1994.

She loved to sew, crotchet, cook, and most of all, take care of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, R.L. and Wilburn Renegar; sister, Elizabeth Brewer; son, Leland Hawkins; daughter, Helen Collins; and son-in-law, Larry Byrd.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Byrd; grandchildren, Bryan Byrd, Travis Hawkins, Shelly Wise, and Phil Jackson; 10 great-grandchildren; two sister-in-law, May Renegar and Faye Renegar.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Mike Craig officiating.

Linda Louise McGee
Stroud resident Linda Louise McGee, 42, died Thursday, May 10, in Stroud.

Service will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Stroud High School Auditorium with the Rev. Mike Mitchell and the Rev. John Sowers officiating.

Arrangements under the direction of Parks Brothers funeral Service, Stroud.

Elsie Mae (Brewer) Cane
Longtime Seminole resident Elsie Mae (Brewer) Cane, 81, died Wednesday, May 9, at Seminole Estates Nursing Center.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Seminole with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Arrangements under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Allene Blackburn
Harrah resident Allene (Pendergraft) Blackburn, 73, died Wednesday, May 9, in Harrah.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, with the Rev. Hubert Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah.

Arrangements under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah.

Doyle Oliver Vanderburg
Oklahoma City resident Doyle Oliver Vanderburg, 92, Wednesday, May 9, in an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born Dec. 3, 1914, in Wynnewood to Newton Vanderburg and Lillie (Sterling) Vanderburg.

He married Lola Bowen. After her death he married Mary Dean Tingler.

Doyle worked most of his life as a warehouse manager at Tinker Air Force Base.

He was a member of South Lindsey Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. He was awarded the #1 Fan of Senior Softball.

He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; one sister, Helen Oxley; four brothers, Lloyd, Orville, Troy and Woody Vanderburg; and one daughter, Marie Conley.

Survivors include his three children, Bobby Doyle Vanderburg and wife, Maralyn, of Oklahoma City, Linda Kay Locke and husband, Alan, of Topeka, Kan., Lucy Belle of Calif., 17 grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Mooneyham of Georgia.; three brothers, Odell Vanderburg and wife, Mary Ella, of Shawnee, Bobby Gene Vanderburg and wife, Wilma, of Lake Texhoma, Billy Dean Vanderburg and wife, Myrna, of Oklahoma City; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at the Chapel of Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee with Leroy Kerbo officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Emily Nicole Stiles
Emily Nicole Stiles, infant daughter of Philip Stiles and Sarah Kilgore of Milfay, Okla., was stillborn Thursday, May 10 in Oklahoma City.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Milfay, with the Rev. Forest Whitmore officiating. Burial will follow at Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services in Stroud.

Patrick H. Harris Sr.
Seminole resident Patrick H. Harris Sr., 76, passed away Wednesday, May 9, at Solara Hospital.

Viewing will be 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. today and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday until service.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, 100 W. Strothers Ave. Burial with military honors will be 3 p.m. in Del City at Sunny Lane Cemetery, 4000 SE 29th St. in Del City.
