Barton

Thomas Jackson Barton, 88, died August 12, 2004, at Grace Living Center of Mangum. Graveside Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at the Reed Cemetery with Dr. David Moore officiating. Visitation at Stewart Funeral Service, Mangum, will be Sunday, Aug. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. Stewart Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

T. J. was born Sept. 3, 1915, in Reed to Andrew Jackson and Ethel Pruett Barton. He graduated from Reed High School.

He married Levoi Cullins October 20, 1934, in Reed. They lived at Reed where he was a farmer and businessman. He was Greer County Commissioner in District 3 for 13 years. He enjoyed rock collecting, arrowhead collecting, hunting, antiques and junk.

He was a member of the Reed Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge at Mangum. He lived in Reed his whole life until he and his wife moved to Grace Living Center.

He is survived by his wife Levoi Barton; one son, Tommy R. Barton and his wife Nancy of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Johnny J. Neal and her husband Don of Reed, and Gay Brucker and her husband Jim of Ft Pierce, Fla.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Claude Barton; and one sister, Mildred Presley.

Robert Whitebird

Robert H. Whitebird of Quapaw died Friday, May 6, 2005, at a local nursing facility. He was 92.

Whitebird was born Jan. 17, 1913, in Lincolnville Community to Harry and Flora Young Greenback Whitebird. He lived in the Quapaw area all of his life and was the last male pure-blood Quapaw. He was a retired farmer.

Whitebird married Pauline Woodward in June of 1941. She preceded him in death in 1999.

He is survived by two grandsons, Robert Whitebird III and his wife Suzanne of Indiahoma and Larry Whitebird of California; three great-granddaughters, Melinda, Ravyn and Cia of Indiahoma, and a daughter, Cynthia Whitebird of Miami.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Whitebird Cemetery east of Quapaw. Indian rites will be conducted by Leonard Smith. Pallbearers will be Bill Blalock, Troy Stand, George Valliere, Kugel Supernaw, Charles Head and Kevin Dawes. Honorary pallbearers will be Chief Floyd Leonard, Chief Bill Follis, Chief Charles Enyart, Chief Leaford Bearskin and George "Pokey" Valliere.

Whitebird's body can be viewed at the home of his great-niece, Beth Blalock, at 2119 J St. SW in Miami.

A funeral procession will leave the Quapaw Tribal Complex at 9:30 a.m. Monday prior to the graveside services.

Services are under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher.

Jeffery Miser

Jeffery Miser, 44, passed away 8 a.m. Wednesday, September 14 in UCL Mont Godinne.

Miser grew up in Fairland, Oklahoma and entered the United States Air Force shortly after graduating High School. While assigned in Germany he frequently went TDY at the Air Base in Florennes, Belgium, where he met and later married Marie Bigot. He worked almost ten years within the USAG Benelux footprint at the Post Office and in 2010 he began working for USAF DHR - Administrative Services Division as a Management Analyst. He was the subject matter expert in the Defense Travel System and the Army Records Information System. He will always be remembered by his customers for his competence. Reliability and always placed their needs above his own. He will be greatly missed by everyone, whom by God's grace had a chance to know him.

He became a member of the SHAPE Harley Davidson Club shortly after its conception in September 2001. He also served the community for a number of years as a Motorcycle Safety Instructor. Motorcycle was more than a passion, it was a lifestyle he enjoyed living. Nothing made him happier than riding through the Swiss Alps and experiencing other motorcycle adventures with his wife Marie.

He is survived by: his spouse, Marie, currently employed at the SHAPE Elementary School; his parents, Russell and Sharlene Miser; and his sister Becky.

Helen Loletta (Pete) Schoenhals

Helen Loletta (Pete) Schoenhals passed from this life and entered into heavens gates on Wednesday evening October 5, 2011 at her home in Miami, Oklahoma.

Pete was born May 21, 1930 in Miami, Oklahoma to her parents Robert and Louella (Pounds) Dickson.

On November 21, 1951 Mr. J. Don Schoenhals took Pete as his wife in Arkansas. She was a home maker and loved her family dearly. Pete was a member of Southeast Baptist Church for years. She enjoyed working in her yard. Pete was also a member of the Miami bowling leagues. She worked at NEO A&M College in the bakery. She retired from NEO January 13, 1993.

Pete is survived by her 1 son: Robert Dean Schoenhals and wife Shelli of Pleasanton, Kansas, 2 daughters: Dona and husband Dean Wyrick of Miami, Oklahoma and Connie and husband Dean Schaffer of Miami, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives, longtime friends and neighbors.

Pete is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 1 sister: Maxine Frisbie.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday October 10, 2011 at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Terry Warren officiating. Interment will follow at GAR Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday October 9, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home.

Myrtle May Jones

Myrtle May Jones, 93, of Sand Springs, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at the Golden Rule Nursing Home in Shawnee.

Nelle Embree Klingensmith

Nelle Embree Klinginsmith, 88, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at her home in Tulsa. She was born Nelle Embree Menifee to Newell and Nan Kelly Menifee on July 21, 1913.

Toni JeanHenke-Hammers

Toni Jean Henke was born Dec. 23, 1960 to Anthony Henke and Brenda Ellis Henke in Tulsa. She died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, in Soper.

George Quinton

George Quinton, 68, of Sapulpa, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001. He was born April 28, 1933 in Sapulpa and had lived in this area all of his life.

Marilyn Jo Gore

Marilyn Jo Gore went to be with our Lord Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in St. John's Hospital in Tulsa. She was 73 years of age.

Velma May Esmond

Velma May Esmond, 83, a long-time resident of Tulsa, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Sapulpa. She was born June 22, 1918 in Bixby.

Tony Lee Minney

Tony Lee Minney, 53, of Sapulpa, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Tulsa Regional Medical Center in Tulsa.

Leabron Arthur Walker

Leabron Arthur Walker, 76, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001. He was born Sept. 30, 1925 to Horace "Hoss" and Okie Walker in Sapulpa. He married Pauline Powers in Sapulpa on Sept. 18, 1947.

Leonard Deckard

Leonard W. Deckard of Tulsa died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at the Glenpool Health Center at the age of 66.

Dora Masters

Masters, Dora Leona Zinn Masters, 77, born in Wagoner on Nov. 8, 1924, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2002 in Tulsa.

Leiser

Tamara (Tammy) Lee Evans Leiser, 59, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, after a brief battle with a blood disease. Tammy was born Oct. 31, 1944, to the late Keith E. Evans and Rula Harris of Malad, Idaho.

Tammy attended University of Idaho, where she received her cosmetology license. She was a world traveler visiting many countries all over the world.

She lived in Saudi Arabia for 13 years with her husband.

She lived in Altus from Aug. 1974 to March 1992. She and Bob settled in Schertz, Texas, near San Antonio about eight years ago.

She was active in the community and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and sold candles from home.

Tammy is survived by her husband of 37 years, Robert (Bob) Leiser; her son Keith and his wife Dawn Lee (Wille) Leiser of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Kenna and husband Tim Roco of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother, William K. Evans and his wife, Paula of Idaho; and three grandaughters, Cassandra Leiser, Tannah and Leah.

A viewing will be held from 10 - noon Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, followed by funeral services at the Benson Horsley Funeral Home in Malad, Idaho, at noon.

Tammy will be laid to rest next to her parents in the St. John Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in her behalf to the American Arthritis Foundation.

We say goodbye to a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed.

Washburn

Funeral service for Guy "Mark" Washburn, 43, of El Reno, formerly of Frederick, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at the Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick, with Gerald Kahlden, a cousin of Washburn and the Church of Christ minister in Durant, officiating.

Washburn died Saturday, August 7, 2004, in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. Burial will be at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home.

Washburn, the youngest of five children, was born August 18, 1960, in Hugoton, Kan., to Johnny and Frankie (Marcum) Washburn. He was an oil field worker, disabled for about 20 years. He had been a resident of El Reno for more than 25 years. He was a native of Elkhart, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tony Washburn.

He is survived by: a son, Michael Washburn Harrell; three daughters, Cora Wyles, Angie Tillery and Toni Washburn, all of El Reno; two grandchildren, Houston Tillery and Boston Ellison; two sisters, Terri Robichaux of Oklahoma City; and Debbie Bromlow, of Neosho, Mo.; a brother, Johnny Washburn of Oklahoma City; six nieces and four nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to Gray Gish Funeral Home, 111 N. 11th, Frederick, OK 73542, to help with funeral expenses.
