O.J. "HIP" HUEBNER

HOOKER, Okla. -- O.J. "Hip" Huebner, 81, of Hooker, Okla., died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born April 24, 1919, to B.F. and Bertha (Kunkel) Huebner near Turpin, Okla.

He attended country school in the Turpin area until the family moved to Hooker, where he finished his schooling.

He farmed with his father in the Hooker area.

He married Vera Agnes Mayfield July 31, 1942, in Guymon, Okla. She died April 29, 1989.

They had farmed and lived north of Hooker until he retired from farming in 1988.

Survivors include his daughter, Ann McBee and husband, Doyle, Hooker, Okla.; one brother, Fred Huebner and wife, Jean, Brighton, Colo.; one sister, Gertrude Brandes, Hooker, Okla.; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Brittany McBee of Hooker, Okla.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hooker Church of Christ with Neville Buchanan presiding.

Burial will follow at the Hooker Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker.

Memorials are suggested to the Hooker Cemetery Fund or High Plains Children's Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945. Memorials may also be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.

JACK LEE OGLETREE

KINGFISHER, Okla. -- Jack Lee Ogletree, 75, Kingfisher, Okla., died Monday, May 1, 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Ogletree, of the home; one son, Jack Ogletree Jr. and wife, Marilyn, Oklahoma City; two step-daughters, Shirley Childers and husband, Michael, Kismet, and Jodie Jacobs and husband, Ruben, Liberal; three grandchildren, Joanna, Jeff and Richard; two step-grandchildren, Michael and Chad; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Sylva Ogletree; his first wife, Doris (Higgins) Ogletree; and a daughter, Linda Maloney.

WINNIE ROBB

FORGAN, Okla. -- Winnie Lee Robb died Sunday, April 30, 2000, one day before her 65th birthday, at the Beaver County Memorial Hospital in Beaver, Okla.

She was born May 1, 1935, to Wadie L. and Ada Pearl (Phipps) Gaines in Stockton, Mo.

She was an ombudsman supervisor.

She graduated from high school and had two years of college. She was a member of the United Methodist Church for more than 30 years. She was also a past member of several state boards.

She married Merlyn Francis Robb June 1, 1968, in Raton, N.M. He survives.

Other survivors include one son, Lee Robb, Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters, Vikki Lynne Clyburn, League City, Texas, and Julie Lemieux, Forgan; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Forgan Christian Church, with Jim Sutherland and Craig Vandeburgh presiding.

Burial will be at the Forgan Cemetery under the direction of Clark Funeral Service of Beaver.

FLOYD TOWNER

Hooker, Okla. ­ Floyd Towner, 94, Hooker, died April 30, 2000, at the Dunaway Manor in Guymon, Okla.

He was born April 19, 1906, to Mel and Ola (Marts) Towner in Vernon County, Mo.

He came with his parents to the Oklahoma Panhandle, where they homesteaded in the spring of 1907.

The first school he attended was Buena Vista, near Tyrone, Okla. The second year he went to Lemon school. Basil and Romance Albright and Towner, drove an old cow pony hitched to a two-wheel cart to school. He attended school at Lemon until he graduated from grade school.

While attending Lemon School, he met Thelma Hampsten. The couple were married June 7, 1925.

He attended P.A.M.C. High School from 1922 till the spring of 1925. He was a member of the Honor Society and the Debating and Literary Society.

He and his wife both grew up on farms and were accustomed to a farm life. After they got married, they continued to farm as a way of life. They bought a quarter section, moving onto it in the spring of 1927. They made it their home till the fall of 1971, when they moved back to Hooker.

Survivors include four sons, Dwain Towner and wife, Adena, Hugoton, Roy Towner and wife, Marie, Rolla, Kansas, Don Towner and wife, Mary, Wichita, Gary Towner and wife, Lavon, Hooker; one daughter, Eileen and Bill Keyser, Pueblo, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Robert Greer, and Dena Ruth Towner, Sacramento, Calif., Mel Towner, Albuquerque, N. M., Galen and Debbie Towner, Perryton, Texas, Denis Towner, Johnson, Scot and Karen Towner, Grand Prairie, Texas, Tom and Wanda Haworth, Denver, Colo., Ann Baker, Pueblo, Billy Keyser, Denver and Chuck and Brenda Canselmo, Boone, Colo; 10 great-grandchildren, David Towner and Brandon Towner, both of Canyon, Texas, Josh Towner, Liberal, Jamie Towner, Kansas City, Debbie Wernike, Neosho, Mo., Crystal Bolding and Jordon Bolding, both of Pleasant Hill, Mo., Denise Bolding, Lee Summit, Mo., Richard and Danielle Johnson, Hillsboro; six great-great grandchildren, Lucus Wernike, Neosho, Kevin Towner, Hugoton, Lacy Keyser, Boone, Patrick Baker, Pueblo, and Kaleb and Bryan Towner, Wichita Falls, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thelma and grandchildren, Norris and Alna Bolding.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hooker Church of Christ with Neville Buchanan presiding.

Burial will be at the Hooker Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker.

JERUSHA INEZ PALMER

BEAVER, Okla. -- Jerusha Inez Palmer, 89, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Beaver County Memorial Hospital in Beaver.

She was born April 15, 1911, to Claude and Annetta (Wilson) McCune in Elmwood, Okla.

She was a homemaker most of her life. She graduated from Northwestern State University, Alva, with a bachelor of arts in teaching. She taught school for a short time.

She was a member of the Beaver Presbyterian Church for more than 30 years.

She married Loren Palmer Nov. 4, 1933, in Beaver. He died April 24, 1977.

Survivors include one son, Chester E. Palmer, Logan, Okla.; one daughter, Merlene Sharp, Beaver, Okla.; one sister, DeAlva Clark, Kiowa; one brother, Ralph McCune, Logan, Okla.; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m Wednesday at Beaver First Christian Church in Beaver, with Bill Moore presiding.

Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Clark Funeral Service of Beaver.

RAYMOND WATSON

BEAVER, Okla. -- James Raymond Watson, 87, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at the Beaver County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 8, 1912, to Joseph Edward and Alice (Smith) Watson at the family homestead one mile west of the Floris Elevators.

He grew up on the family farm, attended Locust Grove Grade School and graduated from Greenough High School in 1939.

He married Vera Patterson June 16, 1935. She died in 1952.

He farmed in the Floris Community until he retired in 1973 and moved to Ghost Hollow Cove on Grand Lake in eastern Oklahoma. He returned to Beaver May 1, 1997, to be closer to family.

He was a member of the Beaver County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) and SCS committees.

While he was head of the Beaver County Republicans, he met Congressman John "Happy" Camp, who nominated him to serve on the state ASCS Committee. He served from1969 to1973.

He was also a member of the Oklahoma State Conservation Service from 1961 to 1974. He received an award from the National and Oklahoma Wildlife Federations for "Outstanding Contributions Toward Uses and Management of Our Nation's Resources."

He had been a member of the Forgan Methodist Church.

He returned to help his family harvest wheat and milo each year after his retirement.

He was a member of the McFarland chapter of Masons, which merged with the Turpin, Okla., chapter and later combined with the Hooker, Okla., organization. He had attained the Masonic 32 degree at Consisitory in Guthrie, Okla. He had been presented with his 50-year Masonic membership pin and was a member of the Shrine Scottish Rite Temple in Guthrie.

He married Genevieve "Genny" Gibson Dec. 11, 1975, in Bentonville, Ark. She survives.

Other survivors include one son, Jim Watson and wife, Johnny, rural Forgan, Okla.; step-son, Gary Gibson and Sandy Klassy, Universal City, Texas; one step-daughter, Karen (Gibson) Birdwell, and husband, Bob, Universal City; grandchildren, Sherri Watson and husband, Danny, rural Forgan, Trent Watson and wife Tania, rural Turpin, Diana Boaldin and husband, Kent, Elkhart, Krista (McDaniel) James, Balko, Okla., Kammy (McDaniel) Gardner, Beaver, and Kyla (McDaniel) Bradford, Liberal;

step-grandchildren, Bob and Angela Birdwell, St. Louis, Mo.; Gary and Diane Birdwell, Schertz, Texas, Frank and Nancy (Birdwell) Lombard, Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Allison and Collin Watson, rural Forgan, Trae and Trista Watson, rural Turpin, Stephanie, René Diana and Kurt, Elkhart, and Kristi and Kara James, Balko; step-grandchildren, Scott and Matthew Birdwell, Universal City, Shelby, Kaylen and Ally Birdwell of Schertz; and a niece, Linda Pyle Moeller, Turpin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vera; a daughter, Rae Dena McDaniel; and his brother, John E. Watson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forgan United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Terry Fox presiding, assisted by Glen Kirkendall.

Burial with Masonic graveside services will follow at the Liberal Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Beaver County Memorial Hospital Patient Renovation Fund.
