Edgar Cox
Edgar Cox, 83, of Heavener, Okla., died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998 in a Poteau hospital. He was a resident since 1990, former resident of Buffalo Valley, Okla.
Graveside services
were held 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 1998 at Potts Cemetery in Buffalo Valley under the direction of the Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his son, Bob McMillian of Enid; one sister, Lillie Winton of Poteau; two brothers, Sam Cox of Casa Grande, AZ and Frank Cox of Oklahoma City; and several nieces and nephews.
Edmon Culwell
Mr. Edmon Culwell, 75, of Bokoshe, Okla., passed away Feb. 22, 1998 at his home in Bokoshe.
Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998 at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church at Bokoshe with burial at Milton Cemetery.
Ministers for the service will be Rev. Horace Sprouse and Rev. Lynn Bullard.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Military honors will be provided at the cemetery.
Mr. Culwell was born April 28, 1922 in Bokoshe the son of Mr. Burch Culwell and Bell Nixon Culwell. He married Helen Ozeal Stinnett on May 18, 1946 in Ft. Smith, AR. Mr. Culwell was a retired rancher and a disabled American Veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Helen Ozeal of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Gary Beathard of Atoka, and Ann and Carl Cosgrove of Bokoshe; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Lou Culwell, Jerry and Leah Culwell, all of Bokoshe; 10 grandchildren, Todd and wife, Tracie Cosgrove, Gary Beathard II and wife, Jenny, Ken and wife, Terri Cosgrove, Stacy, J.W. and Rocky Culwell, John and wife, Kerri Culwell, Michael and wife, Angie Culwell, Heath Cosgrove, and Keith Beathard; eight great-grandchildren, Jade, Page, Brad, Chad, and Chase Cosgrove, Landon and Jo Hanna Beathard, and John Daniel Culwell; one sister, Matha and brother-in-law, Roy Tackett of McCurtain; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

Imogene Fletcher
Imogene Fletcher, 81, of Muse, Okla., was born Sept. 13, 1916 at Hecter, AR to John Lester and Minnie Pearl (Price) Williams. She passed away Feb. 13, 1998 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center, Poteau.
She had lived in Muse for the past 20 years where she was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She was a homemaker and sold Rawleigh products.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Joseph Bernard Ledet in 1956.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jo Crochet; four sons, James Linsey Fletcher of Talihina, Billy Wayne and Bobby Dwayne Fletcher, both of Muse, Joseph Bernard Fletcher of Stillwater; 9 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; numerous friends and loved ones.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 1998 at the Assembly of God in Muse with the Rev. Oddis Farris officiating. Interment at Muse Cemetery.
Leonard James French
Leonard James French, 58, of Red Oak, Okla. was born Jan. 1, 1940 at Sulphur Springs, Ark. He passed away Feb. 18, 1998 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center, Poteau. He had been a resident of Red Oak since 1991.
He had served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the Board of Trustees for the town of Red Oak for the past year. He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his one son, Jack French of Santa Fe, Calif.; one daughter, Carla French of Red Oak; two sisters, Shirley Lettsinger and Cheryl Henry, both of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 1998 at the Red Oak Cemetery.

Anna Mae "Chock" Hatcher
Anna Mae "Chock" Hatcher, 73, of Poteau, was born Dec. 12, 1924 in Talihina, Okla., she was a homemaker.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 1998 at the Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with the Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Interment at Talihina City Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, George R. Black of the home; two sisters, Cleo Toomes of Poteau, Virginia of California; one brother, Alfred "Pete" Johnson of McAlester.
Services under the direction of the Evans & Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Valeria Jones
Valeria Jones, 90, of Spiro, Okla., died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998 in a Fort Smith hospital in Arkansas. She was a homemaker and the widow of Rev. Frank Jones. She was a member of the Spiro United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women Group.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998 at Spiro United Methodist Church with burial at Spiro City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by her five daughters, Lillian Vestal of Livingston, TX, Nancy Groseclos of Eufaula, Betty Dain of Guymon, Shirley Chace of Newkirk, and Mary "Mikey" Fowler of Spiro; one son, Franklin Eugene Jones of Apache; four sisters, Lorene Burdine, Lydia Goins, Lizzie Mae Foster, and Naomi Roberts, all of Kentucky; one brother, Milton Cobb of Kentucky; 24 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13 at the funeral home.
Odie "Bill" Kilgore
Odie "Bill" Kilgore, 78, of Pocola, Okla., died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998 at a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired Shipping Clerk for Hammond Sheet Metal.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 1998 at the Greenwood Church of Christ, Greenwood, AR. Interment at White Bluff Cemetery, Fort Smith, AR.
He is survived by his wife, Myra Kilgore of the home; three daughters, Virginia Kilgore, Mary Vasquez, and Dollie Joyce Kilgore, all of Pocola; two half-sisters, Edna Beshears of Greenwood, and Allene Allbaught of Sallisaw; two brothers, Troy and Willis Kilgore of Pocola; four half-brothers, Robert Kilgore of Gans, Manuel Kilgore of Greenwood, Rufus Kilgore, and Jimmy Wayne Kilgore, both of Sallisaw; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jesse Nelke, Jr., Brian Nelke, Chris Nelke, Allen Kilgore, Coleman Byrd, and Eddie Carpenter.
Viewing was on Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998 at the McConnell Funeral Home, Greenwood.
Arrangements were made by McConnell Funeral Home, Greenwood.
Lucille B. Martin
Lucille b. Martin, 93, of Wister, Okla., was born Aug. 21, 1904 in Durant, Okla. She died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998 at the Oaks Health Care Center of Poteau. She was a housewife.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998 at the First United Methodist of Wister, Okla. with the Rev. Will Langrehr and Rev. John L. Harrison officiating. Interment at Ellis Chapel Cemetery of Wister.
She is survived by three daughters, Billye Caudell, Ina Ruth Vaughn, and Claryene Rowzee, all of Wister; two sons, Robert D. "Buddy" Martin of Kimberling City, Mo. and Thad B. "Bockey" Martin of Wister;
two sisters, Francis Essman of Wister and Wanda Lou Robertson of Dalhart, TX; one brother, Joe Wilemon of Collinsville, OK; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Lucille (Mamaw) Martin was a longtime resident of Wister, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wister, a member of Order of Eastern Star since Feb. 26, 1926. Lucille was employed at Wister School for a number of years in the First Hot Lunch Program. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and wonderful homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.K. (Bill) Martin, a granddaughter, Della Lynn 'Martin' Haynes, her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
Pallbearers are her grandsons and great-grandsons.
A memorial fund has been established with the First United Methodist Church of Wister.

Lillian Novy
Lillian Novy, of Panama, Okla. was born Aug. 4, 1896 in Hillsboro, WI, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998 at the age of 101. She was a homemaker.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 1998 at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel, Fort Smith, AR with the Rev. Chuck Evans officiating. Interment at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by one sister, Bessie Burchell of Poteau; one niece, Barbara Evans of Panama; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones.

Joe Frank "Hoss" Robertson, Sr.
Joe Frank "Hoss" Robertson, Sr., of Poteau, Okla. was born May 30, 1922 in Spiro, Okla., died at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center, Poteau, Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998 at the age of 75. He was a retired Railroad Conductor.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998 at the Oakland Cemetery Pavilion with the Rev. Phil McGehee.
He is survived by his wife, Dorris Robertson of the home; one daughter, Joanna Ryan of Poteau; three sons and daughter-in-laws, Frank and Leslie Robertson Jr. of Red Oak, Billy Jack Robertson of Siloam Springs, AR, Tom and Kim Robertson of Poteau; one brother, John A. "Tucker" Robertson of Poteau; six grandchildren, Eric and Kacee Robertson, Kris Martin, Nick Ryan, and Kellie and Lane Robertson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
"Hoss" was a member of the First Baptist Church of Poteau, the United Transportation Union, VFW, and was a veteran of W.W.II.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Boy Scouts of America.

Ida Stallaby
Ida Stallaby, 82, of Red Oak, Okla. was born Dec. 25, 1915 in Red Oak. She died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998 at the age of 82. She was a homemaker.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 1998 at South Rock Creek Church, Red Oak with the Rev. William Fry officiating. Interment at Rock Creek Cemetery.
She is survived by one son, John Stallaby Jr.; four grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.

Rev. Leonard Sullivan
Rev. Leonard Sullivan, 82, of Oklahoma City, Okla. died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998 in Oklahoma City. He was a former resident of Heavener for 30 years, former Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Heavener and other Baptist churches in the area. He was a retired Lt. Colonel Chaplain in the U.S. Army, veteran of World War II, retired Chaplain for the Ouachita Correctional Center in Hodgen, a lifetime member and past President of the Heavener Kiwanis Club, and member of the Putnam City Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998 at the First Baptist Church in Heavener with burial at Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; three daughters, Nancy Seaman of Lawton, Pattye Cantu of Old Hickory, TN, Janie Bowden of Bethany; one son, Rusty of Hodgen; one sister, Inez Stowers of Savannah, OK; 9 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Mike and one brother, Buster.
Tom J. Traw
Tom J. Traw, 88, of Poteau, Okla., died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998 in Poteau. He has attended school at Wister, Okla. and graduated from Southeastern College in Durant, Okla.. He spent many years teaching in Panama, Arkoma, and Darby Junior High in Fort Smith, AR. He was an Oklahoma State Representative for eight years, member of First Christian Church in Wister, was a Realtor and Builder in Arkoma where he lived for more than 50 years, member of the Retired Teachers of LeFlore County.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998 at the First Baptist Church of Arkoma with burial at Roselawn Cemetery of Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Traw of Poteau; daughter, Carolyn Sullivan of Poteau; two sons, Tom Traw of Glendale, AZ and Bob Traw of Arkoma; brother, Sim Traw Jr. of Gilbert, AZ; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Othel and Clayton Harrison, Billy Jack Rogers, Rick Snyder, Gary King, Jim Faulkner, Roy Dix, Jimmy Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill Stewart, Jim Hamilton, Larry Dickerson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
