Margaret A. Neely

Shawnee resident Margaret A. Neely died Tuesday at a local nursing home. She was 50.

Mrs. Neely was born July 4, 1948, in Thomas to Ralph and Elsie Speer. She married Lynn Joseph Neely on Nov. 10, 1969, in Chandler by Rev. Leon Williams.

She graduated from Meeker High School and was an aide with elderly people. She was also associated with Girl Scouts. She attended Living Word Church where she was a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Neely and Amy Ann Neely, both of Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Jeri Lynn and Frank Hidalgo, Fort Lewis, Wash.; one granddaughter, Eternity Biegle, Seattle, Wash.; her mother, Elsie Speer, Shawnee; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosie and Gene Haase, Kennewick, Wash.; Helen and Lawrence Gallaway, Dayton, Wash.; Charlotte and Johnny Price, Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Kim Speer, Denton, Texas; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marvin and Lena Neely, Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Neely; grandson, Christopher Allen Blood; and her father, Ralph Speer.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clifton Briscoe officiating.

Ellsworth Jack Bean

Lifelong Chandler resident Ellsworth Jack Bean died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. He was 85.

Bean was born Feb. 4, 1914, in Wichita, Kan., to Dell and Merty (Boyd) Bean. He married Channie Armistead on April 16, 1954, in Chandler.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and then worked as a mechanic. He was a member of the AME Rockspring Methodist Church in Chandler.

Survivors include two sisters, Thelma Bean and Alma Reese, both of Chandler; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, on Jan. 23, 1979; and his parents.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Chandler with the Rev. Lee Lee Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at the Clearview Cemetery.

Warren F. Schroeder

Seminole resident Warren F. Schroeder died Monday at Seminole Medical Center. He was 79.

Schroeder was born April 14, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Fred and Ruth (Maher) Schroeder. He married Margaret Ruth Evans on April 14, 1955, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1938 to 1961 and retired after 23 years as chief warrant officer, marine gunner. He worked for Oklahoma State Employment Office from March of 1962 to July of 1985.

Schroeder was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Seminole Police Department and served as former chief of Seminole Auxiliary Police.

He was also a member of the Seminole Civil Defense, Seminole Chamber of Commerce, Oklahoma Reserve Law Officers Association, Boy Scouts of America, National Rifle Association and was a Seminole County reserve officer.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret R. Schroeder, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Fred Joseph and Mona Lisa Schroeder, El Paso, Texas; granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh Schroeder, El Paso, Texas; sister, Harriet Forberger, North Bellmore, Long Island, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Madeline Waters.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Father Basil Keenan, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Anthony Lee Morrel

Anthony Lee Morrel was born and died Sunday at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

He was the son of Sandy Peters and Sigmond Buchanan.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John W. Morrel III.

Survivors include his mother, Sandy Peters, Shawnee; father, Sigmond Buchanan, Alaska; grandparents, Loretta and Bobby Murphy, Shawnee; three uncles, John W. Morrel IV, John Richardson and Reece Peters; four aunts, Lillian Peters, Elizabeth Richardson, Crystal Morrel and Jessica Garcia; a great-great-aunt, Martha Welch; seven cousins; and several great aunts and great uncles.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh, with the Rev. Joe Bender and the Rev. Jimmy Don Gibson officiating.

Carl Van Bailey

Carl Van Bailey of Shawnee died Thursday at a McLoud nursing home. He was 85.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Blackburn Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Nancy Leah Hoskins

Asher resident Nancy Leah Hoskins died Thursday at an Ada hospital. She was 68.

She was born April 2, 1932, in Lorain, Ohio. She was the daughter of Denver Yonkings and Eva Nisky.

She married J.B. Hoskins April 30, 1959, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Mrs. Hoskins worked in the Asher School cafeteria. She lived in Asher since October 1987. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Asher.

Survivors include her husband, J.B. Hoskins, Asher; sons, Raymond Hoskins, Moreno, Calif., and Jay Hoskins, Norman; daughters, Shelley Southfield, Fallen, Nev., and Dawn Anderson, Carrollton, Texas; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Eilene Estes, Amhurst, Ohio, Geraldine Gerber, Amhurst, Ohio, Jeannette George, Amhurst, and Marion Okley, North Olmstead, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Denver Yonkings, Donald Yonkings and Richard Cicco, and three sisters, Kathleen Smith, Florence Kantelas and Bett Pollak.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Asher with the Rev. DeWayne Johnson. Burial will take place at Vista Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home, Konawa.

L. Lee Marshall

L. Lee Marshall of Shawnee died Wednesday at an Oklahoma City Hospital. He was 77.

He was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Henryetta to Charles B. and Gertrude (Jerden) Marshall.

He graduated from Okmulgee High School and attended Okmulgee Tech. He was manager at Oklahoma Natural Gas in Shawnee. He was employed by ONG in August 1942. After serving in the military, he returned to ONG in Shawnee, then moved to Tulsa. He returned to Shawnee again in 1966 and retired from ONG in September 1986.

He served in the 101 Airborne Division in Europe during World War II.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Shawnee Noonday Lions Club. He also was active in the Salvation Army.

Survivors include his son, Rory Marshall, Tulsa; daughter, Diana Upton, Sausalito, Calif.; granddaughter, Shannon Marshall Tulsa; grandsons, Robert Stephens and Brent Marshall, both of Tulsa; great-grandchildren, Haley Dean Stephens and Kaylee Ashyton Marshall, both of Tulsa; brother, James B. Marshall, Washington state.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Calmes officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

The casket will be open until noon Monday and will not be opened at the service.The service will conclude at the church, and the family will receive visitors after the service.

Memorials may be made to the Shawnee Salvation Army Endowment Fund, 200 E. Ninth, Shawnee, Okla. 74801.

James Marvin Bell

James Marvin Bell died Thursday in Shawnee. He was 78.

He was born Aug. 19, 1921, in Warwick, the son of Max and Opal (Christy) Bell.

He worked in the oil fields for many years and lived in Carney. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen Mae Bell, one son and three borthers.

Survivors include his sons, Charles Bell, Buffalo Valley, Donnie Bell, Carney, Jimmy Bell, Lawton, and Ronnie Bell, Corpus Christi, Texas; brothers, G.R. Bell, Oklahoma City, and John M. Bell Jr., Warwick; sister, Nora Wayman, Joplin, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Carney with the Rev. Chris Shaffer officiating under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Fredrick Ray Hutchison

Fredrick Ray Hutchison died Friday in Oklahoma City. He was 66.

He was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Chandler, the son of Loyd and Martha Mahaley Bell (Parker) Hutchison.

He lived in Sparks but worked around the Chandler and Sparks area all his life.

He married Naomi Burgan Feb. 25, 1967, in Chandler. She preceded him in death Sept. 24, 1994.

He also was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include five sisters, Euna Robinson, Henryetta; Virginia Hobbs, Porter; Mary June O'Bryant, Big Lake, Texas; Mary Lou Schoate, Billings; and Glena Sinclair, Henryetta; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Chandler with the Rev. Thom Chappelle officiating under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Bill J. James

Bill J. James of Oklahoma City died Monday. He was 54.

He was born Nov. 29, 1944, in Shawnee to Harry C. James and Elsie Jarvis James. He was schooled in Shawnee and graduated in 1963.

He started his own business as a real estate appraiser in 1977, and was a supporter of Alcoholics Anonymous, including formerly serving as chairman of the board for the 3020 Club.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret James; his father, Harry, and one brother, Harry Jr.

Surviving are his mother, Elsie James; a son, Harry Robert James; two daughters, Rebecca S. Carico and husband Ronnie; Mickie J. Smith and husband Michael; two stepdaughters, Valerie S. McHargue and husband James; Mellissa C. Kimbrough and husband, Jim; one grandchild, Harlee M. Nombrana; two stepgrandchildren, Taylor A. McHargue and M. Trent Kimbrough.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Guardian Midtown Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Valley Hope Rehabilitation Center, 5010 N. Drexel Blvd., Oklahoma City, Ok, 73112.

Arrangements are under the direction of Midtown Funeral Directors and Cremations Services.

Elsie Lillian Underwood

Elsie Lillian Underwood of Seminole died Saturday at the age of 89.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church, Seminole. The Rev. Charles Troglin and the Rev. Dewayne Bobitt will officiate. Burial will be at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

She was born May 28, 1909, near Vernon, Ala., the daughter of Jessie and Mary Jane (Smith) Jones. She married the Rev. Gerald R. "Shorty" Underwood on May 10, 1929, in Perry and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Underwood worked for 26 years at Pat's Cafe and also worked a few years at Harvest House. She was a member of Seminole's First Assembly of God Church and Coney Island Tabernacle.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1996; her parents, and nine brothers and sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Jimmy Underwood, Seminole; Jessie Underwood, Shawnee, and three grandchildren, Aaron Underwood, Shawnee, Joshua Underwood and Leslie Underwood, both of Seminole.

Jewell F. Hudson

Longtime Tecumseh resident Jewell F. Hudson died Sunday at the age of 81.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Roger Ballard will officiate.

She was born March 10, 1918, in Llano, Texas, to Henry and Mae (Thompson) Mansell. She was a graduate of Drumright High School and Gordon Cooper Nursing School.

She moved to Tecumseh in 1953 and was a licensed practical nurse at Mission Hill Memorial Hospital for 13 years. She retired in 1974.

She married Rufus Lee Hudson in Drumright on May 15, 1937. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Tecumseh.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1987; a daughter, Jean Hudson, and eight brothers and sisters.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Ann Akins, Tecumseh; grandsons and their spouses, James Paul and Wendy Akins, Choctaw; John and Tracy Akins, Tecumseh; five great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brooklyn, Bethany, Baylee and Tristan Akins; sister, Jessee Shay, Vancouver, Wash.; two nieces, Sue Mansell, Drumright, Annabelle Farmer, Bristow, and many other relatives.
