Edith Francis Conway

Tecumseh resident Edith Francis Conway died Saturday at her home. She was 84.

Mrs. Conway was born Oct. 23, 1914, in Bonnie, Texas, to Arthur and Francis (Wilkins) Baker.

She married Ponder Conway on April 30, 1945, in Hamilton, Ohio.

She graduated from Bonnie (Texas) High School and later attended college in Houston, Texas. She and her husband lived in Twenty-nine Palms, Calif., for about 25 years before moving to Tecumseh in 1983.

She worked as a baker for Shawnee Regional Hospital for about five years. She also was a quilt maker. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church Broadway Congregation of Tecumseh.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Floyd and Reba Conway of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Vernita and Floyd Norvell, Michigan; sister and brother-in-law, Ret. Lt. Col. Marilyn Baker Brown and Bart Brown, Albuquerque, N.M.; brother-in-law, Bud Banfield, Colorado; grandchildren, Brian Conway Ford of the home, Ren‡ Mullinax, Shawnee, David Conway, Shawnee, Patty and Bill Benedict, Indiana, and Dusty Conway of the home; one niece; one nephew and his wife; good friend, Marie Mize, Tecumseh; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, James Marvin Conway; and one sister, Estelle Banfield.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home with Dr. William H. Bentley officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Judy J. McMahan

Judy J. McMahan of Tecumseh died Friday in Oklahoma City. She was 42.

Mrs. McMahan was born Feb. 4, 1957, in Longview, Wash., to E.E. and Oneta (Porter) Coffey.

She married Rick McMahan on July 12, 1976, in Tecumseh.

She was reared in Concord, Calif., and moved to Tecumseh in 1971. She was a 1975 graduate of Tecumseh High School and attended college for two years. She was a homemaker and worked in home health care.

Survivors include her husband, Rick McMahan of the home; son, Earl Dug McMahan of the home; parents, E.E. and Oneta Coffey, Tecumseh; mother-in-law, Jewell McMahan, Tecumseh; aunts, Ruby Sillyman, Pampa, Texas, Emilee Trask, Amarillo, Texas, Opal James, Tecumseh, and Rhoda Flowers, Phoenix, Ariz.; uncle, Paul Mears, Conchas Dam, N.M.; special lifetime friend, Denise Dunn White, Tecumseh; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harvey Spear officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel.

Dorothy L. Snowder

McLoud resident Dorothy L. Snowder died Sunday at a nursing home. She was 77.

She was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Poteau, Okla., to Douglas C. Underwood and Edna Belle Kagan Underwood.

She was a housewife.

Survivors include her husband, J.E. Snowder, McLoud; son, Robert Greenmyer, Tulsa; daughters, Sheila Bost, North Carolina; Merion Garcia, California; and Sandy Martin, McLoud; sisters, Mildred Campbell, McLoud; Lola Creed, McLoud; Margie Hammons, Meeker; and Doris Spears, California.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Jamison Cemetery northeast of Harrah under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.

Patricia J. (Haggard) Tate

Yukon resident Patricia J. (Haggard) Tate died Friday. She was 53.

She was born Aug. 1, 1945, in Shawnee.

She spent most of her life in Shawnee. She was an active member of the Shawnee community through the Jaycee Women in the late 1970s and early 1980s. She worked as a receptionist for the Department of Human Services in Pottawatomie County until 1997. She then transferred to Canadian County DHS, where she worked as the clerical supervisor. She attended the Full Gospel Church of Tecumseh.

Survivors include her father, James G. Paulson, Shawnee; sister, Gloria Carver, Flower Mound, Texas; husband, Walter Leroy Tate, Yukon; children, Connie Steffee, Shawnee, and Dannie Cross Jr., of the home; grandchild, Amanda Todd, Shawnee; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia Paulson.

An informal memorial service will be 6 p.m. today at the Cinderella Motor Inn in Shawnee. Dinner will be served.

Memorials may be made to the Russell-Murray Hospice, 221 S. Bickford, El Reno, Okla. 73036; the American Cancer Society; or other cancer-related charities.

Cora Angeline Bailey

Longtime Prague area resident Cora Angeline Bailey died Sunday in Midwest City. She was 79.

She was born Jan. 7, 1920, in Kendrick, Okla., to Ezra and Nelle (Carr) Wilson.

Mrs. Bailey married William Henry "Bill" Bailey Dec. 22, 1934. He preceded her in death June 18, 1981.

She was a resident of the Prague area most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paden. She worked for the State of Oklahoma in food service.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Rudy Allen Bailey, Prague; and Rickey and Judy Bailey, Paden; daughter, Freda L. Trett, Prague; brothers, Jack Wilson, Davenport; and James Wilson, Colby, Kan.; sister, Verna Fowler, Meeker; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, two sons, three brothers, one sister and one grandchild.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Paden with the Rev. Paul Heard officiating. Burial will be in the Paden Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.

Edith Ann Wall

Shawnee resident Edith Ann Wall died Saturday at a local nursing home. She was 95.

Mrs. Wall was born June 24, 1904, in Fayette County, Ill., to David and Laura Smyth.

She was a member of the Church of God.

Survivors include her son, James Wall, Guthrie; daughter, Evodna Mae Marier, Shawnee; stepdaughter, Evelyn Margorie Gunnels, Houston, Texas; sister, Mary Vivian McClain, Clinton, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Perry Wall, on Jan. 19, 1975, and one sister, Ora Parsons.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Church of God with Brother Michael Smith and Brother Stanley Dickson officiating. Burial will be in Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Robert L. O'Neal

Lifetime Tecumseh resident Robert L. "Bob" O'Neal died Tuesday in Shawnee. He was 75.

He was born June 22, 1924, in Tecumseh to James Gordon and Julia V. (Green) O'Neal.

He married Trelma Humphrey Feb. 14, 1947, in Tecumseh.

O'Neal attended Tecumseh Public Schools and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1942.

He was a veteran of World War II, and he served with the U.S. Army 140 Ordinance Division in Europe and the South Pacific. He also served during the Korean War in 1950 and 1951.

He worked with the Crocker Packing Co. in Tecumseh and later owned the Sanitary Grocery. Following his service in Korea, he purchased the Sanitary Locker Plant and operated the Tecumseh Tag Office with the locker plant until 1970.

He was a tag agent in Shawnee from 1970 to 1985. He then worked with the Shawnee Housing Authority for 12 years before retiring in 1997.

O'Neal was a member of the American Legion Hill-Huett Post No. 260, Tecumseh, as well as the Tecumseh Alumni Association. He was a retired firefighter with the Tecumseh Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Trelma O'Neal, of the home; sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Walt Kent, Tecumseh; brother, Bill O'Neal, Tecumseh; sisters-in-law, Ora Mae O'Neal and Cleta Joy Humphrey, both of Tecumseh; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wendell O'Neal; one sister-in-law, Maxine O'Neal; and one brother-in-law, Fred Humphrey. He also was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy O'Neal, on Aug. 12, 1998.

Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Bill Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery.

Christina Ann Throne

Chandler resident Christina Ann Throne died Monday in Chandler. She was 47.

She was born Jan. 17, 1952, in Long Island, N.Y., to Newton J. and Theresa J. (Pszybysz) Throne.

She lived in the Chandler area several years and worked as a nurse.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Elisha Gladden Jr., Carney; daughters and sons-in-law, Selinda Gladden and Chris Hayes, Chandler, and Tracy and Jason Mentzer, Chandler; grandchildren, Braxton, Kelsey, Shelby and Mesashea; brothers, Henry N. Throne, Warner, and Richard Throne, Flagler, Fla.; sisters, Sandy Munier, Tryon, Shirley Carriles, Simi Valley, Calif., and Janet M. Throne, Perkins; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Assembly of God Church of Tryon with the Rev. Lorn Starling officiating. Burial will be at the Tryon Cemetery under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

William Everett Meade

Shawnee resident William Everett Meade died Monday at a local nursing home. He was 92.

He was born July 1, 1906, in Blackwell, Indian Territory.

He married Glenna Powell in Arkansas. They were married for 54 years.

He lived in Kingfisher, El Reno and Midwest City for 20 years. He then lived in Caney for 20 years before moving to Shawnee eight years ago.

He worked as an implement mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Glenna Meade, Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Irl and Nadine Meade, Shawnee; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons.

A private memorial service will be held at Neal Cemetery. Burial will be in Neal Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Edna Waite

Seminole resident Edna Waite died Sunday at her home. She was 85.

She was born Sept. 1, 1913, in western New York to David and Maria (Hinterberger) Congo.

She was married to Oscar J. Waite, who preceded her in death in 1996.

She worked in the office of the Waite-Reimer Building Co. with her husband.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Alix and Marvin Botsford, Seminole; grandchildren, Kim Chapman, Seminole, Hal Jon Botsford, Shawnee, and Mark James Botsford, Oklahoma City; and great-grandchildren, Adam Daniel Botsford, Seminole, Kassi Petite Chapman, Seminole, and Tori Lynn Botsford, Silver Springs, Fla.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
