Mary Lou (Flowers) Reich Troglin

Mary Lou (Flowers) Reich Troglin died Monday at her home in Seminole County. She was 52.

Mrs. Troglin was born on Dec. 9, 1946, in Shreveport, La., to Ardis and Ruby Pearl (McBeth) Flowers. She married Charles Ray Troglin Sr. on Sept. 19, 1990, in Oklahoma City. She was a homemaker and a member of the Coney Island Tabernacle in Bowlegs.

Mrs. Troglin, a lifelong resident of Seminole County, was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby; and a grandson, Joshua Dean Reich.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, Ardis and Nettie Flowers, Shreveport, La.; her husband, Charles Ray Troglin Sr., of the home; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Dean Wayne Reich, Wewoka; Larry Micheal and Angela Reich, Wewoka; and Charles Wayne Troglin, Bowlegs; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Shelly and Lee Wayne Fowler, Sasakwa; and Angela and David Lucas, Wewoka; two brothers, Kenneth and Timmy Flowers, both of Louisiana; three sisters, Carolyn Tucker, Konawa; Shirley Bolton and Gail Warner, both of Louisiana; five grandchildren, Heather Lucas, Ashley Lucas, Nathan Fowler, Katey Fowler and Brandon Reich; and the father of her children, Larry D. Reich, Holdenville.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Wolf Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Wayne Fowler and the Rev. John Chesser officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Eugene Robert Collier

Eugene "Gene" Robert Collier of Shawnee died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 74.

He was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Butler to Everett Roy and Eula Mary (Lee) Collier.

He married Essie O. Corgill June 1, 1954, in Konawa.

Collier graduated from high school and attended Neff Business College. He was a truck driver for Mistletoe Express for 27Ý years until he retired. He owned the Collier Pastry Shop in Shawnee. He was a World War II veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal.

Collier attended the Golden Acre Baptist Church. He lived in Shawnee most of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Essie O. Collier, of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Ronny Collier, Norman, and Robert and Rosanna Collier, Bethel Acres; daughters and son-in-law, Barbara Collier, Shawnee, and Kimberly and Brian Gilliam, Meeker; brothers, Virgil Collier, Stillwater, Leroy Collier, Odesa, Texas, Dan Collier, Medford, and Charles Collier, Bethel Acres; sisters, Ruby Wright, Rosie Fogle and Lorene Buckmaster, all of Shawnee; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters-in-law and a brother in-law.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clifton Briscoe and the Rev. Tom Hall. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Ruth Ann Marrs

Okemah resident Ruth Ann Marrs died Monday at an Okemah nursing home. She was 93.

Mrs. Marrs was born Sept. 2, 1905, in Vinita to E.C. and Minnie Ellen (Ferguson) Dalquest. On Aug. 25, 1927, she married David Mathews Marrs Jr. in Claremore.

She was a homemaker and member of the Okemah First Baptist Church, the Embroidery Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Marrs had resided in Okemah since 1940.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David in 1969; a daughter, Jean Ann; two brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John David and Jacqueline Marrs, Williamston, Mich.; a grandson, David Marrs, Durand, Mich.; a granddaughter, Susan Wilkis, Okemos, Mich.; a great-grandson, Jonathan David Marrs, Durand, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. H.E. and Nola Barnard officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulsa.

Tyler Paul Campbell

Tyler Paul Campbell died Sunday. He was 3 months old.

Tyler was born May 12, 1999, to Angela Williams and Gregory Campbell, Konawa.

Survivors include his mother and father; brother, Cristian Campbell, Konawa; and a host of family and friends.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Cemetery with Father Brown, O.S.B., officiating under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home, Konawa.

Dicie L. Young

Shawnee resident Dicie L. Young died Monday at her Shawnee home. She was 90.

Mrs. Young was born July 21, 1909, in Welch to Thomas Adams and Ludie (Featherston) Adams. She married Robert Oscar Young on Sept. 21, 1926. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Sawyer.

She had lived in Shawnee since 1977. She was a former resident of Harrah and Sawyer.

Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ludie; her husband, Robert in 1975; a son, Vernon "Pete" Young; one brother; and two half sisters.

Survivors include five sons, Oscar Young Jr., Moore; Calvin Young, Tecumseh; Earl Young, Arlington, Texas; Virgil Young, Oklahoma City; and James Young, Harrah; a daughter, Charlene Thomas, Shawnee; and 21 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be made to the Shawnee Regional Cancer Hospital Foundation.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Waldo Young and Chad Fetzer officiating. A committal service is set for 3 p.m. at the Spencerville Cemetery in Spencerville.

Bill Vane

Bill Vane, 93, died Tuesday in his Shawnee home.

The son of Harry and Vada (James) Vane was born in Robinson, Ill., on Nov. 24, 1907. He attended school in Covington.

Vane worked in the oil fields, was a core maker in the steel industry and held various other jobs.

On April 8, 1932, he married Maudie Ritchie in Muskogee. The couple made their first home in Preston.

Vane, who had lived in Shawnee since 1964, was a member of Wallace Avenue Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his wife; parents; brother, Harry Vane, and sister, Bonnie Rowland.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Dale Gibson of Shawnee; a grandson, Danny Gibson of Welch; a granddaughter and her husband, Donna and Danny Dodd of McLoud; a great-grandson, Steven Dodd of McLoud; a great-granddaughter, Cassie Dodd of McLoud; one niece and one nephew.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park. The Rev. DuWayne Colvin will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Peggy Louise Hale

Peggy Louise Hale, 56, Shawnee, died Wednesday at a Shawnee hospital.

Services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole, with the Rev. James Rider officiating. Burial will follow in Stubblefield Cemetery in Hughes County.

She was born Oct. 12, 1944, in Holdenville to Bert and Mollie (Roberts) Green.

Mrs. Hale, who had lived in Shawnee since 1984, was a homemaker and home provider for the elderly. She was a member of God's Glory Temple in Seminole and TLC Mental Health Group.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jan Green and Jimmy Green; and infant brother, Buddy Green.

Survivors include her children, Penny and Smokey Tipton, Paoli; Burton and Lisa Hale, Moore; Bart Hale, Holdenville; Robert Hale, Shawnee; Robbie and Kent Wheeler, Edmond; Jerry and Dara Hale, Moore; Terri and Hershel Ring, Shawnee; Jimmy Hale, Shawnee; Jamie Hale, Kingsville, Texas; special friend, Papa Gene; brothers and sisters, Johnnie and Joe Gatewood, Edna Conley and L.G. Green, all of Holdenville, and Dean and George Horn, Seminole; 18 grandchildren and many other family members.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Melvin Floyd Griffin

Melvin Floyd "Popcorn" Griffin, 73, Meeker, died Tuesday in Midwest City Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Okarche on Dec. 29, 1927, the son of James Elzie and Pearl Maude (Halbert) Griffin.

Griffin, a U.S. Army veteran, was an electrician at Tinker Air Force Base, working in plant services. He retired in 1974 after 24 years of service.

A resident of the Meeker area since 1952, Griffin drove a school bus for Meeker schools and was an active member of the Jacktown Fire Department.

He was a member of Mammoth Baptist Church.

He was married Nov. 19, 1948, in Meeker to Mary LaDawn Floyd, who preceded him in death April 4, 2000.

Griffin also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Melvin Leon "Sandy" Griffin; a grandson, William Randel "Randy" Griffin; a son-in-law, Gary Gee, and his brothers, Leonard, Bill, Leroy, Bob and John Griffin.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Rita Griffin of Newalla, and Jim and Eugenia Griffin of Wellston; daughters and sons-in-law, Ginger Gee of Shawnee; Sherri and Steve Courtemanche of Harrah, and Terri and Dean Hayhurst of Harrah; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until noon Friday at Parks Brothers Funeral Service Chapel in Meeker.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mammoth Baptist Church in Meeker. The Rev. Joseph Sinko will officiate and burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Meeker. The arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.

Dr. Roy Dewitt King

Roy Dewitt King, M.D., former state surgeon of the Oklahoma Army National Guard, died late Tuesday at Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 63.

He was born in Muskogee Nov. 13, 1937, to Edna Mable (White) and Alton D. King. He grew up in the oil patch of Barnsdall, where he attended school. On June 1, 1958, he married Beverly Cabe in Pawhuska.

Dr. King graduated from the University of Oklahoma Medical School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Navy for two years and, from 1968 to 1974, he served in the U.S. Air Force.

Dr. King was state surgeon of the Oklahoma Army National Guard from 1974 through 1990.

He retired from his Holdenville medical office in 1994, but continued to practice in Konawa on a part-time basis.

Preceding him in death was his brother, Jerry E. King.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; his sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Daryl and Leslie King of Shawnee, and Ronald David and Renee King of Stillwater; and grandchildren, Chris and Matthew King of Shawnee, and Sarah and Hope King of Stillwater.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Hudson-Phillips Chapel in Holdenville. The Rev. Wade Burleson will officiate. Burial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. The Rev. Gary Bowden will officiate for the burial.

Jean A. Hammons

Jean A. Hammons, 84, Shawnee, died Tuesday at her home.

A memorial service is set for 1 p.m. Friday at the Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glen Pence officiating.

She was born Jan. 5, 1917, in St. Joseph, Mo., the daughter of William and Florence Albright, Holdenville. She grew up in Texas and Oklahoma.

Mrs. Hammons, a graduate of Holdenville High School, attended St. Scholastica Academy in Fort Smith, Ark. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority when she was a student at Oklahoma State University, Mo.

She was married Jan. 28, 1939, to Jack B. Hammons, Shawnee, who died Nov. 2, 1982.

Mrs. Hammons also was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, J.B. and Mary Hammons, Tulsa, and Bill and Janet Hammons, Norman; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
