Scott C. Oldrid

Scott C. Oldrid, 58, of North Kingstown, died Wednesday at Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center. He was the dedicated husband of Lori J. (Verrier) Oldrid and the son of the late Norman and Dorothy (Baron) Oldrid.

Scott was a Sheet Metal Mechanic for the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics in Quonset for 31 years. He was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1970 and served as an assistant coach for N.K.A.L.L. for six years.

A devout Christian, he was a member of The Living Hope Christian Church in North Kingstown.

He was the proud and loving father of Joshua A. Oldrid and Kyle N. Oldrid, both of Warwick. Beloved brother of Matthew Oldrid of New Jersey and the late Richard Oldrid. Caring son in law of Albert and Rose Verrier and brother in law of Chris and Lyn Allen and Joann Oldrid. Cherished uncle of a niece and four nephews.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Funeral Service at 10:00 am in The Living Hope Christian Church, 730 South County Trail, North Kingstown. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Scott's memory to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated.

Rita F. O'Leary

Rita F. O'Leary passed away peacefully on Monday , August 3,after a two year illness.

She leaves behind two daughters, Sharyn O'Leary and Susan O'Leary D'Ambra, two granddaughters, Robyn Giachelli and Kendra O'Leary Espeut, and her beloved cat, Baby.

Retired from the Air National Guard for over 20 years, Rita was active in the Foster Grandparent program and had a busy social life at the Matthew XXV housing in Warwick.

At her request there will be no calling hours. Friends and family are invited to visit her Facebook page to share memories and condolences. Arrangements are incomplete at this time and details will be posted on FaceBook.

Mary K. (Javor) Orris

Mary K. (Javor) Orris, R.N., 92, formerly of Quaker Hill, died Friday July 10, 2009 at The Scandinavian Home, Cranston, RI. She was the wife of the late Robert P. Orris. Born in Montville, CT, she was a daughter of the late K. Richard and Blanche (Sowenska) Javor.

Mrs. Orris was a Registered Nurse at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a graduate of Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing, Class of 1938 and was a life member of the Alumni Association. She volunteered for Hospice Southeastern Connecticut and was a member of the “Over The Hill Gang” a Senior Citizen Hiking Club in Waterford. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Quaker Hill where she served on the Ladies Guild.

She was the loving mother of Lisa O. Betcher of Riverside, RI, Robert P. Orris of Medusa, NY, and Jonathan K. Orris of Bethel, CT. Cherished grandmother of four and great grandmother of one. Caring sister of Edward Javor of Montville, CT, Walter Javor of Clinton, CT and the late Stanley T. Javor and Marjorie Armband. She was the companion of the late Domenic Dippolina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 11:30am in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 63 Old Norwich Road, Quaker Hill. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, New London. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to The Scandinavian Home, Skilled Nursing Facility, 1811 Broad Street, Cranston, RI 02905 would be appreciated. Arrangements by The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, Warwick, RI.

Lena M. (Mainelli) Paolantonio

Lena M. (Mainelli) Paolantonio, 86, a homemaker of Cheshire Drive, Cranston, died Monday at Westview Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Antonio N. Paolantonio.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Philomena (Vendetti) Mainelli.

She was the beloved mother of Raymond A. Paolantonio and his wife Lori of Warwick and Lois A. Lombari and her husband Michael of Cranston. Caring sister of Nicholas Mainelli and Jennie Canzone, both of Providence and Julio Mainelli of Johnston. Loving grandmother of Stephen Lombari, Eric Lombari, Danielle Rezendes, and Rachel Paolantonio. Cherished great grandmother of four.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 8:45 am from THE PRATA-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Brayton Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday 5-8 pm.

Arnold W. Pearson

Arnold W. Pearson, 90, of Gardiner Road, died Friday, July 10 in Shady Acres Nursing Home, West Kingston. He was the husband of the late Doris V. (Youngberg) Pearson.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Anton and Anna (Wenneberg) Pearson.

A veteran of The United States Coast Guard, Mr. Pearson served in World War II.

He had been employed as a supervisor with Amica Mutual Life Insurance Company.

Mr. Pearson was graduate of Bryant College, and a member of F & AM Harmony Lodge #9.

He was the father of Douglas W. Pearson of Cumberland and Janet L. Tobin of Wakefield; the brother of Elvie Johnson and Virginia Westbon; the grandfather of Jason Tobin and Christina Callahan; and the great grandfather of two.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 am in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 55 Main St., Wickford Village, North Kingstown to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. Calling hours respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to Bryant University, Att. Scholarships, 1150 Douglas Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917, F & AM Harmony Lodge #9 , 1237 Reservoir Ave., Cranston, RI 02920, or Shady Acres Nursing Home, 415 Gardiner Rd., West Kingston, RI 02892 would be appreciated. Frank A. Petrarca, III

Frank A. Petrarca, III, 42, of Warwick died at home on June 22, 2009. He was born in Providence, a son of the late Frank A. Petrarca, Jr. and Carol Ann (Fleming) Petrarca.

Mr. Petrarca was a landscaper and a life long resident of the city. He was an avid musician and played the drums with several area bands.

He leaves a son, Michael A. Petrarca, a daughter Jenna Marie Petrarca , and a sister, Tracy A. Petrarca-Petrella, all of Warwick. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 9:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 596 Jefferson Blvd. Warwick, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Arrangements by THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME.

James E. Pettigrew

James E. Pettigrew, 82, of Elmwood Avenue, Warwick, died Monday at Rhode Island Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of June A. (Cave) Pettigrew for 57 years.

Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late James E. and Agnes (Taylor) Pettigrew.

Mr. Pettigrew was a Letter Carrier for The United States Postal Service for 36 years until his retirement. He served in The United States Navy during WW II.

He was the loving father of Pamela J. Godbout and her husband David of Warwick. Cherished grandfather of Mindy and Steven Deering.

His funeral services will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements by THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME.

Seldon N. Porter

Seldon N. Porter, died Tuesday in The Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center.

He was the husband of Ruth S. (Salisbury) Porter. He was the father of Barbara Joanne Conn of Jamestown, Daniel L. Porter of Peacedale, Elaine S. Clare of North Kingstown, and David L. Porter of San Diego, CA; the brother of George S. Porter of North Kingstown; grandfather of seven and great grandfather of thirteen. He was the brother of the late Madeline M. Stickney.

His funeral will be held today, Thursday at 1:00 pm in The First Baptist Church of North Kingstown, 1135 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown, to which relatives and friends are invited.

Burial with military honors will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown. Calling hours respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to The First Baptist Church of North Kingstown or Home & Hospice Care of RI would be appreciated. Arrangements by THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.
