Martha Huskey

MARION — Martha Ann Huskey died Friday, December 24, 2004, in McLeod Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29 in Rose Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Scott Collins officiating. The services will be directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home.

Ms. Huskey was born November 2, 1944, in Marion, a daughter of the late Martin Gary Huskey and the late Dorothy Lee Edmund Huskey. She was a former claims manager with Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She was a graduate of Marion High School and attended Francis Marion University. Ms. Huskey was a member of Marion Baptist Church.

Surviving Ms. Huskey are: a Daughter: Jennifer Huskey Collins and her husband Francis A. of North Augusta; a Granddaughter: Emily N. Collins; a Sister: Nancy H. Metz of Hollywood, California; a Niece: Amy M. Dillon of Hollywood, California; an Aunt: Deborah Edmund of Florence; and several cousins and other members of the family.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 til 8 p.m. at Smith-Collins Funeral Home.

Lorraine Macur

McBEE — A Memorial Prayer Service for Lorraine Macur, age 61, who died December 26, will be Tuesday at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home.

Born in Pa., she was the daughter of Mary Cincheri Sinchock and the late Frank Sinchock. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are her mother; husband, Alexander Macur, Jr., McBee; Son, Sister, Brother, Granddaughter.

Ethel Alston

NEWBERRY — Services with burial for Ethel Louise Alston, 96, widow of Hayes Alston, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday (viewing 1 p.m.) at Fellowship Baptist Church. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Newberry Co. to James and Carrie Cannon Glasgow, she died Dec. 27, 2004. Surviving are daughter, Hazel Gates; 3 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ollie Allen, Leola Cousar, Ella Wright; others.

Bryant Brooks

ORANGEBURG — A memorial service for Bryant Demorne Brooks, 28, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Edisto Fork United Methodist Church. Glover’s Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Gloria Brooks and Frank Sanders, he died December 25, 2004. Surviving are parents; daughter, Emani Brooks; siblings, Christle Minter, Demetrius, Fabian, Jamar Brooks; other relatives.

Virginia Brooks

LANCASTER — Mrs. Virginia “Jenny” McNeil Brooks, 79, of 282 West Shiloh-Unity Road, Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at her home. Widow of the late Charlie Hobart Brooks, she was born October 21, 1925, in Cunard, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Columbus Winfield McNeil and Callie Osborne McNeil. Mrs. Brooks was a charter member of the Grace Presbyterian Church where she had been active in the Women of the Church, and had worked as a sales clerk for Robinson Cloud Clothing Store and for the Springmaid-Wamsutta Store.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 20, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. from the Grace Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Russell Wimmer. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by a daughter, Sherry B. Williams and her husband Floyd of Lancaster; two sisters, Betty Christy and her husband Ray of Kannapolis, NC, and Ruby Smith of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Larry Vaughan, Lori Williams, Dawn Shelley, Terri Sams, and Tammy Tarte; and seven great grandchildren, Ashley Shelley, Morgan Shelley, Madison Shelley, Kyle Sams, Tatum Tarte, Tyler Vaughan, and Parker Vaughan. Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Blackmon.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Grace Presbyterian Church, 1026 Grace Avenue, Lancaster, SC 29720, or to Hospice of Lancaster, 902 West Meeting Street, Lancaster, SC 29720.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel and other times at the home, 282 West Shiloh-Unity Road, Lancaster.

Joel Burris

AIKEN — Homegoing services for Joel Bruce Burris, 96, are 1 p.m. Thursday at Cumberland AME Church; burial in Sunset Memory Gardens; wake is 7-8 tonight at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home. The first African-American to work in a non-custodial capacity in the U.S. Capital Building, he died Dec. 24, 2004. Surviving: son, Girard Burris; grandchildren, Mercedes, Ashley; sisters, Naiomi Burris, Inez Johnson.

Vorise Cave

ALLENDALE — Services and burial for Vorise “Cooter” Cave, 80, are 1 p.m. Thursday at Union United Methodist Church. Cave Funeral Service is in charge. Born to Clinton Sr. and Catty Jones Cave, she died Dec. 23, 2004. Surviving are children, Bessie Elmore, Carolyn, Marion, Edward Polite, Ruby Felder, Evelyn Rich, Willie Odom; sister, Leatha Price; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Irene Clark

COLUMBIA — Services for Irene Byrd Clark, 56, widow of Raymond Clark, 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Stephens Baptist Church, Branchville; burial: Belleville Memorial Gardens. Glover’s Funeral Home, Orangeburg, is in charge. Born in Branchville to Habart and Ruth Byrd, she died Dec. 27, 2004. Surviving: sons, Kenneth, Timothy Clark; siblings, Dorothy Cruel, Minnie Funches, Jacqueline, Samuel, Horace Byrd.

Marie Davis

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Services for Marie King Davis, 93, are 11 a.m. Thursday at West Main Church of the Nazarene; burial in Laurelwood Cemetery; visitation 6-8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, Downtown, Rock Hill, S.C. Born in Rock Hill to Will and Annie King, she died Dec. 26, 2004. Surviving: children, Edward Davis Sr., Wilma Johnson, Anne Hood, Emile LaFaye, Bobbie Deese; foster sons, Bill and Frank.

Phoebe Davis

ALCOLU — Services and burial for Phoebe Davis, 94, noon Thursday at Harmony Elizabeth Presbyterian Church (USA), where she was a member. Fleming & Delaine Funeral Home, Manning, is in charge. Born to Walter and Lue Harvin Epps, stepdaughter of Annie Epps, she died Dec. 26, 2004. Surviving: children, Ada Smith, Carol Nicholson, Mattie Newman; adopted children, Linda Henry, Lee Epps.

Margaret Diamond

EASTOVER — Homegoing services for Margaret W. Taylor Diamond will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home, Columbia, with burial in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Born in Concord, N.C., to Florence Walker, she died December 26, 2004. Surviving are children, Kenneth, Henry, Curtis, Tony Taylor, Lillie Bell Portee; grandchildren.

Samuel Dukes Jr.

GREELEYVILLE — Services for Samuel Dukes Jr., 81, 1 p.m. Friday at Bethel AME Church; burial in McKnight Cemetery; wake 7 p.m. Thursday at Dimery & Rogers Funeral Home, Kingstree. Born in Lane to Samuel Sr. and Mary C. Dukes, he died Dec. 25, 2004. Surviving: wife, Mary M. Dukes; children, Timothy, Moses, Aaron, Herbert, Leroy, Leroy S., Bettye, Wilhelmenia, Rosanna, Sandra, Carolyn; stepchildren.

Clarence Eaddy Sr.

LAKE CITY — Services for Clarence Eaddy Sr., 80, widower of Gertrude Eaddy, 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church; burial in Lee Cemetery, Scranton. Green’s Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Scranton to Joe and Fannie Eaddy, he died Dec. 25, 2004. John Fulton Sr.

KINGSTREE — Services for John Wesley Fulton Sr., 75, 1 p.m. Thursday at Midway Freewill Baptist Church; burial: Kingstree Cemetery. Dimery & Rogers Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Kingstree to John Fulton and Laura F. Wallace, he died Dec. 26, 2004. Isabel Finley

CAYCE — Services for Isabel Newman Finley, 88, of Cayce, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2004, at Holland Avenue Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Charles Wilson and Rev. Frank Settle. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Carl Burkett, John Byrd, Mark Dimmick, David Finley, Billy Gates, Gene Gossett, Roy Gossett, Bobby Martin, and Mack Sims. Honorary pallbearers will be the Order of the Eastern Star-Cayce Chapter 260, Cayce Masonic Lodge, No. 384 AFM and the Winsome Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mrs. Finley, widow of Charles Elmer Finley, Sr., died Sunday, December 26, 2004. Born in Ridgeway, she was a daughter of the late William and Leila Mattox Newman. Mrs. Finley was a member of Holland Avenue Baptist Church, the Winsome Sunday School Class, and assisted at God’s Helping Hands. She was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star-Cayce Chapter 260 and had retired from Imperial Candy Company.

Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Parker of Gaston; son, Charles E. Finley, Jr. of Cayce; sisters, Hazel Settle of Gaston, Mary Martin of Cayce; grandchildren, Kay Hutchinson, Joe Parker, Tracie Finley; and great granddaughter, Lindsay Parker.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Margaret Watkins and Roberta Murria of Visiting Angels; and to Tri-County Hospice for their special love and care.
