Mary Blasser

MILLERSBURG, Pa. - Mrs. Mary E. Blasser, 71, formerly of Fort Mill, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at the Messiah Village of Upper Allen Township., Pa.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. today at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill, with the Rev. John Fastenau officiating.

A native of Millersburg, Mrs. Blasser was the daughter of the late Harvey Matter and Ronie Klinger Matter. She was a 1945 graduate of the former Millersburg High School. She had been a secretary for her husband's Servicemaster franchise and for the U.S. Air Force. She also worked for Community Banks in Millersburg. She was a member and past worthy matron of Lykens Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 425 and was a member of Amaranth Court No. 134 and the Gideons Auxiliary. In Fort Mill, she was the founder and first president of the Piedmont Chapter of the M.I. Hummel Club.

Mrs. Blasser was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pennsylvania, where she was the first woman Sunday school superintendent. She was a member of Christ Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Fort Mill.

Surviving are her husband, Mark R. Blasser; her son, Andrew R. Blasser of Harrisburg, Pa.; two daughters, Ann E. Blasser of Portland, Ore., and Beth Dietrick of Towson, Md.; two sisters, Ruth Cook of Elysburg, Pa., and Winifred Gould of Camp Hill, Pa.; and three granddaughters.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Dezaree Bruce

FORT MILL - Mrs. Dezaree Pilgrim Bruce, 80, of 113 Ervin St. died Monday, April 17, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene, with the Revs. Robert Cook and Mickey Smith officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Clinton, Mrs. Bruce was a daughter of the late Columbus B. Pilgrim and Edna Maebelle Scott Pilgrim. She had worked for Springs Industries and was retired from J. P. Stevens, Inc., in 1981. She was a member of the Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene where she was a member of the choir and the Ladies Bible's Class. She was the widow of Ansel N. Bruce.

Surviving are two sons, Leo M. Bruce of Rock Hill and Barry L. Bruce of York; two sisters, Daisy Pilgrim Shockley of Spartanburg and Eula Mae Pilgrim Phipps of Kingston, N.C.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Ola Dill

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ola Aleen Starnes Dill, 81, of 338 Community St., died Monday, April, 17, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Paul Blake officiating.

A native of Union County, N.C., Mrs. Starnes was the widow of Silas C. Sistar and Ben Dill.

Surviving are her sons, Silas C. Sistar Jr. and Jerry Wayne Sistar, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Shirley A. Collins of York and Linda Owings of Rock Hill; her sister, Edna Cooper of Charlotte; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Green Funeral Home.

Moena Cody

GASTONIA, N.C. - Mrs. Moena Cochran Cody, 77, of 3323 Goble St. died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Service, Southside Chapel, in Gastonia. A graveside service will be

11 a.m. Wednesday at Brendle Cemetery in Bryson City, N.C., with the Rev. Gary Berry officiating.

A native of Swain, N.C., Mrs. Cody was a daughter of the late Rev. Henry Cochran and Judy Bowers Cochran. She was the widow of Harvey J. Cody. She was a member of Carmel Free Will Baptist Church in York.

Surviving are three sons, Robert H. Cody of Thomasville, N.C., the Rev. John Cody of York and Harvey Cody of Gastonia; her daughter, Judy Kennedy of Mount Holly, N.C.; her brother, Lee Cochran of Bryson City; her sister, Lottie Barker of Bryson City; 12 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Service, Southside Chapel and at other times at home.

Harry Ghent

LANCASTER - Mr. Harry Wade Ghent, 77, of 2429 Charlotte Highway died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hartley Funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Lewellen and Lay Pastor Bill Sumner officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be at St. Luke United Methodist Church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Ghent was a son of the late William Harvey Ghent and Dora Agnes Steele Ghent. He was the widower of LaEunie Brown Ghent. A retired brick mason, he was a Mason with the Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 53, a member of American Legion Post No. 31, and a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his son, Rick Ghent of Lancaster; three daughters, Debbie Barrett and Linda Marshall, both of Lancaster, and Kathy Zimmerman of Fort Mill; her sister, Lois Mc-Donough of Lancaster; nine grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hartley Funeral Home.

Michael Page

LAS VEGAS - Mr. Michael Eugene Page, 41, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at home.

A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte, with the Revs. Bruce Jones and Russell Brown officiating.

A native of Dallas, Mr. Page was a son of the late Richard Eugene Page. He graduated from Charlotte Christian Academy and attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. He was employed as a telemarketer in the Las Vegas area.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Norman Page and Gerald F. Wilkin of Lake Wylie; his stepbrother, Jeffrey G. Wilkin of Nashville, Tenn.; and his maternal grandmother, Doris Kidd of Dallas.

The family will receive friends after the service at the home of the Rev. Russell and Joanne Brown, 639 Kelford Lane, Charlotte.

Willie Mae Greene

BETHUNE - Mrs. Willie Mae Chapman Temple Greene, 86, of 2194 Ridgecrest Road, Rock Hill, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at the home of daughter, Anne G. Freeman, in Bethune.

The funeral was April 6 at Shamrock Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Odell Sullivan officiating. Burial was at Green Lawn Cemetery in Great Falls.

A native of Waxhaw, N.C., Mrs. Greene was a daughter of the late William G. Chapman and Lillie Mae Carter Chapman and stepfather J.T. Temple Sr. She was the widow of John Ira Greene. She was a member of Lake Wylie Christian Assembly at Lake Wylie and formerly worked as a beautician for Helens of Fort Lawn. She was a graduate of Madame Collette's College of Beauty Culture.

Surviving are two daughters, Anne Freeman of Bethune and Martha Carnes of Rock Hill; her brother, J.T. Temple Jr. of Great Falls; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Lake Wylie Christian Assembly building fund, 5756 Charlotte Highway, Lake Wylie, SC 29710.

Margaret Walters

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. - Mrs. Margaret Catron Walters, 73, of 1204 Blackmer St., formerly of Fort Mill, died Saturday, April 15, 2000.

The funeral will be in Whittier, Calif.

Mrs. Walters was a native of Dracket, Mass.

Surviving are her husband, Grady Odell Walters; three sons, Gary Catron and Michael Catron of Garden Grove, Calif., and Ricky Catron of Hemet, Calif.; and her daughter, Sandra Kesler of Hemet, Calif.

Rose Hills Mortuary is in charge. Pope Funeral Home in Winnsboro is in charge of local arrangements.

Rebecca White

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Rebecca White, 86, of 383 Redwood Drive died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Nazareth Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. John McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. White was a member of the AP Society, the Hymn Choir No. 1 and Missionary No. 3. She also was treasurer of Hymn Choir No. 1.

Surviving are her husband, Alonzo White Sr.; four sons, Alonzo White Jr. of Dalton, Ga., Sammie Lee White and David Lee White, both of Rock Hill, and Marion Black of Charlotte; five daughters, Ethel Mae Hinton of Rockville Centre, N.Y., Barbara Dolson of New York, Dorothy Weldon and Marie Dickerson, both of Rock Hill, and Fannie White Mobley of the home; her brother, Willie Hinton of Rock Hill; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Baptist Church.

Grace Adams

HEATH SPRINGS - Mrs. Grace Catoe Adams, 87, died Monday, April 17, 2000, at White Oak Manor in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Heath Springs Baptist Church, with the Revs. Paul Smith and Clyde Wright officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Adams was a daughter of the late Doc Wesley and Allie Neal Catoe. A homemaker, she was a member of Heath Springs Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the WMU, Sunbeam and GA leader, Sunday school teacher and church pianist.

Surviving are her husband, Connie Adams; three sons, William C. Adams Jr. of Greensboro, N.C., Fred W. Adams of Lancaster and Ted C. Adams of Columbia; her brother, Cecil Catoe of Kershaw; her sister, Ara Baker of Heath Springs; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Ruby Baldwin

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ruby Brown Baldwin, 63, of 2011 Holland Road died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be private, with the Rev. Jerry Allen officiating.

A native of Wadesboro, N.C., Mrs. Baldwin was a daughter of the late William C. Brown and Hettie Bolton Brown. Mrs. Baldwin was of the Baptist faith and was a retired telephone operator for the Rock Hill Telephone Co.

Surviving are her husband, William "Clyde" Baldwin; her son, Marc Deese of Charleston; two daughters, Teresa Spell and Robin Nichols, both of Rock Hill; her sister, Ollie Matheson of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

Linda Berry

CLOVER - Ms. Linda M. Berry, 51, of 88 Russell St., Worcester, Mass., died Friday, April 14, 2000, at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Green Pond United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Amiri Hooker officiating.

A native of Clover, Ms. Berry was the daughter of Mozelle Watson Berry of Worcester and the late Haskell Berry. She graduated from Commerce High School and Holliston Junior College.

A receptionist at the UMass Medical Center, University campus, for many years, Ms. Berry was a member of Christ Tabernacle Apostolic Church where she taught Sunday School. She was a member of Call to Prayer ministry, published the Christian newspaper The Lamb and co-founded the Christians Fighting Cancer Support Group.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are three sons, Todd A. Berry of Houston, Texas, and Jonathan A. Berry and James M. Berry, both of Worcester; her daughter, Tawana L. Berry-Wright of Worcester; her brother, Carl H. Berry of Manacors, Va.; three sisters, Hazel D. Berry and Phyllis Berry, both of Worcester, and Terry D. Starnes of Clover; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the church and other times at the home of Terry Berry Starnes on Zion Church Road in Clover.

Nola Boone

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Nola Hightower Boone, 79, of 109 Tower Lane died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Barberville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ned Webb officiating. Burial will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

A native of Haywood County, Mrs. Boone was a daughter of the late Thomas Pinkney and Daphane Burress Mitchell. Mrs. Boone was widowed by her first husband, Roy Hightower. She was retired from Dayco Corp. with 35 years service. She was a member of Barberville Baptist Church, where she was president of the WMU and served as treasurer for 34 years. She was a member of Hazelwood Boosteretts, Haywood Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and Silver Bluff Nursing Home Ladies Auxiliary. She taught Sunday school at Chestnut Park Rest Home and the Outreach Ministry for shut-ins. She was secretary of the WMC Chapter of the Alzheimer's Group.

Surviving are her husband, Homer H. Boone; her daughter, Evelyn H. Grasty of Rock Hill; her son, Jerry M. Hightower of Waynesville; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Bell of Raleigh, N.C., Gwendolyn Luton of Del-Vallee, Texas, and Evelyn Mullis of Pelion; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at Wells Funeral Home and at other times at home.
