MAGGIE W. FOUNTAIN

Maggie Wilson Fountain, 77, wife of David Fountain, died May 31, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born July 5, 1926, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Jake Wilson and Azalee Blanding Wilson. She attended Clarendon County public schools. At an early age, she joined the Mt. Zero Missionary Baptist Church, where she served until she was called to her eternal rest. She was employed by Sumter School District 17 as a cook for 24 years. During her employment with the school system, she touched the lives of many young people. She enjoyed working in her flower garden.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Fountain-Robinson of Decatur, Ga., and Shirley A. Fountain of Charlotte, N.C.; one son, David Fountain Jr. of the home; one brother, Richard Wilson of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one sister, Mary A. Wilson of Norwalk, Conn.; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

The remains will be placed in the church at noon Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Mt. Zero Missionary Baptist Church, Paxville, with the Rev. Henry Pressley, pastor, and the Rev. Levern McKenny, officiating eulogist. Burial will be in Mt. Zero Missionary Baptist Churchyard cemetery, Paxville.

Pallbearers will be trustees.

Floral bearers will be the Missionary Society and friends of the family.

The funeral procession will leave at 12:15 p.m. from the home, 62 James Village Apts., Sumter.

Williams Funeral Home Inc. of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

NAOMI C. JAMES

Naomi C. James, 61, widow of Jim Davis, died June 3, 2004, at Providence Hospital.

Born Aug. 19, 1942, in Bishopville, she was a daughter of the late William and Jessie Brunson Clark.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Mishaun Pearson, 516 W. Oakland Ave., Sumter 29150.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

SHERYL K. THIGPEN

CADES -- Miss Sheryl Kaye Thigpen, 56, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, in a Florence hospital, after an illness.

Miss Thigpen was born in Sumter, a daughter of the late Rev. John Hugh and Azalee Bennett Thigpen. She was a graduate of Johnsonville High School and the owner and operator of Sheryl's Style Center. She was a member of Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Johnny (Jo) Thigpen of Lake City and William (Sondra) Thigpen of New Zion; one sister, Phyllis (Dale) Coward of Coward; eight nieces and nephews, Michelle Beard, Julia Ann Holsonback, Rebecca Holsonback, and Tamara Bryant, all of Lake City, Lynn McGee of Scranton, Johnny Thigpen Jr. of Cades, Christopher Coward of Coward and William Thigpen of Turbeville; and seven grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. today in Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1856 New Zion Road, Lake City, SC 29560.

Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge.

LESLIE DAVIS

BALTIMORE - Leslie "LD" Davis, husband of Mrs. Ruby Lee Pompey Davis, of Baltimore, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at his residence.

He was born in Manning (Hallie Town).

Survivors include his wife of Baltimore; a brother, Julius Davis; and two sisters, Catherine Caldwell and Mary Davis Mazyck; all of Manning.

The family will receive friends at the residence in Baltimore.

ROBERT LEE HOLLIDAY

Robert Lee (Bobby) Holliday, 45, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Palmetto Health Richland.

Born on Feb. 12, 1959, in Summerton, he was a son of Dorothy Holliday Conyers and RIchard Conyers of Sumter.

He attended Clarendon County public schools. In his youth, he joined Mt. Chapel Baptist Church, Jordan, where he sang on the junior choir. He was a 1977 graduate of Manning High School. Upon graduation, he entered the armed forces where he served his country. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, he made his home in Columbia, where he lived until his untimely death.

Survivors besides his parents include one son, Robert David Samuel of Connecticut; two brothers, Roosevelt Holliday and Richard A. Conyers of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Cynthia (George) McDaniel of Charlotte and Jackie (George) Jacobs of Columbia; his grandfather, WIllie Holliday of Sumter; and his grandmother Corine Conyers of Summerton.

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, June 7, 2004, from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with Bishop W.T. English, the officiating eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Lee Earnest Harvin.

Burial will be in Florence National cemetery, Florence.

Pallbears will be friends of the family.

Floral bearers will be friends of the family.

The funeral procession will leave at 11:30 a.m. from the home of his mother, Dorothy Holliday Conyers, 863 Griffin St., Sumter.

DALZELL - James Michael Blevins, 41, died Saturday, June 4, 2004, at his residence.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Bullock Funeral Home of Sumter.

PAULINE ALLEN JOHNSON

REMBERT - Mrs. Pauline Allen Johnson, widow of Mr. Burrell E. Johnson Jr., died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Tuomey Health Care Systems.

Born on Oct. 28, 1928, in Gaffney, she was a daughter of the late Paul Tate and the late Lula Davis Allen.

Her education was obtained in the schools of Gaffney, S.C. and New York. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and was owner of the Johnson Community Care Home and Facility in Rembert.

Survivors include one son, Joseph M. Carter of Decatur, Ga.; two daughters, Paulette T. Carter of Spartanburg and Anita M. Carter of Rembert; an adopted daughter, Rose Marie Smith of Gaffney; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Georgia M. Littlejohn, Juanita Allen and Alfred Allen.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 7, 2004, at 2 p.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, Oakland Avenue, Sumter, with Fr. Allstair McKay, C.S.S.R. officiating.

Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park, Sumter.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 4640 Peach Orchard Road, Rembert.

ROYCE D. DICKSON Jr.

BISHOPVILLE -- Royce D. Dickson Jr., 47, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

Born in Dallas, he was a son of Royce D. Dickson Sr. and the late Zerna Pestriedge Dickson. He resided in Bishopville and was a self-employed painter. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his father of Malacoff, Texas; a son, Kyle Ellis Dickson; his ex-wife, Wendy Price Dickson of North Carolina; two sisters, Delta Watford of Bishopville and Charlotte Simms of Dallas; his mother-in-law, Letha Price of Bishopville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wyman and Clement Price, Jennifer and Dekel Logan, all of Bishopville, Ricky and Brenda Ardis, Ebbie and Sherry Price, and Delmar Watford, all of Sumter; three nieces; and one nephew.

Burial will be in Dallas.

Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home of Bishopville is in charge of arrangements.

JOHN H. BARTHOLOMA

Retired Lt. Col. John Hervin Bartholoma, 73, widower of Dawn M. Steltenpohl Bartholoma, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at his home.

Born in Haigler, Neb., he was a son of the late John Bartholoma and the late Myrtle Parks Bartholoma. Mr. Bartholoma was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where he served on the administrative board and on the financial committee as treasurer. In 1951, Mr. Bartholoma graduated from the University of Oregon and received his commission into the U.S. Air Force. He was a command pilot with more than 5,000 hours in the cockpit. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. During his military career, he flew the T-6, F-80, T-33, B-25, F-89, F-86, RB-66 and RF-4.

In September 1964, Mr. Bartholoma flew the first RF-4 into Shaw Air Force Base. During his tour in Vietnam, he flew more than 390 missions, 20 of those over North Vietnam. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Medal with 11 oak leaf clusters. From the time of his retirement from the U.S. Air Force in 1971 until the time of his death, Mr. Bartholoma was a practicing CPA in Sumter. He was also a member of the F-86 and B-66 Pilots Associations, the Technical Reconnaissance Association, the Air Force Association, and the Retired Officers Association. He was a member of the S.C. Association of CPA's and the American Institute of CPA's.

Surviving are a son, John C. Bartholoma of Sumter; two daughters, Debbie Bartholoma-Pues and husband, Randy, of Timmonsville and Kenna B. Rusk and husband, Dave, of Yorktown, Va.; a sister, Dorothy June Hardenbrook of Caldwell, Idaho; and two grandchildren, Mitchell R. Rusk and Mallory M. Rusk.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. Louis Jamison, the Rev. Vince Halter and the Rev. Bruce Cleasby officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Randy Pues, Dave Rusk, Tim Dixon, Ken Hamilton, Paul Krouse and Billy Smith.

The family will receive friends at the home, 201 Nash St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

PRINCESS ARLINE D. WILLIAMS

HORATIO -- Princess Arline Diggs Williams, 37, died July 11, 2004, at her residence, 7450 Coon Ridge Road, Horatio.

Born Sept. 17, 1966, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Alexander Diggs and Mamie Williams Diggs.

The family will receive friends at the home of her aunt, Fannie Mickens, 6755 Richbow Road, Rembert.

Services will be announced by Williams Funeral Home Inc. of Sumter.

OLETA M. HUGGINS

LUGOFF -- Funeral services for Oleta Mathis Huggins, 85, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, with burial to follow in St. John's United Methodist Church cemetery (Springhill) with the Rev. Pam Ledbetter officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 720 Gracern Road, Suite 122, Columbia, SC 29210 or to St. John's United Methodist Church, 45 Roseborough Road, Lugoff, SC 29078.

Mrs. Huggins died Thursday, July 15, 2004. Born in Woodrow, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Osteen and Dessie Hawkins Mathis. She was a graduate of Central High School and the valedictorian of her class. Mrs. Huggins was a guard on the 1936 All State Girl's Basketball Team. She was a graduate of Southern School of Cosmetology in Norfolk, Va. Mrs. Huggins was the cosmetologist for the Camden Winter Colony, a volunteer at the A. Sam Karesh Longterm Care and Lugoff Elementary School.

Surviving are her husband, James Boyce Huggins; daughter, Jodie Huggins Hodge and her husband, Howard B., of Great Falls; son, J. Boyce Huggins and his wife, Martha, of Camden; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Samuel L. Mathis of Bishopville.

She was predeceased by an infant son and a brother, J.O. Mathis.
