DUE WEST — Julia Seawright McElreath, 100, of 945 Lindsey Cemetery Road, widow of Claude T. McElreath, passed away Jan. 13, 2001, at Abbeville Nursing Home.
Born in Donalds, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Holloway and Margaret Austin Seawright. She was a retired floor lady with Huggins Garment Co., Donalds, and a member of Old Greenville Presbyterian Church near Shoals Junction.
Survivors include a sister, Miriam Seawright Hagan of Due West.
Services will be at 3 today at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville, conducted by the Rev. Dr. George Wilson. Burial will be in Old Greenville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2-3 at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Old Greenville Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 157, Donalds, S.C. 29638.

Esther ‘Jane’ Morgan

McCORMICK — Esther “Jane” Bigbee Morgan, 67, of 508 Virginia St., wife of Ernest “Eugene” Morgan, passed away Jan. 13, 2001, at her home.
Born in Joplin, Mo., she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Gertrude Burns Bigbee. She lived in San Jose, Calif., for 18 years and in McCormick for 18 years. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Johnny Stansberry of San Jose, Jan Stansberry of Plaverville, Calif., Kevin Morgan of Greenwood and Dale Cooper of McCormick; two daughters, Debbie Archuleta, of Patterson, Calif., and Pamela Ouzts of McCormick; a brother, Elmer Bigbee of Oregon; two sisters, Billie B. Rodgers of Evansville, Ind., and Dee B. Webber of Fullerton, Calif.; 23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 Wednesday in Overbrook Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Lynn.
Visitation is from 7-9 Tuesday at Strom Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Pamela Ouzts, Highway 221, McCormick.
Strom Funeral Home is in charge.

Willie Ann Oxner

LEESVILLE — Willie Ann Oxner, 68, of Route 7, Box 205, widow of James L. “Jack” Oxner, passed away Jan. 13, 2001.
Born in Lexington, she was a daughter of the late L.E. “Pic” and Ellen Elizabeth Hendrix Amick. She was a member of Mount Hebron Lutheran Church and the WELCA.
Survivors include a son, Wade K. Oxner of Leesville; three daughters, Deborah Oxner Cook, Barbara Oxner Brock and Norma O. Price, all of Leesville; three brothers, L.E. “Bob” Amick of Greenwood and Ronald Amick and Dwight Amick, both of Lexington; three sisters, Carolyn Sanders of Batesburg, Susie Scoggins of Johnston and Patsy Corley of Lexington; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 today at Mount Hebron Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Mark S. Bredholt.
Memorials may be made to Mount Hebron Lutheran Church, Route 8, Box 469-C, Leesville, S.C. 29070 or Saluda Council on Aging, P.O. Box 507, Saluda, S.C. 29138.

J.B. Ashley

IVA — Jesse Bell Ashley, 86, of 107 Deborah St., husband of Clara Hayes Ashley, passed away Jan. 15, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Abbeville, he was a son of the late Lewis S. and Daisy Moore Ashley. He retired from Jackson Mills and was a Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jesse Ray Ashley of Iva; a daughter, Barbara McGill of Iva; three brothers, Max Ashley, Hollis Ashley and Aaron Woodruff, all of Iva; two sisters, Ruby Greenway of Iva and Mildred Graham of Anderson; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 Wednesday in Iva City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson.
The family is at 101 Miriam St., Iva.

Jimmy Joe Bluford

MOUNTVILLE — Jimmy Joe Bluford, 63, of 35 White Plain Road, passed away Jan. 11, 2001, at his home.
He retired from Clinton Mills.
Survivors include seven brothers, Rufus L. Bluford of the home; Leroy Campbell, Johnny Campbell and David Campbell, all of Clinton, James Campbell of Greenville, Steven R. Campbell of Waterloo and Kenneth Campbell of Mountville; seven sisters, Catherine Martin of Charlotte, Rosa L. Long, Wanda Gary, Joann Williams and Amanda J. Campbell, all of Clinton, Ruby L. Price of Newberry and Geraldine Briggs of Columbia; and a niece reared in the home, Brenda L. Hall.
Services will be at 3 today at Saint Vaughnville Baptist Church.
Childs Funeral Home is in charge.

Alvin Butler

FOUNTAIN INN — Alvin Butler, 61, formerly of Augusta, husband of Shari Jones Butler, passed away Jan. 15, 2001.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Frances Butler Ellis. A graduate of the Academy of Richmond County, he was a former football player with the University of Georgia. He was a retired construction welder and a member of Hill Baptist Church in Augusta.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of Augusta; a son, Rhett Butler of Bogart, Ga.; a daughter, Amber Hurly of Acworth, Ga.; two brothers, Gerald B. Holsonback of Swainsboro, Ga., and John K. Holsonback of Aspen, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 Wednesday in Magnolia Cemetery, Augusta.

Judy Gambrell

DONALDS — Judy Ann Fields Gambrell, 52, of 254 Williamson Hill Road, wife of Ronnie Dean Gambrell, passed away Jan. 13, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Johnny C. Fields and Mary Jane Browning. She was a homemaker and a member of Crossroads Fellowship Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Ronnie Dale Vaughn of Donalds; a daughter, Crystal Marie Vaughn of Honea Path; four sisters, Clara Brazeal of Princeton, Linda Eskew and Rachael Alewine, both of Honea Path and Martha Timms of Belton; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Wednesday at Crossroads Fellowship Church, Highway 20, conducted by the Revs., Rickey Knight, James Welch and Shirley Surrett. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Pruitt Funeral Home, Honea Path.

GREENWOOD — Willie Gray, of 221-B Taggart Ave., passed away Jan. 15, 2001, at the home.
The family is at the home of his sister, Minnie Ruth Gray, 50 Edgewood Circle, Calhoun Falls.
Services will be announced by Richie Funeral Home, Abbeville, which is in charge.

Marzie Johnson

GREENWOOD — Marzie Johnson, 91, of 210 E. Cambridge Ave., widow of Benny Lee Johnson, passed away Jan. 15, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Katie Rowe Johnson. She was a retired employee of Greenwood Mills, Plant No. 5, and a member of First Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John (Delree) Hilley of Greenwood; a son, Earl Johnson of Ware Shoals; a sister, Ruth Gillion of Greenwood; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Paul Reid. Burial will be at 3 in Emory Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are John Hilley, Jamie Johnson, Howard Johnson, Anthony Eye, Vince Price and Eugene Johnson.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of her daughter, 214 Orchard Drive.

Darryl Keith London

ABBEVILLE — Darryl Keith London, 35, of 109 Virginia Drive, passed away Jan. 15, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of Claude and Mamie Hughey London. He was a former chef and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his mother of the home; his father of Abbeville; a son, J.B. Rollinson of Abbeville; a daughter, Shantae Calhoun of Abbeville; six brothers, Floyd London Claude London Jr., Ronald London and Robert London, all of Abbeville, Thomas London of Rex, Ga., and Richard London of Ellenwood, Ga.; and two sisters, Glenda Jones of Abbeville and Gloria L. Jackson of Greer.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Brown and Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Bob Mitchell

ANDERSON — Robert “Bob” Mitchell, 72, of 25 Prince St., husband of Vonnie Eaton Mitchell, passed away Jan. 14, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Antreville, he was a son of the late John Robert and Lula Morrison Mitchell. He was a Korean War Army veteran and a retired employee of Glenn-Raven Mills (formerly Equinox). He was a member of First Creek Baptist Church and attended John Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Bobbie Skelton of Simpsonville; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 today at McDougald Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Phillip Stout. Burial will be in Old Silverbrook Cemetery.
The family is at the home.

McCORMICK — Martha Crocker Morrah, of Highway 28, Long Cane Community, wife of David Morrah Sr., passed away Jan. 16, 2001, at Eisenhower Memorial Hospital in Augusta.

Mitchell Morse

NINETY SIX — Mitchell Morse, 75, of Route 1, Kindred Drive, husband of Hassie Adams Morse, passed away Jan. 14, 2001, at his home.
Born in Charlotte, N.C., he was a son of the late Alonzo and Reanna Stewart Morse. He was a retired employee of Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Faith Temple Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carolyn Moss and Donna Rodgers, both of Ninety Six; two sons, Ronnie Morse of Gladys, Va., and Terry Morse of Ninety Six; a half brother, Ansel Morse of Charlotte; two sisters, Elizabeth Beach and Betty Jo Morse, both of Greenwood; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Wednesday at Faith Temple Church, Saluda County, conduced by the Rev. Tim Brimm and the Rev. John Turner. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.
