Robert Benny Welton, 71, of 2440 Cokesbury Road, widower of Cora Brown Welton, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Hattie Rearden Welton and Charlie Welton. He was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church, a trustee, a member of the usher board, adult Sunday school, an audio technician of the church and former caretaker of the church cemetery. He attended public schools in Greenwood and was a retired truck driver for Metromont.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Kenneth Welton of Greenwood and Robert K. Welton of Germany; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Cynthia) Montgomery of Waterloo; two brothers, John P. Welton and James A. Welton of Greenwood; five sisters, Mattie Welton of Philadelphia, Gladys Speaks of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. George (Ella) Pugh of Emporia, Va., Mrs. Sam (Thomasina) Newell and Mary Prince, both of Greenwood; and five grandchildren.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

George Allen
LEXINGTON — George Thomas Allen, 59, died Monday, December 29, 2003. Born in Ware Shoals, SC he was the son of Francis Elizabeth Crowley.
He is survived by his wife, Cora Elizabeth Allen of Lexington; son, George Michael Allen and his wife Tambia of Leesville; brothers and sister-in-law, Don Lester Crowley and his wife Shelby and Robert Harry Crowley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Faye Moore and husband Roger, Jeanette Elizabeth Cooper and husband Chuck all of Ware Shoals; grandchildren, Clarity Belle Allen and Brittany Elizabeth Allen.
The familiy will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 02, 2004 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Homes, Lexington Chapel.

AIKEN — Mrs. Ethel Mai Davis, 83, wife of the late Henry Oscar Davis, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at Mattie C. Hall. Funeral Services will be held 2PM, Friday, January 2, 2004 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles Yoho officiating. Visitation will be held tonight from 6-8PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Rocky Springs Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughters, Marie Snipes, Ridge Spring, SC, Jeannette Slade, Windsor, SC, Dot Goodwin, Aiken, SC, son, Henry Davis, Greenwood, SC, one brother, three sisters, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

Lizzie Mae Goode
BRADLEY — Lizzie Mae Murray Goode, 78, of 419 Cedar Grove Road, wife of Douglas Goode Sr., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ella Mae Wideman Murray. She retired from Self Memorial Hospital and was a member of Mount Sinai A.M.E. Church, where she was a stewardess, a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and assistant teacher of Sunday School Class No. 4. She was also a member of Women’s Aide Society No. 77.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Douglas Goode Jr. of Greenwood and Thomas Goode of Knoxville, Tenn.; two daughters, Mrs. Rev. Richard (Kathy) Harkness of Moncks Corner and Murray Goode of the home; and six grandchildren.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai A.M.E. Church, conducted by Brother Derrick Stewart and the Rev. Willie Norman Jr., assisted by the Rev. Aaron Woodward and Elder G.T. Devlin.
Pallbearers are sons, son-in-law, grandsons and nephews.
Visitation is Friday evening at the home.

Services for Emma Jean Strong Grant, of 116 Peachtree St., Magnolia Place, are 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Otis Cunningham, assisted by the Revs. Tommy Stanford, Barbara Choice, John Gunter, Bernard White and Lonnie Jones. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Perry Clardy, Jimmie Duncan, Norris Miles, Chester Fisher, Gregory Richardson and Carl Wright.
Flower bearers are Bertha Brown, Effie Gantt, Queen Gaskin, Evelyn Freeman, Mamie Lee Elmore, Barbara Stanford, Corrie Turner and Brenda Miles.

Jackie Lance “Jack” Hasting, 48, of 114 Bonanza Drive, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of William Connie and Easter S. Hasting. He was employed by Wilson Brothers Sand Co. and was of the Holiness faith, attending church at the Faith Home.
Survivors include his parents of Ninety Six; two sons, Kevin Russell Goldman of Coronaca and Alex Mohr of Greenwood; a sister, Phyllis Turner of Ninety Six; two brothers, Larry Hasting of Ninety Six and Wayne Hasting of Brevard, N.C.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. David Evans and Bobby Davis. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Rusty Turner, Adam Hasting, Benny Cockrell, Russell Balchin, Billy Hasting and Cody Cockrell.
Honorary escorts are the employees of Wilson Brothers Sand Co. and residents of the Faith Home.
Visitation is 1-2 Friday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of his parents, 109 Gervais St., Ninety Six.

Robert N. Hicks Jr.
DONALDS — Robert Napoleon Hicks Jr., 55, of 105 Dixie Drive, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of Sallie Mae Dodson Hicks and the late Robert N. Hicks Sr. He was a member of Old Forksville Baptist Church and an Army veteran. He retired from Michelin Corp.
Survivors include his mother of Donalds; two brothers, Jerry Smith of Fayetteville, N.C., and James A. Hicks of Chicago; three sisters, Gloria Cunningham of Ware Shoals, Jacqueline Hicks-Jones of Greenwood and Janice Jackson of Chicago.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Dunn Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Johnny L. Henderson. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Viewing begins at 2 p.m. today at Robinson-Walker Funeral Service. No wake is planned.
Visitation is at the home of his mother, Sallie Mae Hicks, 116 Lower Shady Grove Road.

Sloan McGrier Jr.
Sloan McGrier Jr., 84, formerly of 118 Russell St., widower of Sophia Lee Hailey McGrier, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Sloan McGrier Sr. and Agie Hill. He was a former member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church and a former supervisor with Greenwood Packing Plant.
Survivors include two sons, Sloan McGrier III of Hodges and Donald McGrier of Greenwood; four daughters, Audry Kinard of the home, Betty Abraham of New Haven, Conn., Carolyn Robinson of Columbia and Vickie Mosley of Greenwood; a brother, Lawrence McGrier of Wilmington, Del.; a sister, Mary Rodgers of Chester, Penn.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

Mr. Thomas Pressley Robinson
CLOVER, SC - Mr. Thomas Pressley Robinson, 84, of 1981 St. Paul Church Road, died December 30, 2003 at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill. He was born September 21, 1919 in York County, SC, a son of the late James Templeton Robinson and Mary Lena Boyd Robinson.
Mr. Robinson was the widower of Nancy Alice Brown Robinson and a World War II Army Air Corp Veteran. He retired from the S.C. Regional Housing Authority and was a lifelong farmer.
Survivors are: daughters and sons-in-law, Alice R. and Donald L. Dover, Rock Hill, SC; Rebecca R. and Samuel R. Jackson, Clover, SC; sons and daughters-in-law, T. Marion and Gail R. Robinson, Laurens, SC; Donald W. and Sandra M. Robinson, Greenwood, SC; sister, Helen R. Featherston, Macon, MS; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2004 at First United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. PaulHutchison and Rev. Irvin Plowden, Jr. Interment will be in St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Thursday night at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home. Mr. John Robert (JR) Schuck
McCORMICK, S.C. — Mr. John Robert “JR” Schuck, 65, passed away, Satur-day, Decem-ber 27 after fighting a brave battle with Kidney cancer.
Born in Kansas City, Kansas, September 27, 1938, Mr. Schuck lived in South Central Florida, Atlanta, Georgia, and Horseshoe Bend Country Club, Roswell, Georgia before relocating to Savannah Lakes Village in 1994. He retired in 2000 after 40 years as Marine Specialist for Cooks Composites & Polymers.
An avid sportsman, he loved hunting and fishing, as well as golfing, and had accomplished five holes in one. He was a member of the SLV Men's Golf Association and Emerald Seniors. His wonderful but somewhat irreverent sense of humor was enjoyed by all who knew him.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m, Saturday, January 3, 2004 from the Lutheran Church By The Lake, McCormick S.C.
Survivors: his wife of 32 years Patti Schuck, sons Scott Schuck and David Neverton; daughters and sons in law Donna and John Gilbert, Pamela and William Polk, Karen Schuck, Jennifer and Mark Thorn, and Amy Williams; brothers Gene Schuck, William (Butch) Schuck and Max Schuck; a sister, Patty Burgess, mother Leola Schuck, and nine grandchildren.
Mr. Schuck was preceded in death by his father Herman Schuck.

Mrs. Nina B. Vickery Smith
October 18, 1923 - December 30, 2003
ANDERSON, SC — Mrs. Nina B. Vickery Smith, age 80 of 642 Wood-vale Road, Anderson, SC, died Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at the Anderson Area Medical Center in Anderson.
Born in Hart County GA on October 18, 1923, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late James Edward Vickery and Lillie Lee Goldsmith Vickery. She was retired from Monsanto in Greenwood, SC with over 20 years of service. She was a member of the Tolly Street Senior Citizens Club and was an avid gardener who loved all types of flowers. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Ann Smith Cade Kelley of Anderson; brother Bennie Vickery of Georgia; sister, Mattie V. Edwards of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren, Christopher Ian Cade and his wife, Tamatha of Abbeville, Melonie Dawn Shaw of Anderson, Charles Keith "Chuck" Kelley of Anderson; step-grandson, Michael Paul Kelley; great-granddaughter, Savannah Alyse Cade of Abbeville and step-great-granddaughter, Brianna Gail Kelley of Williamston.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverend Sam Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.
The body is at The McDougald Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 2, 2004.
The family will be at the home of her daughter, 643 Woodvale Road, Anderson, SC.

NINETY SIX — Margie Davis Bratcher, 79, of 146 Pinehaven Drive, widow of Thomas Vernon Bratcher, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at the Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Ninety Six, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Rosa Land Davis. She retired from Monsanto after 20 years and was a volunteer with HospiceCare of the Piedmont for 12 years. She was a member of Callie Self Chapter, O.E.S., Temple Baptist Church and the T.E.L. Sunday School class.
Survivors include a son, Keith Davis Bratcher of McCormick; and a sister, Mattie Gilmer of Calhoun Falls.
Services are at 3 Saturday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Charles Owens and Stephen Crittendon. Entombment is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers are Rock Goldman, Mike Goldman, Kevin Crittendon, Homer Banks, James McCall and George Finkenstadt.
Honorary escorts are the staff and volunteers of HospiceCare of the Piedmont.
Visitation is from 2-3 Saturday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of a niece, Paula Crittendon, 128 Aiton Drive, Ninety Six.

Harriet W. Christopher
Harriet Wilson Christopher, 59, of 128 Heather Lane, wife of Rick Christopher, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003.
Born in Ninety Six, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Ruth Kinard Wilson. She was an Administrative Assistant at Piedmont Technical College, a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church and attended Augusta Highway Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are three sons Scott and Jeff Christopher, both of Greenwood and Brad Christopher of Texas ; a sister Marilyn Braxton of Ninety Six; two grandchildren McKenzie Grace Christopher and Haley Alexis Christopher.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Craig Hughes and Rev. Ray Massey officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeff, Scott, and Brian Christopher; Jimmy Dodgen, Clint Wood, and Shane Jones.
Honorary escorts will be Neil Floyd and James Jones.
The body is at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.
