Elinore Ann Martz

Aberdeen -- The funeral for Elinore Ann Martz, 77, of Aberdeen and formerly of Ashley, N.D., will be at 11 a.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley. The Rev. Jeff Giles will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with the Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service today at the church.

She died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at her home.

Elinore Ann Buchholz was born July 11, 1922, to Theodore M. and Paulina (Hochstetter) Buchholz at Ashley. She grew up and attended school in Ashley, graduating from Ashley High School in 1940. She worked at the McIntosh County Courthouse in the Selective Service Office from 1940 to 1945.

She married Oscar Martz on March 7, 1943, at Thief River Falls, Minn. They continued to make their home in Ashley until moving to Danzig, N.D., in 1951. In 1960 they moved back to Ashley. From 1963 to 1982 she worked at The Ashley Tribune as a teletypist and proofreader. He died March 11, 1994. In October 1994 she moved to Aberdeen to be near her daughter.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a past member of the Sunshine Homemaker's Club.

She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.

Survivors include two sons, James Martz and Jeffrey (Liz) Martz, both of Denver; two daughters, Linda Martz of San Francisco, and Nancy Ann Palmer of Aberdeen; two sisters, Esther Tunell of Salt Lake City, and Lillian Thurn of Ashley; two brothers, Dennis Buchholz of Lisbon, N.D., and Gerald Buchholz of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter in infancy and one brother.

Casketbearers will be Robert Martz, Max Wishek Jr., Robert Wishek, Edwin Ulrich and Lowell "Bud" Overbo, all of Ashley; and Greg Merkel of Eureka.

The family prefers memorials to the Ashley Medical Center, 612 Center Ave. N., Ashley, N.D. 58413.

Gregory B. Hamilton

Lee's Summit, Mo. -- Gregory B. Hamilton, 48, of Lee's Summit and formerly of Aberdeen, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. He had a liver transplant in 1997 and was in need of a second transplant.

His funeral was May 26 at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit.

Gregory B. Hamilton was born Nov. 23, 1951, to Maurice and Elaine (Bishop) Hamilton in Aberdeen. When he was young, the family moved to Kansas City, Mo. He was educated there and then was employed by AT&T; Technologies for 16 years. He then pursued a career as a police officer for the city of Lee's Summit until his death.

Survivors include his wife, Susan, of Lee's Summit; one stepson, Jonathon Patrick of Tempe, Ariz.; his mother of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Neil Hamilton of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Cheryl Wright of Kansas City, Mo., and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Memorials may be sent to KU Endowment Association for Liver Transplant Research, 3901 Rainbow Blvd., Kansas City, Kan., 66160-7804.

Chris J. Maas

Hoven -- The funeral for Chris J. Maas, 95, of Hoven will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gettysburg. The Rev. Kevin Moore will officiate.

Burial will be in the Pembroke cemetery near Hoven with Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg in charge of arrangements.

There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Gettysburg.

He died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.

Chris John Maas was born Sept. 20, 1904, to Fred and Mary (Graf) Maas, on the family farm in Arena Township, Potter County, near Hoven. He grew up on the family farm and received his education in Arena Township. He had lived and worked on the farm all of his life. Along with his farming, he was the family mechanic.

Survivors include one sister, Alice Jost of Hoven; and one brother, Melvin Maas of Hoven.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

Casketbearers will be Ronnie Jost, Donald Harer, Darrell Harer, Monte Harer, Robert Theunissen and Paul Zuber.

Cheryl Hoffman

Redfield -- The funeral for Cheryl Hoffman, 42, of Redfield will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Messiah Lutheran Church, Redfield. The Rev. Peter M. Utecht will officiate.

Her body will be cremated after the services and her ashes will be buried in the Rockham cemetery at a later date. Thelen Funeral Home of Redfield is in charge of arrangements.

A prayer service will be at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She died of cancer Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Avera St. LukeÕs Hospital in Aberdeen.

Cheryl Ehrich was born May 27, 1958, to Jack and June (Bush) Ehrich in Redfield. She attended Redfield Public School and graduated from Redfield High School in 1976. She attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. She worked at Fisher Grove Country Club, Spink County Sheriff's Office, Spink County Health Department and Northeast South Dakota Community Action Program.

She married Bruce Hoffman on Nov. 24, 1979. They farmed in the Rockham area. She worked at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. In June 1999, she started CC Jobs-Web design and computer consulting.

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Redfield and was a 4-H club leader.

Survivors include two sons, Travis Hoffman and Tyler Hoffman, both of Redfield; two daughters, Kayla Hoffman and Lacie Hoffman, both of Redfield; her parents of Redfield; one brother, Terry Ehrich of Rockham; and two sisters, Vicky Sieh of Leola, and Kristine Ehrich of Austin, Texas.

Casketbearers will be Daryl Ehrich, Merlyn Levtzow, Steve Nuhsbaumer, George Schade, Dan Schaffer and Tim Bush.

The family requests memorials to the Redfield High School-Cheryl Hoffman Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 560, Redfield, S.D. 57469 or Messiah Lutheran Church-Stained Glass Window Fund, 225 E. First, Redfield, S.D. 57469.

Vivian B. Anderson

Mobridge -- Mass of Christian burial for Vivian B. Anderson, 88, of Mobridge will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mobridge. The Rev. Charles Mangan will officiate.

Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery at Mobridge. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.

A scriptural wake service will be at 6:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Visitation will be from noon until the conclusion of the wake service today at the funeral home.

She died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at her home in Mobridge.

Vivian B. Cadotte was born on April 8, 1912, to Benjamin and Daisy Mae (Devere) Cadotte in Mobridge. She grew up in Wakpala and attended school at Flandreau Indian School and graduated from Mobridge High School.

She married Eddie Swanton on Jan. 20, 1932, in Mobridge. He died in 1955. She worked at Lowe Hospital in Mobridge as a nurses' aide.

She married Harold Anderson on March 4, 1959, in Minneapolis. They lived in Mobridge except when he was in the Air Force.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Joseph's Altar Society, Women of the Moose and the Ronald McDonald House. She was one-half Lakota Sioux and a registered member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

Survivors include her husband of Mobridge; one son, Michael (Susan) Swanton of North Platte, Neb.; two brothers, Clarence Cadotte of Mobridge and Gilbert Cadotte of Flandreau; two sisters, Lyma L. Ries of Los Angeles and Corinne Giegle of McLaughlin; one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, her first husband and one grandson.

Emery James 'Jim' Crandall

Hecla -- Emery James "Jim" Crandall, 73, of Hecla died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at the Oakes (N.D.) Community Hospital.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Oakes Good Samaritan Center. The Rev. Deb Geelsdottir will officiate.

Burial will be in the Hecla cemetery. Dahlstrom Funeral Home of Oakes is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 today at the funeral home.

Emery James Crandall was born July 9, 1927, to Oliver J. and Dorothy (Dorse) Crandall in Gardena, Calif. He grew up and attended school there. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served until he was discharged in 1946.

He married Beverly Askins, and they made their home in California, where he was a member of the Operating Engineers Union since 1952. He retired in 1983 but continued as a retired member. He moved to Hecla in July 1988 to be near his daughter. In 1994, he became a resident of the Oakes Good Samaritan Center and lived there until the time of his death. She died Aug. 12, 1998.

He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union.

Survivors include one son, Dennis J. (Michele) Crandall of Henderson, Nev.; one daughter, Susan (Delbert) Schwarting of Hecla; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, one grandchild and his parents.

Neil Allen Johnson

San Diego -- Neil Johnson, 72, of San Diego and formerly of Britton and Aberdeen, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego.

Memorial services and burial were at Fort Rosecrans National cemetery in San Diego. Bayview Cremation and Burial Services of San Diego was in charge of arrangements.

Neil Allen Johnson was born May 7, 1928, to Harold and Susanne (Phlanzer) Johnson in Britton. He grew up in Rutland, N.D. He graduated from Oakes (N.D.) High School. He attended business college in Minneapolis and then served in the U.S. Army in Korea.

He married Portia Bradner. He managed retail food businesses in Rutland, Hecla, Frederick and Aberdeen, retiring from Tonner's Meats of Aberdeen in 1990. He spent the last 10 years of his life in San Diego.

Survivors include his wife of San Diego; one daughter, Cherie (Steve) Breidenbach of San Diego; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

LeeDelo Lee

Aberdeen -- Mass of Christian burial for Delo Lee, 83, of 1313 N. Main St. will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 215 N. Arch St. The Rev. Doug Binsfeld will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., is in charge of arrangements.

A liturgical wake service will be at 7 tonight at the mortuary.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

He died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, Mich., en route to his son's home in Caseville, Mich.

Delo Lee was born Oct. 17, 1916, to Peter and Josephine (Haugen) Lee at Colgan, N.D. He moved with his family at a young age to Fingal, N.D., where he was raised and attended Fingal public schools. He attended the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks.

He married Barbara E. Sauer on Aug. 23, 1940, in Billings, Mont. They made Aberdeen their home. He was the chief engineer at the K.O. Lee Company for more than 30 years before retiring. She died in January 2000.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Aberdeen Elks Club and the Yelduz Shrine Temple.

He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting, playing tennis and golf and was an avid bowler and fisherman.

Survivors include two sons, Delo (Jill) Lee Jr. of Omaha, Neb., and Robert M. (Candace) Lee of Caseville; one daughter, Marjorie (Larry) Buechler of Edina, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one daughter and his wife.

Casketbearers will be Fred Eisele, Ron Fisher, Delo Scott Lee, Kevin Lee, Todd Buechler, Darren Buechler and Collin Buechler.

Theodore 'Ted' Liab

Hosmer -- The funeral for Theodore "Ted" Liab, 85, of Hosmer will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Hein Funeral Home in Ipswich. The Rev. Beth-Ann Sehring will officiate.

Burial will be in the city cemetery.

Visitation will be until the time of the service today at the funeral home.

He died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at his home in Hosmer.

Theodore Liab was born Dec. 10, 1914, to Jacob and Marie (Hoffman) Liab near Java in Walworth County. He attended rural school.

He married Emma Hauck on July 30, 1933, in Roscoe. They farmed south of there for several years. They later moved to Montana and lived there in the '40s. They moved to Mobridge and in 1968 moved to Ipswich. She died in 1982. He moved to Hosmer several years later and lived there until his death.

Survivors include two sisters, Anna Beck of Meridan, Idaho, and Ruth Walker of Rapid City; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, one daughter, one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.

Casketbearers will be Elmer Fauth, Frank Gisi, Adam Heilman and Gary Weishaar, all of Hosmer; Vernon Rohrbach and Herbert Wockenfuss, both of Ipswich.
