Carl Brown
Funeral services for Mr. Carl Brown, 87, of the Baptist Ridge Community of Overton County, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2000, from the chapel of the Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home of Cookeville with Bro. Chris Coil officiating. Burial was in the Crest Lawn Memorial cemetery with Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr.Brown, a retired farmer and machine operator, died December 1, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born November 6, 1913, in Overton County, he was the son of the late William Henry and Florence (Rich) Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Schraumm Brown.

Survivors include a daughter, Jennie Louise May, Fairfield Glade; three sisters, Rose Smith, Hilham, Marian Fannon, Ohio, and Josie Carmack, Indiana; four brothers, Ather Brown, Sparta, Edward Brown, Nashville, Cecil Brown, Monterey, and Oscar Brown, Cookeville; three grandchildren, Gregory May, Jeff May and Annette May Franco; and two great grandchildren, Lauren Franco and Heather May.

Terry D. Ayers
Funeral services for Mr. Terry D. Ayers, 39, of Strawberry Plains, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2000, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro with Bro. Phillip Morgan and Bro. Clayton Lee officiating. Burial was in the New Hope cemetery in the New Hope Community of Jackson County with Anderson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Ayers, a self-employed heavy equipment operator, died Friday, September 22, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City.

Born December 17, 1960, in Jackson County, he was the son of Elmer and Jean Evins Ayers of Hilham. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mitchell and Bessie Ayers, and maternal grandparents, Lee and Martha Evins.

He served in the Army National Guard for six years and was affiliated with the New Hope Community Church.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Debbie Ayers, Strawberry Plains; a son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Andrea Ayers, Strawberry Plains; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Sharon Ayers and Mike and Tina Ayers, all of Hilham; two nephews, Chris Ayers and Brandon Ayers; three nieces, Penny Cummins, Mandy Ayers, and Casey York; a great nephew, Mitchell Ayers; and a great niece, Emma Grace Ayers.

Grover Barlow
Funeral services for Mr. Grover Barlow, 61, of Gainesboro, were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2001, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro with Rev. Shannon Hammock officiating. Burial was in the Stacey cemetery in the Old Antioch Community of Jackson County with Anderson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Barlow died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the Freewill Holiness Church and a resident of the Old Antioch Community of Jackson County.

Born July 4, 1939, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Alfred and Verdie (Brown) Barlow. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Barlow.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma (Hammock) Barlow, Gainesboro; a son, Steve Barlow, Gainesboro; a daughter, Amanda Hall, Paintsville, KY; three brothers, Ray Barlow and Carl Barlow, both of Livingston, and Roy Barlow, Coldspring, TX; a sister, Sally Mae (Barlow) Bull, Ft. Pierce, FL; and four grandchildren, Andy Hall, Casey Hall, Sydney Hall, and Shelly Hall.

Tonya Telisa Kelly
Funeral services for Miss Tonya Telisa Kelly, 19, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. James Haynes and Pastor Erik Creneans officiating. Burial was in the Double Springs cemetery in Putnam County with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Miss Kelly died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a student at Volunteer State Community College and a member of Colonial Hills Ministry in Cookeville.

Born January 6, 1982, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Steve Kelly of Cookeville and Sandra (Sapp) Wilmoth of Livingston.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her step-mother, Nancy Kelly, Cookeville; her step-father, Mark Wilmoth, Livingston; four sisters, Jessica Racquel Kelly, Mariah Wilmoth, and Jackie Wilmoth, all of Livingston, and Amber Smith, Cookeville; grandparents, Nellie Cowan and Kenneth Kelly, both of Cookeville, and Gene Sapp and Lou Patterson, both of Florida; and several aunts, uncles, and other relatives.

Kellie Buck
Funeral services for Mr. Kellie Buck, 63, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2001, from the chapel of Byrdstown Memorial Funeral Home. Burial was in the Tompkins cemetery with Byrdstown Memorial Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Buck died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

Born July 17, 1937, in Fentress County, he was the son of the late Dennis Oak and Zona (Cravens) Buck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Buck.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Sammy Buck, Livingston, and Tammy and Terry King, Byrdstown; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Buck, Byrdstown; two brothers, Kirby Buck and Shellie Buck, both of Byrdstown; three sisters, Nellie Smith and Janie Hughes, both of Rickman, and Mary Pritchard, Indiana; seven grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Cora (Beasley) Wisner
Graveside services for Mrs. Cora (Beasley) Wisner, 113, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2001, with Rev. Glen Winningham officiating. Burial was in the Monroe cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Wisner died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at the Overton County Nursing Home. She was a housewife and a member of the Monroe Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school for many years.

Born January 10, 1888, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late George Stanton and Elizabeth Frances (Reed) Beasley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Henry Wisner; two daughters, Naomi W. Coleman and Heston W. Bowers; and a son, William "Jack" Wisner.

Survivors include a daughter, Jewel Williams, Eastpointe, MI; a half-brother, Harlan Beasley, Livingston; 11 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 30 great-great grandchildren.

Ralph Tayes
Funeral services for Mr. Ralph Tayes, 65, of Monterey, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2001, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Tony Barnett officiating. Burial was in the Sand Springs Memorial Gardens with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Tayes died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. He was a supervisor at Elm Meats in Nashville for over 35 years and retired from Nashville Shores as the maintenance supervisor, and he attended the Monterey 1st Freewill Baptist Church.

Born February 29, 1936, in Monterey, he was the son of the late Calvin and Nola (Sparks) Tayes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Tayes.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Calvin and Karen Tayes, Panama City, FL; two sisters, Barbara Tayes, Monterey, and Linda Bowman, Hanging Limb; two brothers, Horace Tayes, and Ronnie Tayes, both of Monterey; and a grandchild, Trent Tayes.

Mary Lillian (Lee) Swallows
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lillian (Lee) Swallows, 77, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Halliburton officiating. Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Swallows died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at her home. She was a housewife and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Born July 23, 1923, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late George and Daisy (Hoover) Lee.

Survivors include her husband, Willie D. Swallows, Livingston; two daughters, Elaine Grimes, Hilham, and Virginia Moore, Memphis; a sister, Lorene Dubree, Livingston; and four grandchildren, Kelly Grimes, Livingston, Melissa Smith, Cookeville, and Amy Moore and Patrick Moore, both of Memphis.

Pallbearers were Teddy Dubree, Jack Dubree, Pat Grimes, Patrick Moore, Don Moore, and Jimmy Lee.

Ruby U. Moore
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby U. Moore, 75, of Crossville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch and Rev. Johnny Goldston officiating. Burial was in the Clay Springs cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Moore died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and affiliated with the Emmannuel Baptist Church in Crossville.

Born January 18, 1926, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Emery Taylor and Ophie Cargile Mullins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nobel Peek; four brothers, Johnny Paul Mullins, Cecil Mullins, Hoy Mullins, and Donald Mullins; and a sister, Ivalene (Mullins) Koger.

Survivors include her husband, John Henry Moore, Crossville; two sons, Jimmie Ray Peek, Rickman, and Larry Nobel Peek, Livingston; a daughter, Judy Fay Robbins, Lebanon; three brothers, Odell Mullins and Alvin Mullins, both of Livingston, and Daniel Mullins, New Castle, IN; six grandchildren, Travis Peek and Thresa Ann Shoemake, both of Rickman, Brian Robbins and Jason Robbins, both of Lebanon, and Chad Peek and Brad Peek, both of Livingston; and three great grandchildren, Cody Robbins and Hayden Robbins, both of Lebanon, and Matthew Peek, Rickman.

Martha Rebecca (Stockton) Beaty
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Rebecca "Becky" (Stockton) Beaty, 47, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2001, from the Full Gospel Church in Byrdstown with Bro. Howard Moon and Bro. Johnny Rexroat officiating. Burial was in the Beaty cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Beaty died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at the Fentress County General Hospital in Jamestown. She was a factory worker and a member of the Moodyville Union Baptist Church.

Born February 12, 1954, in Clinton County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Joe B. and Leva (Norris) Stockton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Freddie Sherman Stockton and Troy Howard Stockton.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Beaty, Byrdstown; a son, Josh Beaty, Byrdstown; two step-sons, Kendall Beaty and Chris Beaty, both of Byrdstown; three sisters, Jeanette Marlow, New Castle, IN, Phyllis Pryor, Byrdstown, and Linda Buttler, Kokomo, IN; four brothers, Howard Stockton, Joe W. Stockton, and Ricky Stockton, all of Albany, KY, and Kenieth Stockton, Indiana; two step-grandchildren, Matthew Beaty and Gaberal Beaty; one aunt, Geneva Bertram; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends. Pallbearers were Kendall Beaty, Chris Beaty, Maxie Beaty, Scotty Stockton, Kendle Davidson, and Eric Davidson.

Ona Rae (Masters) Christenson
Funeral services for Mrs. Ona Rae (Masters) Christenson, 87, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. David Adams officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Christenson died Sunday, Oct. 6 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a retired auto factory employee and a member of Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church.

Born January 3, 1915, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Ransey and Maggie (Ray) Masters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Christenson; a sister, Brenda Spivey; and three brothers, Paul Masters, Howard Masters, and Dee Masters.

Survivors include a step-son, Jack Christenson, Cape Coral, FL; three sisters, Nell Deck, Livingston, Ruth Burgess, Akron, OH, and Eileen Bechtold, North Manchester, IN; a brother, Bobby Masters, Jamestown; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Pallbearers were Jack Christenson, Carl Masters, Homer Reagan, Roy Dillon, and Bradley Fulghum.

Elizabeth "Betty" Coleman
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty' Coleman, 80, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, from Livingston First Christian Church with Rev. Robert Ziehmer, Rev. Dee Ledford, and Dr. David Moore officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Coleman died Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a registered nurse, a member of Livingston First Christian Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Born October 26, 1921, in Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Thomas C. and Margaret Elizabeth (Wehrle) Keefe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Rose.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Coleman, Livingston; a son, Ken Stephens, Crossville; two step-sons, Johnny Fred Coleman and Jim Coleman, both of Livingston; two daughters, Barbara Buckner and Sue Winningham, both of Tullahoma; a step-daughter, Betty Ledbetter, Livingston; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Walter Fowski, Easton, CT; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 4 special friends, Jane Gaw, Lucille Hyder, Wanda Stephens, and Delores Turnbull.

Pallbearers were Andy Winningham, Stephen Winningham, Matthew Winningham, Sean Stephens, Tyler Buckner, Paul Buckner, Jay Coleman, and Kelly Coleman.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were John Turnbull, Ronnie Hyder, Michael Stephens, Fred Amonett, Billy Gene Gaw, Perry Windle, and Larry Misenhimer.

Cindy L. Hogue
Funeral services for Mrs. Cindy L. Hogue, 44, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Terry McCloud officiating. Burial was in Miller cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Hogue died Thursday, Oct. 17 at Masters Health Care Center in Algood. She was a home health nurse and attended Allons Assembly of God.

Born September 13, 1958, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Pascal and Edna Rosaline (Burchett) Staggs. Survivors include her husband, Daniel Hogue, Hilham; a daughter, Shannon Thompson, Pontiac, MI; four brothers, Rick Staggs, David Staggs, and Mike Staggs, all of Livingston, and Donnie Williams, North Carolina; three sisters, Brenda Stewart and Patsy Dailey, both of Livingston, and Diane Neal, Rickman; and a granddaughter, Ashley Bilbrey, Michigan.

Pallbearers were Kevin Hunter, Steve Smith, Brian Dailey, Jeff Auberson, David Cantrell, and Jerry Beaty.

Sue Nell Oakley
Funeral services for Mrs. Sue Nell Oakley, 68, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, from the Algood chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Blankenship officiating. Burial was in Algood cemetery with the Algood chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Oakley died Thursday, Oct. 17 at her home. She was a care giver with home health care and a member of Algood Church of Christ.

Born September 7, 1934, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late James Mayford and Maude (Lack) Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Otis Oakley Sr.; three sisters, Mattie Speck, Sybil Brown, and Ola Mae Haney; and four brothers, Jasper Webb, Haskell Webb, Leslie Webb, and James Webb.

Survivors include three sons, James Otis Oakley Jr., Livingston, Thomas Michael Oakley, Algood, and Eric Bradley Oakley, Gainesboro; two sisters, Alma Talley, Rickman, and Magdalene Harris, Indiana; a brother, Eddie Webb, Cookeville; and four grandchildren, Kirt Bradley Oakley, Reese Oakley, James Mayford Loftis, and Clint Loftis. Friends of Mrs. Oakley served as pallbearers.
