MILDRED MELTON
Funeral service for Mrs. Mildred Melton, 66, of Moss, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Bill Coe officiating.

Mrs. Melton died Saturday, Nov. 30 at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Born March 1, 1936, in Livingston, she was the daughter of the late Alet and Josie (Ward) Poston.

Survivors include her husband, W.T. "Bil" Melton of Moss; three sons, Gary Melton of Little Rock, AR, Ken Melton of McMinnville, and Jimmy Melton of Murfreesboro; a daughter, Terri Jo Melton of Burkesville, KY; a brother, Ward Poston of Livingston; two sisters, Gladys Poston of Livingston and Reva White of Hermitage; and four grandchildren, Julie Melton, Jennifer Melton, Kendell Melton, and Nikki Melton.

THERESA MARIE "TERRY" MOLES
Funeral services for Mrs. Theresa Marie "Terry" Moles, 80, of Rickman, were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Cookeville. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Father Tom Perin officiating. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Moles died Tuesday, Nov. 26 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She worked in the restaurant business and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Born September 12, 1922, in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Albert and Albertine (Porier) O'Conner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Moles; four brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, David and Alice Moles, Rick and Veneshia Moles, and Jeff and Melanie Moles, all of Rickman, and Gary and Brenda Moles of Temecula, FL; four brothers, Andy O'Conner, Richard O'Conner, and Pete O'Conner, all of Sarasota, FL, and Donald O'Conner of Waterbury, CT; a sister, Cecile Dery of Deming, NM; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kenny Moles, Danny Moles, Ron Moles, Mark Sherfield, Anthony Wright, and Ronnie Miranda. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital through First National Bank or Speck Funeral Home.

EDNA C. MYERS
Edna C. Myers, 75, of Bluffton, IN, died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Meadowvale Care Center. Mrs. Myers was retired from a career at General Electric Company. She was a member of First Church of Christ in Markle, IN, and American Legion Post 160 Auxiliary at Roanoke, IN.

She was born in Allons on August 30, 1927, to Calvin and Norma (Melton) Vaughn. Her marriage in Fort Smith, AR, on July 23, 1943, was to Eddie H. Myers, who survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Glen (Mary) Hendricks of Ossian, IN; a son, Dave Myers of Mishawaka, IN; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Ray of Allons, Mrs. Lucille Dulworth of Bluffton, and Mrs. Olen Dick of New Castle, IN; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Goodwin Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gerald Moreland officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn cemetery in Ossian. Calling hours at the memorial chapel were Thursday, Oct. 24 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Markle Church of Christ. Pd.

JOSEPH W. POSTON
Funeral service for Mr. Joseph W. Poston, 54, of Sevierville, and formerly of Livingston, were conducted at noon, Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, from the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville. Burial was in Bethel cemetery in Sevierville with Rev. Kenneth Stansberry officiating.

Mr. Poston died Thursday, Nov. 28 at Ft. Saunders Hospital in Sevierville. He was employed with Richardson Turner Construction Company and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Born May 31, 1948, in Overton County, he was the son of Cleo (Winningham) Poston of Livingston and the late Wilbur Poston.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Barbara (Thompson) Poston of Sevierville; a son and daughter-in-law, Derrick and Wendie Poston of Knoxville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Valerie and Brad Loveday, Rebecca Poston, and Katie Jo Poston, all of Sevierville; two sisters, June Robbins of Livingston and Brenda Williams of Byrdstown; and one grandchild. Obituary information was provided by Speck Funeral Home.

LUTHER WASHINGTON STAMPS
Funeral services for Mr. Luther Washington Stamps, 63, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bobby Roberts officiating.

Mr. Stamps died Sunday, Nov. 24 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a masonry helper and of the Baptist faith. Born March 14, 1939, in Overton County, he was the son of the late James Wilker and Alpha (Brown) Stamps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Veachel Stamps; and a grandson, Jonathan Dixon.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Stamps of Livingston; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ricky and Jean Stamps and Randell Stamps, all of Livingston; five daughters, Betty Faye Massingille of Allons, and Kimmie Bilbrey, Tina Dixon, Rita Daniels, and Rachael Stamps, all of Livingston; a brother, James Stamps of Carthage; two sisters, Wanda Walker of Livingston and Louise Allen of Kentucky; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Michael Hammock, Jammy Carr, Wayne Peek, Tommy Daniels, Phillip Murphy, Bryan Murphy, and Troy Daniels. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Mark Walker, Jeff Walker, and Greg Walker.

Mary Alice Melton
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Alice Melton, 94, of Monroe, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in Hatcher Hall cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Melton died Thursday, Jan. 10 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of Free Communion Church of Christ.

Born August 25, 1907, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Ferd and Eddie Lee (Clark) Mullins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Hall Jolley and Glen Melton; two daughters, Gail Beaty and Linda Sue Melton; a grandson, Darrell Armstrong; and three sons-in-law, Colis Huddleston, Danny Ledbetter, and Joe Garrett.

Survivors include six sons, Dolphus Jolley, Rex Melton, Kendrick Melton, and Roy Hugh Melton, all of Monroe, Joe Melton, Hartford City, IN, and Gary Jolley, Livingston; five daughters, Juanita Roberts, Nashville, Jean Norrod and Shirley Garrett, both of Monroe, and Ruth Waddey and Barbara Lee, both of Livingston; 35 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were her sons.

Wanda McCormick
Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda McCormick, 63, of Monterey, were conducted Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Bob Keich and Rev. Tex Boles officiating. Burial was in Mayland cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. McCormick died Friday, Jan. 11 at Cumberland County Medical Center in Crossville. She had formerly owned and operated several restaurants in the Monterey area and had worked in local factories. She was also a homemaker and attended Monterey Second Freewill Baptist Church.

Born January 24, 1938, in Mayland, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Evelyn (Phillips) Henry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Carl Henry.

Survivors include her husband, Buster McCormick, Monterey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Myra and Terry Bowman, Monterey, and Tracie and Mike Engle, Cookeville; four sisters, Joyce Henry and Debbie Henry, both of Nashville, Phyllis Grimsley, Cookeville, and Sybil Stewart, Algood; and four grandchildren, Dustin, Amber, Mason, and Landon.

Robert Darrell Maynord
Funeral services for Mr. Robert Darrell Maynord, 47, of Smyrna, were conducted at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, from the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with Perry Clayton officiating. Burial was in Dugan Smith cemetery with Woodlawn Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Maynord died Thursday, Jan. 10 at Smyrna Medical Center.

Born December 30, 1954, he was the son of Robert and Ruby Maynord of Allons.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, June (Young) Maynord, Smyrna; three daughters, Danielle Maynord, Andrea Maynord, and Ashley Maynord, Smyrna; a stepson, Joey Huddleston, Smyrna; four brothers, Ronnie Maynord and Mike Maynord, both of Allons, Rick Maynord, Livingston, and Eric Maynord, Gainesboro; a sister, Lynn (Maynord) Jolley, Monroe; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Estel and Ala Young, Monroe. Pallbearers were James Vandusin, Don Ellis, Paul Gardner, Terry Chapman, Robert Jolley, Pat Anderton, Cal Whitaker, and Ron Pertee.

Dollie Mae (Kyle) Johnson
Funeral services for Mrs. Dollie Mae (Kyle) Johnson, 85, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Poplar Springs cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, Jan. 5 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Born November 16, 1916, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Mack and Lou (Brewington) Kyle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Johnson; a son, James Golden; and sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Earnest Gene and Sarah Johnson, Livingston; a sister, Nellie V. Reeder, Cookeville; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Dallas Allen, Jacob Norrod, Bob Kirby, Herman Moody, Johnny Frank Reeder, and Herman Bean.

William Oliver Harpe
Mr. William Oliver Harpe, 75, of Sparta, died Tuesday, Jan.1, 2002 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was retired from the Navy.

Born February 12, 1926, in Stephensport, KY, he was the son of the late Clarence and Wilma Harpe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lola (Garcia) Harpe.

Survivors include a daughter, Maria Reneau, Key Largo, FL; a sister, Gladys Percel, Vincent, IN; and one grandchild. The family chose cremation, so no services were planned. Livingston Funeral was in charge of the arrangements.

Rhoda (Dudney) Denson
Funeral services for Mrs. Rhoda (Dudney) Denson, 91, of Gainesboro, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro with Bro. Dewayne Chaffin officiating. Burial was in John L. Clark Memorial cemetery in the Stone Community of Jackson County with Anderson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Denson died Monday, Jan. 7 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker, a member of the Church of Christ, and a resident of the Roaring River Community of Jackson County.

Born May 11, 1910, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Mack and Belle (Jenkins) Dudney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Averette Dudney, Sam Dudney, Charles Dudney, Bill Dudney, and Nelson Dudney; and three sisters, Mary Nell Hix, Sarah Netherton, and Agnes Hall.

Survivors include three sons and three daughters-in-law, Ewin L. and Mary Lou Denson, Livingston, Shirlie and Judy Denson, Cookeville, and Jerry and Joyce Denson, Gainesboro; three grandchildren and a granddaughter-in-law, Joey and Tammy Denson, Gainesboro, Jackie Denson, Bozeman, MT, and Tyler Denson, Cookeville; and two great grandchildren, Josh Denson and Ashley Denson.

James Paul Bowman
Funeral services for Mr. James Paul Bowman, 74, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Ronald Strong officiating. Burial was in Hoover cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Bowman, a retired retail merchant, died Thursday, August 12, 1999, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born November 1, 1924, in Overton County, he was the son of the late William and Dessie Bullock Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bronzie Carr Bowman.

He was a member of Hilham Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Russell Bowman and Ronnie Bowman, both of Livingston; a daughter, Robin Bowman, Livingston; three brothers, Bill Bowman and Bobby Bowman, both of Livingston, and Donald Bowman, Algood; a sister, Christine Eldridge, Algood; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Ada G. Rich
Memorial services for Mrs. Ada G. Rich, 68, of Monroe, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 1999, from Midway Christian Church. A military service followed at Cope cemetery with Byrdstown Memorial Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

She was the daughter of the late Adah and Jesse W. Rich Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Jesse Rich Jr., Daniel Rich, Bill Rich, George Rich, and John Rich.

Mrs. Rich, a retired master sergeant for the U.S. Marine Corps, died Tuesday, November 2, 1999.

She was a member of the Roaring River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include nine sisters, Fran Williams, Knoxville, Alba Johnson, Lake City, Ava Allred, Old Hickory, Enola Roehrer, Margaret Huckeby, Norma Kerbaugh, and Jean Parsons, all of Monroe, Sandra Rich, Sparta, and Jane Lefew, Harrisburg, NC; five brothers, Clif Rich, Stockton, CA, Sam Rich, Columbus, MI, Perry Rich, Monroe, Mannion Rich, Atlanta, GA, and Kelly Rich, Jamestown; many nieces and nephews; a godson, Adam Robbins; and a host of friends.
