Bobby Don Davis, born August 27, 1936, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2000, at his home after a lengthy illness.
He made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ on March 22, 2000.
He was retired from Brockwell Construction.
He enjoyed camping and trout fishing.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Don Davis Jr.; mother, Pearl Black Davis; and brother, Edward Davis.
Sadly missed by his wife, Sondra Davis of Newport; daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda Davis Colby and Brian Colby of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Karen Davis Graham and Jay Graham of Newport, Donna Davis Lamb and Kevin Lamb of Newport, and Caprice Ward Black and Joe Black of Newport; son, Jason Davis of Newport; grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob and Sara Colby of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Lucas and Austin Graham of Newport, and Katie and Madeline Lamb of Newport; father, Burnett Davis of Newport; brothers, Alvin of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania, Jerrell (Judd) of Dandridge, and Terry and Pat Davis, both of Newport; sister, Joan Davis Jenkins of Elgin, South Carolina; and special friends, Rev. Alvin Watts and Jack Rector, both of Newport.
Service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. Alvin Watts officiating. Interment
will be at Union cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.

Jerry Minnis McClanahan, 21, of Newport, died at Johnson City Medical Center on Monday, April 10.
He is survived by his children, Jerry Hunter Scott McClanahan; daughter, Brianna Michelle McClanahan, both of Newport; parents, Jerry and Brenda McClanahan of Newport; sister, Kristy Templin of Newport; grandparents, Minnis and Martha McClanahan of Newport, and Ruby Lowry of Knoxville; nephew, Jake McClanahan of Newport; also aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Armando Fontes and Rev. Mike Brooks officiating, with burial in Union cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at Manes Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Carol Dykes
Died: 09/28/1998
Elizabeth Carol Dykes was born on May 30, 1930. She departed this life at 5:35 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 1998 at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville after an extended illness following heart surgery.
Elizabeth was born and raised in Newport, where she attended and graduated from Tanner School. Upon graduation from high school she enrolled at Morristown College.
In September 1995 she retired from Hunts Foods, formerly Stokely Van Camp, Inc. and Quaker Oats, after 30 years of service.
She was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she was an usher and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Elizabeth married Roland Dykes, Jr. on April 8, 1951. This union produced seven children. All those who knew Elizabeth, knew she lived for and loved her children dearly. She was a dedicated, loving, caring, and supportive mom and wife. When not spending time with her family or friends, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to various cities and states.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her dedicated and loving husband, Roland Dykes, Jr; seven children, Roland, III, of Talbott, Stephanie Stewart, of Newport, Gary Alan, of Newport, Kathy Sims, of Knoxville, Vivian Reed, of San Antonio, TX, Maurice “Dion,” of Newport, Eric Scott “Scotty,” of Knoxville, and one step-son, Terry Stewart, of Newport; four daughters-in-law, Rhonda, Carla, Mary Lynn, and Stacey; three sons-in-law, Don Stewart, John Sims, and Mark Reed; thirteen grandchildren, Terra, Brian, Terrence, Mickey, Trey, Chasity, Damian, Garren Tyler (G.T.), Kristina, Evan, Chelsey, Dion, and Zephanie; mother and father, Virgil and Maudella Dirl, of Newport; one sister, Betty Jean Robinson, of Newport; six sisters-in-law, Essie Barton, Nettie Sue Swagerty, and Bernice Banks, all of Newport, Mamie Ray Julian, of Chattanooga, Marian Berry, of Springfield, MA, and Della Saunders, of Indianapolis, IN; special aunt and uncle; Lousie Davidson, of Newport, and John Swagerty, of Florida; and a host of special nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, September 28, and the funeral will begin after the wake.

Charles William Ellison, age 59, of Del Rio, died Saturday morning in a Morristown hospital.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Fred R. and Bessie Ellison; brothers, Jay and George Ellison; and sisters, Wanda Winters, and Jetta Rosalee.
He is survived by his brother, Junior Ellison and L.D. Ellison, of Del Rio; brother and sister-in-law, R.C. and Sondra Ellison, of Coeburn, VA; sister, Irene Hartsell, of Del Rio; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Edward Caldwell, of Del Rio; special niece and nephew, Dale and Tonya Ellison; and several other nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Manes Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William Winters officiating.
Interment will be in the Sand Hill cemetery.

J.T. (Humpy) Quinton, age 90, of Newport, passed away Sunday, September 27, at the home of his daughter, Jinny.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tyler and Ida Bell Quinton and his wife, Mary Edith Busler Quinton.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Virginia (Jinny) and Twain Finchum, of Newport; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Vivian Quinton, of Sevierville; grandchildren, Terry and Pam Finchum, of Sevierville, Mike Poe, of Jonesboro, GA, Tammy and Lynn Janutolo, of Kodak, and Karen and James Eby II, of Sevierville; great-grandchildren, Zack Finchum, Ashley Janutolo, John Janutolo, James Eby III, and Taylor Eby; sister, Pauline Shaver, of Newport; and brother, Bigie Quinton, of Cowpens, SC.
The funeral service will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Manes Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Wilson officiating. The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Bruners Grove cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service.

Norma Jean Cook, 70, of Seymour, passed away Monday, April 17, at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville.
Mrs. Cook was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed working with flowers and crafts.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Webb.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her loving family: husband, Walter E. Cook of Seymour; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Cindy Cook of Novi, Michigan, and Steve and Janet Cook of Seymour; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Steve Barnett of Smyrna, Gina Layman of Newport, and Annette and Dean Cottengaim of Mitchell, Indiana; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, David and Kathy Watson of Mitchell, Indiana; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Bud George of Mitchell, Indiana, and Janet and Fount Armstrong of Dade City, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cook is at Highland South Funeral Home, 9010 E. Simpson Road, Knoxville, TN 37920, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.
Entombment will follow in the Highland South cemetery Mausoleum.

Helen E. Angello, 51, of Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Newport, died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, August 30, at University Drive V.A. Medical Center, Oakland, Pgh., after a cancer illness.
Born December 7, 1946, in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Negley and Genevieve Nixon Rearick Negley.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War.
She is survived by six sons, Michael R. Angello, Thomas R. Angello, Steven A. Angello, and twins - Joseph D. and James A. Angello, all of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Wayne A. Angello of Newport; two grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Jane Negley of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. William (Alice Mae) Sullivan of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Robert (Ruth Ann) Williams of Valleyview, Texas, Mrs. Edward (Stella Marlene) Morris of Forrestburg, Texas, and Sara Ellen Negley of Oklahoma; five brothers, John Alexander Negley of Wrightsville, Pennsylvania, Edgar Harper Negley and Robert William Negley, both of Butler, Pennsylvania, Richard Nixon Negley of York, Pennsylvania, and Roy Wick Negley of Tarentum, Pennsylvania; and three half-brothers, Jon Rearick and Kenneth Rearick, both of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, and William Rearick of Tarentum, Pennsylvania.
Friends will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 West Jefferson St., Butler, Pennsylvania, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with services from the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. John Neyman of Cornerstone Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in South cemetery.
