The Rev. Hoye Bunch
Retired Baptist minister

The Rev. Hoye Bunch, 81, of Clinton, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mr. Bunch served as the pastor of Union Valley Baptist Church for 38 years until his health forced him to retire.

He had worked at Magnet Mills in Clinton until the mill closed, and he had also worked for the Anderson County Highway Department for 24 years.

He was the son of Milus and Martha Bunch, who are now deceased.

Mr. Bunch is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vera Crumpley Bunch; two daughters, Nancy Wires and her husband, Kyle, of Vicksburg, Miss., and Martha Hooks and her husband, Ronnie, of Clinton; a son, John Bunch and his wife, Mary, of Heiskell; a sister, Deloras Duncan of Clinton; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Ruth Bunch of Oliver Springs.

He is also survived by four granddaughters, three grandsons, two step-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, five great-grandsons and three nieces.

Members of Union Valley Baptist Church were considered special friends.

A son, Charles Stephen Bunch, a great-granddaughter, Jessica Paysinger, and two sisters and a brother all died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Union Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Benny Braden officiating. The body will be on view for an hour before the service.

Burial will follow at McCarty Woodhaven Memory Gardens in Claxton.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, June 19, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.

Billy Hendrickson
Oak Ridge resident

Billy Joe Hendrickson, 60, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mr. Hendrickson is survived by his son and two daughters, Gary Lee Hendrickson, Billie Joann Loewen and Donna Jean Hendrickson, all of Michigan; and a sister, Edna Cunningham of Oak Ridge.

No service will be held.

McCarty-Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Kenneth Paul Kidd
Master parts specialist

Kenneth Paul Kidd, 32, of Clinton, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mr. Kidd was employed as a master parts specialist for Advance Auto Parts in Knoxville.

He was born in Knox County on Oct. 2, 1965, the son of Jack Kidd of Seymour and Vanita Sue Emert Kidd, who is now deceased.

Mr. Kidd was a member of Farmers Grove Baptist Church in Clinton.

In addition to his father and his stepmother, Carolyn Kidd, he is survived by his wife, Anne Henderson Kidd; his son, Josh Kidd of Clinton; his sister, Donna Rochat of Knoxville; two brothers, Johnny Kidd of Blaine and Jimmy Kidd of Knoxville; and by several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Saturday night, Aug. 15, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Moss Beets and the Rev. Chris Thomas officiating.

A graveside service was held Sunday, Aug. 16, at Farmers Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

Bruce E. Pyle
Self-employed mechanic

Bruce E. Pyle, 28, of Park Lane, Andersonville, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Mr. Pyle was a self-employed mechanic.

He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Andersonville.

Mr. Pyle is survived by his wife, Angela Ridge Pyle; two daughters, Brandy Pyle and Cierra Pyle, and a son, Charles Pyle, all of the home; his mother and stepfather, Mary and Dennis Cooper of Andersonville; his stepmother, Frances Pyle of Andersonville; and his grandmothers, Rhoda Hill and Rosa Pyle, both of Andersonville.

He is also survived by two sisters, Michelle Pyle and Jessica Golden and her husband, Wayne, all of Andersonville; four brothers, Roger Pyle of Andersonville, Kevin Cooper of Virginia, Joseph Cooper of Clarksville and Brian Hayes of Michigan; and by a niece and two nephews.

His father, Elbert Pyle, died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Faith Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Bell and the Rev. Earl Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at New Home cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Aug. 17, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.

Rowena V. Lauver
Norris resident

Rowena V. Lauver, 87, of Norris, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Mariner Health Care of Norris.

Mrs. Lauver was born in Andersonville, the daughter of Alvis and Lizzie Longmire. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Andersonville.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Tressa Lauver of Alcoa; and by several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, George W. Lauver, died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Jim Hunt officiating.

Burial will follow at Andersonville cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Randall Lee McCoy
Lake City resident

Randall Lee McCoy, 68, of Lake City, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mr. McCoy is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Young and her husband, Stanley, of Lake City; two sons, Steve McCoy and his wife, Lakidale, of Lake City, and Mark McCoy and his wife, Cheryl, of Oak Ridge; his wife, Ann McCoy, and children Jesse and Debra McCoy of Clarkesville, Andy and Teresa McCoy of Clinton and Amanda McCoy of Beech Grove; and two brothers, J.P. McCoy and his wife, Crickett, of Beech Grove, and David McCoy of Briceville.

A graveside service with full military rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Beech Grove cemetery with the Rev. Floyd Scarbrough officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Jan. 5, at Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City.

Edward Joseph Sender
Retired accountant

Edward Joseph Sender, 72, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Sender was retired from the police department of Cleveland, Ohio, where he had worked as an internal accountant.

He was born in Northampton, Pa., on Sept. 19, 1925, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Sender had been a resident of Oak Ridge for 25 years and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Guy Sender; a stepson, Larry Basler and his wife, Gail, of Knoxville; a step-granddaughter, Lynn Murray of Knoxville; and a step-great-granddaughter, Kerri Murray, also Knoxville.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating.

Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lorene Lowe Upchurch
Oliver Springs native

Lorene Braden Lowe Upchurch, 81, of Whitmore Lake, Mich., died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, in Michigan.

Mrs. Upchurch was born in Oliver Springs on Dec. 22, 1916, the daughter of Richard and Maude Lockett Braden, both now deceased. She had lived in the Ann Arbor area of Michigan since 1950.

She had worked for the University of Michigan for 18 years. She was a member of Chapter 211 of the Order of Eastern Star and of the Townline Group, both in Michigan.

Mrs. Upchurch is survived by two sons, Richard C. Lowe and his wife, Josephine, of Whitmore Lake, and Steve W. Lowe and his wife, Carol, of Ann Arbor; five grandchildren, Scott Lowe and his wife, Linda, Steven Lowe and his wife, Jerilyn, Stacy Hugenot and her husband, Scott, Lisa Harris and her husband, Rich, and Laura Haas and her husband, Jeff; and five great-grandchildren, Angelina Lowe, Elizabeth Lowe, Travis Lowe, Steve Haas and Dean Haas.

She is also survived by a sister, Viola Bartley of Whitmore Lake; and three brothers, Bill Braden, Sam Braden and his wife, Katherine, and Jay Braden and his wife, Peggy, all of Oliver Springs.

Her husbands, Willie Lowe and Curtis E. Upchurch, a sister, Eula Shears, a brother-in-law, John Shears, and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Braden of Oliver Springs, died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Jan. 5, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Tony Rutherford officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Butler cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Butler cemetery Care Fund, in care of James H. Braden, 294 Airport Road, Oliver Springs, TN 37840.

Vera Boshears Eastridge
Pleasant Grove Baptist member

Vera Boshears Eastridge, 80, of Coalfield, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at the Morgan County Life Care Center in Wartburg.

Mrs. Eastridge was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield.

She was born in Coalfield on Aug. 21, 1917, the daughter of Franklin Boshears and Lillie Ruffner Boshears.

She was the widow of Reid H. Eastridge.

Mrs. Eastridge is survived by two daughters, Shelby Adcock and her husband, Paul, of Chattanooga, and Jackie Goodman and her husband, Ralph, of Wartburg; a son, Gary Eastridge of Coalfield; and two sisters, Virgie Foster of Wartburg and Frankie Boshears of Coalfield.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Darrell Adcock, Gina Wells, Bob Adcock, Edwin Adcock, Bradley Adcock, Elaine Adcock and Missy Allen; and by seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield with the Rev. Mack Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Estes cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is handling arrangements.

Marguerite Carter Harris
Retired DOE secretary, mayor

Marguerite Eloise Carter Harris, 80, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Columbia Southern Hills Hospital in Nashville.

Mrs. Harris at one time lived in Huntsville, Ala., and worked at the Redstone Arsenal. She came to Oak Ridge in 1945 and worked in civic service as a secretary for the Atomic Energy Commisison, the precedessor to the Department of Energy. Her family estimated that sheretired from DOE in 1982.

She was born in Langston, Ala., on Oct. 22, 1917, the daughter of Joseph Sidney Carter and Annie Lou Evans Carter.

After Mrs. Harris' retirement from DOE, she moved back to Langston and served as the town's mayor from 1983 to 1984. She also served as the Langston city clerk prior to and after serving as mayor.

Mrs. Harris had been active with the volunteer firefighters. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She had an interest in family genealogy and did a lot of reading in that subject, the family said. She also enjoyed flowers and liked to work outdoors planting flowers.

She is survived by a daughter, Lou Ann Harris Cristy and her husband, Stephen, of Oak Ridge; a son, Mathew Christian "Chris" Harris Jr., and his wife, Charlotte, of Antioch; a sister, Wilma Carter Holland of Langston; four grandchildren, Hilary Ann Harris of Antioch, Samuel George Cristy and his wife, Celerina, of Arlington, Va., Matthew Joseph Cristy and his wife, Mary, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jennifer Lee Cristy of Oak Ridge; and by two great-grandchildren, Joshua Brown and Garrett Brown, both of Jacksonville.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harris' sisters, Ada Evans Carter and Evelyn Hope Carter Blackerby, and a brother, Joseph Sidney Carter Jr., died earlier.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. T.J. Orear-Wesley officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset cemetery in Clinton.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Oak Ridge Cancer Cupboard, P.O. Box 6216, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-6216; or to Meals on Wheels, Anderson County Unit, East Tennessee Human Resource Agency, 408 N. Cedar Bluff Rd., Suite 150, Knoxville, TN 37923.
