Dorothy Taylor
Kingsport - Dorothy Helene Tanner Taylor, 85 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 5, 2006 at her residence. Dot was born in Pensauken, PA but had lived in Kingsport for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Taylor, her parents, John and Helene Bode Tanner, step-brother, Clyde Altizer and great-grandson, Johnathan Cradic.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Cradic, granddaughter, Kristie Cradic and grandson, Kenneth Cradic all of Kingsport. Great-Grandchildren, James Casteel, Dustin Wayne Cradic, Brittany Cradic and Charles Taylor Cradic, two sisters, Elizabeth Connerton of PA and Edna Shepard of Washington, DC.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Larry Nelson officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday at Hermon United Methodist Church cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:55 PM.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport, is in charge of arrangements.

James Gooden
James Edward "Jim" Gooden, 60, of Del Rio, TN, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2006, at Jefferson City Health Care, Jefferson City, TN.
He was born in Kingsport and grew up in East Carter Valley and for the last three years he lived in Del Rio, TN. Jim attended the Shoemaker School (Gate City) and the Walnut Chapel Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel William Gooden, Jr. and Frances Jayne Gooden; an infant brother and his step-mother, Myrtle Hargis Gooden.
Surviving is his sister, Evelyn R. Adams and husband James of Del Rio, TN; two daughters, Darlene Hammonds of Kingsport and Stacy Murray of Ft. Hood, TX; two grandchildren, Tessa Hammonds and Ciera Hammonds; two aunts, Lena Mae Newland and Edith Newland; an uncle, Paul Gooden; two nieces, Jayne Ogle and Rebecca Valentine and two nephews, Samuel Claude Adams and Grant Adams.
Calling hours are from 5 - 7 pm on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Newland, Rev. Steve Downard and Rev. Dean Jaynes, officiating. Music will be provided by Susan Adams and Corneilia Edminster.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am Friday, October 6, 2006 at Walnut Chapel Church cemetery, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be Allen Newland, Jackie Newland, John D. Valentine, Eric Ogle, Jacob Adams, and Lee Adams. Honorary Pallbearers are Stephen Murray, Claud Adams, Grant Adams, Chris Henderson, Bryan Henderson, Kelly Williams, Tom Newland, Mike Newland, John B. Valentine, John Edminster and David Wadley. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery by 10:55 am.

Paul P. Riley
Paul P. Riley, 81, Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, October 4, 2006 at Sunbridge Hillside Manor after a brief illness.
Paul was born in Honaker, Va, to the late James A. Riley, Sr. and Minnie Stone Riley. He grew up in Butler, and Bluff City, TN. He graduated from Steed College with a degree in accounting. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II serving in the Phillipines and Japan.
He retired from Mason-Dixon in 1984 after 37 years of service as Manager of General Accounting. He later retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Agriculture after 10 years of service.
Mr. Riley was a past president of the Sullivan County Republican Party. He had been a state committeeman of the Tennessee Republican Party.
He had served as past president of the Sullivan County March of Dimes and was fundamental in organizing the March of Dimes Telerama. He had been a member of the Kingsport Sertoma Club, American Legion Hammond Post #3, and VFW Post 3382. He had been a member of Litz Manor Baptist Church for 55 years.
He was a loving husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his only son, Gary Paul Riley in 1992; two brothers, James A. Riley, Jr., and John P. Riley; and two sisters, Mrs. Audrey Fleming, and Mrs Martha Griffin.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Ida Jones Riley; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Bruce Hobbs; granddaughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Chad Domby; grandsons, Tyler Hobbs, Jonathan and Joshua Riley; three great grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Peyton Nicole Domby, Ashton Paige Domby, and Griffin Chandler Domby; his sister, Mrs. Kathleen (Joe) Lipford; several nieces and nephews, special friend, Rufus Hood; and his two special dogs, Ivy and Rocky.
Military graveside services conducted by American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265 will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 6 2006, at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. Pallbearers will be Rufus Hood, Wayne Riley, Jimmy Riley, Bill Pierce, Ted McCown, and Jerry Adams. Honorary Pallbearers are Sam Griffin, Earl Meade, David Barnes and Jerry Teague.
A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport, with Dr. Danny M. West and Pastor Bill Steele, officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel following the service.

James Pearcy
CHURCH HILL - James Daniel Pearcy, 48 of Church Hill, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 6, 2006, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born on December 26, 1957, he was the son of Jearl D. and Clara "Peggy" Jessee Pearcy.
He is survived by his daughter, Julia Worley and husband Mike of Kingsport; grandchildren, Kayla Tipton and Ethan Worley; special life-long friend, Jean Pearcy; his parents, Jearl Pearcy and Clara "Peggy" Pearcy; sisters, Debbie Barnette and husband Lonnie and Anita Riner Depew and husband Danny all of Church Hill; nieces, Tonya Dalton and Jessica Letterman; nephews, Adam Riner and Nathan Manis.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Carl Smith and Pastor Ronnie Trent officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:55 PM.

Charles Kennard
JOHNSON CITY, TN - Charles Edward Kennard, 60, of Johnson City, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2006, at his residence.
Born in Stone County, MS, (Wiggins), Charles moved to Cleveland, TN at an early age before moving to Kingsport in 1987. He was a nurse, having retired from Indian Path Medical Center. Charles was a member of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church in Johnson City, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Vernal E. and Maudie (Smith) Kennard.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Jean Hampton Kennard of the home; sons, L. Corey Kennard and wife Rita of Elizabethton, TN and Patrick E. Kennard and wife Cindy of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Brianne Kennard, Melodie Kennard and Jillian Kennard; sister, Mrs. Robert (Laura) King of Wiggins, MS; brothers, James V. Kennard of Rossville, GA and Leslie Kennard of Wiggins, MS; very special friends, Jim and Judy Ramey of Gate City, VA; faithful and loyal companion, Milky Way; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM on Monday October 9, 2006 at Unaka Avenue Baptist Church, 1213 East Unaka Avenue, Johnson City, TN.
Services will follow at 7:00 PM at the church with Rev. Jim Kennard and Eugene Kennard officiating. Music will be provided by Brian Sharp. Pallbearers will be family & friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Tuesday at the TN-GA Memorial Park in Rossville, GA.

Landon Tarbuk
KINGSPORT - Landon Bryce Tarbuk, age 14 of Kingsport, went peacefully from his home on Friday, October 6, 2006 following a life-long illness.
He was born in Johnson City, TN and had lived in Dallas and San Diego. Landon had attended Jackson Elementary, John Sevier Middle and was currently a freshman at Dobyns Bennett High School. He was an avid golfer and had received many awards and recognitions including, an honor award from John Sevier, a Warrior's Pride Award, Army Values Award, with a certificate recognizing his personal courage. Landon was featured in the Health Wellness Magazine and participated in several TV interviews regarding organ donations.
His ambition was to be a doctor. His smile will always be remembered and his demonstration of courage was an inspiration to other students. Close family and special friends called him "Pumba" and "Little Wonder".
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Claude Wallace; paternal uncle, John McDowell and his loving dog, Bear.
Landon is survived by his parents, Tom and Cathy Tarbuk of the home; sister, Morgan Bingham and husband W. R. of Kingsport and DariAnne Amato and husband Barry of Nashville; brother Stephen Tarbuk of the home; step-sister, maternal grandmother, Nina Lewis and maternal step-grandfather, Dale Lewis both of Fall Branch; paternal grandparents, Stephen and Lorraine Tarbuk of San Diego, CA; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many many special friends.
A memorial celebration of Landon's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday October 15, 2006 at John Sevier Middle School, 1200 Wateree St, Kingsport, TN, with Rev. Carl Strickler officiating. The family will receive friends, at the school, immediately following the memorial service. The family asked that those who wish may wear red and white, (school colors).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Tennessee, 4450 Walker Blvd Suite 2, Knoxville, TN 37917.
The family would like to thank the nurses in PICU at Johnson City Medical Center who were like family to him and the staff at John Sevier Middle School who have done so much.

Polly McClain Teaster
KINGSPORT - Polly McClain Teaster, 65, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 12, 2006 , at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Hawkins Co., TN and lived in Kingsport for most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewitt and Cora Mowell McClain.
Surviving is her four sons, Julian McClain of Kingsport, Bob Mabry of Oak Ridge, Fabian Mabry of Kingsport and Fredie Teaster of Johnson City; two grandchildren; two sisters, Fern Pridmore and Louise Harlen and brother Cecil McClain all of Kingsport.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Bowser-Mowell Family cemetery, R.C. Bennett Road, Kingsport. Palbearers are her family and friends.

Alan Storie
Alan Eugene Storie, 43, of Kingsport, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 14, 2006, at his residence.
He was a life long resident of Kingsport where he attended High School at Dobyns-Bennett High School. Alan was of the Baptist Faith.
He was peceded in death by his father, John C. Storie and a son, Jamie Storie in 2005.
Surviving is his mother, Mareda M. Storie of the home; his wife, Michele Hite Storie; his two daughters, Lavonda Suzanne Storie and Amber Leann Storie all of Greeneville, TN; two grandchildren, Calvin Storie and Nathan Storie; two aunts and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at the Mowell cemetery, Kingsport with Rev. Roy Morelock, officiating. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery by 12:55 pm.
