Mary Gertrude Lyon, 92, of Baytown, passed away Saturday in a local hospital.

Mary Elizabeth Grahmann Eilers

Mary Elizabeth Grahmann Eilers, 94, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2006. She was born on December 23, 1911 in Hallettsville, Texas. After working in Houston as a young woman, she moved to Baytown in 1934, when she married Edward Lampard Eilers. They were married for over fifty years, and together they raised six children. She retired from the Goose Creek Independent School District after over 25 years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Altar Society, the KJZT and the Third Agers. She moved to Fredericksburg, Texas in 2001.

Richard Clayton Andrus

Richard Clayton Andrus, USN CDR Retired of Memphis. Tennessee. Born march 2, 1920 in Beaumont, Texas to Clayton Calvert Andrus and Evelyn Marie Abshire Andrus. Dick Graduated form Robert E. Lee High School in Goose Creek, Texas. he attended Lee Community College where he played forward on the basketball team. He also attended Memphis State University and the University of Tennessee. His wife of 53 years Maynard Whitenton Andrus and daughter Mary Louise Andrus Thornton preceded Dick in death. Dick was commissioned in the United States Navy in August of 1942. He served as fighter pilot during World War II and the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal w/ star American Campaign, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, 3 starts for Korean Service, the United Nations Service Medal, a Korean Presidential Commendation and Navy Unit Commendation. He retired from Active Duty

John Edward Murray

John Edward Murray, 47, of Highlands, passed away Monday, January 23, 2006, at his home. He was born September 8, 1958 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Charles and Lucy Ann Murray. John worked for the Millwrights Local 2232 for 29 years.Johnny is survived by his loving daughter, Macy Murray; parents, Charles and Lucy Ann Murray; brothers, Gary Murray, Danny Murray and his wife, Barbara; niece, Samantha Murray; three aunts, three uncles, and numerous friends and relatives.

Audrey Broussard

Audrey Broussard died on January 20, 2006. She was born on February 22, 1927. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Auzenne, Deann Broussard, Alice Faye Sanderson, Varonica Kerney and son, Donald Broussard. The funeral will be held at Our Mother of Mercy in Beaumont, Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Call 409-838-6597 for more information.

Edwin Otto “Buddy” Kluck

Edwin Otto “Buddy” Kluck, 86, was born in Burton, Texas January 18, 1920 and went to be with his Lord and Savior January 23, 2006.

Buddy lived in the Burton area and worked as a farmer until he joined the Texas National Guard in 1940. He was in a Calvary Unit and they were activated to patrol the Texas Mexican border and was discharged in 1941. Once being discharged he came to Baytown and started working in the maintenance department with Humble Oil and Refining. He worked for Exxon for over 40 years before retiring. He was one of the original members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church when it started at the Exxon Community Building in 1943. Buddy enjoyed working in his yard. He was a long time member of the Baytown Elks Lodge.

D. C. "Bo" Mangum, Jr.

D. C. "Bo" Mangum, Jr., 65, of Baytown, TX was born January 22, 1941 in Corpus Christi and passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2006 in a local hospital.

He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown in 1959 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in P.E. in l963 from Southwest Texas State San Marcos. He accepted Gods call to the ministry in l962 and following graduation, received a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth in 1968.

Harry Dennis Ligons

Harry Dennis Ligons was born October 2, 1916 and departed his life January 19, 2006. He is preceded in death by his father, Harry Dennis Ligons Sr’ mother, Mary Love Ligons; 6 sisters and 3 brothers. Harry made his marks in life at Colbert High School and Liberty High as an athlete and honor student. He worked at Exxon, 30 years before retiring due to disabilities. Harry married Maggie McGee Ligons July 19, 1939. Added to this union were seven children. He came to Christ at Mount Olive at of 10 years old. Harry was a determined and successful black leader. He was a member of the P.T.A.; Athletic Club, Booster Club (Dayton High), The S.O.S., Volunteer Club, on the Board of Housing Liberty and Dayton, Volunteer of the Texas Department of Human Resources; and Board Director about 4-5 years. Harry was a Mason Brother Pedigree #127 and the Cleveland Masonic Family #394; Master for 50 years. He leaves to cherish his memory a wife of 67 years, Maggie McGee Ligons, 4 daughters, Juanita Harvey, Harriet Scott, (Felix), Berley Gants (Thomas), and Carol Major; 3 sons, Harry Dennis Ligons III (Pat), Noland G. Ligons (Mary Jane), Calvin E. Ligons (Rhonda) and one sister, Mary Lee McHenry and one brother H. L. Ligons. 3 sisters-in-law, Jeanette McGee, Jimmie Ligons, Gladys Freeman, 2 brothers-in-law, Ed Payton Sr., and Harry Carney, 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alejandro Garcia Ruiz

Alejandro Garcia Ruiz, 88, passed away January 23, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Leonor Ruiz; children, Mary Rodriguez and husband Tony, Gloria Barrera and husband Joe; grandchildren, Tina Rodriguez, Ricky Rodriguez, Sr. and wife Freedom, Tony Rodriguez, Jr. and wife Marisa, Diana Garcia and husband Ricky, Joe Barrera, Jr. and wife Ana, Danny Barrera and wife Tania, Michael Barrera and wife Josie, Maria Cook and husband Clint; great-grandchildren, Patrick Gonzales, Ricky Rodriguez, Jr., Michael, Tiffany, Malissa, and Jonathan Rodriguez, Vieney, and Jr. Jarramillo, Amber, Ricky Jr., and Giovana Garcia, Claudia, Bodie, and Marc Barrera, Kyle, and Hector Barrera, Christopher Derooy, Codie, and Hunter Cook; brother, Jose Ruiz and wife Josefina, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Faye Baughman

Faye Baughman was born February 13, 1914 in Mabank, Texas and went to be with her Lord and Savior January 23, 2006. She was a long time resident of Baytown. She worked for Tri-City Optical for over 20 years. Faye was a long time faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church. She was a very active member and participated in the Living Christmas Tree. She enjoyed her family, granddaughters and great-grandchildren. She was a shopper from the word go and really enjoyed people.

Anna L. Thompson

Anna L. Thompson, 84, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at a local hospital with her family by her side. Anna was born in MoroBay, Arkansas on February 20, 1921 to Arthur and Ida Temple. Anna has resided in LaPorte since 1948. She worked as a dietician at Boy’s Harbor. She was a member of Deer Park Church of God. She enjoyed cooking, baking and crocheting. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Berniece Cox

Berniece Cox, 90, a resident of Baytown, TX for over 50 years, was born January 8, 1916 in Stamps, AR and passed away Sunday, January 22, 2006 in La Porte.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Betty Moore

Betty Moore of Smithdale, MS, formerly of Baytown, went to be her Lord on Jan. 21, 2006, after a short battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi on 8-15-28. Her life was devoted to her family, education, and missions. She retired after 31 years of teaching in many places, including Dayton, TX. She served as a missionary in Romania, Jamaica, Ukraine, American Samoa and numerous locations in the United States.

Lottie Gertrude Sheffield

Lottie Gertrude Sheffield, 78, of Baytown, TX was born September 27, 1927 in Eastgate and passed away Saturday, January 21, 2006 in a local hospital. She was a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church, where she served as the Financial Secretary for 50 years and as a nursery worker for 35.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Dr. E. Richard Steel, Dr. Mark Broussard, and Brother Tomas Medrano officiating. Burial will follow at Hill of Rest Cemetery.

Pat Henderson

Pat Henderson passed peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 19th, 2006. She was fifty-nine years of age. A memorial service will be held at Navarre Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 25th. Visitation begins at six p.m. with a service at seven o’clock.

Pat was born in Galesburg, Illinois in 1946. She was the third child of Joseph and Marjorie Cecil, and had a total of ten brothers and sisters. She moved to Texas as a young girl and graduated from Baytown’s Robert E. Lee High School in 1965. She then went on to attend Lee College and has worked as an administrative assistant at Exxon for the past fifteen years.

Artee Hart

Artee Alton Hart, 80, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, at Memorial Health System of East Texas in Lufkin.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Hart of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Jeanne Hart of Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Clyde Williams of Livingston; grandchildren, Christie and Wesley Detro of Dayton, Toby and Trisha Reagan of Katy, Derek Hart of Austin and Corey Hart of Austin; great-grandchildren Austin Detro and Trinity Reagan; sister-in-law Bobbie Hart; and nephews Mark Hart and Trey Hart.

Baby Michael Garcia Jr.

On Wednesday, January 18, 2006 the Lord called upon Baby Michael Garcia, Jr., son of Michael & Nicole Garcia of Baytown, TX.

Michael leaves behind a host of relatives and friends including, grandparents Chuck & Peggy Williams of Angie, La., Ross & Gabriela Orsina, and Leo & Rosie Garcia of Baytown, Texas.

A Graveside service will be held at Earthman Memory Gardens on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 11 a.m.

Donald Pryor

Donald Earl Pryor, 63, of Katy, passed away, Thursday January 19, 2006. He was born September 7, 1942, in Baytown, Texas, to David Pryor, Sr., and Frances (Craig) Pryor. He graduated from Robert E. Lee high school and then attended the University of Houston receiving his Bachelors degree. Donald then entered the United States Air Force in 1966; he proudly and honorably served his country for the next 4 years. He was retired from Occidental Petroleum. Donald was a devoted father, son, grandfather, brother and a treasured friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Grace Magee

Grace Pauline Magee went to be with her Lord and Savior January 17, 2006. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan June 18, 1928 and moved to Baytown as a young child. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1946 and attended Lee College. Grace was of the Catholic Faith. She worked as a Bookkeeper for Bayshore Hospital for many years. She enjoyed watching soap operas and Cowboy and Indian t.v. shows. She enjoyed going crabbing but most of all she enjoyed dancing, R&B music, her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and telling stories of the old days to them.

Aaron L. Curtis

Aaron L. Curtis, 88, entered into eternal life on February 6, 2006. He is survived by his three daughters, Anna Mae Russell and her husband, Nunley, Frances Jorgenson and husband, Sammy, and Barbara Richey and her friend of many years, Philip O’Connor; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; siblings, Marvin Curtis and Anna Elting-Griffith, Sammie Wright, Margie Watson and Billie Harvey and many supportive friends.

Greg Johnson

Greg Johnson, 48, of Dayton, TX, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 7, 2006. He was born in LeCompte, LA. He worked as an operator in construction and as a hairdresser. He was a member of The Church of Christ. He was a member of the CCA. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and won a boat for first place in the flounder division with the GCCA.

Donald Gene Kerr

Donald Gene Kerr, 72, of Waco formerly of Highlands and Baytown passed away on Friday in Waco. The family received visitors from 6pm - 9pm on Monday at Sterling-White Chapel in Highlands. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday at Sterling-White Chapel in Highlands. Rev. Roy Cloudt and Rev. Gene Graham will officiate. Committal services and interment will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.
