Mr. Brannan

Charlie Brannan Sr., 81, of Waxahachie, formerly of Comanche, died Feb. 4 in the Selet Specialty Hospital in Desota. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church of Comanche Feb. 5 with Mr. Brannan’s nephew, Pastor Charles Partin, officiating and Dr. Van Christian assisting. Burial followed in Indian Gap.
He was born Dec. 12, 1923 in Indian Gap, the son of the late Gus Brannan and Ora Neighbors Brannan. He was married to Vern Ell Starr on May 10, 1947 in Longview.
Mr. Brannen was a graduate of Le Toureneau College and had been a vocational agriculture teacher at Texas A&M University and at Texas State Technical Institute. In addition, he was a sponsor for the Royal Ambassadors of the First Baptist Church of College Station as well as Teaching Sunday school classes through the years. After retiring from Texas State Technical Institute in 1979, he and his wife moved back to Possum Ranch in Comanche.
Survivors include his wife, Vern Ell Brannan; a daughter, Linda Ledford of Waxahachie; two sons, C. Wade Brannan and wife Annette of Irving; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Oleta Partin of Brady and a brother, Warren G. Brannan of Groesbeck.

Mrs. Wenzel

Mathilda Lois Wenzel, 82, died at Hamilton Feb. 4, 2005. Funeral services were held Feb. 7, 2005 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hamilton with Pastor Russell Nebhut and Vicar Robert Reibau officiating. Burial was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery at Aleman.
Mrs. Wenzel was born on June 5, 1922, the daughter of Charles Carl Drescher and Elizabeth Mary (Schutz) Drescher in Smithville.
She was married to William (Willie) Carl Wenzel on Jan. 21, 1950. They were members of St. Paul Lutheran in Aleman until 1964 when they transferred to St. John Lutheran in Hamilton.
Mrs. Wenzel was an active member of St. John’s Ruth Guild until her health prevented her from leaving her home as well as a member of the Hamilton VFW auxiliary serving in various offices over the years. She was also a member of the American Legion auxiliary of Hamilton.
She also enjoyed working at the Hamilton Senior Citizens Center where she volunteered a great deal of time.
Mrs. Wenzel loved the outdoors. She spent countless hours tending to her flowers and her yard. She worked hard to clear and cultivate the large lot behind her house. When her health began to decline, she often spoke of her desire to be able to go outside and work in her flower beds.
Mrs. Wenzel is preceded in death by her parents and three of her siblings, Frank Drescher, Marie Nietsche, and Minnie Drescher, and one step-grandson Patrick Scott Lumby.
Survivors include her two sons; Carl John Drescher of Hamilton and Charles Eugene and wife Jeannette of Gatesville; two brothers, Paul Drescher and wife Liz of Austin, and Alfred Drescher and wife Dina of LaGrange; an extended family of grandchildren, Marsha Alta and husband John, Charles Drescher Jr., Kassandra Drescher, and Andria Rogers; five great-grandchildren, Macy Baker, Dawn Drescher, Shelby Drescher, Ashleigh Barney, and Valley Meisner.
Pallbearers were Frank Drescher, Joe Haynes, Glenn Howard, Roy Nietsche, Eddie Rauch and Jimmy Rausl.

Mrs. Knoll

Dee Alva Knoll, 85, died Feb. 3, 2005 in San Antonio. Funeral services were held Feb. 6 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Dick Stovall officiating and burial following in the Whittenton Cemetery.
Mrs. Knoll was born on Nov. 1, 1919 in Gustine, the
daughter of Luther and Fannie Knoll.
She started her career with the Department of Defense in 1942 at Camp Hood. She retired with thirty years
of service in 1972.
Mrs. Knoll was well known for her organizational skills and her meticulous nature. As a result of these skills, she was presented with awards and honors from the Department of Defense.
She was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed history
as well as current events. She was instrumental in the care of her mother in her mother's final years.
She liked dogs very much and had very fond memories of her collie, Sammy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James, George (Bert), Artie and Don and by sisters, Winnie and Nina.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Proctor

Doris Leighton Proctor 84, died Dec. 3, 2002 Hamilton. Funeral services were held Dec. 5 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stan Sullivan officiating. Burial followed in Restland Cemetery in Dallas.
Mrs. Proctor was born June 15, 1918 at Corsicana, Texas to John Miller Reed and Edrie Eugene Leighton Reed.
She was married to Loren Charles Bowie in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1975.
In 1984 she was married to Edward W. Proctor who also precedes her in death.
Mrs. Proctor was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the Episcopal Church.
Survivors include three children, Buckie Pate of Hamilton, John Bowie of Houston and Cheryl Fisher of Athens; five grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren and one brother John Miller Reed of Dallas.
Pallbearers were Morris K, Padgett, Jon English, Kelly Ralls, David N. Gorman and Steven Padgett.

Mr. Edmondson

Joe Donald (Donnie) Edmondson, 64, of Hamilton, died Dec. 2. Funeral services were held Dec. 4 2002 at the Hilltop Baptist Church in Hamilton with Rev. John Farris officiating. Interment was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Pottsville, Texas.
Mr. Edmondson was born July 29, 1938 at Gatesville, Texas to Bryon Lattie Edmondson and Trula Erwin Edmondson.
He graduated from Itasca High School in 1957. He was an insurance salesman for 30 years. On January 3, 1976 he was married to Ruby Wendland at Fort Worth. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Edmondson of Hamilton; three children, Wayland Edmondson of Fort Worth, Quata Baggett and husband Paul of Joshua; Bryon Edmondson of Fort Worth; two step children, Eddie Wuistinger and his wife Joyce of Fort Worth and Becky Singleton and her husband Keith of Waxahachie; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one sister Cherri Medcalf and husband Dwayne of Tolar.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Gene Edmondson.
Pallbearers were Kevin Robinson, Steve Bynum, Ryan Lee, Steve Erwin, Josh Terrell and Curtis Wendland.
Honorary Pallbearers were Chad Robinson, Greg Carmushch, Roy Reinert and Keffer Bynum.

Mrs. Fay

Dollie Fay, 87, of Gatesville died Dec. 1, 2002 in a Gatesville nursing home. The family held a private memorial service.
Mrs. Fay was born Feb. 12, 1915 in Lohn, the daughter of Jessie and Lula Ann Fulliger Shaver.
She attended high school in Brady, college at Howard Payne and Southwest State Teachers. She taught school prior to marrying James C. Fay of Brownwood.
They made their home in Aurora, Colo. where she worked as a secretary for Samsonite Corporation for 11 years. She was a member of Gamma Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. They later moved to Shawnee, Colo. where she was a member of the Platte Canyon Community Church.
For many years Mrs. Fay and her husband spent their summers in Colorado and their winters at their ranch near Evant. In 2002 they bought a house in Gatesville and moved back to Texas.
She was a loving woman who wanted to be remembered for her kindness and compassion for animals.
Mrs. Fay was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter.
Survivors include her husband, J.C. Fay of Gatesville; a son, Jim N. Fay and a grandson, Jason J. Fay, both of Vancouver, WA; two sisters, Grace White of Eldorado and Alvarie Taylor of Sun City Georgetown and a niece Kay Alexander of Dallas.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Walraven

John Kevin Walraven, 46, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 in a local nursing home. Graveside services were held Dec. 3 in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Walraven was born Aug. 4, 1956.
Survivors include his mother, Audry Walraven of San Angelo, a daughter, Amanda Walraven of Hamilton, a son, Duncan Z. Walraven of Grape Creek, and a brother, Mickey Walraven of San Angelo.

Mrs. Stone

Wilma Lea Burlin Stone 69 of Hamilton died at the Hamilton Nursing Home Dec. 6 after an extended illness. Memorial services were held at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gilbert Donald and Rev. Richard Johnston officiating.
Mrs. Stone was born June 16, 1933 at Liberty, the daughter of Henry and Stella Davis Burlin. After completing high school at Hull-Daisetta she earned a bachelor degree from the University of Sam Houston at Huntsville and became a schoolteacher a profession that she loved.
After entering the Hamilton Nursing Home she still extended her love for teaching by helping the children of the staff with their homework. She was devoted to her church, loved reading and teaching from the bible and sharing her faith with others.
She was married to Hoyt Sleeper Morgan from 1953 to 1969. She was married to Floyd Stone from 1972 to 1974.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Thomas Morgan and his wife Arlene of Huntsville, Ala., Stanley Hoyt Morgan Sr. and wife Becky of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Heather Diane Hansard and husband Andy, Stanley Hoyt Morgan Jr., John Richard Morgan and one great-grandson Jaxon Shane Hansard all of Hamilton; a sister Norma Faye Morgan of San Antonio and a brother Lowell Henry Burlin and his wife Elva of Beaumont.
She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law Diane Morgan.

Mrs. Merkley

Marie Merkley, 82, of Longview died Dec. 9 in a Longview nursing center. Funeral services will be held Dec. 12 in the Good Samaritan Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward, Okla. with Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward.
A native of San Antonio, Mrs. Merkley was born Sept. 16, 1920 and was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She had been a Girl Scout Leader and a Children’s Choir director.
She lived in Longview for the past six months, moving from Woodward, Okla. where she had lived for 20 years. Prior to Woodward, she had lived in Boise City, Okla. and Hamilton.
Mrs. Merkley was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George E. Merkley.
Survivors include her daughters, Marie Ellizabeth Middlebrook of Bunkie, La., Barbara Anne Jones of Longview and Susan Louise Gray of Springfield, Ohio; a son, George Robert Merkley of Woodward, Okla; grandchildren, Tina Bellomy and Mike Middlebrook of Bunkie, La., Elizabeth Gray and Andrew Gray of Springfield, Ohio; John David Jones and Daniel Jones of Longview, B.J. Merkley and Rayna Merkley of Woodward, Okla; great-grandchildren, Myla Bellomy of Bunkie, La. and Maura Merkley of Woodward, Okla.

Mrs. Bosse

Gladys Lee Schwartz Bosse, 82, died March 10, 2004 at Hamilton. Funeral services were held March 13 at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Shive with Pastor Peter Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery .
She was born April 11, l921, the second daughter of Otto Schwartz and Ethel Vick Schwartz. She attended school at Connell School at Shive then Hamilton High School, where she graduated.
She was married to Lesly Bosse on February 9, 1941 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shive. They lived for a brief time in San Diego, Calif. while her husband worked for Consolidated Aircraft, then moved to Fort Worth.
The couple moved back to Shive in 1946. Mrs. Bosse, Maw-Maw to her grandchildren, was a charter member of Shive Grange #1629, a sewing machine operator at Patty’s of Texas, a Senior Center worker and was a homemaker, also taking care of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Ethel Schwartz and one sister, Margie Horton.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Lesly W. Bosse of Shive; a sister, Francis Stanford of Weatherford; three children, Patricia and Glenn Murphree of Norse, Michael and Debbie Bosse of Shive and Janet and Harold McClain of Copperas Cove; six grandchildren, Walter Bosse, Kristi Williams, Stacy Pfluger, Toni Kienbaum, Dawn Crain and Krystal McClain and three great-grandchildren, Aubrey Williams, Taylor Bosse and Zach Crain as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Pallbearers were Ancel Horton, Jerry Stanford, Joe Stanford, Jack Stanford, Bill Adams and Steve Seidel.
