Pedro Rincon, 75, passed away on March 19. He retired from El Paso Electric Co. after 44 years and is survived by his children — Pedro Rincon Jr., Irma Salcido, Rodolfo Rincon, David Rincon, Ricardo Rincon and Fernando Rincon — 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Burial was March 22 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Katherine Struempler, 83, passed away March 19. She is survived by her husband Elmer Struempler, children — Ray Williams and Richard Struempler — 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Burial was March 23 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

J.O. Stewart Sr., 88, passed away March 22. He was one of 11 children of a pioneer family and lived more than 70 years in El Paso. He is survived by his children — J.O. Stewart and Jan Gentry — and a grandson. A memorial service took place March 26 at First Baptist Church. Burial was private.

Myrtle Ozine Wagner, 66, passed away March 21. She had been a resident of El Paso since 1960 and is survived by her children — Thea Chambers, Toni Hegstrom, Zina Thompson, Theo Joseph Wagner — and one grandson. Entombment was March 24 at Evergreen East Mausoleum.

Evelyne Watson, 83, passed away March 19. She hosted “Mature Living” on KCOS in the ’90s and was a retired accountant. She is survived by her daughters — Sandra Watson Myers and Faye Watson Brown — four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Burial was March 23 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Raul Zepeda, 81, passed away March 21. He was a retired tailor and is survived by his children — Manuel Zepeda, Ramon Zepeda, Carmen Sotelo, Mary Salazar and Rosalinda Mata — 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Burial was March 23 at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Maria Avila Quiñones, 95 passed away Nov. 27. She was born in Chihuahua, Chih., and at age 7 moved to Las Cruces where she lived until her marriage to the late Paulino Quiñones. She then moved to El Paso where she worked at Aaronson Brothers until her retirement. She is survived by her children — Ramona Orona, Armida Vega, Rogelio Qui-ñones and Cesar Quiñones — 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 - 9 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 2) with rosary at 7 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home — Central. Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Monday (Dec. 3) at St. Patrick Cathedral, followed by interment at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Doug Atkins, 76, passed away Nov. 29 in Del Mar, California. He was the first publicity director at Sunland Park Racetrack and served in that capacity from 1959 through 1965. He is credited with helping to get the racing program at the Upper Valley track off the ground. He came to Sunland Park from California where he had many connections with horsemen and enticed some of them to race their horses at Sunland. He also brought such nationally known jockeys as Bill Shoemaker, Johnny Longden and Eddie Arcaro to ride horses at Sunland Park. He is survived by his wife, Lee. Services were to be held in California.

Else Marie Weiland, 87, passed away Nov. 8. She spent the later part of her life in El Paso and was an accomplished artist who belonged to several art societies, including the Oil Painters and Fine Arts Guild in El Paso. She taught art and worked in several recreation centers with the elderly. She is survived by her daughters Deborah A. Hagen and husband Duane, and Danita Mancini, sister Agnes Thomsen, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Burial was Nov. 10 at Rosemont Cemetery in Sedley, Texas.

William John Talish, 88, passed away Nov. 6. He was a volunteer with Del Sol Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospital and worked for the International Service Corps., which took him and his wife to Brazil, Australia, Japan and Hong Kong. In his capacity as manager of General Instrument Corp. (now Pollack Electronic Production Division), he and his wife spent 5 1/2 years in Taiwan. He is survived by his wife Irma, daughters Janet Bruce and Phyllis Massios, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service took place Nov. 11 at John T. Bean Masonic Lodge in El Paso.

Judith Farley Turner, 61, passed away Nov. 7. She was active in real estate during the 70s and then became an independent business owner. She is survived by her husband Johnny Turner, three sons Dow Farley and wife Krystyne, Mitch Farley and wife Bella, and Trevor Farley and wife Renee. She also is survived by her husband’s children — Christian Turner and wife Sultan, Todd Turner and wife Sharon, and Marjey Sell and husband Phil — as well as 10 grandchildren. Graveside services were Nov. 12 at Evergreen East.

Jewel Faye Butler, 73, passed away Nov. 5. She was a missionary and a longtime El Pasoan. She is survived by her sons Larry Michael Butler, Cornell Conway Butler and Tyrone M. Butler — one sister, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Nov. 11 at Holy Light Church of God in Christ followed by burial at Concordia Cemetery.

Roberta Maxine Greenwood, 77, passed away Nov. 9. Survivors include her husband, Robert Richard Greenwood, children — Robert R. Greenwood Jr., Gerry Greenwood, Gregory C. Greenwood, John R. Green-wood and Robin Greenwood — four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services were Nov. 13 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Juan Murillo, 83, passed away Nov. 8. He was a civil service employee at Fort Bliss for 40 years, a World War II veteran and a lifelong El Pasoan. He is survived by his wife Luz G. Murillo, son Xavier Murillo, two sisters, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Burial was Nov. 12 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Evelyn Estelle Pippen, 89, passed away Nov. 8. She was a homemaker and a longtime El Pasoan. Survivors include her son Gary Pippen and wife Pam and her sister Elizabeth Stringer. Graveside services were Nov. 8 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. The family suggested memorial contributions could be made to Bethany Christian Church, 10453 Springwood Dr., El Paso, TX 79925.

Walter Edward Schneider, 72, passed away Nov. 10. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked for General Electric X-Ray and later became a partner in Holmes & Schneider Inc. He then formed his own company, Accutron, and most recently had been owner of Med-Tech Part Sales. He is survived by his children — Daniel Schneider, William Schneider, Karen Carr, Janet Schneider, Elaine Schneider and Donna Krupinski — 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment was Nov. 13 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Leonor M. Morales, 93, passed away Nov. 8. She was a longtime resident of El Paso and a member of the Catholic Church. She is survived by her children — Salvador Ballinas Jr. and wife Elvira, Joaquin Morales Jr. and wife Laura, Alicia B. Aldana and husband Manuel and Beatrice Rice — five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Interment was Nov. 14 at Evergreen Alameda Cemetery.

Pamela Ann Sanders passed away Nov. 11. She worked as an instructor at El Paso Community College for 15 years and in the X-ray department at Providence Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband Elzie Owen Sanders Jr., children — Tammy Renne Sanders, James Ray Parker and Donald Owen Sanders — her mother Mary Elizabeth Hale, three sisters and a brother. Graveside services were Nov. 15 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Humboldt, Tenn.

Alfredo Jaime, 72, passed away Nov. 10. He was a longtime resident of El Paso and a retired dry-wall subcontractor. He is survived by his wife Juana Jaime, children — Alfredo Jaime Jr., Gerardo Jaime, Jerardo Cordero, Alejandrina Roepke and Iwalani Herrera —brother Arturo Jaime and sisters Elvira Martinez and Alicia Leyva. Interment was Nov. 14 at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Emmett L. Bracewell Jr. (Bracey), 72, passed away Nov. 13. The longtime El Paso resident was a retired conductor for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 47 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and First Christian Church. He loved going to Las Vegas, enjoyed reading the newspaper and was a great fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Phylis Bracewell, son Ronald and wife Patricia Bracewell, step-children — Timothy Gene Foucher, James Glen Wallace, Roy Lee Francione, Robbie Kay and husband Jay Walker, Laura Diann Stelling — five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Burial was Nov. 16 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.

Maria Luisa Close, 101, passed away Nov. 4. She retired from the Popular Dry Goods Department store and had lived at the Chelsea Retirement Home until she was 99. She was affectionately known as “Pretty Mama” to her three grandchildren — Marie Antoinette Barrueta, Mike Barrueta Jr. and Ernie Barrueta — eight great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Interment was Nov. 16 at Restlawn Mausoleum.

Dolores A. Arellano, 104, passed away on Nov. 12. She was a longtime resident of Clint and is survived by her children — Isabel Arellano, Agustin Arellano, Juan Arellano, Ramona Arellano, Trinidad Arellano and Guadalupe Lynge — as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Burial was Nov. 15 at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Virginia B. Seitz, 84, passed away Nov. 2. She was a 46 year resident of El Paso, a member of the Wallace Hughston #1100 Order of the Eastern Star since 1960 and was a licensed practical nurse at Hotel Dieu Hospital for a decade. She also worked a time as the manager of a retail store at Sunrise Shopping. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, John M. Seitz, her children — John C. and wife Inger Seitz, Michael W. and wife Joyce Seitz and Thomas R. and wife Greta Seitz — 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Memorial services were Nov. 5 at Sunset Funeral Home ,Northeast. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 4400 N. Mesa St., Suite 9, El Paso, Texas 79902.

Benjamin Herrera, 58, passed away Oct. 31. He had been a long time resident of El Paso and was a member of the Catholic Church and employed as a truck driver. He is survived by his wife Hilda E. Herrera, children — Humberto Herrera, Victor H. Herrera, Gerardo Herrera, Benjamin Herrera, Jose L. Herrera, Sergio Romo, Ramon Romo, Laura H. Parra, Myrna Jimenez, Esdenia Arzate, Candelaria Gonzalez, Lourdes Rojero and Marivel Romo — 23 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, brother Jose Herrera and sister Evangelina Beltran. Interment was Nov. 5 at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Adeline M. Hanson, passed away Nov. 1. She had been a lifelong resident of El Paso, retired from the Popular Dry Goods Co. and was a former board member of the El Paso Counsel of Aging. She is survived her children — Joan C. and Raul Lopez , Edna Mae and Mike Lockamy — sisters Fabiola I. Pinon and Celia Phillips and husband Bob, grandchildren — Eduardo A. Chavez Jr., Yvette E. Lascurain, Michelle D. Lopez, Raul Lopez, Rudy Lopez, Sheila White and Kevin Boetto — and two great-grandchildren. Interment was Nov. 6 at Evergreen Cemetery (Ala-meda).

She is survived by her husband Fernando Padilla, children — Ruben Padilla, Socorro Ortega, Josefina Lopez and Yolanda Fonseca — 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brother Juan Renteria, and sister Francisca Renteria. Burial was Nov. 7 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Enrique Chavez Sr., children — Isela C. Rosales and husband Raul Rosales, Yolanda C. Raley and husband Jesse C. Raley, Lucinda Chavez, Rosemary Chavez, and Elizabeth J. Velasquez and husband Alfonso A. Velasquez, Enrique Chavez Jr. and wife Patricia M. Chavez, Jaime Chavez and wife Laura O. Chavez, Rodolfo Chavez and wife Gloria C. Chavez, and Samuel Chavez and wife Blanka B. Chavez — 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment was Nov. 8 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Dr. Gayle D. A1len, 93, passed away Nov. 3. He received his degree in veterinary medicine at Kansas State University in 1933 and began his career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. His career assignments took him to Arkansas, New Mexico and finally to E1 Paso in 1957. After his retirement in 1973, he became active in several El Paso student clubs, including the 4-H clubs, as an instructor of animal care and breeding. He was also a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association and raised rabbits for show. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of El Paso. He is survived by his sons Kenneth Allen and Raymond Allen, one grandson, two great-granddaughters, and one sister. Graveside service was Nov. 9 at Evergreen East Cemetery.

She was a longtime resident of El Paso and is survived by her sons Norberto Leyva Jr., Tomas Leyva and Ruben Leyva, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and sisters Mary Valenzuela, Irene Talbott, Clara Ybarra, Naomi Tucker and Armida Anderson. Interment was Nov. 9 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Gardea and Violet Carrillo, grandchildren Charlie, Lizzie and Eddie Gardea, and great-grandchildren Aryk, Brian and Kevin Gardea, Margaux Salas, Pamela and Paulo Gonzalez, and John Charles and William Thomas Gardea. Interment was Nov. 7 at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
