Mabel Boyd

Mabel Lucy Boyd, 76, of Denton died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at her home.

She was born May 9, 1925, in Danville, Va., to John Harvey and Nellie J. (Powell) Lewis. She married Adam Loser in Pennsylvania in 1945. He died in December of 1982. In August of 1992 she married Hershel Boyd Sr.

Mrs. Boyd was a retired seamstress from Russell's Department Store and a homemaker. She served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Tieken officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 22, at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband of Denton; a stepson, Hershel Boyd Jr. of Ponder; a daughter, Calinda Buice of Denton; a stepdaughter, Marsha Brenholtz of Sanger; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Virginia Rich

Virginia D. Rich, 93, of Denton died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at the Care Inn in Sanger.

She was born May 29, 1908, in Fort Worth to Richard B. Dixson and Katie Mae Key Dixson.

The graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. in Moore's Memorial Gardens in Arlington.

Survivors include one brother, Walter Dixson of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren. Her husband, Robert Bonnell Rich, and two sons, Robert Allen Rich, and Franklin Delano Rich, are deceased.

DeBerry Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Barry Fitch

Little Elm - Barry Fitch, 42, of Little Elm died Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Frisco.

Schmitz-Floyd-Anderson Funeral Home of Denton.

William Keller

Sanger - William Henry Keller, 73, of Sanger died Friday, June 22, 2001, at his home.

He was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Celina to John Henry Keller and Corrine Biebers Keller. On Oct. 1, 1949, he married Mary Ann Lewis in McKinney.

Mr. Keller was the owner of C and K Paint and Body in Farmer's Branch for 33 years and was a member of the Church of Christ of Sanger.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.

Pallbearers will be Brent Keller, Brandon Keller, Zackary Keller, Brandon Langdon, Tommy Jones and Earl Ross.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of Sanger; four sons, William Michael Keller, Steven Ray Keller and Danny Dwayne Keller, all of Sanger, and Harold Eugene Keller of Blue Ridge; one brother, Marion Haley Keller of Blue Ridge; five sisters, Louise Hill, Beatrice Dickerson, Faye Riley and Maye Capps, all of McKinney, and Raye Hancock of Garland; and three grandchildren.

Ross Petty

Sanger - Ross Petty, 88, of Sanger died Friday, June 22, 2001, at his home.

Coker Funeral Home of Decatur.

Maria Riddles

Rhome - Maria Del Rosario Riddles, 42, of Rhome died Friday, June 22, 2001, at her home.

She was born May 27, 1959, in Mexico. On Mar. 19, 2001, she married J.W. Riddles in Bowie.

Ms. Riddles was a homemaker.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 25, in the chapel of Coker Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial will be in Perryman Cemetery in Forestburg.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband of Rhome; mother, Josephine Quirarte of San Antonio; two sons, Tenoch Eusebio Arreola Quirarte and Cuitlahuac Jose Arreola Quirarte of Mexico; three daughters, Xochitl Maria Ibarra Arreola and Tonanci Lucero Arreola Quirarte, both of Mexico, and Jocelyn Anna Riddles of Fort Worth; four brothers, Diego, Ruben, Thomas, and Jose Mario Castillo, all of Mexico; seven sisters, Marcelina Perez, of Del Rio, Estella Pulsipher and Guillermina Quirarte, both of San Antonio, and Annita, Rosie, Guadalupe, and Maria Quirarte, all of Mexico; and four grandchildren.

Arthur Barclay

Arthur Hugh Barclay Jr., 85, of Denton died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at his home.

He was born April 25, 1916, in Saint Louis, Mo., to Arthur Hugh Barclay and Kate Snider Barclay. On May 19, 1939, he married Grace Janet Woodward in Chicago, Ill.

Mr. Barclay graduated from Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as an engineer equipment maintenance repair officer for the Corps of Engineers and was discharged as a major. He was the general manager of Southern Portland Cement Companies in Bushland at the time of his retirement.

He was an Eagle Scout and Scout Master for the B.S.A., president (1985-1988) of Habitat for Humanity in Amarillo, board member (1974-1979) of United Way of Amarillo, president (1976-1977) of the Amarillo Executive Association, life member of the Texas Association of Business and Chamber of Commerce, past president and Paul Harris Fellow of the Amarillo Rotary Club, fifty-year member of the American Institute of Mining and Petroleum Engineers, life member of Texas Pageant, director of Don Harrington Discovery Center in Amarillo, and a board member of the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association.

The memorial service will be held in Amarillo. DeBerry Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Janet of Denton; one daughter, Susan Myatt of Denton; one son, Don Barclay of Terrell; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. One brother, Donald Neil Barclay, is deceased.

Alton Blankenship

Alton Melton Blankenship, 96, of Denton died Friday, June 22, 2001, at the Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

He was born July 30, 1904, in Troupe to S.J. Blankenship and Lee Eldora McCaghren Blankenship. On March 12, 1927, he married Cleta Mae Cockrell in Denton. She died June 29, 1996.

Mr. Blankenship was a plumber and owner and operator of Blankenship Plumbing. He was a member of the Denton 45 Knights Templar of Texas, Standfield Lodge 217.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

The service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 25, at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Cliff Feeler and Dr. Jeff Williams will officiate. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors from 3 to 5 p.m. today, Sunday, June 24, for visitation.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church/Habitat for Humanity Fund, Vitas Hospice, 2501 Parkview Drive #600, Fort Worth 76102.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlie Marie Goss of Denton; one sister, Bobbie Ruth Long of DeSoto; one brother, Victor Blankenship of Dallas; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren

Robert Ellison

Robert James Ellison, 31, of Denton died June 20, 2001, at Denton Regional Hospital.

He was born Oct. 28, 1969, in Santa Ana, Calif., to David A. and Rita Hamblen.

Mr. Ellison was a student at the Denton State School.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 25, in the Ivey Chapel at the Denton State School. Dr. Dennis Schurter and the Reverends Steve Wilson and Stan Steadman will officiate.

The family will be at Goen-Hudgens Funeral Home from 3 to 4 p.m. today, Sunday, June 24, for visitation.

Survivors include his parents, David and Rita Hamblen of Grand Prairie; grandparents, Elmo and Mildred Hoover of Hemet, Calif.; one sister, Juanita Battle of Roanoke; and three brothers, Bruce Hoover of Hemet, Calif., David Hamblen of Grand Prairie, and Vaughn Hamblen of Euless

Virginia Rich

Virginia D. Rich, 93, of Denton died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at the Care Inn in Sanger.

Ethel Robinson

Ethel Fay Robinson, 82, of Denton died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Denton Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Feb. 13, 1919, in Oklahoma.

William Barnett

Grand Prairie - William "Bill" David Barnett, 42, of Grand Prairie, formerly of Denton, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, of natural causes.

He was born Nov. 10, 1958, in Lafayette, La., to Harold D. Barnett and Mary Jo Barnett.

Mr. Barnett attended high school in Denton.

The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.

Survivors include his father, Harold Barnett; one sister, Meg Barnett; and one brother, Craig Barnett.

Maria Cabrera

Collinsville - Maria "Lupe" Guadalupe Cabrera, 95, of Collinsville, formerly of Laredo, died Friday, June 22, 2001, at her home.

She was born Feb. 7, 1906, in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, to Pedro and Natalia (Garcia) Cabrera Medellin.

Miss Cabrera graduated from Laredo High School in 1926 and, after receiving her temporary elementary certificate from Southwest Texas State University, she began teaching. In June of 1937, she graduated Summa Cum Laude and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Texas. She taught Spanish at the University of Texas in Austin while pursuing her master's degree and teaching Spanish at Martin High School. She received her master's degree in 1948. In 1953 she became the first counselor in the Laredo school district. In 1959 she became the system-wide guidance coordinator for Laredo. Miss Cabrera was selected as an Outstanding Educator of America in 1974. She also worked for the March of Dimes for 20 years. She served in the United States Navy Intelligence Service from 1942 to 1945.

She was a member of Saint Patrick's Parish in Laredo.

The graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Monday, June 25, at the Catholic Cemetery in Laredo. Monsignor Thomas Davis will officiate.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

Barry Fitch

Little Elm - Barry Linn Fitch, 41, of Little Elm died Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Frisco.

He was born July 4, 1959, in Mineola.

Mr. Fitch was a welder.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, at Schmitz-Floyd-Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville.

The family will be at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Sunday, June 24, for visitation.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Survivors include his parents, Jack and Frances Fitch of DeSoto; two daughters, Alice Connor of Denton and Brianna Pavlovich of Pittsburg, Pa.; one son, Timothy Fitch of Krum; two brothers, Kevin Fitch of Little Elm and Scott "Bump" Fitch of Hickory Creek; and one sister, Karen Kidd of Duncanville

Ross Petty

Sanger - Ross Petty, 88, of Sanger died Friday, June 22, 2001, at his home.

He was born July 5, 1912, in Bonham.

Mr. Petty was a retired landscaper.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, in the chapel of Coker Funeral Home. The Rev. Dewey Lang will officiate. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Sherman.

Pallbearers will be Ted Frazier Jr., Ronnie Frazier, Phillip Reunlett, Rick Petty, Dave Hunter Jr., and Lee Hunter.

The family will be at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Sunday, June 24, 2001 for visitation.

Survivors include his wife, Jewell Petty; four daughters, Hazel Baver of Lucas, Judy Frazier and Betty Hunter, both of Sanger, and Linda Gillette of Midlothian; two sons, Glen Petty of Euless and Larry Petty of Ben Franklin; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Two daughters, Frances Petty and Wendell "Mickey" Hunter, are deceased.
