Services for Grace Elene Cooper Baker, 84, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan. The Rev. Ray Marshall of Reliance Baptist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Mrs. Baker died Wednesday in Bryan.

She was born in Crystal Falls, Texas. She was a resident of Bryan since 1942. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Baker.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwendolyn and Larry Padgett of Phoenix and Barbara and Larry Luza of Bryan; one brother, Marion F. Cooper of National City, Calif.; one sister and brother-in-law, Emma Ruth and Clint Pruitt of Bryan; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Manuel Manson Davenport
June 14, 1929 — Aug. 31, 2000

Memorial services for Manuel Manson Davenport, 71, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at All Faiths Chapel on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Davenport died Thursday.

He was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., and had lived in Bryan for 33 years. He had been a professor of philosophy at Texas A&M University since 1967. He served as department head from 1967 to 1976 and was director of the graduate program in philosophy from 1990 to 1994. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois and served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mitchel and Crystal Davenport of Santa Fe, N.M., and Mark and Beth Davenport of San Antonio; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marian Davenport of Houston and Linda and Will Barrett of San Diego; a brother, Ray Davenport of Colorado Springs; a sister, Dorothy Frase of Fort Collins, Colo.; his mother, Anna Davenport of Colorado Springs; and seven grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Manuel Davenport Society, Texas A&M University, Department of Philosophy.

Mary Louise Derrough
July 18, 1912 — Sept. 1, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Mary Louise Derrough, 88, of Madisonville are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.

Lanier Stevens of the North Madison Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in the Madisonville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Derrough died Friday in Madison St. Joseph Health Center.

She was born in Leona.

Survivors include three sisters, Maurine Covey of Madisonville, Jeanette Hopkins of Leona and Lela Faye Tidwell of Dallas; and a cousin.

William Earnest Lanehart Jr.
Sept. 16, 1922 — Sept. 1, 2000

Services for William Earnest Lanehart Jr., 77, of North Zulch are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan.

The Revs. David Murphy of Calvary Baptist Church and Dwayne Mallett of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Restever Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lanehart died Friday at his home.

He was born in Clifton, Texas, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for the Department of Transportation for 42 years, 30 of those years in Austin and 12 in Bryan. He was a Baptist and had been a deacon for 52 years.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Mae Lanehart of North Zulch; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Fred Lanehart of Bryan, John and Jewel Lanehart and Charlie Hall Jr., all of Houston.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 205 East 29th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803.

Guysell Neatherlin
Jan. 30, 1918 — Aug. 30, 2000

ROCKDALE — Services for Guysell Neatherlin, 82, of Houston are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Ron Benedick of the El Campo Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in the Sandy Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Neatherlin died Wednesday in Memorial Northwest Hospital in Houston.

She was born in Milam County and had lived in Houston for six years. She was a former resident of Sandy Creek and Waller, Texas, and was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Neatherlin.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Covey Ray and Nina Lou Neatherlin of Waller; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Thomas Churchwell of Eagle Lake, Texas; a sister, Verna Estell Hood of Rockdale; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Laura Marie Muirheid
Aug. 7, 1961 — Aug. 31, 2000

JEWETT — Services for Laura Marie Muirheid, 39, of Jewett are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Ephesus Baptist Church in Jewett.

The Rev. Ray Payne of Ephesus Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Little Flock Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at Ricks Funeral Home in Jewett.

Mrs. Muirheid died Thursday.

She was born in Orange, Texas, and had lived in Jewett since 1983. She was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church and was a guard with Citadel Security.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Wayne Muirheid.

Survivors include her husband, Omer Muirheid of Jewett; her mother, Delores Burgess of Baytown, Texas; father and step-mother, Glenn and Sherrie Burgess of Danbury, Texas; two sons, Randy Muirheid of Goldbar, Wash., and Russell Muirheid of Jewett; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rachel and George Nino of Koscivsko, Miss., and Amber Muirheid of Jewett; two brothers, Hank Debruhl of Baytown and Mark Burgess of New Boston, Texas; two sisters, Judy Taylor of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, and Glenna Swaim of Baytown; a granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris J. Hansen Quillions
Oct. 5, 1934 — Aug. 31, 2000

Services for Doris J. Hansen Quillions, 65, of Tennessee are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Floyd Polk will officiate. Burial will be in Steep Hollow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Quillions died Thursday in Tennessee.

She was born in Emerson, Neb.

Survivors include her husband, Guy Quillions of Tiptonville, Tenn.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sue Hansen of Dakota City, Neb., and Steven Henry Hansen of Talladega, Ala.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Leonard Long and Gail and William Schultz, all of Bryan; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Marvin and Yvonne Barge of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Larry D. Barge of Independence, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Margaret A. Akin
Sept. 20, 1907 — Sept. 2, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Margaret A. Akin, 92, of Navasota are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Navasota.

The Rev. Paul Felix of Christ Our Light Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.
A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Akin died Saturday in Canterbury Villa of Navasota.

She was born in Bandera, Texas, and was retired as a secretary for the A.S.C. office. She was a member of Christ Our Light Catholic Church and was an organist at the former St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Navasota for 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford J. Akin; and a stepson, James Everett Akin.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Laverne Akin of Wellborn; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Gerald Schaefer of Deer Park, Texas; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Aubrey H. Bates
Jan. 2, 1912 — Sept. 1, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Aubrey H. Bates, 88, of the Elwood community are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Elwood Baptist Church in Elwood.

The Rev. Adam Newcomer will officiate. Burial will be in the Allphin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Madisonville Funeral Home.

Mr. Bates died Friday in Huntsville Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Madisonville and had lived in the Elwood community since 1985. He was a former resident of Houston from 1938 to 1985. He was a carpenter and was a member of the Elwood Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rella Bates, and a son, Murriel Bates.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Betty Jane Bates of West Lake, La., and Dannie and Susan Bates of Magnolia, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Ann Louise Bates of Conroe, Texas; a brother, Virgil William “Bill” Bates of Porter, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Curtis Lynn ‘Curt’ Burlin
Oct. 25, 1971 — Sept. 1, 2000

Services for Curtis Lynn “Curt” Burlin, 28, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Chris Osborne of Central Baptist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in Steep Hollow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Burlin died Friday.

He was born in Lufkin, Texas, and had lived in College Station for two years. He formerly lived in Lufkin.

Survivors include his mother, Elaine Burlin of College Station; his father and stepmother, Morris L. and Margorie Burlin of Snook; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sondra K. and Paul Funderburg of Allen, Texas, and Terri L. and Eddie Allen of Lufkin; and his grandmother, Mary O. Burlin of Navasota.

Cecilia T. Glowski
Dec. 11, 1920 — Sept. 1, 2000

BREMOND — Services for Cecilia T. Glowski, 79, of Bremond are set for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond.

The Rev. Celso Yu of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Peiskee Funeral Home Chapel in Bremond.
Mrs. Glowski died Friday in the Fall’s Community Hospital in Marlin.

She was a lifelong resident of the Bremond area and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Theodore Budzicz and Willie Glowski.
Survivors include three sons, Daniel Glowski of Splendora, Texas, Floyd Glowski and Eugene Glowski, both of Magnolia, Texas; a daughter, Theresa Johnson of Bremond; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Antone Wilganowski of Bryan and Gertrude and Ralph Barsloue of Houston; a brother, Frank Budzicz of Hearne; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. William Glowski of Houston; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Josephine Lero
April 9, 1912 — Sept. 1, 2000

Services for Josephine Lero, 88, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lero died Friday in Bryton Inn Health Center.

She was born in Bremond and had lived in Bryan for 72 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Holy Rosary Society and the K.J.Z.T. and was a retired homemaker and seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike F. Lero, and a daughter, Barbara Simek.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Gail Ann Lero of Bryan; a daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Jay Allen of Bryan; a sister, Helen Galick of Houston; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund or the St. Joseph School Trust Fund.
