BARRY DEAN FERGUSON III

Barry Dean Ferguson III, infant son of Barry and Heather Ferguson, died May 18, 2000 at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Village Mills Cemetery in Village Mills under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.

Survivors other than parents include sisters, Nicole Ferguson and Amber Ferguson, both of Ivanhoe; grandparents, Bernice Pickett of Warren, Steve LaGrande and Kathy Ray, both of Bastrop, and Edna and Charles Fain of Huntsville; and great-grandparent, Lucile Voss of Pleasanton.

FRANK M. HERNANDEZ

Frank M. Hernandez, 48, of Beaumont died May 20, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont with burial at Magnolia Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

A lifelong resident of Beaumont, he was a retired Southwestern Bell Telephone operator.

Survivors include his wife, Kris Hernandez of Beaumont; sons, Frank Hernandez, Thomas Hernandez and Joe Hernandez, all of Beaumont; daughter, Michelle Hernandez of Beaumont; brothers, George Hernandez and Claude Hernandez, both of Beaumont; and sisters, Ofelia Theriot of Houston and Claudia Kelly of Lumberton.

GARY DEAN IKNER

Gary Dean Ikner, 43, of Elkhart died May 18, 2000 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Vidor with burial at Williamson Cemetery in Vidor under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Brewton, Ala., he lived in Elkhart many years and was a Sabine Valley Center associate psychologist.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Ikner of Elkhart; son, Gary Dean Ikner Jr., of Elkhart; daughter, Andra Alyse Ikner of Elkhart; parents, Sam and Delores Ikner of Vidor; brothers, Anthony Delmer Ikner and Richard Lee Ikner, both of Vidor, and James Samuel Ikner of Beaumont; and grandmother, Bernice Bobo of Beaumont.

Memorials may be made to Ikner Children’s Fund, c/o Fredonia State Bank, P.O. Box 430, Alto, Texas 75925.

VALARIE JEAN JACOBS

Valarie Jean Jacobs, 41, of Nederland died May 19, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Broussard’s Mortuary in Nederland.

A native of Watertown, N.Y., she lived in the Nederland-Port Neches area many years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include daughters, Felicia Jacobs of Beaumont and Sabrina Jacobs of Port Arthur; brothers, Terry Klock of Livingston, Kelvin Klock of Vero Beach, Fla., and Randy Klock and Alvin Klock, both of Willis; and sisters, Trudy Lee of Concord, N.C., Tina Hamilton of Conroe and Brenda Borden of Porter.

WILLARD MAHAFFEY

Willard Mahaffey, 80, of Mittie, La., died May 20, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Mittie with burial at Cherry Grove Cemetery under the direction of Beauregard-Vernon Funeral Home in DeRidder, La. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the church.

A longtime resident of Mittie, he was a retired Dry Creek Baptist Camp caretaker and was also a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Mahaffey of Mittie; son, James Rodney Mahaffey of Lafayette, La.; daughters, Ginger Turner of Prairieville, La., and Avlon Libengood of Deer Park; sisters, Ruby Hamilton of DeRidder and Rue Lewis of St. Joseph, La.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Dry Creek Baptist Camp.

LAURA SCOTT MERRIWEATHER

Laura Scott Merriweather, 78, of Orange died May 18, 2000 at her residence.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Orange under the direction of Geter Funeral Home in Orange.

A native of Jasper, she lived in Orange.

Survivors include her sister, Florine Scott Wilkes of Orange; and numerous nieces and nephews.

PRISCILLA BERWICK MILLER

Priscilla Berwick Miller, 87, of Groves died May 19, 2000 at Cresthaven Nursing Home.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with burial at Parish Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today with a vigil at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Church Point, La., she was a lifelong resident of the Orange area.

Survivors include daughters, Lettie Jean Blanda of Orange and Josie Sumrall of Nederland; sons, William Thomas Berwick of Orange, Edwin Paul Berwick of Walker, La., and James Monroe Berwick of San Antonio; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

JIMMY NUEBLING

Jimmy Nuebling, 78, of Beaumont died May 19, 2000 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

Graveside service will be Thursday at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Belleville, Ill., under the direction of Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville with local arrangements by Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of East St. Louis, Ill., he lived in Beaumont and was a retired pilot/flight instructor. He was also a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis J. Nuebling of Lebanon, Ill.; son, Stephen J. Nuebling of Oakville, Mo.; daughter, Barbara J. Schultz of Collinsville, Ill.; grandchildren, Gary Schultz and Steven Schultz, both of Collinsville; and two nephews.

DOROTHY LEE ‘DOTTIE’ OSBERG

Dorothy Lee "Dottie" Osberg, 75, of Sam Rayburn died May 20, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lake Rayburn United Methodist Church under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.

A native of Ardmore, Okla., she lived in Beaumont and Sam Rayburn many years.

Survivors include her husband, Ossie Osberg of Sam Rayburn; sons, Gary Lee Osberg of Bowling Green, Ky., Richard Craig Osberg of Chester Springs, Pa., Jeffrey Alan Osberg of Amherst, Va., and Michael Scott Osberg of Wilmington, Del.; daughter, Cathy Anne Codding of Wilmington; brothers, Lloyd Preston Wall of Midwest City, Okla., Vernon Wall and Bill Wall, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., Robert "Bob" Wall of Lake Eufala, Okla., and Guy H. Pierce of Moreno Valley. Calif.; sister, Marilyn Burkhart of Moore, Okla.; and 14 grandchildren.

PAUL V. PARIGI

Paul V. Parigi, 62, of Beaumont died May 19, 2000 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today at the mortuary.

A lifelong resident of Beaumont, he was an Ideco machinist and was also a Vietname War U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his mother, Josephine Parigi of Beaumont; sisters, Concetta St. Clair of Lumberton, Lily Fegan of Richmond and Kathy Jo Locus of Austin; and brothers, Sam V. Parigi of Beaumont and Joe V. Parigi of Wallisville.

ERMA OLINE ‘MA’ PECK

Erma Oline "Ma" Peck, 73, of Brookeland died May 20, 2000 at Timberlake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Jasper.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper with burial at Zion Hill Cemetery.

She was a resident of Brookeland.

Survivors include daughters, Sureal Marie Guin of Jasper, Penny Lynn Hranicky of Brookeland, Renee Dupont of Sam Rayburn, and Sherry Diane Moses and Candy Didrickson, both of Newton; son, Jessie James McClelland of Kirbyville; sisters, Modell Miller of Jasper and Elaine Letney of Brookeland; brothers, Walter Williams, Tony Williams and Thurman Williams, all of Jasper, and Gene Autry Williams of Deer Park; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

CLANEY JOSEPH PERRON

Claney Joseph Perron, 85, of Mamou, La., died May 19, 2000 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou with burial at Reed Cemetery in Lanse Megg, La., under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home in Mamou with local arrangements by Broussard’s Mortuary in Nederland.

A lifelong resident of Mamou, he was a commercial painter.

Survivors include his son, Malcolm Perron of Port Arthur; daughter, Bernella Gray of Nederland; sister, Belzie Guillory of Jasper; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

MEFFIE PETRY

Meffie Petry, 96, of Beaumont died May 13, 2000 at Schlesingers Geriatric Center.

Funeral was May 20 at 2 p.m. at Mercy Funeral Home on Gladys St. with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery.

A native of Abbeville, La., she lived in Beaumont most of her life.

Survivors include daughters, Mildred Calvin, Georgia Mae Wimbley and Deloris Bryant, all of Beaumont; 30 grandchildren; and 100 great-grandchildren.

SHIRLEY A. STEWARD

Shirley A. Steward, 61, of Beaumont died May 19, 2000 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A lifelong resident of Beaumont, she was retired from the food service industry at West Brook High School.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald Steward of Beaumont; sons, Gerald Steward Jr. of Mauriceville, Steven Steward of Red Bluff, Calif., and Kent D. Steward of Beaumont; brother, Luther Carre of Beaumont; sisters, Edna Lawson of Kountze and Carolyn Carre of Beaumont; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Forest Park United Methodist Church, 225 South Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77707.

CHARLES H. TAYLOR

Charles H. Taylor of Topsy, La., died May 19, 2000 at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, La.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Beauregard-Vernon Funeral Home in DeRidder with graveside service at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Port Arthur. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.

A native of Bannister, La., he was a self-employed plumber and former truck driver.

Survivors include his sister, Mamie T. Potts of Hayward, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
