John L. Sharp, 93, of San Augustine died Aug. 28, 2000 at San Augustine Memorial Medical Center.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. today at Thomas Cemetery in San Augustine under the direction of Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine.
A lifelong resident of San Augustine County, he was a retired farmer and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Sharp of San Augustine; daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Garasic of Kilgore and Jeananne Elkins of Lampasas; sons, John Sharp of San Augustine and Pat Sharp of Killeen; and eight grandchildren.

Harold Terry, 78, of San Augustine died Aug. 27, 2000 in San Augustine.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine with burial at Old Salem Cemetery in Shelby County.
A native of Crockett, he lived in San Augustine many years and was a retired Chase Manhatten Bank maintenance worker.
Survivors include sons, Harold Wayne Terry, Patrick Eugene Terry and Brian Christopher Terry, all of Houston; sister, Willie Mae Consford of San Augustine; and brother, Albert Terry of San Augustine.

Alfred Valdez, 81, of Port Arthur died Aug. 29, 2000 at Christus St. Mary Hospital.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
A native of Ludington, La., he lived in Port Arthur most of his life and was a retired Texaco machinist and World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Chonita Valdez of Port Arthur; daughters, Dollie V. Collazo of Groves and Bobby Valdez and Minnie Valdez, both of Dallas; stepdaughters, Maria Judy of Austin, Julie McGuire of Dallas and Dolores Green of Greenville, Miss.; stepsons, Carlos Ramirez of Nederland, George Ramirez of Beaumont and Ignacio Ramirez of Port Arthur; sister, Minnie Morua of Groves; half-sisters, Juliana Espinosa of Gary, Ind., Aurora Mercado of Fresno, Calif., Celia Castaneda of Groves and Esther Montoya of El Paso; half-brother, Jose Pralez of San Antonio; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Gilda C. Carter, 66, of Beaumont died Aug. 19, 2000 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
A native of Lima, Peru, she lived in Beaumont 40 years and was a retired volunteer for Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.
Survivors include her brother, Juan Werner of Lima; sister, Elsa de Bresciani of Lima; and one niece.

Glenda Howell Curtice, 56, of Silsbee died Aug. 20, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

A native and longtime resident of Silsbee, she was a homemaker.

Earl R. Droddy, 55, of West Orange died Aug. 19, 2000 at Christus St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur.

A native of Merryville, La., he lived in Orange 25 years and was a retired police officer for West Orange Police Department. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

A native of Teague and former resident of Orange, he lived in Temple 16 years and was retired from Shell Pipeline Division of Shell Oil Company.
Survivors include his wife, Sammie Esther Fairchild of Temple; son, Louis Fairchild of Amarillo; daughter, Kathryn Ann Fairchild of Temple; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A native of Beaumont and former resident of Vidor most of her life, she lived in Conroe three years and was a school teacher for Vidor, Beaumont and Aldine Independent School Districts and also on the educational faculty at the Leblanc Unit in Beaumont.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Tonjes of Conroe; father, Norman Sumrall of Vidor; and sister, Loretta Ann Rye of Salmon, Idaho.
