Henley

Evelyn Marie Carlton Henley age 85 of Devers diedSunday April 6, 2014 in Dayton with her beloved family by her side.

She was born in Lufkin, March 19, 1929 the daughter of the late Chester Lee Carlton and Minnie Lee Pyle Rhodes. Evelyn was a homemaker and worked at times as a seamstress, her talent awarded her the opportunity for her curtains to be hung in the Governor’s Mansion in Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Clinton Lafayette Henley Jr. Her sixty-eighth wedding anniversary would have been April 5, 2014, she and her husband never missed an anniversary in all their years together. It is now that they shared this one reunited again. Clint and Evelyn entertained friends and family every chance they had, Evelyn always had a meal prepared for all of Clint’s guests. Together they also participated in the Wallisville Bluegrass Association.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Pamala Brashear and husband Tom of Dayton, grandchildren; Tammi L. Konvicka, Kyle Reynerson, Kristi R. Castro, and Kandi R. Haring, eight great-grandchildren, sister; Jackie Hiller, brothers; Don Rhodes and David Rhodes. In addition she leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, TX 77575.

Vanslyke

Felix Vanslyke, 62, of Crosby, died on Friday April 4, 2014 at his residence.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Evergreen cemetery in Crosby, with Reverend Tommy Jackson officiating. Felix was born April 24, 1951 to Everett Milton Vanslyke Jr. and Beatrice Irene Guidry in Port Arthur. He was a faithful member of The First Apostolic Church of Highlands, and had lived in Crosby many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Everett and Beatrice Vanslyke and one brother; Glenn Vanslyke. Felix is survived by his son; Felix Vanslyke Jr. of Montana, daughter; Amanda Vanslyke of Arizona, brother; Curtis Vanslyke of Kirbyville, sister; Carolyn Vanslyke of Spurger, and three grandchildren.

Service of remembrance under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services Inc. 40847 Hwy 105E. Baton, Texas 77519.

Pearson

Charles Allen Pearson, age 62, of Pasadena died at his residence on April 5, 2014.

Charles was born October 2, 1951, son of Charles Arthur and Edna Davis Pearson. He attended and graduated from South Houston High School. He worked as a security Officer for Total Petrochemical. He was a loving son, brother and uncle.

Charles was preceded in death by his father; Charles Arthur Pearson, grandparents; Comer and Vera Ellis, James and Floye Davis, uncles; Ralph Pearson and Comer Ellis. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, mother; Edna Pearson of Hardin, brothers; James Pearson and wife Christine of Hardin, Gordon Pearson of Hardin, Thomas Pearson and girlfriend Debbie Searcy of Baytown, sister; Judy Pearson of Hardin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Abshier

Roger Dale Abshier, Jr., 35, of Anahuac, Texas, died Friday, April 4, 2014. He was a loving father, brother and friend.

Roger lived life with amazing enthusiasm, never taking one minute for granted. He was loved by all who knew him and never failed to put a smile on everyone’s face. Roger loved the outdoors and was most at home when he was hunting alligators or spending time with his two daughters, who were his heart and soul.

Roger was born July 6, 1978, in Beaumont, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother Pamela Joyce Abshier and father, Roger Dale Abshier, Sr. He is survived by his daughters, Morghan Brooke Abshier and Peighton Tayler Abshier; brothers, Willy Webber and Randy Alexander; sisters, Stacie Abshier and Christina Abshier and a host of other family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Porter, Jason Henicke, Cullen Henicke, Chris Majors, Johnny Meyer, and Lonnie Moon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kaden Meyer, Brooks Henicke, Heath Abshier, Gene Morgan, John Fox, Willy Webber, Randy Alexander, Wick Webber, Keller Brandon, Mason Henicke, Tommy English, Blu Baillio, Eugene Langford and Michael Cooley.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at Sterling Funeral Home, Anahuac, Texas.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hankamer Community Fellowship Church, Hankamer, Texas. Interment will be at the Abshier cemetery, Hankamer, Texas.

In lieu of plants or flowers, an account has been set up for Roger’s daughters at Anahuac National Bank (409-267-3106).

Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas.

Jameson

Corinne M. Beckman Jameson, 66, of Crosby, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Crosby.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Corinne was born august 8, 1947 in Spokane, WA, to parents; Harold Kendall and Shirley Dial, and was a former resident of Santa Fe, NM and Parker, CO. She was a graduate of the Las Cruces High School class of 1965, received her Masters Degree in Public Administration from New Mexico State, and was a retired HR Director with the State of New Mexico. She also enjoyed gardening, collecting, antiquing, painting, and music.

Mrs. Jameson was preceded in death by her parents, brother: John Richardson, and grandsons: Kendall Jameson and Evan Martinez. She is survived by her daughters: Lara Phillips and husband Steve of Crosby and Charissa Jameson and fiancé Chris Nieto of Colorado, son: Jeremy Jameson and wife Mandy of Colorado, sisters: Beth Anderson, Margaret Chambers, Anne Ikaard, Becky Westby, Beverly Mahaffey, Claudia Waltos, Katherine Hastings, and Kacia Kendall, brothers: David Beckman and Steve Richardson, stepfather: Albert Richardson, grandchildren: Kyle Martinez, Savannah Jameson, and Calel Nieto, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Snyder

Doris Mae Simmons Snyder, age 80 of Liberty, died April 5, 2014 in Houston, TX.

Doris was born May 24, 1933 in Liberty, TX, daughter of the late R.S. “Frenchy” Boudreaux and Cynthia Cress Boudreaux. She graduated from Liberty High School and then earned her degree in nursing school becoming a licensed RN. She was a housewife most of her life. Doris was the Director of the Senior Citizen Organization for seven years and was also the secretary at the Immaculate Conception Church, serving under Father August Pucar for seven years. She was a dedicated member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Liberty as well as a member of the church choir and the Ladies Altar Society. Doris loved to garden, dance, flowers and watching birds in her backyard. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, first husband; Alton Simmons, step-sons; Michael, Brian and Mark Snyder. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband; Charles “Chuck” Snyder of Liberty, sons; Kenny Simmons and wife Teresa of Liberty, Tommy Simmons and wife Gwen of Lubbock, TX, daughter; Donna Joiner and husband Harvey of Liberty, step-son; Scott Snyder and wife Laura of Stephenville, TX, step-daughter; Sally Caffee and husband Jim of Georgia, sister; Addie Lou Wright and husband Richard of Terrell, TX, eighteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren, father-in-law; Charles Snyder Sr.

Services for Doris Mae Simmons Snyder will be Monday, April 7, 2014 at 2pm at Immaculate Conception Church, 411 Milam, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, April 6, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with rosary to start at 7pm.

Harrington

Albert Mitchell Harrington Jr, age 87, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Liberty Health Care Center in Liberty, TX.

Albert was born October 18, 1926 in Midlothain, TX, son of the late Albert Harrington Sr and Lee Nora Johnson Harrington. Albert Jr attended Eustace High School and worked for Cameron Iron Works for ten before retiring. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946. He was also an ordained minister. Albert Jr loved to hunt, fish and especially loved to garden. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Albert Jr was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Jessie Faye Harrington, daughter; Alberta Hunt, son; Kenneth Harrington, two brothers and one sister. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, son; Gary Harrington and wife Debbie of Baytown, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Albert Mitchell Harrington Jr will be Monday, April 7, 2014 at 2pm at Waco Memorial Park, 6623 South I-H 35 in Waco, TX.

Vanya

Raymond Leroy Vanya, Sr., 78, of Batson, died Thursday April 3, 2014 at his home with his family by his side.

He was a member and past Deacon of First Baptist Church of Batson. He liked to fish and hunt. He enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and golf. Farming was his passion.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Gracie Vanya; brother, Terrell Vanya; sisters, Nelda Riley and Carol Price.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 59 years, Sue Vanya of Batson; children, Raymond Vanya, Jr. and wife Debra of Votaw, Patrick Vanya and wife Helen of Hardin, Gary Vanya and wife Lisa of Ennis, Kelly Miller and husband Dale of Batson, Angela Eckert and husband Tom of Batson; grandchildren, Justan, Jessica, Manda, Jonathan, Jeremy, Philip, Jara, Christopher, Benjamin, Alyson, Houston, Jase, Jaxon and Garison; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Freda LaNormand and Terry McCumber of Hardin.

His family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Batson Saturday April 5, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday April 6, 2014 at Guedry Cemtery in Batson, officiated by Reverend Bill Campbell and Reverend Tolbert Hudspeth.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jonathan, Jeremy, Philip, Christopher, Benjamin, Houston, Jase, Jaxon and Garison.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

Smikal

Erlene B. McCarter Smikal, 69, of Eastgate, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in Dayton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Eastgate Catholic cemetery in Eastgate. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Erlene was born November 3, 1944 in Booneville, MS, to parents; Ben and Oria Stevens McCarter, a former resident of Jacinto City, and has resided in the Dayton/Eastgate area for the past 39 years. She was a former caregiver and enjoyed fishing, dancing, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Smikal was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Geneva Gipson, and brothers: R.C., Buck, Randal, Gerald, and Charles McCarter. She is survived by her husband of 39 years: Jerry Smikal of Eastgate, daughter: Amy Pope and husband Prentiss of Dayton, son: Terry Graham and wife Debbie of Eastgate, sisters: Ann Webb of Kenefick and Louise Lowery of Dayton, grandchildren: Debbie Grace, Candice Pope, Brandi Pope, Jeremy Favors and wife Cecelia, Jessie Favors and wife Deanna, Michelle Sutton and husband Donald, and Chelse Christenberry, great-grandchildren: Brayden and Laynie Favors, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Rose

Mildred T. Rose, 90, of Dayton, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at her residence

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services at 1:00 p.m., at the Grandview Memorial Park cemetery in Pasadena. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mildred was born October 7, 1923 in Crockett, to parents; James e. and Ruthie Allen Parker, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in Dayton for the past 34 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing, gardening, babysitting, and watching the Price Is Right.

Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, father of her children: Walter C. Melching, husband: Clarence E. Rose, and sister: Lucille Tullos. She is survived by her daughter: Carolyn Foster and husband Frank of Dayton, sons: William H. “Bill” Melching and wife Patsy of Crosby and DeWayne “Wayne” Melching of Houston, sisters: Berta Robertson of Spring and Anna Bell Helm of Conroe, brother: J. E. Parker of Gilmer, grandchildren: Lisa Harryman and husband Gary, Billy Melching and wife Donna, Jeff Melching, and Steve Melching, great-granddaughter: Lindsey Harryman, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Watson

George Watson, 81, of Wallisville, Texas, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at his residence.

He was born November 2, 1932 in Anahuac, Texas to William and Hazel Watson. He served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne. George enjoyed raising his cattle, working in his garden, playing Dominos and most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents William and Hazel Watson, three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Geneva Watson; daughters: Alice Klaus and husband Johnnie and Annette Hatcher and husband Chad; brother: Robert Watson and wife Etta; grandchildren: Chad Klaus and wife Cristin, George Broussard and wife Lisa, Crystal Arthur and husband Steele and John Klaus and wife Sherry; great grandchildren: Dylan Broussard, Mariah Klaus, C.J. Klaus, Jr., Nathaniel Klaus, Trigg Arthur, Nadalie Klaus and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Watson enjoyed telling stories and jokes to everybody and making people smile, “so we just wondered what type of story and joke he told when he reached heaven.”

A visitation with the family will be on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home, in Anahuac, Texas.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00AM on Friday, April 4, 2014 in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home Anahuac, Texas, with Brother Robert Pitts officiating.

Pallbearers for Mr. Watson will be Steele Arthur, John Klaus, George Broussard, Dylan Broussard, Chad Hatcher and Tim Nash.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Klaus and Trigg Arthur.

Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas.
