Christine Russell Green, 56, of Liberty, died Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Graveside services will be held at 1:15 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Houston National cemetery with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Christine was born December 21, 1956 in Jonesboro, AR, to parents; Joe and Barbara Russell. She was a former resident of Jonesboro and has resided in Liberty for the past 17 years. She was a graduate of the Nettleton High School class of 1975, a homemaker, of the Baptist faith, and a participant in Relay for Life. She also enjoyed shopping and especially spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her grandparents: R. C. and Joanna Russell and Ralph and Mae Agnes Chaplain, mother and father-in-law: Dorothy and Robert Green, and brother-in-law: David Dew. She is survived by her husband of 39 years: Rondal F. Green of Liberty, daughter: Amy Cobbley and husband Ken of Huffman, parents: Joe and Barbara Russell of Harrisburg, AR, sister: Joyce Russell-Dew of Jonesboro, AR, brothers: Joe Russell, Jr. and wife Yvette of Benton, KY and Ralph Russell of Harrisburg, AR, grandchildren: Kayla and Nathan Cobbley, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Gibson

Loda Allen Nelson Gibson, 87 of Anahuac passed away on June 16, 2013 with her family by her side.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Anahuac under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of Loda's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 18th at the funeral home.

Loda was born to Olllie and Orena Newman Nelson, the oldest of 3 girls. Her nick name was Biddy because she followed her dad all the time. She was a graduate of Mary Hardin Baylor and University of Houston, and taught for 35 years from Pine Island, Crocket, Pt. Acres, Hamshire, Sour Lake, Pecos, and then in Anahuac and taught Sunday School more years than that.

She loved the outdoors and wildlife and worked many hours for the wildlife refuge and was a big part of the Outdoor Classroom. Even when she could no longer teach classes she volunteered in many other ways. She encouraged anyone who would listen to learn about the world around them and taught all her nieces and nephews about the wildlife around us. She loved to travel and had friends in many places.

Loda was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Rena Nelson; husband, Delbert Gibson. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Anahuac.

Loda is survived by her sons, Wayne Gibson and wife, Elizabeth, Wayde Gibson; grandchildren, Barbara Jean Benoit and husband, Lance, David Lee and Jennifer, Amanda Lee and Ed Sullivan and Daniel Gibson; great-grandchildren, Darian and Nikolas Lee, Chloe and Mason Sullivan, Kory Farquhar; sisters, Tommye Sandlin and Joann Matthews; and many nieces and nephews; brother-in law, Glen Gibson and wife, Maggie; uncle, George Myers; and a host of other family and friends.

The family wishes to thank care givers, Celina Armstrong, Leona Griffin, Terese Bradly, and Ben Beoui P.A. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Library.

Jordan

Carl Emanuel Jordan 71, of Batson, TX died Saturday June 15, 2013 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Liberty.

He was born January 11, 1942 in Batson, TX to his parents Murray Carl Jordan and Dicie Birge Jordan. Carl was a retired Oilfield worker and had lived overseas for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his son; James Richard Jordan and wife Jennifer of Batson, brothers; Robert Jordan and wife Teresa of Woodville, James Jackson Jordan and wife Becky of Batson. Sisters; Sandra Kerr of Raleigh, North Carolina Vada Goulas and husband Murray James of Houston, Anita Kunkle and husband Bert of Houston, Carolyn Soileau of Montgomery, TX Jennifer Roussel of Houston. Grandchildren; Alissa Jordan and James Wallace Jordan.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday June 18, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson.

Stuart

Dewayne Dale Stuart, age 67 of Liberty, died June 11, 2013.

Dewayne was born on July 16, 1945 in Lansing, MI, son of the late Leo J. Stuart and Irene Stickney Stuart. Dewayne attended Graylang High School and was a correctional officer. He loved fishing, hunting but mostly loved his grandchildren.

Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Tammy Best, brothers; Willard Stuart, Dallas Stuart, sisters; Marietta Stuart, Joyce Morton and Barbara Ostrander. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, sons; Casey Stuart of Hardin, Caleb Stuart and wife Kelly of Dickinson, Tim Stuart and wife Julie of Coldspring, grandchildren; Paige Stuart, Tana Stuart, Teal Stuart, Nichole Schneider, Scott Best and Jamie Best.

Services for Dewayne Dale Stuart will be Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be one hour prior to service from 10am to 11am.

Berka

Jay Berka, 54, of Liberty, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Dugat Family cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jay was born October 29, 1958 in Caldwell, to parents; Quincy A. Berka and Ruthie Jo Roundtree, a former resident of Caldwell and has resided in Liberty for the past two years. He was a graduate of the Caldwell High School class 1977, an auto technician by trade, and enjoyed playing the bass, motorcycles, and building RC model airplanes.

Mr. Berka was preceded in death by his mother: Ruthie Jo Roundtree Dugat, stepfather: Mike Dugat, sister-in-law: Betty Berka, niece: Mysti Berka, and nephew: J. J. Bishop. He is survived by his wife: Kim Pritchett Berka of Liberty, sons: Nick Hoffman of Bryan, Justin Berka-Hoffman of Bryan, Josh Hoffman of Bryan, and Blake Berka of Daisetta, daughter: Ashtyn Berka of Daisetta, stepsons: Kenny Pritchett and wife Brittany of Liberty and Wesley Pritchett and wife Tabitha of Liberty, stepdaughter: Shaunna St. Clair and husband James of Liberty, stepchildren: Chandra, Andy, Tabitha, and Breann, father: Quincy A. Berka of Caldwell, brothers: Donald Berka and Paula Orton of Caldwell and Wyatt Berka of Houston, sisters: Karen Mills and husband Calvin of Baytown and Dianna Williams of Dayton, grandchildren: Parker, Jacob, and Lana Hoffman, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Tebo

Bernice Tebo, 66, of Liberty, Texas, died June 11, 2013.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 14, 2013 at Wells Funeral Services Chapel from 1:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M.

Viewing is on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at St. Miles Baptist Church, Liberty, TX. from 11:00 A.M. –1:00 A.M.

Funeral Services: Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 1:00 P.M.

Interment in Our Mother of Mercy Catholic cemetery, Ames, TX.

Guidry

Norma Jean Stelly Guidry died June 9, 2013.

Norma Jean was born on June 29, 1949, to the late Leo and Doris Stelly. She attended Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School and later went to West Liberty Training High School where she graduated.

Norma married Larry Williams and two daughter were born; Demitra Williams and Carla Mouton. She later married Kenneth Guidry until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Xavier Stelly, Phillip, Paul Stelly, Jr, Leo Stelly, Jr; one sister: Leola Griffin.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters: Demitra Williams and Carla (Perry) Mouton; siblings: Myrtle Naves and Ruby Mazique, Lee J. Stelly and Kenneth (Kim) Stelly, all of Seattle, WA, Audry Williams of Houston, TX, Leona Barnes, Viola Bean (Bill) of Ames, TX., four grandchildren: Leo Roberson, P.J. Mouton, Brook Williams, Xavier Creek, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 1:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Services. Funeral Services on Saturday, June15, 2013 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Ames, TX at 10:30 A.M. Lie-In-State at 9:00 A.M. Rosary at 9:30 A.M. Interment in Ames Catholic cemetery, Ames, TX.

Pope

Harold Pope, age 87 of Liberty, died June 11, 2013 in Liberty, TX.

Harold was born on July 18, 1925 in Edwardsville, IL, son of the late Vernie Pope and Verda Cochran Pope. Harold attended Fruitport High School and then graduated from the Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY where he received his degree in ministry. Harold loved to read, watch John Wayne movies and also loved his music.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, sons; Harold Pope Jr, Howard Pope, grandson; Phillip Ray Cottle Jr and sister; Lillian Reynolds. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, wife of sixty-three years; Arlene Pope of Liberty, daughters; Pamela Booth and husband Robert of Liberty, Louise Cottle and husband Phillip of Liberty, grandchildren; Joseph Vandergraph and wife Amber, Emily Cottle, great-grandchildren; Trista Headrick, Brandon DeLome, Joshua DeLome and Jayden Macias.

Services for Harold W. Pope will be Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Palms Memorial cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the family to help for funeral expenses.

Peeler

Mickel W. “Bicycle Boy” Peeler, 51, of Dayton, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in Dayton.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton with burial following thereafter. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mickel was born November 16, 1961 in Houston, to parents; Edward B. and Marie F. Crenshaw Peeler, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Dayton for the past five years. He was a self-employed yard worker and enjoyed fishing and riding his bicycle.

Mr. Peeler was preceded in death by his father: Edward Beam Peeler, mother: Marie F. Crenshaw Peeler, and brother: Edward M. Peeler. He is survived by his brother: James E. Peeler of Frankston, sister: Ellen Adams of Waxahachie, sister-in-law: Connie Peeler of Dayton, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Deaton

Lynn Bagent Deaton died June 9th, 2013 unexpectedly at her home in Mont Belvieu, Tx.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M., June 14, 2013 in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Lynn was born March 7th, 1943 in Casper, Wyoming, but spent most of her life in Mont Belvieu, Texas. She was a proud member of the Ponca Indian Tribe. She was part of the Barbers Hill class of 1962 where she met and married her high school sweetheart John Deaton for almost 51 years.

She spent many years as a cake artist, a food services employee at Barber Hill Middle School, delivering flowers for Temples Florist and catering weddings. She was a multi-talented artist whose hobbies included oil painting, crafts, quilting, crocheting, and jewelry design. She also enjoyed; gardening, collecting antiques, and was an amazing cook! If Lynn made it…everyone loved it.

She was preceded in death by her parents Orval E. Bagent and Leona Sherman Bagent, brothers; Jean and Wayne Bagent.

She is survived by her husband John R. Deaton; daughters, Kristy Deaton of LaPorte, Texas; Karen Johnston and husband David of Tomball, Texas. She has 4 grandchildren Tiffany Goines, David Johnston, Courtney Johnston and Kaylyn Johnston. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren – Ransom Goines, Faith Goines, Lylah Johnston and Maddox Johnston, as well as her beloved Chihuahua “Baby”.

Tomlinson

Barbara Rae Tomlinson, 76, of Saratoga, died after a lengthy illness, on Monday June 10, 2013.

She was a member of West End Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was always involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s extra curricular activities. She was a life coach to all.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Mary Heufelder and nephew, David Carroll Wallace.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 52 years, Thomas Tomlinson of Saratoga; children, Gina Ann Brunett and husband Terry of Vidor, Tina Kay Smith and husband Vernon of Saratoga, Lisa Marie Craig and husband Jason of Katy, Robin Rene Palumbo and husband Steven of Saratoga, Tracie Rae Jacobson of Longview, Thomas Kendall Tomlinson, Jr. of Saratoga; step-son, Thomas Kendall Lambert and wife Liz of Nederland; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters Laura Ann Wallace of Vidor and Elaine Kay Whitten of Vidor; niece, Monica Elaine Whitten of Vidor; nephew, Steven Wayne Whitten of Groves; her little dog and loyal companion, Tillie.

Her family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel on Tuesday June 11, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A service of remembrance is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday June 12, 2013 at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel, officiated by Reverend Alvin Tomlinson. Internment will follow at Oil Field cemetery in Saratoga.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Moody, Ricky Cross and Cord Rawls.

Ronald Williams 66 of Baytown died May 18, 2013.

A visitation will be held May 24, 2013 from 5-7PM at Proctor’s Mortuary Anahuac Location. His Home going service will be held in Houma, La. Interment will be in Southdown cemetery Houma, La.

Ronald was preceded in death by parents George and Rosalie Williams, daughter: Schwann Deville son: Jaquan Veal, sisters: Shirley Williams, Pamela Williams, Linda Williams and Millie Celestine, brothers: George Williams, John Freeman Williams and Donald Williams nieces: Samaria Burton, Jacqueline Lyons and Sonja Matthews, nephew Donald Ray Williams
