Kimberly Annette Dancer

Services for Kimberly Annette Dancer, 30, of Elkhart, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart with the Rev. Barney Walker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dancer died Tuesday at her residence.
She had lived in Anderson County since 1986, coming from Houston.
Mrs. Dancer was a Baptist. She had worked at Pizza Hut and was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Luther Dancer, in 2000; grandmother, Dorothey Luker in 1996; and grandfather, Luther Mitchell Dancer in 1986.
Mrs. Dancer is survived by her parents, Elton and Deborah Dancer of Elkhart; son, Cody Robert DeFore of Elkhart; daughter, Kelsey M. DeFore of Elkhart; brother, Joe Luker of Elkhart; and grandmother, Eloise Elizabeth Carnes of Houston.
Pallbearers will be Joe Luker, Joey Shores, Brad Socia, Bill Jones, Clint Hawkins and Mario Luna.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bessie Word

Funeral arrangements for Bessie Word, 88, of Palestine, are pending at McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Word died Wednesday in Dallas.

Valerie Jean Farris

Services for Valerie Jean Farris, 60, were held Saturday at Muse Cemetery with the Rev. Beverly Tune officiating. Burial was in Muse Cemetery.
Mrs. Farris died Jan. 7 at Palestine Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Farris was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ruth Katherine Reed; and her husband of 18 years, Thurman E. Farris Jr.
She is survived by a brother, Larry Wagner of Snowflake, Ariz.; sisters, Gerrie Chick of Show Low, Ariz., Patricia Musick of Aransas Pass and Dorothy Moore of Waxahachie; and stepfather, Emory Dean of Palestine.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Linda Darlene Murphy

Services for Linda Darlene Murphy, 55, of Fairfield, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield with the Rev. Buddy Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Murphy died Tuesday in Waco.
She was born Sept. 12, 1947, in Rosebud to Robert and Nellie Mortimer.
Mrs. Murphy was a beautician. She worked for Martha’s Beauty Shop for 28 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by her husband, Albert Murphy of Fairfield; son, Jimmy Murphy of Fairfield; and brothers, Robert Mortimer and Donald Mortimer, both of Ennis.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Lane, Brent Dolbey, Derrick Dolbey, Michael Fuentes, Dana Harris, Brad Franklin, Cuinn McWilliams and Clay Kimball.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marlin Cockerell and Jason Jeitz.

Barness Collier

Funeral arrangements for Barness Collier are pending at Davis Funeral Home.
Mr. Collier died Wednesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Lawrence Pettiette Sr.

Lawrence W. Pettiette Sr., of Shreveport, La., died Saturday in Shreveport. Services were held in Shreveport.

Mr. Pettiette was reared in Palestine by his parents A.W. and Theresa Pettiette. He was a serviceman in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Harvey.

Mr. Pettiette is survived by his wife, Marilyn Pettiette of Shreveport; sons, Larry Pettiette Jr. and David Pettiette, both of Shreveport; daughters, Dr. Mary Pettiette Mildner of Chapel Hill, N.C., Dr. Julia Pettiette Doolin of Shreveport, Dr. Claire Pettiette Hall of Los Angeles,  Calif., and P.J. Pettiette of Hollywood,  Calif.; sisters, Inez Cheatham of Palestine, Verna Sloan of Athens and Terry Guedin of Houston; brothers, A.W. Pettiette Jr. of Palestine and Bernard Pettiette of Glendale, Ariz.; and 15 grandchildren.

John H. Buttram Jr.

Services for John Horace Buttram Jr., 66, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Christian Center in Oakwood with the Rev. Jack Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood City Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. An honor guard will be accorded by the  Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Gurney Unit.

Mr. Buttram died Sunday at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

He was born June 12, 1935, in Springer, N.M., to John H. and Evelyn Welch Long Buttram Sr.

Mr. Buttram was employed at the Gurney Unit of the  Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was a member of Calvary Christian Center in Oakwood.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Mr. Buttram is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marie Buttram of Oakwood; his father and stepmother, John H. and Lenora Buttram of Pineville, Mo.; daughter, Tina Smith of Oakwood; sons, John H. Buttram III of Anderson, Mo., and Jeffrey Scott Buttram of Elgin; sister, Frances Cook of Anderson, Mo.; brothers, Jack Buttram of Tampa, Fla., Ray Buttram of Anderson, Mo., Bob Buttram of San Antonio and James Buttram of Pineville, Mo.; stepbrother, Jerry Hammontree of Duenweg, Mo.; stepsisters, Vicki Leach of Pineville, Mo., and Cindy House of Duenweg, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Mike Gordan, Bill Hague, Arlie Smith, Don Rose, Tooter Dorman and Neil Cantrell.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Willis George Angton

Services for Willis George Angton, 62, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pilgrim Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Price Cemetery.

Mr. Angton died Saturday in Palestine.

A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Emanuel Funeral Home.

Egbert H. Bishop

Services for Egbert H. Bishop, 85, of Lake Ioni, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lakeside Baptist Church with the Rev. Amos Cowart officiating. Burial will follow in Strong Memorial Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Bishop died this morning at East  Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

He was born Sept. 14, 1915 in Anderson County to William Benjamin and Iva Mae Gray Bishop.

Mr. Bishop was a graduate of Slocum High School. He was a contractor. He served in the Army Air Corp. in Europe and Africa during World War II.

He was preceded in death by sister, Billie Marie McBicker.

Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife, Freddie Thompson Bishop of Lake Ioni; daughter, Nancy Bishop Byrd of Crowley; sons, Charles H. Bishop of Tyler, Stephan A. Bishop of Pearland and Mark A. Bishop of Hobbs, N.M.; sister, Martha Neal of Amarillo; brother, Benny Gray Bishop of Tolar; and eight grandchildren.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Condolence calls will be received from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ella Pavelka

Funeral arrangements for Ella Bea Pavelka, 85, of Palestine, are pending with Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pavelka died today at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Louise Cheatham

Services for Louise Cheatham, 89, of Grapeland, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Grapeland with the Revs. Charles Haley and Kennith Mobley officiating. Burial will follow in Grapeland City Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.

Mrs. Cheatham died Monday morning at East  Texas Medical Center in Crockett.

She was born July 30, 1911, in Houston County to James Lester and Naomi Cook Nichols.

Mrs. Cheatham was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Grapeland.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Cheatham, in 1973; grandson, Clint Cheatham; three sisters, Ruby Muskgrove, Eva Mae Grimes and Minnie Irine Nichols; and two brothers, Idas Nichols and Richard Henry Nichols.

Mrs. Cheatham is survived by her husband, Early Cheatham of Grapeland; son, Billy Earl Cheatham of Grapeland; sisters, Edith Murdock and Oleta Wallace, both of Grapeland; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bill Glynn Cheatham, Terry Scott Cheatham, Alan Cheatham, Darrell Wallace, Doug McIntire, Tim Schafer and Josh Cheatham.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Heath Hansel

Services for Heath Hansel, 32, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery.

Mr. Hansel died Monday morning in Freestone County.

He was born Jan. 16, 1969, in Anamosa, Iowa to Neil and Joyce Finkenbinder Hansel.

Mr. Hansel was a Methodist and was employed with Reliance Well Service as a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his father in April 2001.

Mr. Hansel is survived by his wife, Gina Moseley Hansel of Palestine; daughters, Morgan Hansel and Amanda Hansel of Palestine; mother, Joyce Hansel of Streetman; grandfather, Dale Hansel of Iowa; and sister, Shannon Hansel of Palestine.

Pallbearers will be Troy Moseley, Randal Collins, Roger Jiminez, Alton Doucette, Kenny Gannon, Phillip Castillo, Robert Boggs and Adureatha Spurlock.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Charles Bonnerup

Services for Charles B. Bonnerup, 85, of Alvin will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield with Pastor Jerry Bagwell officiating. Burial will take place at George Cemetery in the Clayhill community. Arrangements are under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel, Fairfield.

Mr. Bonnerup died Sunday in Friendswood.

He was born Oct. 26, 1915 in Erie, Pa.

Mr. Bonnerup was a retired rancher, a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield and served in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara West Bonnerup.

Mr. Bonnerup is survived by sons Chris Bonnerup of Alvin and James Bonnerup of Humble; brother, Norman Bonnerup of Albert Lea, Minn.; sisters, Florence Brzezenski, Esther Falksen and Lois Gayken, all of Albert Lea, Minn., Ruby BaumGardner of Aurora,  Colo. and Doris Broitzman of Northwood, Iowa; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
