Jackson

Albert Cecil Jackson Sr., 68, of Rye, Texas died Saturday August 14, 2013 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

He loved the river and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents, Onnie Dale and Mary Ann Jackson; siblings, Anna May Jackson and Ricky Jackson; grandson, Brent Stuckey.

He is survived by his children, Albert Jackson Jr. of Liberty and Lisa Stuckey and husband Gary of Daisetta; siblings, Bubba Jackson of Matagorda, William Jackson of Dayton, Birdie Myers of Daisetta, Martha Birch and husband John of Liberty and Suzie Snyder and husband Pete of Cleveland; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Following his wishes, Mr. Jackson will be cremated. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

Creel

James “Jakie” Glenn Creel Sr., 80, of Hardin, Texas, died on Monday, April 15, 2013 at Magnolia Place Health Care, Liberty, Texas.

Jakie was born on May 6, 1932 in Beaumont, Texas to parents, James Gordon Creel and Hattie Rebecca Waldrop Creel. He worked for Humble Oil Co. for sixteen years, leaving to start an oilfield construction business of his own, he then went on to Creel Construction and Trucking Co. Jakie was also a rancher. He raised cattle his whole life, passing down this love and way of life to his sons and grandsons.

Jakie was an active member of Hardin Baptist Church, where he was Chairman of Deacons and taught Sunday school.

Jakie was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gordon Clifton Creel, and one sister Wilma Huddleston. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Billie Joyce Oliver Creel, two sons, James Glenn Creel Jr. and wife Pam, Kyle Wayne Creel Sr. and wife Diane, sister, Dortha Yardam, four grandsons, Gordon Craig Creel and wife Jennifer, Jeremy Glenn Creel, Kyle Wayne Creel Jr. and wife Charita, and Joshua Alan Creel, three great-grandchildren, Hunter Creel, Grayson Creel and Paige Creel and many other relatives and friends. Jakie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Johnson

Vernon Johnson left this world to be reunited with the love of his life, his wife of 62 years, Helen, on 4/15/2013.

He was born in Lamesa, Texas 6/12/1926, but raised in Hull, TX. He graduated from Hull High School where he played football and played his trumpet during halftime with the high school marching band. He served in the Navy during WWII and met his bride to be, Helen, in Seattle, Washington. They married and came to TX with their six month old daughter, Sherron, in 1947.

He started his civilian career as a Rainbo bread delivery truck driver in Beaumont. They moved to Liberty and he went to work for Halliburton in 1950. Daughter, Marilyn came along in 1952. He remained with Halliburton in Liberty for 20 years. He went to work with B&C Well Service in 1970 and remained with them for 18 years and shortly for 2 years with Pengo after they bought B&C. He retired in 1990. He was active at the Elk’s Lodge until retirement and is a lifetime member of the VFW. He loved to cook and was always in demand for bar-b-ques and company functions. He was a member of a Houston Rodeo cook-off team, the Liberty Burners. They never won, but if they’d give a prize for the most fun team, they surely would have won!!! He will be remembered as someone who could make you laugh with his stories. People were drawn to his happy go lucky personality. When you were a friend of Vernon’s, you were a friend for life.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine, his parents, Hubert and Edith Johnson, his wife, Helen and his son-in-law, Jerry “Clay” Prescott. He is survived by his daughters, Sherron Prescott and Marilyn Luedtke and her husband, Ron, his grand-daughters, Vicky Waltrip and LeAnne Goudeau, his great grandchildren, Ryan, Kandace, Rachel, Taylor and Blake and his 3 great great grandchildren, Payton, Taylon and Xaylon.

The family wants to give a special thanks to all the nurses from Angels Above Us, Inc who gave Dad special care and support during the past several years. They were all carrying angels, but we want to send a very special “thank you” to Chare’ Drake. We also want to thank special family friends, Mae Joyce Down, Evelyn Smith, Sue Wiggins, Pam Sellars, Tommie Greak, Debbie Hanagriff and their families for a lifetime of friendship. We have shared our successes, our failures, our happy moments and those sad times too, but they have been steadfast with their support and love.

Services for Vernon Johnson will be Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX. Visitation will be Friday, April 19, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service.

Nichols

Sheldon J. Nichols, 71, of New Caney, died Friday, April 12, 2013, in Montgomery.

Memorial services are pending at this time. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Sheldon was born March 17, 1942 in Tecumseh, MI, to parents; Lauren E. and LaMora L. Keys Nichols, a former resident of Huffman, and has resided in New Caney for the past year. He was a graduate of the Tecumseh High School class of 1960, received a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, was a veteran of the US Army, a retired aircraft mechanic from Bush IAH where he worked for KLM and Air France, and member of the AOPA, NRA, Pilot Mechanics Association, and American Legion. He also enjoyed fishing, collecting firearms, attending gun shows, and motorcycles.

Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his father: Lauren E. Nichols, mother: LaMora L. Keys Nichols, wife of 44 years: Linda K. Blumerick Nichols, and sisters: Loah “Lucy” Smith and Ann Nichols. He is survived by his brothers: Norman Nichols of Humble and Clark Nichols of Lansing, MI, niece: Stephanie Neves and husband Cameron of New Caney, great-niece: Ashley Neves, great-nephews: John Cameron Neves and Christopher Neves, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Rice

Marie Janet Worley Rice, 78, of Kenefick, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Magnolia Place Nursing Home in Liberty.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Janet was born October 30, 1934 in Lafayette, LA, to parents; John B. Guidry and Doris I. Christy Worley, later adopted by Albert S. Worley, and has been a longtime resident of Kenefick. She graduated high school in LA, was a member of the Kenefick Baptist Church, and an admissions clerk for Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena before retiring. She also enjoyed church activities, dancing, bingo, dominoes, sewing, and especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her husband: Everett L. Rice, father: Albert S. Worley, mother: Doris I. Christy Worley, son: John H. Scarborough, daughter: Vicki L. Ballou, and sister: Edna C. Furstenfeld. She is survived by her daughters: Cindy Collins of Liberty and Crystal Deshotel and husband David of Liberty, brother: Lloyd Worley of CO, sister: Kim Worley of CO, grandchildren: Jennifer Weeks, Daniel Weeks, Melissa Moss, Samantha Deville, Steven Westmoreland, Gavin Deshotel, Jonathan Deshotel, Jessica Deshotel, Brittany LeJeune, John Scarborough, Chelsey Kirton, Tamara Robbins, Byron Eckhart, and Phillip Horrell, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Hamilton

Pamela Blanche Hamilton, age 66 of Liberty, died on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at her residence.

Pamela was born November 17, 1946 in Paducah, TX, daughter of Leslie Farrow and Olive Wedel Hamilton. She graduated from Liberty High School as valedictorian in 1965 and then attended SMU where she graduated in 1969. Pamela worked for Spring-Branch High School as a math teacher and then later opened her own business, Learning Unlimited.

Pamela was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, cousins; Gail Krohn of Port Arthur, TX, Laura Tatum of Port Arthur, TX and Carolyn Ducote and husband Larry of Conroe, TX.

Graveside services will be Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 11am at Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty.

Cooper

AniLourie Laverne Cade Cooper age 80 of Moss Hill passed away April 11, 2013 in Houston.

She was born in Harris County, October 10, 1932 the daughter of the late Carl Otto Hildebrandt and Ella Meta Mittelstedt Hildebrandt. She loved to garden, tend to her flower beds, and watch the birds. She was great cook who especially enjoyed fussing over her family’s birthdays. AniLourie especially loved spending time with her beloved family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. A homemaker at heart she also was a devoted Christian who loved her Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her first husband Grady Cade Sr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband; Duayne Cooper of Moss Hill; sons; Grady Cade Jr wife Mary of Moss Hill; Carl Cade wife Maureen of Moss Hill; David Cade wife Kim of Moss Hill; Alfred Cade wife Kimberly of Dayton; daughter; Cindy Tinkle husband John of Hardin; sister Lyndia Mae Gerhart; twelve grandchildren and spouses, numerous great-grandchildren and four nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday April 16, 2013 from 5-8PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 10AM Wednesday April 17, 2013 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Hardin Chapel cemetery. .

Davis

Scott Robert ‘Cowboy’ Davis of Liberty, Texas died Friday, April 12th at the age of 49 in Houston.

Scott was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on February 21, 1964 to the late Robert L. Davis and Uvonne Adams Davis. A graduate of Liberty High School class of 1982, Scott worked for numerous gas and pipeline companies as a Project Manager throughout his career. Scott enjoyed being around people – especially his family and friends. A big kid at heart, he was an avid NASCAR fan. Scott also loved volunteering at the Trinity Valley Exposition, cooking BBQ, and dancing.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife of twenty-five years Felecia Davis of Liberty; daughter Augusta Davis of Liberty; sisters Terri Norwood and husband Randy of The Woodlands, Toni Smith and husband Chipper of Liberty; father and mother-in-law Vester and Elise Smith of Jasper; sisters-in-law Leslie Wiggins and husband Randy of Tomball, Michelle Huff and husband Bryan of Bridge City. Scott is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Jennifer Scroggins and husband Jerred, Courtney Schweitzer and husband Jason, Whitney Wiggins, Lindsay Norwood, Brett Norwood, Blaine Huff, Hannah Huff, Chloe Huff as well as great-niece Keyli Scroggins and great-nephew Luke Scroggins.

Visitation for Scott will be Monday, April 15th from 5 – 8 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Liberty. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 16th at 3pm at the Methodist Church with a reception immediately following the service.

Synagal

Mary Lee Synagal, 72 of Wallisville, TX., died at her residence on Apr. 12, 2013.

Services will be held at St. Mary Baptist Church, 213 Albrittion Gully Rd. Hankamer, TX, Apr. 20, 2013; visitation will begin at 9AM until funeral at 11AM. Interment will be in Godfrey cemetery, Wallisville.

Cherishing her memories are husband: Jerald Synagal, children: Jo Ann Patillo, Georgia Antoine, Jay Carr, Annette Lilly, Michael Synagal and Juanita Synagal, sisters: Lillian Moore and Mary Alice Jackson. 6- Grandchildren, 1- Great- Grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

Winkelmann

Levirna Winkelmann, age 87 and a resident of Cleveland, Texas, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at her home.

She was born in Welcome, Texas in 1926 to parents Theodore W. and Lillie Thielemann. She married Wilbert Otto Winkelmann on January 26, 1946; she loved being a wife and mother; they had six children and six grandchildren. Her passion was working in her garden, tending her chickens; and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for years.

She is preceded in death by her husband Wilbert Otto Winkelmann; parents Theodore W. and Lillie Thielemann; and her daughter Arlene Herndon. Survivors include daughters Verna J. Morrow, Dianna DuBose; Sharon Gothard; sons Wilbert L. Winkelmann, Charles W. Winkelmann, Donald E. Winkelmann (adopted grandson); sister Lillie Mae Aschenbeck; grandchildren John Winkelmann, Kyle Winkelmann, Stacie Morrow, Alfred Cade Jr., Carl Cade; great-grandchildren Amanda and Meagan Winkelmann, Annie Morrow, and McKenzie Cade; step-grandchildren Dexter Gothard and Scott Trigg; step-great-grandchildren Sullivan and Genevieve Trigg, Haylee Doskosil, and Eli Herndon; numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and faithful friends throughout the years.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 14, 2013, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Pastor Mark Anderson will preside over funeral services being held Monday, April 15, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel with interment following at Ryan cemetery. Pallbearers include John Winkelmann, Alfred Cade Jr., Kyle Winkelmann, Carl Cade, Scott Trigg, and Donnie Winkelmann. In lieu of flowers the family ask that contributions be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 901 Plum Grove Rd., Cleveland, Texas 77327.

Cost

Ida Theodora Proctor Cost, 84, of Dayton died at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas on Thursday, April 11, 2013.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother.

Ida loved sewing, fishing, puzzles and traveling. She owned and operated Ida's Townhouse Restaurant in Dayton, managed The Hungry Hound, and was in Office Administration for Penny Distributing, where she retired.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Linney cemetery Saturday, April 13, 2013. A gathering of Ida's family and friends will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband Holmes Manuel "Buster" Proctor, parents; Elbert and Annie Powell, son; Curtis Proctor, daughter; Ann Hracek, and husband Ray, son in law; Rex Reed, granddaughter; Jenny Hracek, brothers; Elbert and Bryant Powell, sisters; Thelma, Ruby, Bonnie, Katherine, and Mae.

Ida is survived by her husband; Everett "Buster" Cost, sons; Ronnie Proctor and wife Sandy, Jacky Cost and wife Edwina, Royce Proctor and wife Sandy, daughters; Christine Herndon and husband Rick, Jana Reed, Nineteen grandchildren, Twenty-one great- grandchildren, 2 great- great- grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

Coughlin

Aurora Gloria Coughlin 76 of Liberty, Texas died Thursday April 11, 2013 at Magnolia Manor Healthcare Center in Liberty.

A native of Juanadiaz, Puerto Rico she had lived in Liberty, most of her life and was an homemaker and a member of the Bibleway Pentecostal Church also of Liberty.

She is survived by her husband Raymond Coughlin of Liberty, sons; David Coughlin and wife Carol of Shelton, Washington State Joe Coughlin and wife Daleena of Liberty, James Coughlin and wife Monica of Dayton, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday April 13, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. At Bibleway Pentecostal Church of Liberty with Reverend Adolph Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside cemetery next to the church. The family will be receiving friends also on Saturday from 10:00A.M. until time of service.

Serving as pallbearers are Dewitt Thompson, Russell Thompson, Buddy Burch, Jim Simmons, Donald Calhoun, and Dennis Burch. Honorary pallbearers are Everett Vaughn, Jeremiah Thompson, and Johnny Thompson.

Rhonda Lynn Downs Luce 53, of Daisetta, died April 11, 2013 at Christus St. Elizabeth in Beaumont, Texas.

She was a Homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Daisetta. Rhonda is preceded in death by her Mother; Dorothy "Tookie" Duff Downs., Aunt; Gwen Robinson and Grandparents; Archie and Colleen Duff. She is survived by her Father; Johnny Maurice Downs of Daisetta, Texas., Husband; Alex "Buddy" Luce of Daisetta, Texas., Sons; Chad Downs and wife Jayme of Daisetta, and Alex Dylan Luce of Daisetta. Daughters; Crystal Luce of Daisetta, Texas and Amanda Lynn Luce of Daisetta. Brother; Johnny Maurice Downs, Jr. of Daisetta. Sisters; Susan Bell of Channelview, Texas, and Jody Guidry of Daisetta, nephews; Joe Allen Guidry of Daisetta, Brandon Downs of Daistta, Caleb Downs of Daisetta, and Hunter Bell of Channelview, niece; Angel Guidry of Daisetta. Grandchildren; are Ryan, Saira, Shyanne, John, Brice, Brooke and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday April 14, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Chapel with Reverend Tyra Rich and Reverend Lamar Shane Officiating. The family will be recieving friends for Rhonda on Saturday April 13, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. also at Faith & Family Chapel with interment to follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson. Serving as Pallbearers are David Hickman, Sam Bishop, Darrell Bean, Brandon Broom, Clint Deckert, Jason Merchant, Phil Thornton and Tony Fregia. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Allen Guidry, Brandon Downs, William Gartner, Alan Gartner, Curt Gartner, Bubba Fregia.

Wylie

Les Wylie died April 10, 2013. Les was born on December 17, 1935 in Raymondville, Texas.

Les was the Commander of the VFW Post 5621 for three different terms. He loved the VFW. He was also a member of the Liberty Elks Lodge and a lifetime member of the American Legion. Les loved playing poker and was a diehard Texas Longhorn, Texan and Astros fan. He was also a dedicated Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife; Dorothy Elaine Wylie, brother; Albert Wylie, sister; “Sister” Wylie, and stepson; David Robicheaux. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of almost 13 years; Linda Wylie, three daughters; Fran Lay and husband Toy of Dayton, TX, Lisa Hanson of Dayton and Melissa Fregia and husband James of Liberty, six grandchildren; Tod Lay, Dawn Lay, Alissa Hanson, Adam Jones, James M. Fregia and Krystal Mobley, twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, a loving sister-in-law, Peggy Justice of Dayton, a brother Joe Wylie and wife Gina and many other relatives and friends

Services for Les Wylie will be Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Moss Hill cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, April 12, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service. Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service.
